《Father Laff AU (Socksfor1) Volume 1》The ArchAngel Part 4:

The next following days were a living hell...
The entire patrol squad from the P.D have been combing through the streets day and night on high alert. Every news station has broadcasted the situation and likewise; the gang alerted everyone on youtube to be on the lookout for anyone suspicious.
Unfortunately; there was a group that was trying to stop anyone who was trying to find Nadwe, a huge group of supporters on the 'Holy-Service's side and who believed Nadwe was taken with every good reason. With this, there are constant fights and riots caused by this supporter group.
Because of this, there has been no progress on finding Nadwe...
And Laff has been despondent.
He sat at his small dining table, quietly eating some leftovers from god knows when as he looked down silently. He hasn't slept in the past 2 and a half days and it was taking its toll on him. It was slowly eating at his sanity as he slowly felt like he was starting to lose hope. He almost didn't register the soft knocks at the door, glancing up tiredly as he let out a quiet 'come in'.
The doorknob turned as the door quietly opened, the workaholic Shroobz walking in silently with a bag with takeout in one of his hands as he closed the door behind him. "Laff..? You okay in here..?"
Laff glanced at the archway as Shroobz appeared in it, a little surprised "w-why are you here...? D-Don't you have work...?"
Shroobz stifled a chuckle "Laff I work 13 jobs and most of them I'm not technically hired there, I say 'bye' and no one cares." He walked over and set the bag down as Laff looked back down "Plus, Oompa called and asked if I could come to check on you.." Shroobz looked at him "...are you okay?" Laff only nodded softly as he slowly stood back up "I-I'll be fine, a-as soon as we find Nadwe..."

Laff had dark circles under his eyes as his hair was a mess, for only two and a half days of no sleep; Laff looked awful. He clearly has been working so hard on finding Nadwe he hasn't taken care of himself.
Shroobz noticed this and quickly stopped Laff from walking away. "Hey, no, wait a minute." He pulled Laff back and looked at him "Laff, when was the last time you slept?" Laff shook his head and swayed a bit "a day or two? I-It doesn't matter, I need to find Nadwe.." He tried to walk away again as Shroobz pulled him back again. "Not without sleep you're not, your skills become impaired when you don't get sleep, you know that." Laff pulled himself away "Shroobz just let me-"
Quickly, Shroobz grabbed Laff by his shoulders and slammed him into the nearby wall, "LAFF!" Laff jolted as his eyes widened, startled as Shroobz kept him pinned against the wall.
"Laff, I understand you're worried about finding Nadwe, but you aren't going to be able to do anything if you keep refusing to take care of yourself! If you keep denying yourself proper rest and nutrition you are gonna collapse, and if you collapse in one of those 'Holy-Service' supporter areas you're gonna be killed! If not that, you're gonna kill yourself by not taking care of yourself!"
Laff stared at him before he started trembling softly as Shroobz lessened his grip on him "S-Shroobz...I-I-.." He sniffled before he started sobbing softly. Shroobz let him go as Laff covered his mouth, almost curling upon himself "I-I'm j-just so worried...N-Nadwe could b-be dead by now..!!" He took in a sharp breath as Shroobz pulled him close, holding him.
"I know Laff, but you can't keep pushing yourself like this...We're going to find him, okay?"

Laff sniffled and nodded silently, holding onto Shroobz tightly. Shroobz then looped one of his arms under Laff's legs, holding him bridal style as he walked over to the couch "You on the other hand need sleep and a proper meal to help you function properly." He laid Laff down on the couch and pried him off gently and grabbed the folded blanket that was hanging off the armchair.
He unfolded it and covered Laff with it "Now; you are going to lay here and take a nap, then when you wake up; you're gonna have some tea and some actually cooked food, understand?"
Laff mumbled softly and nodded, feeling the exhaustion creep upon him as it became harder to move his body than before. Shroobz gently tucked the blanket around Laff. "Don't try to get up either, I don't want to have to sit on your chest to keep you here until you fall asleep." He gently petted Laff's hair as he mumbled quietly; quickly falling asleep.
Shroobz sighed softly and got up "good.." He walked into the kitchen and unpacked the takeout food. After a few minutes, he took out his phone and dialed the one number he hadn't called ever since this ordeal started. He held the phone to his ear and tapped his foot impatiently, huffing softly.
Soon the line connected; "Shroobz-!? What do you want man!?!"
Shroobz narrowed his eyes "Syce you fucking cunt, I know you know damn well where Beef Team Six is located and I know you are involved in taking Nadwe. Call off whatever the fuck '' is and return Nadwe to Laff."
Shroobz pinched the bridge of his nose "Syce where the fuck is Nadwe?"
"I cannot disclose that location! What Beef Team Six and Holy-Service does IS NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS!!"
Shroobz walked over to the stove "But whatever happens to Nadwe IS my business. Laff has been working himself to death trying to find his son, now where the fuck is he?"
"The abomination is a Dhampir, Shroobz! Do you really want half vampires running around!? VAMPIRES ARE ALREADY A MENACE TO SOCIETY!! EACH ONE OF THEM DESERVES TO BE EXECUTED!"
Shroobz tilted his head "Like how being Homosexual, Lesbian, Bi, Pan, and Trans is punishable by death in 13 countries and a crime in 70?"
"DON'T BRING THAT INTO THIS, THAT IS DIFFERENT!!!"
Shroobz shook his head "No, it isn't. Every being in existence deserves a chance at a good life. It doesn't matter based on the color of their skin or their religion or their sexuality or their gender. Why should Vampires who are actually good people be any different, Syce?"
Syce made a small collection of confusing noises before he groaned loudly "THIS IS WHY I HATE BEING YOUR ROOMMATE SOMETIMES!!! BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT VAMPIRES AND OTHER OTHERWORLDLY CREATURES ARE IMMORAL! AND DHAMPIR IS ONE OF THE STRONGEST CREATURES IN EXISTENCE! IF I LET HIM LIVE THEN THAT COULD MEAN THE END OF THE HUMAN RACE!"
Shroobz narrowed his eyes "Syce, please, I'm begging you. Call off , or I'm going to take you down myself."
A smug laugh was heard from the other end. "Then come get me bitch; I'll even show you how much time you have left you, bastard." The line disconnected as Shroobz looked at the message Syce sent.
Shroobz sighed quietly and texted another number with his eyes narrowed.

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
