《What is Love? [Dave East FanFic]》6.

Dave sat solemnly in the living room as Naala busied herself in the kitchen making some tea to calm everyone's nerves. He looked around the grand living room and all he saw were different pictures of Naala, Darnell and Sinai.
He sighed at the fact that he should be in these pictures, he should have been there at her first holiday and at her first dentist appointment, even the small moments like when took her first steps - however he wasn't.
He stood up to analyse a particular picture of Naala and her man, she didn't look happy - if anything she looked terrified. It all started to make sense.
His jaw clenched at the look of this corny ass nigga. Dave began to think about how much abuse his daughter has been witnessing. That reminded him to find that nigga. He shot Bully a text, telling him to find out who this nigga was.
Naala walked out of the kitchen with two mugs of hot tea and a sad look on her face. Whilst in the kitchen, Naala had been thinking about what she was going to say to him and she still had nothing.
They sat down on the sofa both nursing the hot tea, not knowing what to say. Dave spoke up first,
"I see Lil Mama inherited my mug," He joked to ease the mood while pointing at the picture of Sinai that her mother took.
Naala chuckled as she remembered the events of that day. Azure and Naala had decided to take the girls to the fair and Sinai was getting frustrated with all the pictures her mother insisted on taking.
This particular picture was the last one Naala managed to take before Sinai jetted off to the cotton candy stand.
"She most definitely has your attitude! She is your carbon copy in that aspect," Naala said as she looked at Dave apologetically.
It hurts her to know that she had been depriving Dave of getting to know 'Nai especially now more than ever.
"David, you know I would never purposely keep her from you, I promise when she wakes up we can tell her together. This is all I've ever wanted Dave - please believe me."
"I know that Love, I'm just disappointed that's all. I would love to stay and talk to her but I don't think today is the best idea - I need some time to process alla' this - no hard feelings ma". Dave knew that he wanted to run into that room and hold Sinai but he was still trying to process this all.
He didn't want the first time with his daughter to be clouded by his negative thoughts. He also was focused on finding Darnell.
"I-I understand, do you want to go for lunch tomorrow? Sinai loves Mama Dee's as well." She pleaded hoping he would agree. The last thing she wanted was for Dave to leave here without some sort of understanding.
"I'd like that - here lemme see your phone." He grabbed her phone put his number in and saved in under 'Baby Daddy Dave💙'.
He wanted to lighten the mood as he could see how hard Naala was trying. Naala smirked at the name and tucked her phone back into her pocket. She really hoped this would work.
"Lemme walk you out," Naala strutted in front of Dave and he couldn't help but notice how well her ass fitted in those joggers.
His dick twitched as she swayed to the door effortlessly. He eyed her up until they got to the door where he cleared his throat and left. He dialled Bully's number and told him to meet him at Millie's - he needed to unwind.

Naala lay on her bed scrolling through her instagram looking at nothing in particular when her phone began to ring. It was her sister, Azure trying to FaceTime her. Naala picked up and sat up,
"Hey Sis!" Azure shouted into the phone while looking at Naala. It looked like she was in the kitchen and Naala could hear sizzling which confirmed that Azure was cooking.
"Hey Zuri," Naala said lowly still upset from the conversation she had with Dave earlier.
"How did it go Lala, what did he say? Also, Y'all didn't come back - he already broke that back right?" Azure quizzed.
She hoped her sister snapped up her opportunity to get some dick. She has always wanted her sister to tell Dave about Sinai but she couldn't force her to - it was their business.
"I wish Zuri, He didn't take it well, we got into it and he left. He gave me his number so we are gonna meet up tomorrow and tell 'Nai."
"Damn, I know that wasn't easy Girl so well done - he can't be angry forever ever 'La, he's just shocked that's all." Azure tried to reassure her sister because she knew that Naala's mental health can be really affected by an event like this.
Naala's mental health was really strained well she fell pregnant with Sinai during her 2nd year in college - she was later diagnosed with Mild Depression and Bipolar Disorder.
The pills she takes help keep this balanced and as of yet she hasn't relapsed since Sinai was born. Azure was there to witness Naala at her lowest and would never want her sister to experience that again - she wanted to keep her safe.
