《The Nerd and The Frog》Midnight

The rest of the evening went along as normal as it possibly could, most people talking about what had just transpired amongst themselves, but decided to try and enjoy the homecoming dance while they had time to do so. The Homecoming Queen and King had been announced, it having been a pair of upperclassmen that everyone had voted for. After that, the rest of the evening was dancing and socializing, a couple of hours having gone by since the whole ordeal.

Alan stayed within his group, no one having suspected that it was referring to him in the recording. The one thing out of that whole situation that really shocked him was the appearance of Jonathan. When he had a moment after dancing with her, he pulled Nicolette off to grab a drink on the other side of the gymnasium.

"How the fuck were you able to get Jonathan here?" Alan asked her, still shocked by the entire scene.

"All I had to do was shoot him an email and tell him I had everything recorded." Nicolette answered after taking a drink. "He didn't believe me at first, and almost told me to fuck off. But, when I sent him a snippet of it, he immediately replied back, asking what I wanted to do." She finished, a smile on her face.

"You are amazing. I love you, you know that, right? I would totally have your babies." Alan said in awe, his eyes shining with adoration.

"I mean, I know I'm awesome." She said with a whip of her hair, tossing it over her shoulder before striking a confident pose. "Honestly, it was pretty easy to bribe the DJ, considering he's the older brother of one of my photography friends. But, I told you that I wouldn't let that asshole bother you anymore. All I needed was the word, and I could get it done. Granted, I wasn't expecting you to come up with this type of a plan to expose him during an all school dance. That's pure fucking genius."

"I don't know... there was just something about the last time I encountered him. When you told me what he had done after Jonathan had pretty much tortured me, it was like my mind just snapped into action." Alan admitted, rather surprised at his own thoughts. "I was... tired of being messed with and I wanted to end it."

"I think you solved that issue pretty well." Nicolette said, rubbing his back in a reassuring fashion.

"I couldn't have done it without you, Nikki. I owe you so much." Alan replied, a warm smile on his face.

"Of course, Allie. I mean, you could always take me out to dinner to repay me, but your trust and friendship is also just as good." Nicolette teased, only to see Alan side-eye her playfully. "Let's head back over. I wanna get a few more dances in before I head out with Manny."

"Where are you two going afterwards?" Alan asked, curious as he walked alongside her.

"He wants to go and grab a late dinner, as we didn't have a lot to eat before we got ready. You know how my family is." Nicolette proclaimed with a roll of her eyes.

"Yep. Your dad is overprotective as hell and your mom probably cried happy tears because 'her baby is growing up so fast!'" Alan joked, only to see Nicolette groan in annoyance.

"Also, I forgot to say it earlier, but you look fabulous in that suit. Where did you get it? It really looks good on you." Nicolette asked, looking Alan over as she did so.

"Oh... um... Daniel... let me wear it." Alan answered, bashfully. He looked over to see Nicolette with an amused grin on her face. "Shut up. Don't you say a damn thing."

"You gonna repay him with your body for letting him dress you up in such a sexy fashion?" Nicolette teased, only to see Alan blush madly at the thought. "Does he even know?"

Alan refused to answer the question, which was a major giveaway considering his face was getting darker in color.

"Wait. Waitwaitwait..." Nicolette stopped walking, grabbing his arm as she did so. "Daniel KNOWS that you like him?"

Alan, once again, kept his mouth shut tight, but averted his gaze elsewhere.

"You sly ass bitch! When did this happen?! What did he fucking say?!" Nicolette exclaimed excitedly, but kept her voice low as to not draw attention.

"Nikki... Can I tell you all the details later?" Alan pleaded, not able to keep his composure the more she talked about it. "Just know that... it's good. It was a good result." He answered, not helping but to smile happily.

Out of nowhere, Nicolette reached over and wrapped him in a tight hug, not helping but to giggle in the process. "I'm soooo happy for you, Allie! You better tell me everything, you shady bitch." She teased, only to hear Alan laugh.

"I promise. I'll tell you about it tomorrow." Alan reassured her, returning the hug in the same manner.

"Wilson, what is this? You're stealing my date?"

They looked over in surprise to see Manny, his hands in his pockets as he saw them hugging, a playful smile on his face. Daniel was beside him, curious about the sudden affection.

