We looked in the face of truth
As it told us lies
{Anonymous}
_______
I woke up like any other weekend, doing my morning routine, making the Mukhtars breakfast excetra.
For some of reason, although I made breakfast, I could not smell it and neither could I taste it. Had I gone down with the flu?
It was now midday, and a letter had come for me. Kira came rushing into the Living room, causing Lameesa to pause the movie. I looked at Kira expectantly, wondering what she was so eager about.
She looked at me intently with a gust of anger in her. Never had I ever seen Kira like this before. What did I do to make her so angry and resentful towards me.
I couldn't help but think about an incident where I may have made her feel bad about something or if she was ever hurt by my words. Although I doubt I ever did as we were like sisters. And I loved her and her twin equally as much as Nadir.
I took the envelope from her outstretched hand, the room suddenly going ten shades darker. I could feel a sense of unease in the air and I soon realised why.
The cursed crown was engraved onto the envelope, as I hastily opened it.
Lameesa and her sisters looked eagerly at the letter, and if I wasn't mistaken, their eyes Increased in size, making them look like barbie dolls.
The three of them looked up at me, as I gulped. They truly did resolve barbie dolls. I could feel sweat rippling down my face and into my hijab clad neck. It was getting excruciatingly warm.
With each rip of the envelope, I could sense the three sisters getting closer to me, peeking over my shoulder. I couldn't help the shiver I felt. The sofa which they were sat on now was a sickly green. It had somehow transformed from it's lovely cream colour to that of puke.

Maybe it was showing how I felt inside.
"Open the letter Laila" Lameesa monotoned.
"Yeah. Open the letter Laila. Let's see what's written" Sajdah chimed in, the sisters whispers sounding controlled. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't get out the room.
I vividly remember Kira opening the door behind her whilst giving me the letter. Not once do I recall the door being closed, and locked. Which was strange as I also don't recall that padlock there. It seemed to speak to me, forbidding me to get out of this room.
I suddenly felt claustrophobic.
Having enough of the eery silence, I opened the letter and bacame terrified of what lay before me.
I felt like doing sick all over the already sickly sofas, but stopped myself. Lameesa, Kira nor Sajdah seemed to mind this. They looked on at the blood with thirsty eyes, and I couldn't help but reel back in shock.
What was going on?
Blood was splashed on the pristine white paper, which wasn't so white anymore. The blood conjured itself up and moved around the paper creating words. I would've long binned the paper had I not remembered who this was from and what they would do to me if they realised I had done so.
You. It read out.
Killed.
I looked on at the blood puzzle confused of what the paper was portraying to me.
Them...
You killed them.
I-i killed who?
What was this?
As if the words on the paper weren't enough to shake me to my core, voices around me began chanting the cursed letters on the paper. I closed my eyes hoping whatever I witnessed and heard would go away.
But it only got louder.
Seemingly having enough, I stood up In anger and shouted.
"Enough!"
I then realised it was the three sisters who were now screaming.

"You killed them!"
"You killed them!"
A loud beep went off in my ear, causing only me to cover them with my entire bodys' strength. And then it all stopped.
Silence. What I'd been longing for.
Auntie and uncle walked around the sofa I'm front of me. Where did they come from?
They were also painting the same hateful and eery looks as their daughters. Did they teleport through the doors? Or from a different dimension?
They all gathered in a line, walking towards me menacingly. I inched back wondering the reason for their actions. The same cursed chant was brought back.
"You killed them" they now said in unison. I shook my head, sobbing and attempting to explain I didn't kill anyone! I am innocent! But my words fell on deaf ears.
They lunged forwards towards me. They would've got me had I not moved fast behind the sofa. I quickly attempted to open the door, but the stupid padlock was preventing me. Their presence got nearer whilst my actions became erratic.
As if by some miracle, the padlock gave way in my hands and crumbled down into ash. Not waiting aymore I left, slamming the door shut behind me. I paused to gather my thoughts and beating heart.
Their chants were no longer heard.
The air was cut by a shrill tone. I looked at my phone, relieved to have known my parents were calling me. Only they could make me feel better now.
"Hello dear how are you" Papa said, his voice lower than usual. My words died down with his next words.
"Why did you kill them" he exclaimed. I was now stood next to the staircase almost using it as a tool to help me stand up.
What was wrong with my dad.
"Baba, what are you talking about" I voiced wanting to know the reason for his hurtful words.
"Answer your father dear" mum chimed in.
"Why did you kill them"
"Yeah. Why did you kill them" Nadir screamed. I was frozen in my place shocked by whatever was happening.
"Why did you kill them" their voice morphed into one. Now I could hear a grave voice. If there was one thing I would associate this voice to, it was the devil. Only the devil had the ability to sound so terrifying and insidious.
But now, I learned it was also my blood.
I ended the call and ran straight to my room. This time, I made sure the door was properly locked. The same padlock which had turned into ash was now here on my door. Wherever it came from, I was thankful that no one would be able to come in.
I didn't know how it was possible after everything that happened today, but I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
Only to then wake up.

