《Hate Me Now, Love Me Later》Chapter 9

There was a jolt that quickly ran through Lisa's body. When she somehow recovers from the shock, she asks Jennie, "S-So you do have?"

Jennie narrows her eyes at Lisa who can't hold her stares, Jennie asks, "Why does it matter if I answer you are not?"

"I don't care if you don't answer."

Jennie unintentionally twitches an eye, "Then I won't."

"Okay." Lisa only nods.

Lisa knows that her answer rubbed Jennie the wrong way again. For Lisa can feel the same cold aura Jennie have been emitting ever since. The same aura which Lisa thought Jennie lost from the few days they were together.

"Well, I heard you are no saint, either." Jennie flips her hair, "I heard from somewhere that you dated someone from your younger years? Middle school, perhaps?"

Lisa could only burrow her eyebrows together in confusion, "What? Now who are you talking to lately? That's completely insane."

Jennie coldly shrugs, "Oh, what's his name again?" Jennie acts like she's trying to remember. She eyes Lisa once more before saying, "Jungkook, was it?"

Lisa's eyes widen for a split second just by the mere mention of the name.

This made Jennie – to what Lisa thinks it is – smirk, "Hit the nail on the head, I see?"

"W-Where did you get that?" Lisa tries not to quiver.

"Somewhere."

"Well, it's not true."

"Is it?"

"Yes. That's complete crap." Lisa assures Jennie.

"Okay, whatever you say, Manoban." Jennie walks by Lisa, "It's not my business to pry on your love life."

Lisa then feels Jennie stop behind her, she hears Jennie say,

"So it's none of your business to pry on mine."

--------------

Lisa also knows that they are back to normal after that conversation; and with normal, Lisa meant the cold, bitchy persona of Princess Jennie again.

She doesn't know what exactly went through her head or Jennie's when they talked about their private lives.

She just knows now that she should not cross that line.

Another boundary Jennie set between them.

--------------

"I won't be going home with you again." Jennie says, but Lisa notices that it's not as cold from before.

Maybe Jennie softens up a bit towards Lisa again.

"Okay." Lisa obediently nods.

"Okay." Jennie answers back before turning and walking away.

Jennie only turns back to Lisa when Lisa calls her, "Jennie!"

"What? Stop wasting my time, you fool."

Lisa bites her lips before proceeding, "I'm, I'm sorry for snooping about your love life."

Lisa can feel her throat getting dry as it also becomes harder to swallow, she continues, "I didn't know it was off-limits."

Jennie doesn't respond at once, making Lisa feel a bit more nervous and tense. Lisa would like to think that Jennie knows it's torturing her.

Jennie finally ends Lisa's torture when she says, "Apology forcefully accepted."

"Forcefully?"

"I have no other choice but to, right?" Jennie smiles.

Lisa stares down, because for some odd reason, it also became harder to look at Jennie smiling,

Smiling at her.

--------------

"Alone on your usual table?"

Lisa quickly turns around to find out where the voice came from.

It was from the same person she's been trying hard to deal with this whole time.

"And hello to you, too, Jennie." Lisa turns back to eating after she acknowledges Jennie's presence.

"You know," Jennie doesn't seem to read gestures, or she just completely takes no notice of it, but she continues to speak to Lisa, "Sometimes I look at you eating alone and then I'll pity you; but then I'll remember how an ass you are and you know, I think 'Yeah, she deserves it.'"

Lisa continues to munch as she looks up at Jennie, who was smiling genuinely at her.

This made Lisa choke on what she's eating.

"Hey! Are you okay?!" Jennie lightly smacks Lisa's back. "Here, drink this." She gives Lisa the water that is on the latter's table.

"Th-Thanks." Lisa manages to say as she taps her chest.

"Eat slower, you monkey." Jennie pats her back one last time; and Lisa was sure there was amusement in with what Jennie says next,

"I'm not ready to lose my servant yet."

Though Lisa would like to think that there was something more with what Jennie just said.

-------------------

"What is that?" Jennie disgustingly points at the notebook beside Lisa's plate on the lunch table.

"My notebook. Haven't you seen one before?"

Jennie clicks her tongue in annoyance, "I know that, monkey." She rolls her eyes, "What I'm asking is that."

Lisa looks at her notebook and finally sees what Jennie is pointing at, "Oh, it's a drawing."

"Of what?"

"A..." Lisa bites her lips, "A... monkey."

Jennie holds back a laugh, "For what?"

"Class was really boring, okay?"

Jennie only shakes her head from Lisa's answer.

"You didn't tell me you're somehow good in drawing." Jennie takes the notebook from Lisa and raises her eyebrows in approval, "It's actually cute."

The comment made Lisa chew her food slowly as her throat starts to get dry.

Was she blushing? She hopes not.

"And why are you drawing there? Don't you have those artist notebooks or of some sort?" Jennie gently throws the notebook back at the table.

"A sketchpad?"

"Yeah, that one." Jennie shrugs.

Lisa laughs weakly, "I don't have it. I left mine at home, like at my real home."

Jennie openly stares at Lisa, she stretches a hand to hold the table. Her arm almost beside Lisa, intimidating Lisa. Then Jennie asks, "And where you live now is not a home to you?"

"You know I didn't mean it like that."

"Yeah," Jennie retreats her arm and starts walking away,

"Of course you didn't."

----------------

Lisa goes straight to the Kim's car that was supposed to fetch the both of them; though Jennie said earlier that she won't be going with Lisa on their way home.

Lisa didn't bother going to Jennie's classroom any longer as she was instructed not to anymore.

Jennie really is clear with boundaries and limitations. Lisa could only wonder why Jennie puts up as many between them.

It wasn't supposed to affect Lisa in any way, but lately, Lisa has not been feeling any better without Jennie around, either.

Lisa also admits that she wanted to know why Jennie will stay a little bit later than supposed to,

And Lisa exactly gets what she wanted.

Right after seeing Jennie,

With a man.