"Ah, nope! She's all yours!" Alan replied with a laugh, letting Nicolette go and escorting her over to Manny playfully. "She just told me she wanted to dance a bit more before you guys head out."

"Oh really? You're not tired yet?" Manny asked, locking his arm within hers once she was by his side.

"Nah! I know I'm a bit nerdy, but I can dance my ass off! Let's go!" Nicolette proclaimed happily, walking along with him towards the crowd.

Alan watched his friend disappear into the crowd of dancing students, not helping but to smile contently as he did so.

"You don't want to dance anymore?" Daniel asked, walking over to stand near him, his hands resting in his pockets.

"I think I'm good. Nikki can dance for hours, and I don't know how she has all that energy." Alan said with a laugh, looking over towards Daniel as he spoke. "How about you?"

"Honestly, I'm done as well. I danced with a couple of classmates for a bit, but I don't think I want to do anymore." Daniel admitted with a smile of his own, his expression looking slightly tired. "Besides, I didn't realize it was actually getting close to midnight. The dance will be over pretty soon."

"Do you want to head out? I don't mind getting a head-start so we can beat everyone else." Alan offered, feeling exhausted with socializing himself.

"Sure. I'll say my goodbyes to teammates and a few friends, and I'll meet you outside near my car." Daniel stated, lightly touching Alan on the shoulder before he walked away, a warm smile on his face as he did so before he headed towards a group. Alan couldn't help but return the smile in the same fashion, trying his best to not be openly giddy at what was happening. He took the time to try and find Nicolette and Manny in the crowd, finding them dancing together before he said his goodbyes, giving Nicolette a parting hug and Manny a polite handshake, before leaving the crowd and making his way out of the exit.

He wasn't entirely sure if Daniel had made it outside or not, but he headed towards his car that was parked in the student parking lot. Lucky for them many other students were hanging around the entrance to wait for rides from parents and older siblings. The further along he walked back, the emptier it became. Once he reached the Lexus, he was surprised to not see Daniel there yet, wondering if he beat him outside of the gym.

"How do you keep beating me to my car, Moogle?" Daniel questioned as he walked up beside him, seeing Alan jump in surprise.

"God, wombat, you scared me!" Alan exclaimed, only to feel Daniel poke him in the side playfully.

"Really? You gonna call me that now?" Daniel asked, frowning as he walked to the driver's side door, the car unlocking once he pressed the key fob.

"I mean... it's cute." Alan teased, getting in the passenger's side as he did so.

"It's embarrassing. I wish my mother would not call me that." Daniel exclaimed with a sigh, placing his seatbelt on before he started the car. "Do you want to stop and get something to eat before I take you home?" Daniel offered, looking over as he did so.

"I think I'm ok, honestly. I'm still... trying to recover from what has gone down today." Alan admitted, his mind still taking everything in.

"Understandable. I seriously wasn't expecting that whole thing to happen earlier at the dance." Daniel proclaimed, shifting the car into drive as he began to leave the parking lot.

"Yeah... me neither..." Alan said hesitantly, averting his gaze out the window as he tried to contain his enthusiasm at the downfall of Thomas.

"However..." Daniel stated, his voice having shifted from calm to pensive. "Was... he talking about you?"

"Who?" Alan asked, looking over as he did so.

"Thomas. In the recording, he said 'Alan.' Was he referencing you?" Daniel asked, glancing over to look Alan in the face as he continued to drive, exiting the school grounds.

Alan paused before speaking, wondering if he should confirm it or hide that information from Daniel entirely. "...Yes. He was talking about me." He admitted, his eyes drifting off to look out the window as they drove, his demeanor having become somber. "It was something that happened in middle school and it was... horrible."

"I understand if you don't want to tell me about it." Daniel spoke gently, sensing that Alan was uncomfortable with the topic.

"I would like to tell you about it, but maybe not tonight." Alan replied, a small smile on his face. "I... want to enjoy our time together right now."

"Ok, Moogle. Whenever you want to talk about it, I'll listen." Daniel offered, smiling himself.

"Thanks..." Alan spoke, leaning into the passenger's seat comfortably, not helping but to observe how Daniel drove the car, watching him shift gears as he did so. "How... are you feeling, by the way?"

"What do you mean?" Daniel asked, curious.

