Naala was busy typing an email when her phone buzzed loudly on her desk. When she saw it was Azure she was hesitant to answer the phone.
"Hello," Naala answered blandly,
"Finally LaLa, I've been trying to call you for almost a month now. What's going on?" Azure replied,
"I didn't feel like talking to you," Naala said rudely,
"What the hell did I do to you Naala?" Azure asked confusedly,
"Zuri your mother literally sat at the table and told me she didn't want my 'crazy ass' to be apart of YOUR family and you said nothing. Not only did you not say anything but you let me get up and leave. I've been doing a lot of thinking and even my therapist suggested that I cut off anybody that doesn't benefit me and sadly you're on that list. " Naala replied,
"Whatever Naala, keep running away from your problems like you normally do." Azure chuckled darkly,
"When has mom ever been any different towards you?" She continued,
"That's the point! My whole life she's treated me this way and quite frankly I'm over it. I'm not asking you to be on my side," Naala said getting upset,
"I won't be on your side Naala because you sound dumb as hell," Zuri said with not an ounce of sympathy in her voice.
"That's fine. Goodbye Azure." Naala said before hanging up. She put her phone down and sighed, she could literally never catch a break.
"I need a therapy session ASAP," Naala said to herself. Recently she had gone back to therapy and it was honestly one of the best things she could have ever done.
Looking at the time, she grabbed her purse and got up, Sinai was almost finished at school and she had an appointment afterwards.
Naala left her office and walked over to the lift before getting in it and pressing the ground floor.
When she got to the parking lot, she pulled out Dave's keys and unlocked the car. Today she was riding in his Tesla, it was one of her favourites.
Speeding off, she arrived at the school with about 2 minutes to spare.
"Thank God," She said out loud, Sinai would throw a fit if she was late.
Naala sat outside of Sinai's school, her head resting on the window. She was just generally over the day and ready to be in bed.
She had been super busy at work and was feeling really bad. The truth was the baby had been kicking her ass. The call from Azure just about tipped her over the edge.
Amir💙
You feeling better baby?
:No your son is doing the most today
:I'm at the school now
I'm sorry mama, Imma meet y'all there
Okay love you
Love you more
Today was Naala's 16 weeks appointment to check on the baby. Her and Dave decided that it would be the perfect time to tell Sinai as Naala's bump is visible now if she isn't wearing baggy clothes.
The bell rang and moments later teachers and children started to file out of the school building. Naala looked at her self in her mirror to check if she looks presentable and then got out of the car.
She walked up to the pick up spot, Sinai came running out, her little puffs bouncing in the air. She spotted Naala almost immediately and pointed her out so her teacher could let her go. Normally they just let the children go but this time Sinai's teacher walked with Sinai over to Naala.

"Hi mommy," Sinai said reaching to hug her mom. Naala hugged her back,
"Hi Nai Nai," She smiled, "Ms Bolton, I hope everything's okay?" She asked.
Ms Bolton smiled, "Everything is perfect but I wanted to speak to you about something," She said ushering Naala to the side to speak to her.
"Let me just strap her in," Naala said softly before getting Sinai settled in the car. When she was done she spun back around to the teacher,
"Is it something bad?" She asked impatiently.
"Not at all, Sinai has really been excelling at everything. She always participates and I barely have to tell her what to do," The woman spoke,
"Why do I feel like there's a but," Naala said shifting her weight onto the other foot,
"Well it's her attitude, if I tell her to stop doing something, she closes up immediately and doesn't want to talk for the rest of the lesson," Naala sighed, she knew there had to be something.
"I'm only telling you this because a few of her other teachers have picked up on it and here at St.Judes we don't tolerate that type of behaviour, so the principal is calling for a meeting on Friday to discuss where we go from here. " The teacher finished,
"Thank you Ms.Bolton, her father and I will definitely be in attendance on Friday." Naala said with a tight-lipped smile. This was really the last thing she needed to hear today.
She got into her car and rested her head on her wheel. "Mommy are you okay?" Sinai asked, watching her mom.
"I'm really tired," Naala said quietly, "I'm just really tired baby," she repeated. Naala had no other choice but to start the car and leave the school parking lot.
"That's okay mommy, when we get back you can sleep all you want," Sinai said sweetly. It was hard to be angry at her because she was honestly a sweetheart.
