《Lose Myself》Chapter Fifty-Two: Tough Love

"Oh man," I scratched my neck, "We're out of guac."
"And you know how much I love my guac." Amara didn't look up from her book, I nodded.
"I guess I'll have to go out and get some more." I sighed closing the fridge and grabbing the keys.
"Hey Dominic, you don't have to do that!" she frowned looking up, her gaze following as I walked away.
"Don't be so entitled Amara, I like guac too." I chuckled.
I heard a soft, "Oh." before grabbing my jacket from the foyer closet. I walked back and pecked her forehead. "I'll be back before you know it."
She pouted as I turned to leave.
"Ciao bella!" I announced my departure before closing the door.
I parked my motorcycle outside the convenience store, the place was practically deserted. I went to the cheese and so forth aisle and grabbed the guac, not leaving until I got an ice tea for Amara. I paid for the stuff but got held up by the services guy near the exit, he held up some Beats Headphones. "Try these, it's like nothing you've heard before! Even if you've heard the song before."
"Low on sales?" I chuckled putting the bag down and sliding the contraption over my ears. The song wasn't half bad, I definitely hadn't heard it before. I felt a sting in my thigh but didn't focus on it whilst giving the headphones back. I noticed the dart when I bent over to pick up my grocery bag.
"Sh-t." I muttered.
"Is everything okay?" the dude asked trying to get a look.
I cleared my throat, "Nah its fine. Thanks." I pointed to the headphones in his hands and quickly walked outside, I didn't stop till I was around the corner.
Things were starting to get blurry, I pulled the stupid thing out and stashed it in the grocery bag. A guy walked up to me, I managed to say 'at least bring the guac' before I lost my speech and my sight.
Amara was going to be so f-cking pissed.
"So what did he do?" I asked Travin who lugged the guy into the back seat.
He held up the plastic bag, "He just asked me to bring his guacamole."
I frowned, "Does he not take us seriously?" There was silence.
Emilie sighed, "He thinks she'll come for him."
I laughed, "How stupid can he be? What can she do?"
"A lot." Emilie looked genuinely worried.
"Leave the bag. Let's go."
Hour 1, hour 2, hour 3...
I'd been counting, he's been gone for three whole hours. It doesn't take that long to get guac.
I sighed getting up, you know when I'm fatter I won't be able to run after him like this. Talk about pushing it. I'm just hoping Santo won't try push a knife into my abdomen.
I changed into my jumpsuit which wouldn't fit in a week I bet and slid on my coat as well. I got upset seeing Dominic's still hanging there, it'll just be me today.
"Dominic Vitiello. Today you die."
I heard some chick's voice, I rolled over but even that spot was still cold. So I was definitely on the ground, I bet they didn't expect me to sleep this cosy on the concrete floor. I opened my eyes slowly then sat up shocked.
"Emilie?!" I rubbed my eyes.
"Correct." she nodded, she was cute in a trying to be scary but really isn't kind of way.

"What the f-ck are you doing?" I shook my head realising I was surround by seven other guys, I slowly got up.
"Performing the works of justice." she replied lifting her chin fraction higher and adjusting the grip on the gun she had to my face.
I laughed, "Amara is going to be so pissed." I stopped smiling.
"He's realised his mistake." this other guy smirked. I held a hand up in his direction.
"She's going to be so disappointed in you." I pulled a straight face then looked to the ground, "And me too."
"No she won't!" she was clearly unstable.
A different guy - who'd been sitting I noticed - walked over and put hands on both her shoulders, "Let's not loose our temper. Death is too easy and you know it. Let's have fun with it."
"Fun?" she was shaking.
I looked at the guy daring him to speak, he looked up at me then smirked and whispered in her ear.
"You have a death wish." I stepped forward.
"Why do you think I'm in this business?" he laughed, "Anyways, you're boring. Maybe we should lure your girlfriend here."
"She doesn't need to be lured. She can find me wherever I go."
"Right." he said sarcastically, then he sat back down.
I looked inside the convenience store, its when I look outside that I found what looked like a little splutter of blood and spilt ice tea. Which blood and ice tea are both substances which I consume at least monthly, Dominic would've been here. I wonder where the guac went.
I walked around a bit then moved on to the carpark, I spotted a half spilt tub of guac in a grey plastic bag. Bingo.
Convenience store confirmed, point of struggle confirmed.
So he was taken from me?
How rude.
