It seemed to take forever for Kristin to get back to Nightfall. The entire ride she was anxious and kept asking Ethan what was going on since he'd be updated through mind link.

So far Ryder and three teams of fighters had arrived while the rogues were still there.

They tried counting how many there were, but they were all over the place.

Ethan said that Ryder told him there were about fifty rogues there, but most of them were running around and attacking as a distraction. He couldn't figure out what they wanted.

As Kristin neared the borders, a team of guards met them, surrounding the SUV.

"What's happening now?" She eagerly asked Ethan.

He stopped to think, "It's quieted down. Ryder thinks most of the rogues are gone, if not all.

"Is everyone okay?" she asked in worry, looking out the window at the guards following them.

"He hasn't told me," Ethan shook his head, "But they're at the pack building now," he hesitated, "In the prison."

"I want to go," she replied firmly.

Ethan nodded his head, going back to mind linking the pack.

They finally arrived at the building and Kristin quickly made her way inside.

"Luna," one of the guards said behind her.

She turned to see a girl about her age, maybe a little older.

"Here, take these," she held out a pair of clothes, "It's messy down there."

"Thanks," she said absentmindedly, taking the clothes to quickly go change. The only thing running through her mind was 'it's messy down there.'

Kristin ripped her dress off, sliding on the leggings and t-shirt.

Opening the bathroom door to hurry out, she was met with Ethan.

He had a pained expression on his face.

"What's wrong?" Kristin stood in front of him.

"The Alpha doesn't want you going down there anymore," he said, looking sick.

"Why? What happened?" she broke away to run over to the door to the prison. It was already wide open, the usual guards no where to be seen.

"Kristin," Ethan grabbed her hand, trying to hold her back.

She knew he felt bad for keeping her behind, but at that moment, all she wanted to do was go down there. She felt uneasy, like something was very wrong.

She easily ripped her hand out of Ethan's hold, "I have to see," she mumbled, walking down the steps.

Ethan remained at the top, not going after her.

She ran down the nightmarish halls, trying to keep breathing.

"Kristin!" she heard Ryder yell her name, angered that she had gotten down here.

She didn't reply. She didn't even look his way, because the sight in front of her was enough to knock the breath from her.

Blood. There was a lot of blood. It was everywhere, staining the floors, splattered over the walls—

Two bodies were laying on the ground, not moving. She could feel they were Nightfall's wolves. They were part of her pack— and they were dead.

A lot of other wolves stood around the area, some even slouched against the walls, all wounded. They were painfully waiting to heal, holding their injuries, sadly looking up at her.

She felt numb, she was frozen to her spot and couldn't move, couldn't even think.

Her eyes flew to the far wall, noticing what she had missed before. Chills ran down her spine as she read the words that had been written on the wall.

The worst part was that they were written with blood, the blood of Nightfall's wolves.

A sick feeling erupted in her stomach and she thought she would throw up.

She hardly registered that Ryder had walked up to her and was now holding onto her.

She was too busy staring at the blood stained wall, where the words This is just the beginning, were glaring back at her.

It was just five words, yet they felt sinister, causing her to stop her breath.

"Kristin," Ryder mumbled in her ear, "Breathe."

She finally tore her gaze from the wall, slowly looking around at the sight again.

She knew something else looked off, something else wasn't right.

"I didn't want you to see this," she heard Ryder's worried voice again.

"I had to," she whispered, looking at the cells. She fought the flashbacks off, trying to remain level headed.

"Are you okay?" Ryder held her closer to his chest.

"Where are the prisoners?" she mumbled out, glancing at the empty cells. They were all empty.

She knew what had happened now, yet she couldn't accept it in her mind. She needed Ryder to confirm it for her.

"The rogues freed all of them," Ryder clenched his jaw, trying to remain calm for Kristin's sake, "That was their plan all along."

Kristin nodded, feeling like she was going into shock. It was almost as if history was repeating itself in a weird, twisted way. In the prison with dead bodies and blood stains. She was frozen, and Ryder was holding her.

She felt claustrophobic, in this underground prison.

"Let's get out of here," Ryder muttered, wrapping his arm around her waist to support most of her weight.

She was surprised her legs started moving, walking back up the stairs, although she couldn't feel them.

When they reached the top, Ryder led her over to a couch, having her sit down.

She looked up to see Ethan worriedly glancing at her from behind Ryder.

He didn't look good, his skin was paper than usual and his brow was creased in worry.

She knew she probably didn't look much better, but she felt a pain in her chest because she knew everyone was worried about her.

"I'm okay," she looked over Ryder's shoulder, at Ethan.

He nodded, still staring at her.

She brought her eyes back to Ryder as he slid the coffee table closer and sat on the edge, his hands over her thighs.

"What's that?" she furrowed her brow, looking down at his side. For the first time she noticed his ripped clothes and blood stained shirt. It looked like fresh blood, and she felt a pain shoot through her at the sight. Now she really felt sick.

"I'm fine, Kristin," he gently lifted her chin so she'd stop staring down at his side.

"You're hurt," she said with a pained voice, reaching out towards his wound.

She wanted to lift his shirt to see how bad it was. If it was a regular injury it would have healed by now. She already knew it was bad since it was taking forever to heal.

Ryder caught her hand before she could lift his shirt, "It's healing," he assured.

"It's just like before," she mumbled, taking in a shaky breath.

She knew it killed Ryder to see her this way, and she tried to compose herself. She needed to calm down so she could help him figure out what to do now.

She took one last shaky breath, "I'm okay," she repeated, shaking her head.

Ryder brought his hands back to her thighs, sliding them up and down to help her calm down.

"What are we going to do?" she tried making her voice firm.

"I'm going to go talk with some of the guys about a plan," Ryder said cautiously.

"I'm coming," she locked eyes with him.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Ryder nodded and got up, holding his hand out for her.