Naala drove down to the doctors office humming along to Kiana Ledé. She was interrupted by her phone ringing,
"Hey mama," Naala said,
"Hi my darling, what you doing girl?" Mama Sonia asked,
"Grandma I miss you!" Sinai said out loud as soon as she heard her grandma's voice.
"I miss you too baby, you're parents have been holding you hostage," Sonia laughed,
"Mama you can have her anytime," Naala said, she could use a break.
"Yeah, bring my grand baby down here before thanksgiving," Sonia replied,
"Will do, what's happening on thanksgiving?" Naala asked, she couldn't wait for the food.
"I need you to make some that oxtail Lala," Sonia said. A few weeks ago Naala made some oxtails and Sonia couldn't get enough.
"Of course," Naala chuckled, "Anything else mama,"
"Tell my son to call me, I haven't seen y'all in so long - are you hiding from me?" Sonia quizzed,
Truthfully they were hiding. They hadn't told Mama Sonia that Naala was pregnant yet, they wanted to surprise her at thanksgiving,
"Not at all, we've just been busy," Naala lied,
"Mmm, I don't believe you but just tell him to call me - I've been having some dreams," Sonia said sternly,
"I will mama, I'm pulling up to the store so I will speak to you later," Naala lied, she was actually pulling into the doctor office.
She took a sharp turn and pulled into the parking lot. She spotted Dave's white Lamborghini jeep.

"That's daddy," Sinai said excitedly as she spotted Dave leaning on his car,
"Yep," Naala nodded trying to smile so Dave wouldn't catch how she really feels.
Naala pulled into the space next to his and turned the engine off,
"Come on Nai," She said as she got up. Dave had already come over to the car and pulled open Sinai's door.
"Hi daddy," Sinai said reaching for his hand.
"What's up Stink" Dave spoke, "How was school," He asked. Sinai began to talk his ear off and Naala just walked behind them.
"You good Love?" Dave questioned turning back,
Naala smiled and nodded, hiking her purse up her shoulder. They walked into the office and Naala went to the desk to tell them she had arrived.
"Why are we at the doctors daddy?" Sinai said looking up at him, "Have I got my shots?" She asked fearfully,
Dave shook his head, "Remember me and mommy have I surprise for you," Naala walked back over to them and smiled softly,
"You sure you're okay Naala?" Dave asked once again. He could tell something was off,
"I'm sure Amir," Naala muttered,
"Naala Love?" The doctor called out into the waiting room,
"Should be Brewster," Dave said getting up and holding Sinai's hand. Naala laughed,
"I don't see a ring," Naala said holding up her left hand,
"Soon," Dave smirked leading them into the room.
"Oh we've got a special guest today," Dr Daniels smiled at Sinai.
"Yes," Naala smiled softly, "Our first baby," She gushed.
"Does she know why she's here?" Dr Daniels said directly to Sinai who stood close to her father and shook her head - she still didn't know why she was there.
"Say hi to the doctor Nai," Dave said pulling her in front of him,
Sinai waved shyly, "Hi," Her small voice said.
"Mom you can just lay here and lift up your shirt," The doctor said to Naala who complied. Dave and Sinai took a seat by the desk.
"Okay let's see what we have here," The doctor said putting the cold gel on Naala's stomach,
"Sinai look at the screen," Dave pointed to the sonogram screen.
"What is it," She whispered as the heartbeat sounded through the room.
"That's your little brother or sister," Dave said with a big smile on his face. He could never got over the sound of his babies heartbeat.
"Really? In there?" She pointed at Naala's stomach. Naala looked over and nodded,
"Yes baby," She smiled. Sinai jumped up and down,
"I'm getting a baby sister!" She cheered, making Naala laugh.
"What makes you think it's a girl," Naala said,
"I only want a sister," She shrugged, Dave furrowed his eyebrows,
"What if it's a boy?" He asked, that's what he wanted.
"It won't be," Sinai replied with her hand on her hip,
"Ooo you've got a feisty one," The doctor laughed wiping the gel of Naala's stomach.
"Okay so the baby looks perfect," The doctor continued,
"We've reached 16 weeks now so you are roughly 4 months gone now. Baby looks great and healthy but you have to take it easy Naala, your blood pressure is too high,"
"I've been telling her," Dave coincided, causing Naala to roll her eyes.