--
I sat in the local library and this computer was sure taking its time. There was a dart I'd found along with the guac - which probably had been used to weaken Dominic. 'Cause lets be real, they wouldn't have him otherwise.
It had a manufacturing address and code for purchase imprinted to the barrel, which was inconvenient to have for the criminal but convenient for me because it was in German. I tracked it back to a manufacturer then filed a 'missing product complaint' so they could track the rest of the package for me. It took a bit of hacking since I didn't have the identity information required to access the information, but I was in and it was tracking them for me. Wherever those other darts are I'll be led right to them.
I'd almost fallen asleep when the computer beeped 'complete', I wrote down the information of a man named 'Adel Schmidt' and his residential address. I can't believe I have to go back there, what a waste of time.
--
I looked through the cupboard and found two sets of contact lenses, one unopened and the other opened. I opened the unopened ones and put them on, like hell I'd get through the international airport without a disguise. Dominic's lenses looked weird on me, maybe because the hair colour didn't go well or he just looked better.. whatever the case - I'd have to get used to it.
I tied my hair in a pony and used makeup to make my lips smaller and my brows a different shape. I didn't bring a bag but instead hoped there would be a tap nearby, I hate makeup and doing this didn't necessarily make me look 'better'. It looked poorly done because I wasn't following my features but at least I didn't look like myself, that's what I was aiming for.

I walked through the airport trying really hard not to be super shady, this was getting harder and harder but I made it through. When I got to the other side with my fake passport and without paying, I sat where I wouldn't draw much attention and hoped it would last the next hour.
When we arrived I hid amongst the crowd and walked around the security, this airport didn't have a much security so I didn't even get my passport checked.
I got out then hired a motorbike which I promised to give back even though I knew it wouldn't last for sure. Starting it up I used the attached GPS to enter the address and started my trip, it'd be a trek and when I got there I'd gut whoever it was who thought it was a good idea to bring a pregnant lady out of her house and all the way to another country.
Once I switched off the bike a lot of the ruckus seized, I guessed they would be expecting me but they must not be very respected if they were making that kind of noise in the first place. The building was kind of run down, clearly abandoned and own by the government but these guys obviously don't care too much for the law.
The 'I don't give a rat's ass' front.
I spotted a tap and used the water to wash my face, I was so goddamn tired of all these people getting in the way of my life. I remember a time when I used to go out of my way not to involve people in my problems, seems like I couldn't have helped it either way. These people had minds of their own and they didn't think straight.
I knocked loudly, "Give me back my property!"
The door flung open, "Sorry what?" a guy who looked a little younger smirked, his eyes immediately travelled downwards and I felt the urge to zip my jumpsuit all the way up. But it wasn't me who was doing anything wrong.
"Where's my husband dipsh-t?" I pushed past him, several men stood on the other side holding pistols at me. I raised a brow then kept walking which amusingly confused them. I opened the door with a guy in front and spotted Dominic sitting against the wall looking terribly bored even though his jaw was bruised and he had a couple of cuts on his forearms. A part of my brain immediately clicked.
"Is this some kind of joke?" I asked seriously.
"Does it look like it?" the guy who sat in the chair looked at his nails.
I walked over, "Are you Adel Schmidt?"
He looked up surprised, "How do y-" He didn't finished because I slapped him in the face. Automatically all the men circled me with their guns pointed. I grabbed one of them twisted their arm and took their weapon, holding it to Adel's head.
"Amara!" a familiar voice called, "Don't. It's not his fault. He doesn't care about Dominic or anything."
I turned to come face to face with... Emilie.
That bitch.
As she turned to me I realised how right Dominic was, he'd said she'd be disappointed and she was. Amara's emotions could always be read by her facial expressions, seeing that made me feel so ashamed. But what I was doing was right, I know it.
"You needed this." I whispered.
She switched the safety on the gun off as she walked towards me and pointed it to my face, "I what?" she breathed, frowning at me from behind the weapon.
"Don't you like me anymore?"
"I liked you before," she shrugged then turned serious, "Before you kidnapped my husband, made my pregnant ass self travel all the way across two countries and told me I needed it!"
"Pregnant?" I could hear the shock in my own voice.
"Don't be such a sourpuss Emilie, are you jealous? Is that why you're doing this?" she lowered the gun, "You can do it too you know, you can move somewhere new and meet someone and make something of yourself."
"It's true." Dominic commented from his spot on the floor, Amara nodded in his direction saying 'See? even he says so!' but I didn't want his opinion, I wouldn't have it.
