I apologize ahead of time for all of the switching point of views. And of how short it is. It's leading up to the action.

Today was initiation and I was missing it. Not like I was going to become dauntless but I felt like I needed to be there for my comrades.

I heard a knock on my door. It was Eric.

"Hey," he said, taking a seat on the edge of the bed. I smiled up at him as he placed his hand onto my stomach. He's done that ever since the almost miscarriage.

"I can't wait to feel her move." He nodded in agreement although his features looked troubled and his mind elsewhere. "What's wrong, Eric?"

He shook his head, his face going blank of all emotion. "I just don't want to leave you today. That's all." I didn't buy that excuse. Something was definitely off.

I faked a yawn, leaning back against my hospital pillow. "I'm really tired, Eric."

He nodded, placing a kiss onto my cheek, before leaving the room. I closed my eyes, almost asleep when I felt a prick on my arm. My eyes were too heavy to investigate further.

Eric's POV

I sighed, setting the syringe aside. I called Jeanine, letting her know that Gabriela was out.

I went the initiation room. It would've been suspicious if I hadn't.

For the next few hours, I watched people pass the test and be inserted with the mind control serum.

Just a little longer then it was showtime.

Gabriela's POV

The darkness lifted, easing me into consciousness.

"Hey honey, how are you feeling?" I looked up to see my dad. Am I dreaming or hallucinating?

"Dad?" He nodded, taking my hand into his. I looked behind him to see my mom, a swollen belly underneath her blue shirt.

"Mom?" She smiled, walking closer.

"What am I doing here?"

"Eric brought you here. Something is going down over at Dauntless," my dad answered. I sat upright, immediately regretting it when a wave of nausea came over me.

My dad handed me a waste basket which I puked in for about five minutes.

"Morning sickness sucks," my mom commented, rubbing my back. The gesture was unusual since my mother wasn't very motherly.

"Is Eric coming back soon?" My parents sent looks to each other.

"What is it?!" I yelled.

"We aren't sure. He will most likely come back. We don't know when." I huffed back into my pillow.

"Am I living with you guys or.." I trailed off.

"You are. We'll have the babies share a room and you can have your old room back." I nodded, closing my eyes. I'm tired. So damn tired.
