《Seventeen One-Shots》-5- Joshua Revised

"Why do I have to be here?" You pouted to yourself as you got off the school bus and stood in front of a renowned conference hall. You had been duped into taking your friend's spot in a speaking competition and you had a phobia of public speaking. You took a deep breath and examined your official dress to make sure you weren't disgracing the uniform in any way whatsoever.

One of your teammates stood next to you. Him being absolutely gorgeous didn't calm your nerves in any way at all. "You'll be fine." He smiled down at you. "Thanks Josh but I doubt that I will. I'm feeling nauseous." You pouted, holding your stomach. "You have an hour to practice and calm down. I believe in you...so chill." Your unprofessional teacher said to you.

You shook the nerves away as you were handed a clipboard with the speech you were supposed to give. You read over it over and over again until you felt like you could say it backwards.

You stressed about delivering the speech until you thought your hair was falling out. You paced back and forth reciting your speech and sweating about going on stage.

It was finally time for you to go on. You took a deep breath and walked on stage after Josh grabbed you by the shoulders and told you you'd do great.

You took the stage and took a deep breath. Throughout your whole speech you felt like you were stuttering and stammering. You thought you were mumbling and pausing to much. You put your head down in disappointment when you finished...To your surprise...Everyone stood up to cheered and clapped. You jerked your head up and smiled brightly. You looked over to the judges to see your results.

A perfect score.

You were in shock.

You walked off stage and were immidiatly glomped by your team members, all of them chanting about how they knew you could do it.

Your category finished and everyone went out for lunch.

Everyone went to a convenient store and bought food. They all walked ahead of you, talking about competition stuff that you didn't quite understand. You walked behind them, listening intently when Josh slowed down and started walking beside you. "You know...Nobody on this team has ever gotten a perfect score...in anything. " He smiled at you. "Beginners luck." You laughed modestly. "You're remarkable." He winked at you, practically forcing a blush upon your cheeks.

"How about you and me get dinner after competition is over." "Isn't that what everyone is gonna do?" You questioned his intellect momentarily. "I meant just you and me." He laughed. "Sounds nice." You said quietly.

I found my diary from Junior year and read through it only to realize I was never single after the second semester...I low-key feel very ashamed of myself but then again most of them were just 2 week long internet 'relatiomships'.