"He," I pointed with my shaky arm, "He isn't good for you, he does bad things. Actual bad things."
"Actually he lives with me, he doesn't do much." she replied, not taking me seriously.
I watched as the desperate girl stared at Amara, wishing her to understand. I mean I get it, totally but just because I'm a bad person doesn't mean everyone else in this room, even this building aren't pretty awful themselves. Though I probably win the contest by far.
"Why is it that everyone who knew me from the institution seems to think I'm not safe anywhere else, or that Dominic isn't good for me? It's ridiculous," Amara laughed, "I'm pretty sure I ain't no saint either. And neither are you."
"Amara. Please." she grabbed hold of her wrist.
I stood up, "Wait a minute."
Amara pulled her wrist from the girl's grasp. I smirked, "Do you have a crush on her?" I turned to Emilie. Amara looked from me to the girl with a confused look on her face.
"I would've sworn she was into me earlier." Adel spoke from behind us, his friend with the glasses replying 'I think she was'.
"I'm bi okay?!" she squeezed her eyes shut.
Amara hopped, "Oh me too!"
"Lol what?" I never use acronyms such as LOL but only when I'm definitely in shock, which I'm rarely ever surprised so I don't hear it come out of my own mouth very often.
"Oh." Amara squeezed her mouth shut.
"This is more entertaining than I bargained, this isn't my usual style but I'll take what I can get." Adel commented from his seat. I was trying really hard to ignore the pest.
"We'll talk about that later." I said. Curiosity was getting the better of me, I wasn't angry or anything and I hoped she realised this. This could actually prove to be in my favour.
"Can you just let Dominic go so we can live our lives in peace?" Amara groaned, "Why do you keep us like this if you like me?"
"Because she wants you to herself." I casually stated leaning back into the wall.
"Sorry that can't happen. I'm predominantly straight and only coincidentally homosexual. I couldn't marry a girl if I tried, doesn't work." Amara shrugged.
"I'm bored." Adel announced.
Emilie panicked a little at his announcement, she must want him to be kept entertained. "I'll just kill him then, you won't have a choice."
"Nah, I have another guy lined up whose practically the same but just crazier."
My head snapped up and I held my hands out at if to say 'what the hell?' but didn't take it personally, I knew she was only joking. I think.
"Okay I see there's no reasoning with you. You're hung up and I have a sick feeling you escaped just for me so..." she looked around a little, "I'd like it if you'd stay the hell away from me." she turned back to face her, "Our relationship ended a little over six years ago, don't you think?"
Amara sauntered out of the room, I turned to Adel. "Look, we don't want to kill any of your guys so we'll just be on our way and leave it at that?"
"Yeah whatever."
"Cool." I said before glancing at Emilie and following my girl out the door.
She just broke up with her lesbian girlfriend for me.

At that time, a huge sword flew from the heavens, piercing the sun and causing a huge sensation on Earth. Perhaps because the scabbard of the sword was already in tatters, countless shards have broken off from it following the collision with the sun and spread across the universe. The words on the shards have an ancient feel to them, making it a trend for people to use ancient language. The appearance of Spirit Qi rapidly makes the original energy sources obsolete and has completely changed people’s lives. 8 80The Hand of Sigmar. A Warhammer Fiction.
Adebar von Bolstedt was a normal young Aristocrat once. Third son of the middling von Bolstedt line of Altdorf, capital of the prestigious Empire at the heart of the Old World, but when a quarrel with his brother escalates he decides to leave his pampered home, and soon finds himself stranded in the countryside. When confronted about his presence he claims to be led by the God-King Sigmar, but with the name of the Protector of Mankind come his responsiblities. Soon Adebar finds himself tasked with ridding a town of a mad killer, and settling some lethal family quarrels.Word from the AuthorGreetings! The Hand of Sigmar plays out in the much beloved Warhammer Fantasy setting (owned, of course, by Games Workshop). Do not fret, however, as I've made it a point to make the story digestible even to the uninitiated, and maybe even be a good introduction to the setting. This work will be shorter overall, partly because its born out of a sudden passion, partly because I thought I'd try my hand at a more comfortable story than the grim darkness of the 41st Millenium (psychotic murderer and fraudulent holyman included). Depending on how this does and my time allows more adventures may be coming. While I cannot claim the places, concepts and gods etc. mentioned within as my own, the story and all characters flowed from my own fingers.
