《What is Love? [Dave East FanFic]》12.

Mia sat in her seat stirring her ice tea round and round with the thin straw she was provided. She was the first to arrive at the restaurant and was waiting for her friends to arrive. She was riddled with nerves, she didn't know what she wanted to with this pregnancy and she hoped her friends could help her.
Looking down at her phone she saw a message from Ace. Her heart fluttered at the thought of him, even though they hadn't know each other long it felt like they had known each other their whole lives. He was a completely different person when he was with her and that's what made her happy, he was his true self with her. The text read, 'i don't know what's going on with you baby but just know I got u'. Little did Ace know that this message would mean so much to Mia.
Across the restaurant, Taina and Naala were walking through the double doors. The warm scent of various foods invaded Naala's nose first and made her belly rumble in response. Recently, her appetite had been all over the place due to her new medication. It had its good and bad days and today was one of those days where she couldn't control herself. She was already thinking about how many things she was gonna order. They spotted Mia and sauntered over. Taina was the first to notice her forlorn look, Mia was never one to be upset so something must be seriously wrong.
"Hey baby face," Taina sang sliding into the booth next to Mia. Naala sat across the two with a smile on her face, grabbing the massive menu that the waitress handed to them,
"Ooo thank you," Naala said to the waitress, wiggling in her seat, she was excited to eat. "Hey guys," Mia said with a small smile, "Hey girl, you feeling a bit better now?" Naala asked with a concerned look. "Umm, I-I don't know," Mia said truthfully, she wasn't as upset as she was earlier but she was still confused.
"Well what happened? Is it Ace? Because I swear I will stick my foot so far up his ass -"
"Nana stop," Naala said softly as she saw Mia's eyes get glossy and a few tears slip out. Before they could say anything, Mia broke out into full blown tears, Taina moved closer to her and wrapped her hands around her. Both her friends let her cry because it looked like she needed it. A few people looked over but wouldn't dare say anything.
"I-I, I'm sorry guys, I just, I-I don't know what to do" Mia stuttered trying to get her point across.
"Mia you're scaring us," Naala said soothingly, she was genuinely worried about her friend.
"I-I'm pregnant, I think?" Mia said, this was the first time she had said the words and it felt weird.
"Wait huh?" Taina said helping her friend wipe her tears,
"I found out this morning," Mia sniffed, picking at her nails, something she tended to do when nervous.
"Isn't that a good thing? You've always wanted a family —" Naala spoke truthfully. For as long as her and Mia had been friends she had always spoken about having a huge family.
"Yh but I don't think Ace wants another baby—" That was what had been bothering Mia, Ace had a 18 month old baby with his ex girlfriend who he despises. She didn't want to add onto his stress by having a baby out of wedlock, her parents would be ballistic.

"Has he told you that Mimi?" Taina asked,
Shaking her head, Mia sighed. She felt so stupid for getting herself caught up in the sex.
"Mia I think you need to speak to him before you make a decision," Naala said knowingly. When she found out she was pregnant with Sinai the first person she wanted to speak to was Dave, but she couldn't. She didn't want her friend to make the same mistake she did.
"Take it from me," Naala continued, "it's only gonna hurt him more if you keep this from him babe, if this isn't what he wants then we've got you,"
"I agree Mia, you gotta speak to Ace first, you didn't make this baby on your own," Taina said while rubbing her back.
Mia sighed because she knew they were right, it would be wrong to keep it from him. "Okay, I'm going to go by his house tonight and speak to him," Mia muttered, she always already dreading the conversation.
A waitress came by the table and pulled out a notepad, looking at all girls, hoping they knew what they wanted to eat. It was almost time for her to clock out so she wanted to deal with them quickly.
"Y'all not gonna drink nothin'" She asked rudely, popping her gum dramatically. Taina's head turned slightly as she looked the girl up and down.
"I know this girl hasn't lost her damn mind?" Taina spoke with every bit of attitude seeping from her voice. Knowing that Taina was very close to causing a scene, Naala cleared her throat and turned to the girl.
"I'm sorry, Mila is it?" Naala asked, purposely misreading the name that was stitched onto her uniform that read, Molly.
"It's Molly," the girl replied, rolling her eyes hard.
