Kristin felt like she was dying.
She couldn't breathe, her head hurt, and she could hear her heart trying to pound its way out of her chest.
She didn't know what was happening, she had never felt this much pain and anxiety in her life.
She was surprised she still had tears left, since she could still feel them running down her cheeks, onto the ground.
Her eyes flew open as she heard the sound of a howl.
Echoing down the hallway, the sound filled the empty cells.
Soon after, a large black wolf flew down the hallway, running right for Kristin's cage.
She remained curled in a ball, not caring if the wolf wanted to hurt her.
The wolf halted in front of her cell, its nose smelling the dried blood on the ground.
It's eyes flew to Kristin, and realization hit her.
Before she could say anything, men started running into the room, cornering the wolf and Kristin.
Rickard walked in behind them, a stern look on his face.
"Well, well, well," he spoke, looking at the wolf.
The wolf growled the most loud, terrifying growl Kristin had ever heard in her life.
"Now, that's not the proper way to greet your father, is it?"
Suddenly the wolf shifted, a tall man with dark hair, standing in its place.
Kristin had never seen Gabriel this angry before.
She didn't think it was possible for someone to be filled with so much anger, she could even feel it.
He stood there, hands in fists, his entire body shaking with rage.
"Where is she?" he growled out.
"Ah," Rickard nodded, looking to Kristin, "I think Kristin here, can answer that for you."
Gabriel's eyes briefly flitted to Kristin, they were completely pitch black.
Kristin slowly sat up, opening her mouth to say something, a choked sob coming out instead. She couldn't say out loud what happened to Jess.
Gabriel snapped his head back to Rickard, "You're covered in her blood."
Rickard nodded, looking down at his blood-stained hands and shirt.
"Come on, Gabriel. I know you know she's gone."
Gabriel growled, Kristin's hands flew to her ears to block out the loudness.
She swore the room shook.
"Soon, it'll be your own blood," he spat out, "Ryder's on his way, with more men than you could ever imagine," Gabriel said, his voice void of emotion.
He looked dead inside, it was like he transformed into someone else.
"We are going to destroy you, and everyone who is with you."

"You're too late, son," Rickard replied, his eyes darkening, "I killed your mate."
Gabriel's huge black wolf appeared in seconds, charging Rickard.
Five or six of Rickard's men shifted to attack Gabriel, not letting him reach his father just yet.
Kristin wanted so badly to look away, she didn't want to watch anymore people die.
However, her eyes stayed glued to Gabriel's wolf.
He was viscous, easily snapping wolves' necks with his mouth.
A few times, other wolves would injure him, but he kept going, not phased.
He killed all of the men who were with Rickard in just seconds.
Now it was just the two, Gabriel stopped to snarl at Rickard before charging.
Rickard shifted into his silver wolf, almost the same height as Gabriel.
Yet, Gabriel seemed to overpower Rickard with his anger, letting his wolf completely take over.
The sound of teeth and claws making contact echoed throughout the room.
Kristin didn't know how long she sat there watching the pair fight. It felt like hours, but was probably just seconds.
Gabriel was strong, but so was Rickard. So far the fight could have gone either way.
Kristin gasped when more men suddenly flooded into the room, shifting to attack Gabriel.
Now it was Gabriel's wolf against almost twenty others.
Kristin started to get a bad feeling in her stomach as she watched a wolf jump on Gabriel's back, biting his neck.
His wolf growled loudly and swung its body so that the wolf on top flew off and hit a nearby wall, going still.
Although he was trying to fight off the other wolves around him, Gabriel was able to reach Rickard's wolf to bite into its neck.
Rickard's wolf let out a snarl and twisted itself out of Gabriel's hold, swiping his claws across Gabriel's face.
By this time, both Rickard and Gabriel's fur was covered in each other's blood.
The remaining other wolves, seemed to back of suddenly, as if getting an order from Rickard.
Now, both of their wolves were barring their teeth, glaring at each other.
It looked to Kristin, like they were communicating through their mind link, Gabriel's wolf letting out a growl every once in a while.
Finally, the stare off was ended when one of Rickard's wolves off to the side charged at Gabriel, who had been distracted by Rickard.
He was caught off guard, and let out a howl of pain as the wolf sank its teeth into his neck.
