《The Devil's Bride》Silver's mistake

"Oh wow! That's great, Linda." She said using my name for the first time. It sounded weird on her lips considering she had some sort of British accent. "You're going to be eighteen." She pointed out.

I grimaced recognizing the fact that I was turning into a new age, practically an adult. Deep down inside of me, I had this sickly feeling. I didn't want to celebrate my birthday and from the looks of it, I wasn't. Birthdays were meant to be special.

I am sure Synn doesn't even know my birthday or care to. Even though he did and wanted to celebrate it, no amount of gift could make me happy. I just wanted freedom of my own. I mean freedom from everything that had taken a turn.

Anna's concerned voice breaks me out of my gloomy thoughts. "Are you okay?"

I nodded and told her that I am and she shouldn't bother. After she had left, I left for the library.

Opening the deep rust-coloured mahogany door, I walk into the bright-coloured library. It's so weird how books had their own distinctive scent. It's exquisite and foreign.

I walk to my session of books that I had arranged for myself. There was an empty section in the library when I'd first come. Silver said I could put in all my pop-up books in the sector and have it especially for me.

The new books that I'd gotten in the mall sat nicely on the racks. I drew out one of them and walk back to the couch. The library was honestly only the quiet place in this house. A place where I had my own freedom.

"You've not been here for quite some time." A deep voice rumbled. I looked up from just opening a page and up above me was Owel.

I almost forgot he was here.

His yellow eyes study me through and drop to stare at the book on my lap. Something was going on with this man, I thought.

"Been busy." I shrugged nonchalantly going back to opening the page. I suddenly heard the quiet tap of his feet on the resinous floor, every tap was vexatious. Each step of his foot made my inners scream with annoyance.

"Can you please stop?" I asked. I know he knows that he was intentionally making me annoyed and from the looks of it, he was enjoying himself.

"Sure. Where is your teacher?" His yellow eyes look into my browns ones causing me to look away. His eyes were yellow to the point of coercion. But not as intimidating as Synn's.

My teacher?

"What?" I question, confusion over my face.

"Silver or whatever you call him."

It clicked. He meant Silver. I don't know if what he said was true but in a way it was. I mean, he teaches me a lot of things.

"I don't know," I said bluntly. "Didn't see him this morning." Reticence took over the library as I just continued surveying the pictures that popped up in the book. Silver had stopped teaching me since we went to the mall and I was lacking in a lot of things. Never did I come to think that I would be reading or even knowing how to spell my name. I guess there was hope for the living.

"So tomorrow is your birthday, huh?" His uncivil voice starts. I raise my head to look at the yellowed eyes standing before me bowing unto the dark-coffee brown cupboard. His lips were partly opened with a wicked grin.

"Who told you that?"

"I just happen to know." He said picking on his long nails.

A skimpy silence occupied the room followed by his loud groan. "Okay, fine! I heard you telling Anna about it." He confessed.

I readjust myself on the couch, closing the book and directing my interest on Owel buffy form. His yellow eyes keep staring at me profoundly like he could read and tell me what he saw. I wasn't sure if I was an open book but he made me felt like I was with his stare.

"You were eavesdropping you little bee!" I hollered before I could even stop myself from doing so. I didn't mean to call him a bee but his eyes did actually reminded me of one. He glares at me but not the kind of one that said he was offended or angry.

"Did you just call me a bee?" He asked in a fake voice like he was hurt. It's good he wasn't offended. I didn't need him throwing outbursts like Synn.

"Sorry I didn't mean to. Your eyes just remind me of one. " I said honestly tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. He only shrugs and stops leaning onto the shelf.

"My eyes are pretty just like me." He throws a vague hair behind his back and I can't help but let out a giggle. Maybe Owel wasn't spooky or odd. He had a similar witty behaviour like Silver.

"Why are they yellow?" I can't help but ask.

"Was born with them." He folds his arms around his chest and smirks.

"Why are your boobs big?"

I let out a disastrous squeak at his choice of words and questions. Was he seriously asking me that? He didn't have any shame or whatsoever. Like seriously, did he have to ask that?

"Owel!" I whispered-yelled. He blows out a chuckle finding my reaction to his question funny. "My bad." He says through laughter.

My cheeks were all flushed from embarrassment. I once got a comment from Abriana one day while I was cleaning my room that I had big breasts. But I didn't see it. My breasts weren't that big to me...I guess.

"You are naughty!" I commented.

"And you're cute." He told.

I was seriously not having it. His funny jokes were not funny to me but I guess that was how he showed it through nasty comments. I frown, crossing my hands around my chest just in case his eyes were focusing on them.

"I'm not cute and stop saying stuff like that," I say with a roll of my eyes getting up to leave the library.

"No one can stop me. Plus, I'm saying the truth." He huffs going around the shelves. I adjust the hair on my head and turn to leave.

"Just be careful and have a nice time." I utter but his incoherent words to himself didn't get him to hear me.

Closing the door after me, I walk down the stairs. I didn't know what to do and I wasn't in the mood for a movie. I was just hoping I see Silver to check up on him. Not hearing from him today was unusual and eerie.

Once I get down the stairs, what I see isn't what I expected.

Silver was laying down on one of the couches holding on to a bottle of booze. His eyes were bloodshot proving even in his behaviour. Furthering his actions, I see some unknown people holding on to the same bottle as him grinning and trading talks. The mini MP3 was turbulent, blaring the entire room with the loud rap. The room was aroused with the sickening reek of alcohol.