"Okay Holly," Naala emphasised, " I'll get a peach ice tea and my friend here would love a glass of water,"
The waitress scribbled down the drinks angrily and walked off. Naala said a silent prayer and hoped she didn't spit in their drinks.
"I think bitches have lost their minds," Taina muttered as she watched the girl walk back to the kitchen. She hated when servers were rude, nobody forced her to pick this profession so she didn't need to be so disrespectful.
"Anywayyyyy," Mia said, seeming to be in better spirits,
"Why haven't I seen you in 3 weeks, miss thang?" She asked Naala who was browsing the menu.
"Are you talking to me?" Naala giggled as she set the menu down and looked up at Mia.
"Girl don't play dumb," Taina said as she also browsed the menu unsure of what to order.
The truth was Naala had been neglecting her friends. She had been so wrapped up in Dave and adjusting to her new life that she had forgotten to make time for her girls. Before Dave came back into the picture she tried to see them as much as Darnell would let her.
"I've been around, just enjoying life" Naala said trying not to blush, Dave had that affect on her.
"Mmm don't think we haven't peeped your new glow," Mia said wriggling her eyebrows in a playful manner. She was happy to be here with her girls, they were helping her feel better about her current situation.
"No seriously Lala, you look really happy, I've not seen you glow like this in, damn, forever." Taina said truthfully. All the years she has known Naala, there always seemed to be something missing but now it seems like she's found that missing piece.

"He makes me so happy y'all" Naala spoke, referring to Dave. "He's literally perfect. Some mornings when I wake up and I feel like shit, he makes me feel so much better about myself, he doesn't talk down to me, we barely argue —"
"Damn where can I find me a Dave," Taina said giggling.
Naala laughed and looked down, her mood shifting a bit,
"I just know I'm going to fuck it up some how, like how I messed stuff up with Darnell —"
"Stop right there Naala, I am not gonna sit here and let you blame yourself for that bitch! He doesn't deserve your guilt Naala, I mean it. I watched my best friend become a shadow of herself for a man that didn't deserve it, he is a terrible person, you couldn't change that." Taina said looking Naala right in the eye. She was front row and centre to Darnell's emotional and physical abuse to Naala. She had urged Naala many times to leave him but she couldn't force her to do it. She could only be there for the countless sleepless nights she had trying to console Naala. It hurt her to see her friend in so much pain so she was happy that Dave had been showing her what love truly is.
Naala sighed, she couldn't help but think that she didn't deserve someone like Dave - he was too good for her. Mia reached over and rubbed Naala's hand,
"You gotta stop doubting yourself Lala, he loves you! Nothing you do is gonna change that." Mia added, she too wanted Naala to experience true love, not the fucked up thing Darnell had been showing her all this years.
"You're right," she spoke, "I guess I'm just scared,". The truth was Naala was terrified. She was scared to let another man in, granted she has known Dave for a long time but now Sinai was involved. She didn't want her daughter to grow up experiencing her mom in toxic relationships, it's not right.
"We get it baby but you gotta let yourself enjoy it," Taina said to her. All the girls nodded and Naala gave a small smile. Her friends always had a habit of making her feel good. She picked up the menu again and began to scan it, deciding on her order she set the menu down and picked up her phone.
She glanced at her Instagram which was still popping off due to the picture Dave posted of her - she was yet to confront him about this. Naala then looked swiftly at her messages and tapped her sisters contact. She typed back a nice message and locked her phone, she was ready to make amends and just move on.
"How long does it take for a glass of water," Taina mumbled, it was like that jolted the waitress awake because not a second later she came over with their drinks. Her attitude seemed to have died down a bit,
"Here's your drinks, and um, sorry about my behaviour earlier that was rude. But are you Dave East's new girlfriend?" The waitress asked directing all her attention to Naala. Naala's eyebrows rose as she analysed the girl that stood before her.
"Me and a few of my girls were just talking and they said it's you," the waitress continued, pointing to the register where another young blonde girl stood, staring at the table that Naala and her friends occupied.
"Um, can we order now?" Mia said, tearing the waitress's eyes away from Naala. Naala was glad because she really didn't know what to say. She was not about to discuss her relationship with this 16 year old girl who looked she would run to TMZ the first chance she got.
"Uh, Yh sure what can I get you guys?" The girl spoke, her previous attitude peeking back up.
