Ryder didn't look like he liked this idea.

"Your guard can't just be anyone Kristin," he scolded.

Kristin removed her hands from his neck and took a step back to cross her arms.

"I won't pick just anyone. I'll chose a fighter," she smiled.

Ryder shook his head, knowing where she was going with this, "Evelyn is not going to be your guard."

"Why not? Because she's a girl?" Kristin accused.

"You need someone more experienced. Someone who doesn't get into trouble all the time."

"So you want me to have a male guard?" she asked, already knowing what to say.

Ryder frowned at her wording, "I want you to have a strong experienced guard."

"I should have known," she groaned, shaking her head.

"What?"

"You're sexist," she frowned.

Ryder gave her a look that said 'stop being dramatic', "Just because a male guard happens to be more qualified to guard a Luna than a female, doesn't mean I'm sexist."

"Yes it does."

"No it doesn't," he argued.

"Fine," Kristin sighed, thinking of another idea to try.

"Fine what?"

"I'll have a male guard, if that's what you want?"

Ryder looked at her suspiciously, not replying.

"I'm just surprised you want me to be alone with a guy," she casually replied, focusing her attention on her phone.

"I'm their Alpha. They won't do anything," he narrowed his eyes.

She shrugged, "If you say so..."

"I'll give you two guards then," he added, thinking over her words. Kristin knew the guards wouldn't do anything, she just wanted to see if she could make Ryder jealous by implying she'd be alone with other guys. So far it was working.

"Sure, the more the better," she winked at him, biting her lip to stop laughing.

"Stop," he said, unamused.

Kristin smiled up at him, while he glared down at her.

"If Evelyn is your guard, I'm only going to give her one chance," he warned.

Her smile grew.

"Okay, bye," she was eager to leave now that she could take Evelyn with her.

Ryder held her in place, "I'm serious, Kristin. If she lets something happen, I'm giving you my own guards."

"Of course," she rolled her eyes at him.

He gave her a flat look, probably waiting for her to act serious.

"Can I go now?"

He sighed, "Yes."

"Stop worrying Ryder, nothing will happen," she didn't realize her going to town would make a huge deal. Of course with the rogues around it could be dangerous, yet she'd be in public among many other humans.

"Evelyn's on her way," he said after mind linking, "Don't do anything crazy."

"What would I possibly do in town that's considered crazy?" she laughed.

"Just go," he rolled his eyes.

When Evelyn pulled up she was grinning from ear to ear.

"The Luna's guard, at your service!"

"Hey," Kristin laughed.

"How did you manage to have Ryder agree to this? When he mind linked me, I thought it was a joke," she laughed as they drove away.

"I have my ways," Kristin smiled, earning another laugh from Evelyn.

The drive to town was fun. Kristin didn't really have anything she wanted to do, she just wanted to get away from packs and into the human city to take her mind off her worries. Evelyn and her decided to go eat somewhere and then walk around the mall.

It wasn't until eight pm that they got back, and Evelyn dropped Kristin off at Ryder's house.

Walking into the living room, she found Ryder talking on the phone. He glanced at her and said, "We'll talk later," into the phone before hanging up.

"Who was that?" Kristin asked, suspiciously.

"Nothing," he replied walking over to her, "Have fun?" he nodded to the bag she was carrying from the mall.

"Yes I did, great way of changing the subject," she set the bag down, now noticing the boxes that were stacked by the wall.

"What's this?"

"They finally brought over the rest of our stuff from that house," he nodded to the boxes.

"Really? I completely forgot about that," she walked over and opened one of the boxes, forgetting all about telling Ryder she had been right about nothing happening in town. The box was full of her clothes she had brought to the arrangement house.

She spotted a smaller box inside and opened it, revealing the 'engagement' ring she had been wearing to fake their 'upcoming wedding'.

"Here you go," she walked over to Ryder on the couch.

He took the box from her hand, opening it to reveal the beautiful ring.

"It's crazy to think I haven't been in that house since everything happened," Kristin said, remembering when she initially found out she would have to live with Ryder.

"Yeah, you ran away," Ryder shut the box and set it on the table.

"Because you lied to me," she shot back, although she knew Ryder was teasing her.

She sat on the couch beside him, "You said we weren't mates, remember?"

Ryder smirked, "Did I?"

"Yeah, I thought I had to live with some random guy that whole time. How do you think I felt? My parents agreed to 'arranging' us!"

"Your parents thought we were mates so it made sense to them. Plus this random guy doesn't sound so bad," he leaned closer to her.

"He was actually a jerk," she raised a brow, trying to ignore the familiar 'bond' feelings whenever they were close.

Ryder scrunched his brows, "I wasn't a jerk."

"Yes you were," Kristin tried not to get distracted with his close proximity, "You hated my friends."

"Please tell me you're not talking about Alex," he muttered, closing his eyes.

"Alex was my friend. At least I thought so," she trailed off, sighing.

"You should've listened to me. I knew something was up."

"Well you were a jerk, so I couldn't trust you."

"But you trusted a complete stranger? You knew Alex for two seconds before you invited him over."

"How was I supposed to know something wasn't right? I just thought you were jealous of him," she shrugged.

"You kissed him!"

Kristin had forgotten about that. But of course Ryder hadn't.

"Yeah because I liked him," she cringed while saying those words, her lie was terrible.

"No, you did it in front of me to make me jealous. I wasn't stupid," he scrunched his brows.

"I didn't know we were mates."

"So. You still wanted to make me jealous."

"No. If I remember correctly, you were being a jerk so I kissed him to prove my point."

"Prove what point? I almost killed him," he clenched his jaw.

"You shouldn't be mad. You told me we weren't mates so I could kiss whoever I wanted."

As soon as she was finished with her sentence, Ryder leaned in to connect their lips.

His kiss was rough, trying to show his dominance. Kristin tried keeping up, enjoying the feeling of his lips against hers.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer to her.

Ryder pulled away much to her disappointment, but she tried hiding it.

"What'd you do that for," she asked breathlessly.

"Because we're mates," he replied, still looking upset, "And I'm a much better kisser than Alex."

Chapter 46!

I know this is a weird place to end this chapter but I'll work on it more this week and maybe update a longer one before Monday.

(Voting gives me motivation to write. And by that I mean it makes me procrastinate on my actual work for college lol.)

Thanks for reading and supporting!
