《Hate Me Now, Love Me Later》Chapter 4

Lisa starts questioning her purpose in this world after a few weeks living with the ultimate Bitch Princess, Jennie Kim.

Is she born to be a servant for life? Was she that bad in her past life to deserve this? Is her sole purpose is to be attached to a whining ball in the shape of Jennie?

Lisa was lost in her own world when fingers start snapping in front of her face.

Lisa finds out that her guess was correct, it was from Jennie.

"Hellooo! Earth to Lisa the Monkey." Jennie pulls Lisa back to reality.

"What are you doing?" Lisa swats Jennie's fingers off her face, "And why are you here? It's lunchtime, I thought you don't want us to be seen together?"

"Yeah." Jennie states like it's obvious, "Don't get ahead of yourself, I came here to tell you that I won't be going home with you later."

"Why?"

"I'll be hanging out with friends. You go tag along with whoever can endure you and your tastes." Jennie motions with her hands.

Lisa senses a tad bit feeling of happiness when she heard that she can be somehow free for the afternoon.

"Like a total freed slave." She thinks when she wonders why she feels happy; better than being stuck with Bitch Jennie.

"Well, that's all. I have to go before I become allergic to you." Jennie conceitedly smiles at Lisa.

Then again, Lisa thought that at least Jennie smiled at her.

Lisa is convinced that something really is wrong with her lately.

She knows that she should be partying right now, celebrating the freedom she just acquired even for just a short time; but instead, she finds herself in a park bench sitting alone to question herself.

"What is wrong with me?"

She imagines what she should be doing right now if she was with Jennie. Normally, she will be bossed around as usual.

Preparing Jennie's food, cleaning Jennie's room, probably helping Jennie with assignments.

Anything that a normal person could do herself but instead decides to throw it to a slave they just acquired because of a stupid debt.

At least then, Lisa will be doing something. Not like what she's doing now, sitting stupidly; waiting for something to happen.

"Oh my God, what are you doing here?"

Lisa hasn't fully turned yet when the voice adds, "Are you following me?"

"Jennie." Lisa says as soon as she recognizes who it was, "What are you doing here? I thought you're out with your 'friends'?"

"I am." Jennie looks at Lisa like she's judging the latter, "What are you doing here? Did not find anyone who can tolerate you?"

"No." Lisa turns back and watches the kids that are playing, "It's not like I have the chance to meet people and have a lot of friends while being with you 24/7."

Lisa continues to watch the children, "My whole life is revolving around your family and my family's debt right now. I don't have the time to be busy with other things, or other people."

Lisa doesn't hear anything from Jennie, not like she's expecting the self-proclaimed Princess to.

"What?" Lisa turns back to Jennie, "Cat got your tongue?"

"No," Jennie says as she pushes Lisa lightly so she could sit beside Lisa, "I just want to say that you're an ass for thinking that."

Lisa scoots to make space for Jennie, she says, "Well, you're an ass for making me think like that."

Jennie sighs, "I can't believe I'm sitting with you right now, on the very same bench. Eww."

Lisa can't help but chuckle as she shakes her head, "You really are spoiled, aren't you?"

"Do you want someone to be with you right now or not?" Jennie widens her eyes again, Lisa did like seeing Jennie like that, "I'm trying my very best to be sympathetic to a low life like you."

Lisa giggles, "If that's what you say."

Jennie exhales first, "Okay. Listen, monkey," Jennie clears her throat, "First of all, be thankful that my friends are still not here, or else I won't be here accompanying your lonely soul. I still do not want to be seen with you. God, it's the last thing I want to happen."

"Aww. You still want it to happen."

Lisa cuts Jennie off.

"Tch. Shut up and let me talk." Lisa tries her best not to laugh at Jennie's mood swings. Jennie continues, "Second, it's not my family's fault that you owe us a lot. So don't make it sound like it is. You should actually thank us for at least helping your family and lending you money. Don't make it sound like we're the only devils here."

Lisa just stares at Jennie. Bitch has a point.

"Third, it's my job to give you something to do. Your family agreed to the consequences and so did you. So, it's also your job to do whatever I asked you to. Think of it as your help to your family."

"But you're asking for too much. You could do simple things and yet you make me do all of it." Lisa replies.

"Well, that's how it works." Jennie sassily says, "Want to blame someone? Blame your family tree."

"Oh, come on. Don't go there, Jennie."

"It's true. It's not our fault we're rich and you're not." Jennie shrugs.

Lisa simply breathes out a laugh because she knows she won't win this argument or any argument with Jennie ever.

"Well, if that's the case. Then, for the meantime," Lisa finally looks at Jennie,

"My life belongs to you."

Jennie, for the rarest of times, was speechless for a while. When she was able to comprehend what Lisa just said, she clears her throat and says, "That's gross."

Lisa chuckles, "You like it."

"Whatever." Jennie stands up and turns her back to Lisa like how she always does, "I'm leaving. I don't want to spend my afternoon with a weirdo like you. Bye, freak!"

With that, Jennie walks away.

Lisa could only smile because she likes to believe that she saw Jennie's cheeks get even the tiniest tint of red when Lisa deliberately gave her life up to Jennie's 'evil' care.

Lisa could just continue with her smile because she knows - or tries to trick herself - that even when Jennie says those things, deep down, she cares for Lisa.

Else why would Jennie waste her precious time comforting a 'low life' like Lisa?

Lisa doesn't want to but she continues to smile at the thought. She says in defeat, and still with a smile,

"Damn it, Jennie."