"I'm not stressed, I just have a lot going on," Naala replied sitting up,
"I'm not suggesting bed rest, but if your blood pressure doesn't come down by our next appointment then that is your only option." Doctor Daniels said,
"I can't afford to go on bed rest right now," Naala muttered,
"Yes you can," Dave said, "I'll keep an eye on her Doc," Dave said looking at Naala who just looked away.
"It's just to be sure Naala, we need a healthy baby," The doctor smiled,
Naala didn't respond, she just hopped of the bed and grabbed her purse,
"Thanks Doctor," Dave said before leading them out of the room.
"Daddy does that mean I have to share my toys now?" Sinai said, it had now hit her that she was actually going to be a big sister.
"Yes that's what big sisters do," Dave smirked,
Naala walked to her car and stood by it with her hand on her hip,
"Now you've got an attitude," Dave said approaching the car and opening Sinai's door for her,
Dave strapped her in and closed the door. He pulled Naala to so now his arms were wrapped around her waist.
"I don't have an attitude," Naala replied, "Are you coming home or not?" She questioned, "Sinai's teacher spoke to me today,"
"About what? What happened now?" Dave said with his eyebrows furrowed,
"I'm not about to talk about that in a parking lot Amir," Naala said rolling her eyes,
"Aye what the fuck is your problem? These hormones man," He mumbled the last bit under his breathe.
"Nothing, just let me go so I can go home," Naala said moving his hands from around her waist.
"Whatever, let Sinai out then so she can ride with me," Dave said shrugging,
Naala sucked her teeth, "Bye Amir," She said before getting in her car.
Dave huffed, he hated when Naala had an attitude for no reason and took it out on him.
Naala started to back out of her space and zoomed off,
"Look how fast she's driving my shit," Dave muttered, "She needs her own car," He said to himself. "Matter of fact," He mumbled again pulling out his phone.
"Y'all pregnant hoes are no fun," Taina complained over the phone.
"Dang, I didn't ask for this," Mia pouted pointing to her now 5 month bump,
"Neither did I," Naala laughed leaning her phone up on the counter and eating some chips.
"Bitch whatever, there wasn't a day you and Dave didn't run off to fuck somewhere," Taina said referring to their trip to Cancun.
Naala smiled, "I was already pregnant on the trip," She said in a matter of fact tone,
Taina gasped, "You hoe, I knew there was something wrong with you," Naala laughed and stuck her tongue out.
"I'm ready for this girl to get out of me," Mia groaned. Her and Ace recently found out that they were expecting a girl and Ace was over the moon.
"I can't believe two of my best friends are pregnant and I'm here - single," Taina said with a sad expression,
"Aw Nana," Naala said looking at her, "I thought you wanted to enjoy being single for a while,"
"There's someone I'm talking to but I'm not sure yet," Taina replied,
"It better not be Von again," Mia commented, because last time Taina claimed to have moved on but with the same person.
Taina staled faced her, "No bitch," She said rolling her eyes jokingly.
"Hang on guys," Mia said as she reached off camera and picked up baby Mocha.
"Oh my God she is the cutest," Naala cooed, "Hey girly," She said to Mocha, who hid in Mia's neck,
"She really is," Taina agreed, "She's over there for the weekend?" She asked,
"Yep, her mom dropped her off this morning," Mia said rolling her eyes.
"Oop how did that go?" Naala asked eating a jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and hot Cheetos.
"First of all, ew," Mia laughed watching Naala eat the jalapeño. "What is that?" She said with a look of disgust,
"Girl she makes me make them for her at work," Taina said with the same look, "Nasty as hell,"
Naala laughed, "Don't come for me, these are bomb," She said shrugging,
"Anywayyyy, tell me why her mama came up in here talking bout, 'I don't know why he married your ass,'"
"She didn't," Taina laughed, "Someone is salty," She replied,
"I ignored her, she's not about to stress me out," Mia said flipping her hair over her shoulder, "Hassan shut her up real quick,"
Dave walked into the kitchen and saw Naala on the phone,
"I knew I heard birds chirping," Dave said opening the refrigerator and grabbing a peach ice tea. He had just finished working out,
"Who's a bird?" Taina said rolling her neck, "I know that giraffe isn't coming for me," She said.
"Leave them alone," Naala laughed, he walked behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist,
"You smell good," Dave said into her neck, kissing it gently.