Tur Briste
A Druid cultivation novel. Borrows concepts from Wuxia and Xianxia but using Druid myth and lore. More on this at the bottom. Crow is son of Maddox, a Druid with an ancient bloodline and a people with a story spanning toward the beginning of time. Cursed, unfated, and a heap of bad luck have brought him only pain and suffering, but nothing will stop him. Nothing can stop him. A son of Maddox doesn’t bow his head. A son of Maddox understands that only a man with roots, with something to lose, will fight until the last drop of blood leaves his body. The Draoidh were once a proud people. They were both respected and hated for their form of righteousness. Power wasn’t something they gained through the might of their arms, but through intelligence. Their fall was all the more disheartening for the weaker cultivators. The tens of thousands of years that followed… chaos reigned. They forced Draoidh until most fled to the lower realms, nearly wiped out and exhausted. They went into hiding and became known as the Druids of the Oak. The Druid Order wasn’t the powerhouse it had been, and only nine of the major clans survived the calamity. Their bloodline weakened, as well as their prestige. Even the remaining clans fought amongst each other. Already on the decline and near extinguished, the Maddox clan can only struggle for survival, but their foundation wasn’t a joke. Weakened, but not weak. The other clans will understand this difference soon enough. Tur Briste, the Shattered Tower, awaits Crow’s ascension. Reaching the upper realms is only the first step in reestablishing the Draoidh. The Druids of the Oak remembered every betrayal and grievance, and they’ll return to power and reclaim what once belonged to them. The upper realms may have forgotten, but the Druid Order has not. Please Note:1) This is harem story. There are only a few chapters with sex, and it’s not a focus of the story. I’ll only add graphic sex if I feel the story needs it, so not gratuitously. Either way, Crow has several women. This is in line with Druid/Celtic history, and harems/reverse harems were an accepted part of their culture. Further, they had open marriages, meaning the man or woman could end their marriage at any time. While it was still a patriarchy, women had almost equal power. They were a very progressive culture. 2) There is a period of a 30-50 chapters where Crow loses the ability to cultivate like a Druid so he adopts an eastern body cultivation method for a while. This is temporary, but some people feel it’s misleading, so I am pointing it out ahead of time. I promise, the Druid stuff comes back, and 90% of the lore/myths/creatures/gods are all related to Druid/Celt/Irish/Scottish history. 3) I use many original names, most of which are in Gaelic or Irish. In the story, I refer to this language as Ancient. I enjoy all kinds of folklore and myths, so I encourage you to google those original names as they arrive. I give some background on them at the end of the chapter in my author’s note. 4) I use Ogham runes a lot, these are like the Druid alphabet, and they based each rune on a sacred tree so they also have symbolism associated with them. Again, feel free to google that too. It’s pretty neat stuff. Quick Translations:Draoidh = DruidTur Briste = Shattered Tower or Broken Tower Release Schedule:As of Oct 1, 2021- 3 chapters released every Sunday (May have up to two bonus chapters)- Side character chapters… this might be bonus chapters I release through the week. So they won’t count toward the 3 chapters on Sunday.- Please understand I work full time, have two kids, and can’t spare as much time as I’d like toward my writing. Maybe in the future I can switch to doing this full time, but for now 3 chapters is a comfortable pace for me. Lastly… I very much appreciate all my readers and thank you for allowing me to entertain you!
