《Hunter's Beta (mxm)》Chapter One

The drive from Pack Warrior seemed longer then before. Dewald let his head rest against his dad's truck somewhat reclined seat after messing with the radio. His phone was still charging a little because it was basically dead before.
Michael the current Beta chuckled seeing his son's restless behaviour. He remembered that feeling all to well the eagerness and ambition to finally be of official rank in the pack. "Its just another ten minutes kiddo." Dewald groaned. "Dad please." Don't call me that. Michael smiled sideways at his son. " I know, I know, someone's not a pup anymore. You ready for the ceremony huh?" Michael changes the subject instead while keeping his eyes on the road. Dewald shrugs but his dad didn't miss the side smirk on his face. Yeah his ready.
The pride swelling in his chest almost made him well up but Michael blinked them away feeling almost silly but enjoyed the feeling none the less. That is no way for a Beta to behave before his successor. He scolded himself internally while grinning from ear to ear.
Dewald finding his endearment embarrassing was funny in a way considering his mother called him that without any complaint from him a light blush the only visible sign of the young men's embarrassment.
He was all grown up and in the years of shifters eighteen marked adulthood. The tough training and skills he mastered has changed the young man considerably. His father noted the focused sharp unwavering gaze and stronger frame not to mention the few inches of height added to his already 6 feet. Man his just as huge as Hunter he thought. Michael furrows his brows something's been up with the alpha's son since his been back from Pack Midnight.
To everyone els all seemed fine but he noticed some tension between the alpha and his son. He was going to ask Dewald but he just seemed exited to see his best friend again after three months. He probably had no idea what it was or did but their bro code will make him keep it to himself in confidence.

He was a little surprised and disappointed when Hunter decided to go train at Pack Law when he was sure the two friends would attend Warrior Pack together. But then again there was Pack Law with their bad-ass rep among the shifters even alphas had to bent to from time to time. Hunter always seemed more curious about enforcing the law on cruel and crooked alpha's then running an actual pack. Heck his Idol was Tiberius the first battalion commander. Not his father Xavier Marx alpha of the largest pack in the world. Then we all grow out of that stage where our dad's the hero he concluded.
He obviously changed a great deal and became stronger but there was a look in his eyes that was almost calculating and calm in contrast with the arrogance and rebellion streak he had before leaving. Those qualities that makes his a true alpha has come to light and meaningless trades of pup hood were weeded out in training. Sometimes the young recruits were broken but only so that they could be built into better and stronger versions of their former selves. And the alphas son has definitely bettered himself.
Pack Midnight Moon was buzzing with activity as they entered the official gates. Curious heads turning at them as they drove up through the pack houses towards the alpha's residents at the top of the hill. The was only one parking space available. And that's only because it was reserved for them. Looking at all the cars didn't tone down Dewald's excitement at all. Although he came across as calm and collected he was not. Not because he was shy but he preferred to be alone only allowing Hunter to drag him away to live a little as he put it.
Tonight was he and his best friends coming of age ceremony and the whole pack and some visiting Alphas are going to be present. He doubted he would say it out loud but he really missed him. He had butterflies in his stomach because of excitement about their possible mates attending. Besides now they can feel out the other packs and make connections after all shifters were social beings and competitive by nature. They were just entering the pack house if you can even call the magnificent building such a thing as they who lived in it couldn't help but marvel at its beauty being decorated for the nights festivities.

Dewald's jacket pocket vibrated alerting him of a text message. Taking out his phone he had to smile as he read. Dee come up to my room first. Need you dude! From: Hunter. Wonder if the soon too be alpha was having a nerves breakdown he laughed pocketing his phone.
" Dad you go right ahead."
Michael nods walking on while Dewald takes two steps at a time up to his best friends room. Music could be heard as he approached the room. Pushing open the door he found the room empty but he could hear the shower running so he made himself comfortable on Hunter's bed. What happened next had his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open as a dripping wet figure walked into the room in nothing but a white towel.

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.

He said softly. I examined them, seeing how some had some white parts and some were free of the black specks."I like these a lot." He smiled. He brought one to my lips and I bit into it. It was very different from the others. Much less sweet."These ones match your eyes, don't they? Your pretty green eyes." He said to me, wiping away more of my tears while I was too distracted by the explosion of flavour in my mouth.I rubbed my irritated eyes and he fed me another kiwi slice. It tasted good but it made my body shiver a little from the little sting it had in its taste."Is it too sour? Sorry about that." He chuckled, gently raking his fingers through my hair as I relaxed a little.I wanted more. I liked kiwi."You want more?" He asked me.I looked at the kiwi and then at him. He really, really wanted me to talk. He fed me the rest of the kiwi pieces even though he hadn't gotten an answer from me and then he smiled."All done." He said to me, brushing my hair away from my face with a smile.