"I know Zuri, I just wish I didn't have to hurt him like this." She began to sniff and that turned into tears. Naala had always been an emotional person.
Even though she tries to seem well put together, she is a very sensitive person.
Azure turned down the stove and picked up her phone so she could speak to her sister properly.
"Lala stop crying!! He knows you wouldn't do it intentionally. You just have to make it up to him -- "
"How can I do that? He hates me I just know he does. I'm such an idiot - I - I ruined it, didn't I?" Naala now cried hard and she didn't even care about what her sister was saying.
All she wanted to do was show Dave how sorry she was but she didn't know how.
"Naala Miani Love! Crying is not going to fix this. Remember what Daddy used to tell us? Keep your head up and never lose sight of what you have in here." She pointed at her heart.
Azure's heart broke as she saw her sister break down because she knew nothing she said would make this situation better.
"You got to keep going Lala, Sinai needs you to be strong. Dave will get over this - go to that dinner with your head held high and fix this relationship." Naala looked up at her sister and wiped her tears. She was right - the only way to fix this was to keep going.
"Thank you Zuri - I love you so much - you know that right?"
"I love your Big head ass too! Now stop all that crying and lighten up. Oh and we going out tomorrow night -- ". Zuri slipped that in there and was not going to take no for an answer.

Her sister was 22 years old and behaved like she was someone's 75 year old grandma. They needed a night out - urgently.
They hung up the phone and Naala curled up in her covers resuming her instagram session. She decided to search up Dave and have a little snoop - something she has never had the courage to do before today.
She clicked on the search tab and typed in 'Dave East'. His profile was the first to pop up - she peeped the blue tick meaning he was verified.
Naala began to scroll down his feed - damn he looked good! She couldn't help but notice all the thirsty ass girls in his comments.

: Damn Daddy 👅😝
: @Milliebags your man is so fine Girl 🥵🥵
Naala raised her eyes at a particular comment that tagged a girl called Millie. Being nosy, she decided to click this girls instagram and was glad that it was public.
The girl had thousands of posts and only a few Dave in them so she guessed that this was his new fling of the month.
She wasn't the cutest so Naala definitely wasn't pressed but this girl seemed to proud to be flaunting a man that doesn't even follow her.
Naala shook her head and had to remind herself that she was also in a relationship and her and Dave were strictly just Sinai's parents.
She decided that was enough of Instagram and switched over to iMessage. She decided to send Dave a text,
Putting her phone down in a huff, she decided to ignore his last message. She locked her phone and turned over to sleep.
Naala was anxious about what tomorrow would hold but at this given moment that was the last thing she should be worrying about.
A very angry Darnell was sitting at his office looking at the text messages that Naala was sending and receiving. I have something for that bitch. He said to himself
-------------------------------------------------
Dave got out of his car and walked up his mother's driveway. He decided that the first person that should find out about Sinai should be his mother, he didn't know how she would take it but His mother, Sonia, had always had a soft spot for Naala.
Opening the door that he always tell his mom to keep locked , he was instantly hit with the smell of food. His belly rumbled at the smell and he followed the smell all the way to the kitchen where his mother stood swaying her hips to Kirk Franklin's new album.
"Mama, what did I tell you about locking that door!" Dave grunted at her. Sonia jumped and clenched her chest. She reached out to slap the back of his head,
"Boy, what have I told you about walking up in my house!' She nagged at him. Sonia was a short lady with beautiful caramel skin.
She looked amazing for her age of 42 - she always kept her hair and nails did and always rocked the latest fashion. Sonia had Dave at the tender age of 17 and she always said that her and her son grew up together.
Sonia lived in downtown New York with Dave's younger sister, Chanel. Chanel was in her 1st year of college and was in her rebel stage.
Sonia spent endless nights worrying about her daughter and spent half her time on the phone to Dave getting him to talk some sense into her.
😍
"I'm sorry Mama, damn --"
"Boy don't let me pop you in your mouth for cussing in my house." Dave had the best relationship with his mom but he didn't know how well she would take this information.
Dave watched his mom stirring something in the pot which smelt like Curried goat - his favourite. Looking on the side of the counter he saw some fried plantains, reaching over he grabbed a handful and forced them into his mouth before his mother could turn around.