The girls rattled of their orders but all eyes were on Naala as she started hers,
"Can I get the turkey sandwich with no Mayo, a side of fries with extra salt, do y'all double fry your wings or you just bake 'em? Anyway I don't care, can I get some wings as well and then some mash potatoes with a bit of cheese and ooo is the Caesar salad good?" The waitress could barely keep up with all the demands,
"Just add on the salad, and lastly a apple slice with ice cream please," Naala concluded with a big smile on her face.
The waitress waddled off, still trying to write down Naala's whole order. Naala who was satisfied closed her menu and looked up at her friends who were both staring at her weirdly.
"Damn, I guess I'm gonna be a godmother to two babies by the end of the year," Taina teased, eyeing Naala up.
Naala gasped and began to shake her head,
"No N-no, only pregnant person at this table is Ms. Mia," Naala said confidently. She knew damn well that she couldn't be pregnant.
"You sure Lala, that was a big order" Mia said observing her friend. Even the sound of Naala's order was making her feel a bit nauseous.
"Yes! It's this new prescription from my doctor, it's got me eating all type of things," Naala explained, it wasn't a complete lie but she had noticed a few other things that had changed recently including her sex drive. She didn't know why but her and Dave were at it whenever they could. Sinai could go to the bathroom and Naala would be trying to ride Dave's dick, it was getting concerning.
"Mmm, okay miss mamas, we take your word for it" Taina laughed, noticing how rattled Naala was at their suggestion.
"Y'all are making me feel bad," Naala giggled, reaching for her ice tea. Looking over at Taina, she realised she had been staring at her phone like she was awaiting a message, since they got there.
"So Nana, who's message you waiting for?" Naala instigated wriggling her eyebrows,
Taina was a hard book to read. She was a girl who enjoyed the company of a lot of men and sometimes women and she didn't care who knew it. She was a very sexually free girl and hated the idea of being held down. Right now she was only talking to one guy because she was trying to explore a monogamous relationship, truthfully she was getting tired of her free lifestyle.
"Just this dude I've been speaking to," she said lowly.
Both girls squealed after she said that. It was known that Taina was not one to try and settle down so this news was music to her friend's ears.
"No way, where did you meet?" Naala asked, leaning forward, she wanted to hear this.
"Well actually you know him," Taina spoke, starting to feel nervous.
"Wait don't tell me it's who I think it is Nana?" Mia questioned, she was also very intrigued.
"It's Von —" Taina said quickly hoping they wouldn't hear it.
DeVonte Brown was Taina's first love. He was the reason she never wanted to be with only one guy. He broke her in so many ways that for 2 years she didn't have any relations with any man. Their relationship was very toxic and they both did things that they knew were wrong but he did worse. DeVonte managed to get Taina's half sister 'pregnant'. They were seeing each other for 6 months during him and Taina's relationship and they clearly weren't very careful. He claimed that the child was not his and he was right but that did not take away from the fact that he slept with her sister.
Taina was heartbroken and didn't speak to him for 5 years. A few months ago they ran into each other at the mall and have been speaking ever since. Taina knew her friends would not take this well. They despised Von for what he did to Taina. They were there for her when she couldn't even eat or sleep due to how much it hurt.
Naala sat there stunned, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Even though Taina wore a hard exterior at all times, she was a big softie at heart. Naala wasn't surprised by this because she knew how much Taina loved him, Mia on the other hand was very surprised. The way Taina would speak about this man you would think he was the devil himself, so to hear her saying she's speaking to him on a serious level was a big shock.
"I know what you guys are gonna say," Taina started, "We spoke and he's really changed y'all, we just going with the flow."
"I get that Nana but remember everything with Sasha? You really want to get into all that again?" Naala asked. Sasha was Taina's half sister and they did not get along at all. Taina always believed that Sasha was jealous of her and always wanted what Taina had. The icing on the cake was when she found out Von was dealing with Sasha - it broke her heart into a million pieces.
"That was 5 years ago, you guys are forever telling me I gotta move on, now I'm moving on it's a problem?" Taina said, a slight mug on her face. She was well aware of her history with Von and did not need them to throw it in her face.
"But you moving on with the same nigga Nana, that don't make sense," Mia said, shaking her head.
"Whatever man, it's like y'all like it when I'm down," Taina mumbled, that was a low blow and she knew it.
