Evelyn arrived shortly with a bag full of clothes for Kristin.
"I didn't know what you would like so I threw a bunch of different odds and ends in there," she handed the bag to Kristin.
"Wow, thanks a lot Evelyn. I can't believe you're doing this for me," Kristin pulled out some simple shorts with a top and walked over to the bathroom.
"No problem Kristin. We're basically family anyway," she laughed.
Kristin closed the bathroom door before Evelyn could see her blush.
The way she had been eyeing Kristin and Ryder told her she thought something else was going on between them.
Kristin changed quickly and french braided her wet hair before she walked back into the living room.
"You're so annoying," she heard Ryder mutter from the couch.
Evelyn rolled her eyes, changing the conversation when she saw Kristin.
"Thanks again," Kristin gave her a smile.
"No big deal. By the way, we should totally hang out some time, it'd be fun."
"We should," Kristin agreed, smiling.
"I need to get to know my cousin's mate better," she grinned, "Alright, I'll see you guys later. Gotta go kick some a*ss."
"What?" Kristin asked once Evelyn had left.
Ryder rolled his eyes, "Its fighter training. Evelyn thinks she's all that because she's in the top of her group."
"She's training to be a fighter?" Kristin wondered, thinking it was very rare to see a girl among the pack's fighters. Their training was long and hard, bringing out the toughest and strongest to the top.
Not that females couldn't handle it, they were just built differently. Most females would train to be trackers if they wanted to be involved with defending the pack.
"She's already a fighter. She trains others," Ryder got up from the couch and motioned for her to follow him.

Damn, Evelyn was literally the definition of badass girl power.
Kristin slowly followed after him, noticing his annoyed expression.
"She kicked your butt, didn't she?"
"What?" Ryder's eyebrows knitted together when he faced her.
"That's why you're low key bitter at her, right? Because she's a girl and she--"
"Seriously stop talking," Ryder gave her a fake- scowl.
Or was it real?
Kristin grinned at him, "So she did?"
Ryder ignored her and continued to walk towards his car.
"I wish I could've seen that," Kristin said as she got into the passenger seat.
"It would have been hard for you to see it because it never happened," Ryder gave her a flat look.
"Mhmm," Kristin murmured, not sounding convinced.
When they arrived at her pack, Ryder parked outside of Kristin's house.
"Kristin!" her mother exclaimed, surprised to see her walk through the door.
"Hey, mom."
"And Ryder. It's nice to see you both," her mother smiled at Ryder who was standing behind her.
"Nice to see you too," he nodded, "Is the Alpha around, by chance?"
"He just got back from the pack building, he should be upstairs," she motioned for him to go, "And Ryder, call him John. You're an Alpha now too."
"Thanks Amelia," he left Kristin standing in the kitchen to go upstairs.
"How are things over there?" Amelia asked her daughter.
Kristin sighed, "Its a lot to take in. I had my first meeting and met the beta and third in command."
"That's great, Kris. At times it might seem overwhelming, but just know that packs truly love and support their Luna through everything."
Kristin knew her pack adored her mother as their Luna. She just couldn't bring herself to think the same of Nightfall. Mostly because she hadn't met hardly any of them. However she had a feeling they wouldn't be so welcome and kind.

"I don't know, mom. Nightfall's different."
"It's just because you haven't gotten to know them yet," her mother wrapped an arm around her shoulders, "When I first came to Spirit Moon, I was beyond terrified. I mean, I didn't even know about werewolves until your father showed up one day telling me we were mates."
"That's rough," Kristin smiled, making her mom shake her head.
"Yes it was. But once I got introduced to the pack and began meeting everyone and getting involved, it was so much better. It's a big family, and like Spirit Moon is your family, Nightfall will soon be too."
Kristin tried leveling her breathing at her mother's comforting, yet overwhelming words.
"You'll be lucky, you'll have two huge families that love you. I know Nightfall will embrace you as their Luna."
She pulled away to look at Kristin.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, fine. Just anxious about the whole Luna thing," she replied, being honest.
She tried to level her breathing and reverse the heaviness that was on her chest.
"I'm going to go pack some of my stuff to bring over there," she gave her mom a smile before walking upstairs.
Just as she turned the corner down the hallway she almost ran into Ryder.
His hands shot out to catch her so she wouldn't fall.
"I have to go," he said, looking somewhat serious besides the fact he had almost knocked her over.
"What? Why?" Kristin grabbed his arm before he could escape downstairs.
"Rogues," Ryder turned to look at her and she let go of his arm.
"Is it bad?" she hesitantly asked.
"It's the same ones as last time," he clenched his jaw, annoyed that they were messing with his pack.
"I'll come back after we get them," he said as he left down the stairs.
Kristin watched Ryder disappear and wondered if he was acting like everything was fine for the sake of her anxiety.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
