《Seventeen One-Shots》(1)|Vernon| (REVISED)

You were hanging out at work while your best friend was trying to convince you to let her use your employ discount.
"Just this once! Please! I really need this!" She pleaded with you while clutching a blue t-shirt. "You want the Vans logo." You corrected. "That's not true!" She yelled. You gave her the 'you know that isn't true' look and continued straightening out all the shelves and merchandise.
A small group of boys you went to school with walked in and you greeted them. "(Y/n)! You work here!? Since when?!" Jun yelled. You held a finger to your lips. "Inside voices." You whispered. They looked around for awhile. Your friend kept pleading with you about the shirt. You kept denying her your discount. "If you don't let me use your discount... I'll... I'll... I'll tell you know who you know what!" She threatened. Your heart dropped. "Don't you dare." You said through gritted teeth. "He's right over there. I'll do it." "I can't give you my discount! I'll get fired!" You whined. "Vernon!" She yelled walking over to him. You ran and hid behind the cash register. "What're you doing weirdo?" Mingyu asked, ready to check out. He got a pair of shoes and a skate board. "You wanna get an extra set of wheels? They're on sale." You suggested. He nodded and left to retrieve a set of spair wheels.
Vernon came over to the register and sat on the counter next to you. "Guess who applied here last week." He smiled at you. "Who?" You asked already knowing the answer. "Me. Guess who starts here today." "Today?" You asked in disbelief. Your manager walked out. "Yeah...I need you to work a double today." Your manager said. "Alright." You said blankly. Mingyu came back with his wheels. "Mingyu...if you wanna be a good friend...you'd buy a tech deck too." You smiled sweetly and motioned to a tech deck display. He laughed and grabbed a tech deck. "Thank you!"

The guys left, except for Vernon. Your manager came out again and threw a lanyard and name tag at him. "Vernon. Put that on. (Y/n). Train him." The manager huffed and left. "He always like that?" "Short and straight to the point." You nodded.
And so orientation begins. "Okay...work here is basic. Walk around every now and again to fix displays, redress manicans every few days, help customers when they flag you down and just stay chill and enjoy the music." You smiled switching a few misplaced shirts around. "Sounds easy enough. (Y/bff/n) told me a juicy secret." Vernon said smirking at you. Your cheeks turned bright red. "She said you were super hyped about me workin with you." He said burning a hole into your soul with his gaze. "I-i-i am." You stuttered, avoiding eye contact. "He knows. I'm gonna kill myself." You cringed to yourself.
"Aww! I can't take it! You're to cute when you blush!" He laughed, acting like a fanboy. He only made your cheeks a darker crimson. "Look at me." He said spinning you around. "Your face is super red. I guess I should stop teasing you and confess already."
He laughed as your soul exited your body.
I remember the day I wrote this. I was sitting in the restroom of the AG Barn at my school, hiding from my scary ag teacher who was going around yelling at everything and everyone lol.

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.

Discovering Magic
“Venture into your mind and into a new world, one where there is Magic. Magic that is nascent and unexplained, one where you can be the one to Discover it, by delving dark dungeons or examining magical Beasts, by studying ancient scrolls or by finding lost gods, your Imagination is the only limit.” This is what Mike thought he was getting into when he lay down to play a new VR game, but fate had another thing in store for him, he was whisked away to a new world in another Dimension, with an AI fused to his body that refuses to let him treat this world as a game, all the while trying to make it as much like a game as it can. The only Objective he is given is to Discover Magic as he learns to survive and live in this new world, doing the best he can to not die, or even worse. *** Hi All! This is my story, it has been brewing in my mind in various forms for years. It will be rough, this is the first story I have written in a long time, so please help me make it as great as it can be! It is a High Fantasy adventure/Isekai LitRpg, it will have action and adventure, levels and dungeons, Elves, Dwarves and Gods. It is not a Virtual Reality story, though it will touch on some topics of artificial intelligence. The core focus of the story is going to be the discovery and deep delve in the magic system and fantastical elements of the world. Mana is used so often in LitRPG's but how often is it explained what mana is, magic is used in fantasy, but how often do you understand what it feels like. Magical races like Elves, Dwarves etc. often exist in stories, but why do they exist? and what truly makes them different from Humans and from each other? What is a God and where did they come from? These are the sort of topics that I want to really dive into in this series, all through the lens of a progression focused LitRPG. Thanks for reading!