"I mean... a lot happened today. A shit-ton, actually." Alan added, hearing Daniel laugh. "I guess, I'm just wondering how you're... feeling. You're always asking me how I'm doing and making sure I'm ok, but I just want to do the same." he continued, giving a small shrug afterwards.

"Well..." Daniel stated, taking a moment to gather his thoughts as he rounded a corner, shifting gears once again. "I'm overwhelmed, but... very happy." he admitted, a smile slowly appearing on his face. "I'm not turning into a frog randomly anymore."

"That's one major win for the day." Alan interjected with a grin, hearing Daniel chuckle before he continued.

"I admitted to someone that I like them." Daniel proclaimed, glancing over to Alan as he continued driving, only to see Alan look over at him, his face red in color. "And, to my surprise... he likes me back."

"Surprise, he says..." Alan muttered bashfully, his eyes averting to the floor. He glanced up to see that they were already outside of his house, Daniel having parked next to the curb in the street. "Oh, that was fast..."

"You don't live too horribly far from the school. That, and there's no traffic this late at night." Daniel replied, placing the car into park as they sat.

"Oh, it's already 11:58pm, I didn't realize it was this late." Alan stated, looking over towards the radio clock.

"Do you turn into a pumpkin at midnight or something?" Daniel teased, seeing Alan playfully frown.

"No, but who knows? Maybe you'll turn into a frog again." Alan joked back with a smirk, only to see Daniel's eyes widen in shock.

"Hey, don't say that." Daniel quickly shot back, a worried expression on his face as he glanced at the clock seeing it turn 11:59pm. "That would suck."

"I'm just saying, we really don't know how this all works. Maybe you will, maybe you won't. Maybe that witch had something up her sleeve before we ended her." Alan spoke with a shrug, his hands up in the air as he grinned, looking over to see that the clock had turned midnight. "Well, let's see what happens-"

Without much warning, Daniel reached over and grabbed Alan's face gently, before pulling him into a kiss. It was slow, but sensual as their lips pressed together for a few seconds before Daniel broke the kiss carefully. Alan stared back at him in silence, his hands still in the air from his previous joke, his eyes now wide in shock. "I don't know... I seem fine so far." Daniel joked softly, an amused grin on his face as he watched Alan's expression.

Having come to his senses at Daniel's remark, Alan reached over to pull Daniel back in for another kiss, his arms finding their way around Daniel's neck as he felt hands finding their way into his hair. A soft sigh escaped him, a mixture of excitement and anxiousness flowing through him as they continued, their kisses progressing from slow, simple and innocent, to deeper and sensual. However, Daniel paused, before breaking the kiss and slowly pulling away, much to Alan's disapproving noise.

"Sorry... but we should probably stop..." Daniel spoke softly, his eyes averting towards something behind Alan, his expression somewhat amused.

Confused, Alan turned to look in the direction Daniel was staring at, only to look away in embarrassment as he could see his entire family looking from the living room window in curiosity as they stared at Daniel's car.

"I'm so damn glad the lights are off in this car..." Alan grumbled in annoyance, his back to the window as he heard Daniel chuckle, pressing their foreheads together gently.

"It's fine... I should probably let you go, since it is late." Daniel spoke softly, only to hear Alan sigh in disappointment.

"I... finally get to make-out with you, and it gets cut short because of my ridiculous family." Alan muttered, a hand reaching up to gently tug at Daniel's tie.

"Who says you can't do it again another time?" Daniel asked playfully, seeing Alan smirk in response. "How about this: are you busy tomorrow?"

"I have some homework to do... but I can finish it early. Why?" Alan asked, curious.

"We could... do our homework together... and maybe spend the rest of the day together..." Daniel offered, seeing Alan's eyes light up in excitement. "Unless, you have too much homework."

"Shut your beautiful mouth." Alan shot back, only to hear Daniel laugh. "What time should I be ready tomorrow? Should I bring anything with me? How should I dress?"

"Just you and your homework." Daniel replied with a warm smile. "And dress however you want, Moogle. I'll let the bet slide... for now."

"So... its a real date, then?" Alan asked, an eager smile on his face.

"Yes, Alan Wilson. It's a date. I'll pick you up around Noon. Sound good?" Daniel answered, not helping but to smile himself.

Alan leaned over to kiss Daniel once again, holding his face in his hands after he pulled away. "Sounds great, Daniel Lang. I'm looking forward to it."