"So why you back in New York boy?" His mom questioned. Trying to swallow the plantain he said in a hush tone,
"I came back for business ma but it looks like I might be staying longer than I expected."
"What do you mean? You got a girlfriend or something?". Sonia had now turned to face her son as she could hear the uncertainty in his voice.
"Mama, its Naala --"
"Oh my God finally! You guys were always meant to be together! Where is she? Why didn't you bring her with you? I made her favourite coconut cake last night - lemme cut her a piece." His mother rushed out, her excitement getting the better of her.
"No that's not it Mom - she has a daughter, Sinai." He mumbled avoiding his mother's glare.
"Oh, wow, how do you feel about that?" Sonia assumed her son didn't want to raise somebody else's child but that wasn't what was worrying him - she could tell.
"She's mine ma, Naala was pregnant before I left, she's 4 ma." Dave's voice broke as he finally told his mother. It felt good to tell someone the news - being that she was the first person he uttered the words to.
Sonia's hands flew over her mouth and tears gathered in her eyes as she saw her son upset.
"Well how did that happen Dave and why are you only finding out now?!" Sonia was shocked to say the least. Naala knew where she lived so why would she hide her granddaughter from her?
"I don't know Ma but she told me yesterday and I don't know what to do. 4 years! She let me live my life while she struggled for 4 years Ma!" Dave was beginning to get emotional as he thought about what Naala must have went through whilst she was in college.
"David all you can do is be there for her now, you didn't know so you can't beat yourself up about it."
"I know ma but she's been a mother for 4 years, she's a pro - I don't know the first thing about being a dad." Sonia knew that he would be a great dad but he didn't have the best role model to follow.
Dave's father has been incarcerated since his sister was born, 17 years ago. He didn't get the chance to have a relationship with his father and that took a toll on Dave.
All he ever wanted was to speak to his dad and do things all the boys in school were doing - but he couldn't. Sonia did her best to keep him off the streets but they lived in the hood and that was harder than she anticipated.
By the age of 18, Dave was beginning to get involved in the wrong crowd and his mother did what any mother would - she sent him to LA to stay with her brother who just happened to be a music producer.
This was something Naala didn't know as Sonia never got round to telling her. Naala only came looking for Dave twice and after that she disappeared before Sonia could tell her.
Dave had always been interested in rapping and she thought this would be the best thing for him - she did not know that she was sending him away from his daughter.
"Look at me boy, you will be the best father because I raised you to be a good man! You will build a relationship with her in no time - don't you worry. --" Sonia spoke whilst rubbing his shoulder soothingly.
"Thanks Ma - Naala wants us to go for lunch so we can tell Sinai together."
"Ok, I want to meet my first grand baby - bring them here when you guys are done. Me and Ms Naala have a lot to talk about." Dave sighed and hoped his mother wasn't on some shit but he agreed.
'Aight, make sure you make me a plate and don't let 'Nel get to it! Imma go before I get caught up in traffic. I love you ma and lock the door behind me!" Dave called out whilst he walked to the door.
He hopped into his brand new black Tesla and sped off in the direction of Mama Dee's. He made a mental note to check in on his baby sister later.
Pulling up to the restaurant, he parked next to Naala and began walking into the restaurant. He wore a red 'FROM THE DIRT' tracksuit with a pair of BALENCIAGA sneakers his chains hanging down low.
He spotted Naala and Sinai seated in a booth at the far end of the restaurant. The hostess at the front addressed him flirtatiously,
"Welcome to Dee's, eat in or takeout?" She chirped while popping her gum and puffing her chest to make her breasts look larger. Dave didn't pay her no mind because he was too busy staring at Naala.
"I'm meeting my girl and our daughter, I can see them there - watch out ma." He said whilst moving past her to walk to their booth. Dave didn't even realise that he addressed Naala as 'his girl'.
He couldn't help but stare at Naala who was looked perfect even though she wasn't trying to. She was dressed casually for once in an oversized band tee and a pair of blue mom jeans which she paired with her new Jordan 1s.
She had gotten her hair braided this morning at the salon so she left her braids to hang elegantly down her back.