"You're all sweaty," Naala said trying to get out of his grip,
"I don't care," He shrugged,
"Wow it's just fuck us then," Mia laughed as Naala turned around in his arms,
"Bye y'all," Dave said ending the FaceTime. Naala gasped and slapped his shoulder,
"Don't cut the phone on my friends," Naala said pouting, "They were keeping me company,"
"I'm all the company you need, the fuck," Dave retorted putting his hands on her growing belly.
"Mmm," Naala said leaning into him, "I missed you,"
"You're over your little attitude then," Dave smirked, licking his bottom lip,
"I didn't have an attitude, your daughter's attitude is the problem," Naala replied,
"What happened?" Dave asked, rubbing her sides,
"Her teacher told me she's been catching an attitude at school and now the principal wants to see us," Naala explained with a stressed look,
"Man really?" Dave said, "Sinai get in here," Dave shouted, his loud voice booming through the entire house.
"Go easy on her," Naala muttered,
Dave huffed, "No, look how stressed she's got you,"
The last thing Dave wanted was for Naala to be stressed through this pregnancy and right now she was more stressed than she needed to be.
"Yes daddy," Sinai said running into the kitchen.
"Sit down," Dave pointed to the chair. Sinai sat down with a confused expression,
Dave let go off Naala and walked over to Sinai. "Why am I hearing you've been acting up at school?" He asked firmly,
"I haven't," Sinai said with a mug, "I'm always good,"
"So why did Ms Bolton tell me you've been misbehaving?" Naala asked her gently,
"Ms Bolton is always picking on me!" Sinai said louder than necessary,
"Don't raise your voice at your mom," Dave snapped at her,
"Why didn't you tell us she's been picking on you," Naala said looking at her,
"Because you never listen to me," Sinai replied rudely,
"I'm not gonna tell you again to watch your mouth!" Dave scolded,
"Baby it's okay," Naala said softly,
"No Love it's not. This is why she gets away with things, she needs to learn," Dave replied, "Go and pack all them toys and bring them out here,"
"That's not fair!" Sinai said tears welling up in her eyes,
"Sinai," Naala said, "Go and do what your dad told you,"
"This is because of you," She spat at Naala before walking off to her room.
Naala sat down and sighed, putting her head in her hands.
"What's going on with her," Naala said feeling emotional,
"She's just angry," Dave said trying to reason with her. He walked over to Naala and pulled her into a hug,
"What am I doing wrong?" Naala said letting a few tears slip out, "You should have seen the teacher Amir, she was judging me. She thinks I can't teach my own daughter manners,"
"Fuck her," Dave replied with a frown, "Sinai just acting out, she not gonna be like this forever,"
"I'm scared she's gonna be worse when the baby gets here," Naala admitted. Sinai was too used to being an only child and when the new baby comes, Naala won't be able to show he as much attention as usual.
"We will keep an eye on her, stop stressing," Dave said soothingly,
Before Naala could reply Sinai walked back into the room with the majority of her toys in her arm. She dumped them on the table with tears streaming down her face,
"Fix ya face," Dave said, "It's not forever, you've got to learn 'Nai. When something doesn't go your way you can't just get angry," Dave spoke softly,
Sinai nodded, "I'm sorry," She said lowly,
"Don't apologise to me, apologise to your mom. What did I tell you about the way you speak to her?" Dave replied,
"I'm sorry mommy," She said looking over at Naala who was wiping her face.
Naala nodded, "I'm going to lie down, my head hurts," Naala said before getting up and leaving the kitchen,
Dave kissed the top of her head, "I'm coming up there in a bit," He said.
"Okay," Naala replied lowly and walked off,
Sinai huffed and sat at the table, "Is mommy upset with me?" She asked her dad,
"Not just at you baby, remember you're little brother or sister is cooking in her belly which is a lot of work already. So when you misbehave it upsets her," Dave said truthfully. He knew that this had really hurt Naala.
"I didn't mean to upset her, but she never listens to me," Sinai replied with a sad look, "Ms Bolton is a big meany,"
"What does she say to you?" Dave asked now intrigued,
"She always tells me to stop talking about you," Sinai said pointing at Dave,
"Me? Why?" Dave questioned with his brows furrowed,
Sinai shrugged, "I think it's because I like to talk about you and all the fun things we do together,"
