《Hate Me Now, Love Me Later》Chapter 5

"Hey, you." Jennie points at the only person in the living room with her, "Monkey."

Lisa purposely irritates Jennie by looking left to right and pointing at herself asking, "Me?"

"Well, who else?" Jennie has gone to this habit of widening her eyes, thanks to Lisa.

Lisa giggles.

"Accompany me later at the mall." Jennie sits on the couch and crosses her legs.

"Should I ask why?" Lisa looks up at Jennie from the floor she was sitting on.

"No. You don't have the right to question me or my orders."

"Yep." Lisa stands up and brushes her pants, "A tour to hell once more."

---------------

"I want to look for a gift." Jennie says as she adjusts her sunglasses.

"Why not ask one of your so-called 'friends' instead?" Lisa walks behind Jennie, as per Jennie's direct instruction.

"Why do you even bother who I go with?" Jennie mid-turn her head to her before full facing forward again.

"Just asking." Lisa looks at the shops they passed by because it's less weird.

Silence.

Then Jennie decides to speak, "I'm buying a birthday gift for a friend. I don't want to ask the others because they'll know."

Lisa looks at Jennie, well, Jennie's back, "They'll know eventually. What's the difference?"

"Don't you know 'surprises'?" Jennie says, not turning to Lisa anymore.

"Asking me to go with you is one."

That made Jennie stops from walking, which made Lisa stop walking as well.

Jennie turns and starts walking to Lisa. She takes her sunglasses off and looks straight at the taller girl's eyes, "Do you have a problem with accompanying me today, Ms. Manoban?"

"I have lots of problem accompanying you every day, Ms. Kim." Lisa answers rather frankly.

Jennie narrows her eyes at Lisa, her lips slightly twitching from Lisa's answer.

Jennie exhales furiously yet calmly. Lisa can tell she kind of went overboard and pissed Jennie off badly.

Hey, Lisa doesn't get it. They fight over things like this every day, why is today any different?

After a split second, Jennie regains her composure and says to Lisa, "Well, guess you'll have lots more problems on your way every single day of your desperate life,"

She puts on her sunglasses back and flips her hair as she turns back to the road, she says with a mocking smile,

"Because you have no choice."

Leaving Lisa with her mouth left hanging.

----------------

"Are you seriously not going to talk to me?" Lisa walks - tries to walk - beside Jennie, who keeps on walking a bit faster when Lisa is about to catch up to her.

"Come on, Jennie. You know I was just joking." Lisa explains, then she adds, "Well, half joking."

Lisa hears Jennie muttering something under her breath.

"What?" Lisa picks up her pace to catch up with the Princess.

"I said it was not funny!!" Jennie finally stops walking and looks at Lisa, and Lisa could somehow feel a bit of guilt by the way Jennie looks at her.

Because Lisa could swear that there was pain in Jennie's eyes.

"I-I'm sorry." Lisa is only able to mumble those words. It was the first time she saw Jennie so vulnerable. "I-I didn't think you were sensitive."

Jennie scoffs, "I'm not sensitive." Then she bats an eye at Lisa before looking at the ground, "You're just insensitive."

Now it's Lisa's turn to scoff, "And I'm the insensitive one?"

"See?! You're at it again!"

"Alright. Fine." Lisa pulls some of her hair from her head, "I'm sorry." Lisa knows she means it, "Let's look for a birthday gift for your friend."

Jennie only stares at her.

"I promise I won't complain." Lisa raises her hands as surrender.

"No snide remarks?" Jennie inquires further.

Lisa sighs, "No snide remarks." Then she smiles,

"Promise."

--------------

"I'm hungry!"

Jennie really fascinates Lisa by the way her temper could easily change from time to time. One moment, Jennie will be screaming at Lisa, then another moment, Jennie will be making pained expressions, and then in another, she'll be enthusiastic and will be asking for food.

"I'm going to eat first." Jennie says over her shoulder, she still commanded Lisa to walk a few steps behind her.

Being seen with Lisa is still far from what she wants to happen.

"If that's what you want, Jennie."

"I've been dying to try this new restaurant."

"You know I won't be paying for that." Lisa comments.

"I know. You can't even pay for your bus fare."

"So, what? I'll watch you eat?"

"Yeah." Jennie shrugs.

"Great, I always did like watching you eat from afar." Lisa says sarcastically.

"You really are dumb, aren't you?" Jennie turns to her, surprising Lisa because Jennie is smiling.

Not one of those taunting smiles, it was one of those gummy smiles she shows when she is genuinely happy.

When Lisa realizes this, it was too late.

Her heart was already racing.

"I... I am?" Were the only words that Lisa is able to come up with.

"Yes, you are." It was not Jennie saying it with her gummy smile still plastered on her face that surprises Lisa even more, it was when Jennie suddenly pulls Lisa by the hand while saying, "Of course you're eating with me."

Lisa is still in shock from Jennie's bipolarity. Jennie did not help because after that she adds, "Who else do you think will feed me?"

Then Jennie smiles at Lisa again,

"Monkey."