How did I not hear this upstairs?

"S-silver?" I ask in apprehension coming forth so he could see me. I never thought Silver could pull off this act. It was remarkable how he was still able to hold on to his bottle even in his injured state. I see the look of solicitude in his eyes but was immediately replaced by the funny gleam in his eyes.

Did Synn know of this?

"Oh, lucky Linda. Welcome to the party." He slurred, the alcohol having an immense effect on him through his speech. He stands up and walks towards me, swaggering on his way.

"What a wonderful surprise to have joined. The party just got started." By now, his friends were already watching me. My cheeks flush from their stare but my focus was on Silver as I was trying to understand what he was saying.

His breath burned through the air and I almost puke in front of him. "What are you s-saying?" I asked.

He laughs and turns around to face his friends for a second before turning to me. "This is a party and you're invited." His grip tightened on my wrist pulling me forward to where his group of friends sat. I could my body racking with ardent worry. I wasn't ready for what was about to come. The cold air from the rain flaps inside the room tainting my face with goosebumps.

"What pa...try?" I shuttered. My guts were right about the situation from the so-called party. He releases his hold on my grip and bents to take a new bottle of alcohol.

"Take a swing!" He cheered over the loud music. I could feel nausea getting more influential and air mayhap more fraternal. Why was no one coming? Did no one hear this? I know it had been simple to decline Silver of the alcohol but the look on his friends' faces scared me.

"Silver this is not right! You're drunk." I tried to convert. I hope he wasn't going to try to force me to drink any of the stinks. I hope he was still the Silver I knew.

"I'm drunk?" He asked, the stench of alcohol hit me greatly as I scrunch my nose in disgust.

"Yes," I said pulling the alcohol down to the table hoping he changed his mind on telling me to drink and maybe realizing his heedless act.

"Don't listen to her, Siv." One of his friends speaks up busting my sortie into convincing him to stop his drinking. "She is going to drink the shit! She's just shy." I could see the devilish smirk on the blonde making me slither. I felt that he wanted me to drink but I didn't want to. I didn't want anything like this. I look around hoping to see Anna or maybe Owel.

"Ah!" Silver cuts through my searching. "You don't need to be shy. Come on. Drink." He urges flipping off the muselet off the alcohol.

The strong intoxicating smell of the alcohol hits me firmly. I felt like throwing up but that won't be a good sight. I look at Silver's inebriated state to see him shaking his head urging me to take a sip. I have never taken anything like alcohol and Silver was just trying to break that record.

"No!" I reverberated becoming defeated from his immature act. Drunk or not, he needed to know that what he was doing was wrong. He couldn't just allow some random strangers to come into the house without Synn's permission. I never thought I'd think like this but this was Synn's house and Silver was just a guest. That didn't give him the authority to just crash it.

"You need to stop this-"

I was arrested mid-sentence and spun around. The unfamiliar black browned-eyes look into mine causing the bones on my flesh to shiver. Ahead of me was one of Silver's friends. His large hands grip my small ones in his grasp. Next to his left eyebrow was a long scar that was drawn to his lips shaping a scar. His lips were a dark shade of pink from the unhealthy habit of smoking. He was intimidating, his eyes even worse.

"He said to drink the fucking beer! Don't waste our fucking time with your voice." He says, his harsh voice was deep. I gulp softly. Silver was drunk but he wasn't. Silver was making me drink against my own will but that could be blamed on his drunken state. He wouldn't force me into anything but this man...was sane.

"No!" I mumbled trying to appear tough but only appeared weak. I feel the roll of his chest from the vibration of his chuckle.

"You're trying to appear all big and tough, eh?" He mocks. Loud peals of laughter fill the air from the group of Silver's friends, my cheeks heated.

Why did Silver keep this type of friend?

"Drink the fucking beer." He says through gritted teeth bringing the bottle close to my lips. I scrunch my nose leaning my head astern to avoid the close contact of the bottle.

When he sees my resistance, he slams the bottle on the table and brutally grabs my wrist. He pushes me on the couch he sat on previously and hovers on top of me, his height cowering.

Grabbing my both wrist, he pins them to the side of my body. I could feel his weight on me and he was heavier than a pig. His grievous nails dig into my skin causing me to whimper from the harsh connection.

He leans close to me, his face only an inch apart. I feel his hot breath hits my face causing me to squirm under his hold.

"You're cute and all but I hate annoying bitches like you." He spats. I feel his fingers twirl with the fabric of the sweater next to my neck. He pulls it down a little baring a small skin.

"Nice flesh." He comments. I cringe at his statement as I struggle to escape the claws of the huge buffalo. I didn't even know when tears start to fall down my cheek. I didn't know what this man wanted from me but I wasn't going to give anything.

"Leave me!" I scream shaking my wrists in his. I see the smirk formed on his face from my murky vision.

"So sweet." He says leaning in to attack his dangerous lips on my neck. I gasp when I felt the cold contact of his lips on my neck. I flinch immediately when I feel more of his kisses on my neck as he drew my sweater further down.

Tears were already down my cheeks. I wish this could stop. I don't even know what Silver was up to anymore when I didn't hear his slurry voice. My back arches uneasily on the couch.

"No one invited me to this party."
