I had no time to observe the luxury that the car offered as the demon beside me was going on a rampage. He whizzed passed the cars as their honking and lights blurred before me.

I read every dua which I could think of, praying that I would make it out alive. Throughout my fear, I glanced at the speedometer, the 100 mph causing my already erratic heart beat to increase alongside my prayers.

My current situation brought out the grandma in me which I never knew I had. I wouldn't have minded this speed on the motorway, but on normal roads, the demon was practically asking for a death wish. And unfortunately If that happened I would also be caught up in it too.

This continued for a couple more minutes until we stopped. I didn't open my eyes, knowing if I did, I would find everything blurry. The clearing of a throat broke me from my racing thoughts.

I looked at the demon as his amused eyes met my terrified ones. I followed as his gaze went to his arm. I instantly withdrew my hand from him as if he'd burned me.

I walked out after the demon, as he took me to some sort of forest. The moon and street lights provided enough light to see trees. Trees upon trees. I took this time to take out my phone and text Lameesa I would be late. She must be worried why I was taking so long just for a walk. She replied within seconds with an 'okay In sha allah'.

Tucking my phone away, I ran after the demon as his one stride equated to three hurried paces of my own. God how it felt being short.

I didn't realise with all the keeping up that we stopped next to a big tree. Or I stopped next to a big tree. I must have been too caught up with the gloomy atmosphere that I didn't realise the demon had disappeared. Where was he? I swear a few seconds ago he was infront of me.

"Hello" my voice called out, as I heard a hooting from a distance.

It was unfortunate as I didn't know the demons name and hence couldn't call for him.

"Mr Rey" I remembered instead what uncle had referred to the demon when he was stood in our living room.

I turned the flashlight to the front of me, whilst my mind went into overdrive. Where was that demon. Was this his plan all along, to leave me alone in the dark forest, with no human contact. Or maybe he was planning to murder me and was gathering sticks to burn my body with them after.

"Boo" a sinister voice called from behind me, causing goosebumps to erupt on my skin. I was left immobilized, similarly to when someone would have sleep paralysis whilst the scary person lingered around them and they couldn't do anything about it.

Hands gripped my shoulders and within that second, I let out a scream so loud and terrifying that it scared me even more. I was suddenly turned around, dizzy and frightened.

My worried eyes met with mischievous ones which were none other than the demons. I felt like crying out in relief I wasn't alone and wouldn't die tonight, judging by the demons good mood.

"Next time refrain from screaming like a banshee" he voiced his displeasure but I didn't mind one bit. I was just happy I wasn't alone in the woods.

I nodded along, this time staying close to him wherever he was leading us to.

We continued walking for what felt like ages so I thought this would be the best time to strike a conversation. Anything to forget the eery feeling I had.

"So what's your real name"

"Why"

"Because I'm curious"

"Well in that case, curiosity killed the cat"

"Huh"

His eyebrows raised at my stupidity, his eyes looking down at me, mocking me.

"You don't understand English?"

The heat rushed to my cheeks and for once I was thankful to the dark for hiding the pinkness of them.

"O-of course I do. I just don't know why you won't tell me your name" I said with a pout. Of course I could care less whether he told me or not, I was just curious.

It was silent after that. Nothing else was said between us for a good two minutes until we reached an empty, muddy area. The tall trees surrounded us in a tight circle.

The demon seemed to be shuffling about at the mud, mumbling words in Spanish as he did so. I looked around me, which is ironic I say that because I could not see anything. The flashlight from my phone provided little to no help.

I situated the light at the demon, hoping to see what he was doing. I looked at his hands which were dirty and grimy from digging in the mud. My face scrunched in disgust as I eyed them. What a dirty man.

What was he doing digging around in the dirt.

My question was soon answered when the demon bent down and pulled up a door of some sort. It was a square shape about half a metre long. The man's eyes beside me glimmered. The type of look which would leave you dizzy and confused.

My phone trembled in my hands when I flashed the light at the door. This door was bad news. It was a tunnel of some sorts with metallic stairs that led down to the unknown.

The demon picked up a rock from nearby, throwing it in the tunnel. It was dead silent, and after twenty seconds, a thump was heard. The rock had reached the ground and so did my heart.

That was a deep drop.

"Follow me" he commanded in his deep gruff voice. No. No way In hell was I going down that.

"I have a fear of heights. I am not going down that thing" I said, stepping away form the tunnel as if someone would throw me in it.

"I didn't ask you. Now hurry"

I shook my head again, turning on my steps. Before I could take another step away from him, a grip on my hijab held me back.

The wind blew around us, as his dirty hands gripped my scarf in a tight grip. I turned around ready to go off on a tangent, but our proximity stopped me. He stood so close to me, it wasn't helping that the wind was blowing me forward from behind.

"Don't make me repeat myself girl. I am in no mood for your games" and he indeed wasn't if his serious expression was anything to go by. I gulped nodding.

"Good. Now you go first"

With slow tentative steps, I stood next to the tunnel, wondering how I would get down. I looked back at the demon, my eyes wide and fearful.

"I-im scared" he walked forward, looking from over my shoulder at the deep tunnel. He cursed in spanish as i stood there with shaky legs. I breathed in and out, thinking of Allah and his mercy.

"I'll carry you down then if you're so scared"

"No!" I returned back almost immediately as he smirked. The conniving dastard.

With steady steps I inched towards the hole, kneeling down on my knees and slowly bringing out my legs on top of the staircase. The demon surprisingly, was patiently waiting above me, yet there was an aura of menace around him. There must not have been one second that didn't go by where he wasn't calculating his next move.

Reciting a Dua under my breath, I lowered myself further into the dark pit, my feet wobbling unsteadily on the metal stairs. I was about five steps down when water hit my forehead. I looked up to see light droplets falling down.

"Darse prisa" he grumbled and emphasised his point by shaking the flashlight around. I quickly got a move on, not wanting to annoy the demon than what he already was.

After a good three minutes of almost having a heart attack and non stop prayer, I felt ground beneath me. I screamed a "I'm here" before thanking God for bringing me down in one piece. Alhamdulillah.

A loud band was heard from above, which I'm assuming was the demon shutting the secret door. Soom enough, footsteps coming down was heard. With the help of my phone's flashlight, I was able to see a tunnel leading on and on and on. It was so long, I didn't know where it ended.

"How are your hands so clean?" The shock was clear in my question as I saw no speck of mud or dirt. He then held out a water bottle which I was unaware of, as my mouth formed an O shape. Gosh I just couldn't help myself look any more dumber.

I turned around, not wanting to further amuse the demon.

"Take your shoes off" he spoke from behind me. I turned back around, looking at him stupidly. After a few seconds his words ringed in my mind and I was quick to listen to what he'd said.

"Why would I need my shoes off" I asked, internally upset my fluffy socks would get dirty.

"Because, we don't want to leave a trace" he spoke, holding his own pair of boots in his hand and walking ahead of me.

"Now follow me and don't say a word until I ask you to. Do you understand" his jaw tightened with each passing second of no response.

"Yes. I understand... But I still want to know what is your n-" his glare stopped me from any further questions. Looks like this would be a long and boring walk to our destination.
