《✓ I Chose Dauntless ↠ Eric Coulter | Divergent | #Wattys2015》Chapter 4

I groaned, a sliver of light cutting through my eyelids. It would have to be a lamp since there was no windows in our dorm. Then I realized I wasn't in my dorm but was right about the lamp.
I looked over to see Eric resting his cheek on my stomach, breathing deeply, an almost smile on his content face. I tried not to breath; I didn't want to destroy this perfect moment. Of course it was ruined when my stomach grumbled.
"Aw, shit. What happened last night?" Eric said, sitting up and putting his head into his hands, not even acknowledging me. I didn't even think he knew I was here.
He put his head up and saw me there. "We didn't do anything did we?" he asked. I shook my head. I was still a virgin. Lucky that I could still tell if I had sex or not. I wasn't sore and there wasn't any evidence.
"It would be nice to know what had happened last night," I said, looking down at a black shirt that must've been Eric's. He brushed a piece of my blonde hair back, fingering a spot on my neck.
"What are you doing?" I whispered, my breath becoming hitched. He chuckled, grabbing my hand and pulling me to a mirror over a desk. That's when I saw it: There was a huge hickey.
"Hey, I don't think I stayed in one place. My lips aren't that wide," he said, shrugging awkwardly. I rolled my eyes and looked around for my clothes. When I found them, I exchanged the shirt that only came to just below my underwear for a pair of black stretchy pants that hugged my now toned legs and a dark navy blue tank top.
"I better get back to training," I said, saluting him. He eyed me warily, and I could've swore I saw hurt flash in his eyes but I doubted it.

Eric followed close behind as I made my to the training room. There were many suggestive glances that the group sent us, including Hemy.
"Miss Henrietta, would you like to tell me what is so interesting?" snapped Four who looked to be in no mood for anyone. Our tardiness didn't help either.
"N-no, Four," she stuttered quickly. Four softened on just her before going back to his lesson. When Hemy turned Scarlet, I knew that something was up.
"This is the last day for the first stage, got it? Anyone below this line will be sent home." I looked up at the board, cringing when I saw that there was just one person below me before the line. I could easily drop below that today.
I raised my hand. "Let's say that something is-" I was cut off by Four.
"Did I say that you could speak?" I was taken aback by his behavior. Eric was usually like this, not him. I liked Four. I really did. That was beginning to change.
"Why are you being such a dick, Four?" Dumbstruck faces all reported to me that I may have been out of line.
Four undid his jacket, stepping out of it before dropping it dramatically. He stared down at me.
"Eric usually punishes people but I think I'll deal with you." He ushered me up onto the fighting mat. I sent a panicked look to Eric but he seemed to wait to see what was going to happen.
"Here's what's going to happen. If you can take me down, you'll stay above the line. If I take you out, you will be factionless. Got it?" I went to speak but was interrupted.
"Four, this isn't right?" Four laughed humorlessly.
"Right? If things were right, you wouldn't be leader right now, would you? Or do you not want your little fuck here not to know that? That I can kick your ass?" What the hell was wrong with him?

"Fine, Four. You want to settle this? I'll go in her place. You win, she and I both will be factionless. I win, she stays above the line and I will prove that I'm right for this position, not you. How about it?" Four looked down then nodded. Eric passed me on my way down, brushing his hand against my arm.
"I'm not going to lose," he whispered in my ear. I shivered from the close proximity of it and his warm breath.
"Ready?" Eric said, his arms up in a fighting pose, mirroring Four. Then the fighting began.