"Come on Taina, we want you to be happy, we care about you," Naala insisted,
"Then drop it!" Taina snapped. She now wished she never brought it up. It had ruined her appetite.
"Ok no more boyfriend talk," Mia said with an eye roll. It was funny to her that when the topic of conversation was on Taina she didn't want to speak on it but when it's on everybody else she's the first to give her opinion. "Let's not fight guys," Naala said trying to change the subject, "Sinai's birthday is coming up and me and Dave are thinking of taking her to Disneyland, y'all on it?" Dave and Naala spent a few weeks thinking about what to do for Sinai's birthday and Disneyland was the easiest option, she could invite all her friends and it would be a good break for the adults too.
"Ooooo that sounds lit," Mia said, "but I ain't got a kid --"
"Yet -" Taina mumbled, stifling a laugh, meaning she was over what just happened.
Gasping, Mia held her chest, "Bitchhhh," She dragged out, rolling her neck. Naala giggled and looked at both her friends, she loved it when they all got on. The girls were laughing and enjoying each others company when Naala's phone began to ring, seeing it was a private number she ignored it.
"I swear this damn restaurant is so slow, we need to get back to the office for your meeting at 3pm Naala," Taina said looking at her Rolex watch that sat perfectly on her wrist.
"I know, but I'm so hungry," Naala grumbled, looking at in the direction of where the waitress scuttled back to.
"It's your long ass order, me and Mimi just got a regular meal." Taina joked. Her belly began to rumble as she thought of the calamari and fries that she was about to devour. Taina had come a long way, she used to suffer from an acute eating disorder which worsened around the same time as her breakup with Von. She was finally at a place where she could eat food regularly without wanting to be sick.
As the girls were talking about Naala's order, their waitress finally came over, another worker in tow. They set the food down and the girls began to tuck in. Naala looked at her array of food and her mouth watered. Everything looked so good she didn't know where to start, she picked up and wing and bit into it, moaning as the flavours exploded in her mouth.
"Well damn, no wonder you pregnant now, all that moaning," Mia teased as she set down her burger, wiping her mouth slightly with her napkin. Taina burst out laughing at the shock of horror on Naala's face, she didn't realise she had moaned out loud. Naala put the wing down and grabbed a few chips,
"Stop putting that out into the air! I'm getting on the pill on God," Naala mumbled the last bit, she was actually worried because her and Dave had very frequent sex, but they certainly weren't ready for another baby.
On the other side of town, Chanel lay on the bed on FaceTime to her new boo. Dave had left to go and sort something out and had dropped Sinai off at his mom's house. This left Chanel alone and horny. She wouldn't dare invite him to Dave's house because that is like signing her own death certificate.
"Whatchu got on?" His deep voice sounded through the phone. His blonde dreads hung down on his brown face. His amber coloured eyes glistened through the phone and his thick bottom lip was wedged slightly between his straight white teeth. He was the most good looking man, Chanel had ever dated and her panties instantly grew wet at the sight of him.
"Why do you wanna know that Von? It's not as if you can come round here," Chanel pouted sweetly, Von chuckled at the pout and rearranged him self in his bed. "Don't you worry 'bout that, shit, why don't you pull up on a nigga?" It was no lie that Chanel was a beautiful girl but she was too young for Von, he was only looking to fuck but her brother was making it long. Chanel huffed and rolled her eyes, "How am I meant to get there, I told you my cars in the shop," She lied, Chanel did not have a car anymore, her mother took it away from her when she went out for the night and dint come back for 4 days.
"Ahhh, I can't come scoop you up today ma'," Von spoke, tugging at one of his dreads,

A noble Princess had taken her mother's mantle in order to uphold peace between the two races so humanity could co-exist with their fellow demons in a kingdom without strife, but war paved the road to peace in blood and such path is but a fragile thread awaiting to be ignited by the flames of hatred. Another great war awaits, but will she be able to avert it?Second iteration of the Knight's Fate saga chronologically speaking. Yes I'm starting from the second because the first was an utter failure when I tried to write it, it just didn't fit the mood of a fantasy novel unlike this one. Though don't worry this doesn't mean you can't enjoy this one before I write the first. This is the first story I've actually published so I appreciate any feedback, be it good or bad just let me know what you think.
