"Where are we going?" she asked, gripping onto his arm.

"You're going to bed," he stated, making her walk up the stairs.

"No, I want to talk to Evelyn first," she struggled to escape his hold.

"I'll be the only one talking to her," he replied darkly.

When they got to the door of his bedroom, Kristin reached out and held onto the door frame, refusing to let Ryder drag her in.

"Kristin let go, you're going to hurt yourself," Ryder replied, rolling his eyes.

"No. Let me go."

Losing his patience, he picked her up and walked over to the bed.

"Ow!" Kristin complained, after Ryder had tossed her on the bed.

"That didn't hurt," he crossed his arms, standing in front of her.

Kristin glared at him, trying to sit up.

"Stay here," Ryder pointed at her like she was a dog, before turning to walk away.

"Wait!" Kristin stumbled off the bed.

"Kristin, I told you to stay!" he replied frustratingly, picking her up to sit her on the bed again.

Kristin took this opportunity to hook her arms around his neck, not letting him go.

"What do you want?" he asked impatiently.

"Stay here," she struggled to pull him down with her.

She was now kneeling on the edge of the bed, reaching up so her hands could securely wrap around his neck.

"Of course this is the only time you want me to get in bed with you," he rolled his eyes, reaching up to pry her hands off of him.

"I want you to get into bed with me!" Kristin replied frantically, wanting to keep him from going downstairs to yell at Evelyn.

"Mhmm, sure you do," he removed her hands but she caught his hand before he could walk away and pulled.

Instead of pulling him towards her, she was pulled towards him.

"Kristin," he groaned, pushing her back onto the bed.

"You can't yell at her right now. At least wait until tomorrow." That way Kristin could think of a better way to stop him when she could think straight.

"She needs to be put in her place, Kristin. She's supposed to be guarding you, but instead she's f*cking drunk."

Kristin winced at his yelling, "So am I."

Ryder chuckled, "No you aren't."

Kristin scrunched her brows, "Yes."

"Let me guess, this is the first time you've drank?" Ryder walked back to her, raising his brow.

"No! I've been drunk a lot before." Despite being mad, she wrapped her arms around his neck again, making him lean forward.

"Sure you have," he shook his head, amused by her behavior.

"Come here," she whined, siting down and pulling him with her, so that he was leaning in front of her on his arms.

"You're so weird when you're intoxicated," Ryder muttered.

"I'm not intoxicated," she struggled to say the word.

Ryder snorted, "Okay."

Kristin felt herself leaning in and pulling him to her so she could kiss him. She hadn't expected to do this a minute ago, but now that's what she wanted.

She felt him slowly start to respond to the kiss, moving his lips with hers.

She let her hands tangle in his hair, trying to take back control of the kiss.

When she was almost sure she had gained control again, Ryder pulled back, making her frown.

"We can't do this," he sighed, trying to stand back up.

Kristin used all of her strength to pull him back down, surprising him by her actions.

"Why not?" she asked, confused. She thought she could distract him with this.

"You aren't drunk, but you're definitely not thinking straight."

"Says who?" she asked, annoyed that he wouldn't continue what they had been doing.

"Says me," he cracked into a smile when he saw her pout.

"But I want you," Kristin whined, trying to pull him closer.

"Wow, that's a first," he gave her a weird look, "Maybe you are drunk."

"Please stay here," she widened her eyes and stared up at him.

"Fine, I won't yell at Evelyn. But I do have to tell her to go home."

"Promise you won't yell at her?"

"Yes, Kristin," he rolled his eyes, making her let go of him.

A few minutes later he walked back upstairs, already changed into shorts.

Kristin let her eyes linger on his shirtless chest and abdomen, until he reached over to turn off the light.

Although she could see him walking over to the bed, it took a while for her eyes to adjust.

"What are you doing?" Kristin leaned over him as he laid back on the bed.

"We are sleeping."

"I'm not sleeping," Kristin argued, attempting to get out of bed.

Ryder sat up and tugged her back before she could escape.

"Yes you are. It almost two in the morning."

"I'm not tired," she turned to him, her eyes adjusting to see that he was sitting up against the headboard, watching her.

"Are you tired?" she asked, climbing towards him.

She climbed onto his lap when he didn't answer, smiling when she leaned in to see his expression.

He was looking at her as if she had three heads, surprised at her actions.

"What?" she asked, getting comfortable by straddling his waist.

"You're acting crazy."

"Are you tired?" she repeated the question.

Ryder hesitated before answering, "No."

Kristin took this chance to lean in, moving her lips against his again.

Ryder hesitantly moved his hands to her waist, responding to the kiss.

After letting Kristin have somewhat control over their kiss, Ryder began taking over, moving his tongue past her parted lips.

Kristin felt like she should be thinking about what they were doing, but the alcohol in her system told her to relax and just go with it. If this is what she wanted, then she could do it.

After a couple more minutes, Kristin started running her hands through his hair, letting out a moan when he bit on her lip.

Ryder huffed, and lowered his head, pulling away.

Kristin moved her mouth to his jaw, kissing him more.

"Kristin," Ryder groaned.

"Hmm?" she asked, sliding her hands down his muscular chest.

"We have to go to sleep," he forced out.

She ignored him, focusing on her hands moving over his chest and down to his abs.

"Kristin, stop," his voice sounded like he didn't really want her to stop.

He grabbed her hands and held them between them.

Kristin couldn't help but pout, "Why are you so mad?"

Ryder looked at her for a minute before sighing, "I have good reasons."

"Really? And those are?" she scrunched her brows.

"The rogues trespassed again. This time they attacked the guards doing rounds."

It took a moment for his words to make sense to her.

"What? Is everyone okay?" Kristin widened her eyes.

Ryder nodded, "They got away before anyone could catch them again. That's why your guard needs to be on full alert, all the time. It's their job."

"Evelyn was just—" Kristin was about to make an excuse for her when Ryder interrupted her.

"If the rogues would have made it passed our boarders they could have gotten to you," he shook his head.

"But they didn't," she shrugged, knowing she wasn't making it any better.

Ryder gave her a flat look, "Now you know why I'm giving you an actual guard."

Kristin didn't like the finality in his voice.

"Ryder—"

He shook his head and picked her up off his lap.

She still wanted to argue with him. Although Evelyn messed up, she still wanted her as a guard. She knew something like this wouldn't happen again.

She sat in silence for a few minutes trying to think of a good argument.

When she felt her eyelids getting heavy, she decided to wait for the morning to continue their conversation.