Gabriel's wolf collapsed to the ground, growling fiercely.
Rickard stepped closer, closing in on his prey.

Gabriel tried standing up, but collapsed again, his wound not healing fast enough.
His fur was soaked in his own blood, and he was struggling to move away from Rickard.
Kristin had never seen such a bloody, violent fight between two wolves in her entire life.
She was back to gripping the cell bars, not moving her gaze from the two wolves.
Rickard's silver wolf pounced on Gabriel, pinning him down.
Before Kristin knew what was happening, Rickard growled loudly as he slashed his claws through the black wolf's throat, finishing him off.
Kristin's eyes widened and she started hyperventilating again.
She watched Gabriel's wolf shift back to his human form, even more blood flowing from his neck.
He was dead.
Rickard shifted back to his human form himself, falling to his knees.
Kristin noticed how he appeared weaker, the injuries from Gabriel weighing him down.
His men tried helping him up, but he shook them off.
"I'm fine!" he snapped, slowly getting to his feet.
His neck had a nasty gash from where Gabriel's wolf had bit him. He also had more bite and claw marks on his body, blood seeping through the wounds.
"I just need a minute to heal," he said, talking more to himself.
Kristin couldn't believe what she had just witnessed.
Rickard had just murdered his own son.
Her vision was going blurry as she struggled to stay conscious.
Her head was pounding and she felt sick to her stomach at the sight of all the blood.
She tried not to look at Gabriel's body, but her eyes took in his lifeless form.
She slowly laid down on her side, wanting the darkness to take her away from this reality.
She didn't know what was happening to her, but she knew she didn't want to stay conscious any longer.
She had seen enough death.
"I'm going to f*cking make you pay for this!" a voice made Kristin snap her eyes open again, trying to fight off the darkness so she could see.
Through the bars, and her blurry vision, was a tall figure standing in front of Rickard, with about thirty men standing behind, looking ready to fight.
"Ryder," Kristin whispered, recognizing him.
His head snapped in her direction, his eyes widening once he realized she was lying in a cell.
"What the f*ck did you do to her?" he yelled at his father, his body starting to shake.
"Ryder, let's talk about this," Rickard replied, forcing out a sinister smile.
"No, I'm done listening to you," Ryder growled, "I'm here to finish Gabriel's work."
"Ah, you know what will happen once you kill me, don't you?" Rickard grinned evilly at his son, "I know you don't want this."
"I don't care, you deserve to die."
And with those last words from Ryder, he shifted into his wolf, closing the distance between them.
Rickard managed to shift just as Ryder jumped on him, slamming him to the ground.
Ryder stomped his paw down on Rickard's throat, his sharp claws just inches away.
It took everyone by surprise when Rickard shifted back into his human form, Ryder soon following after.
Rickard was gasping for breath from Ryder's hand that was around his neck, choking him.
He seemed to realize what was about to happen as he tried to speak.
"You wouldn't kill your father would you Ryder?" he choked out.
Ryder stared down at him, tightening his hold.
"You haven't been my father in over three years," he spit out, retracting his claws and slitting his throat.
For the third time that day, Kristin watched the blood spill from the dead body under Ryder.
She rested her head back onto the ground, finally giving into the darkness that awaited her.
"Kristin!" she heard a voice that sounded really far away, yell.
She tried opening her eyes, squinting at the face that was inches from hers.
"Kristin, stay with me!" Ryder yelled again, yet his voice sounded muffled to Kristin.
He picked her up off of the ground, holding her limp body in his arms.
"Come on Kristin, keep your eyes open!"
She tried to keep her eyes open for Ryder, but her eyelids were too heavy.
"Ryder," she tried saying, not sure if she was actually speaking.
She weakly grabbed his shirt, wondering when he had put it on.
"Shh I've got you," he said, tightening his grip.
"Ryder... I... know," she tried saying, but her voice was only a whisper.
If anything happened, she wanted Ryder to know that she knew about them.
That she knew they were mates.
"It's okay, Kristin, it's over," he replied, not understanding what she was trying to say.
Kristin used the last of her strength to keep her eyes open as she took a small breath in.
"I know," she whispered, trying to communicate her thoughts to him through their stare.
She then let her eyes close, as she slipped into the unyielding darkness.
