《Lose Myself》Chapter Thirty: Extermination

I heard the clicks go off, a large number of guns had the safety switched off. My bet was on the Russians.
"Bastard."
"Well.." he sang.
"Let them evacuate and we can deal with this, sparing the lives of the innocent." I looked him in the eye, Vince was a true psychopath. I couldn't determine what his decision would be.
"Let them go." Amara repeated.
"Anything the Princess wants, the Princess gets." Vince chuckled. The commotion was loud as the mothers and children began evacuating the hall, some still wanted to witness the fight but majority were eager to get out.
Clarissa sat dandy drinking a glass of wine as everyone else scurried off, my sister frowned over her shoulder before the doors were closed.
"I'm all for a fair fight Vitiello. Where are your weapons?" he smiled.
"I don't have any."
"Can't say the same for our agent in disguise." He brought his attention to Amara, she frowned.
The door flung open again, Claire came running in – throwing my coat at me and a rifle at Amara.
"Claire!"
"I know, I know." She rolled her eyes, sliding back through the doors and shutting them behind her. Sometimes I really appreciated her bad habit of getting into other people's business.
"Why are we just standing here?" Vince smiled. The room consisted of both Italian and Russian men, holding weapons to each other at a stance. A shot went off sending the room into chaos.
I stood staring at Vince, he stood staring at me.
"You have a nerve." I growled.
"I'm surprised you didn't realise this." He smiled.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"Waiting for this to end so I can pull Dominic out of this mess, from the grasp of your cold dead hands and nurse him back to health." She replied sweetly.
"I hate you."
"The feeling is mutual."
"But I do not kill the innocent." I stepped closer, "One wrong move and I'll be slicing your head right off." I growled before walking in the opposite direction.
She laughed loudly just so I could hear, "You wouldn't dare."
It was time to get the job done, I didn't care about the consequences. These people were causing Dominic a lot of problems and so I would rid of them. That is the only solution, they don't listen to reason. I lifted my dress up, it was going to get ruined. Luckily I already had pictures taken of me wearing it.
I slid out two knives, dropping the dress to the ground and grabbed a fork from the nearby table using it to pin back my hair. I feel like Ariel.
"I hope I don't break a nail." I muttered before walking into the middle of the fight, Dominic could handle Vince alone.
--
A lot of our men were injured, this was looking a lot like a duo act. Dominic and I would be the only one's going after Vince. He managed to grab his sister and leave when he realised the turn out wasn't looking to be in his favour. But there was still a score to settle.
I looked to Dominic who stood scratching his head, this was a massacre. A lot of bodies and blood everywhere, even the crevices in the intricate design of the walls were filled with blood. I scrunched my nose at the walls, I wanted to get a better look at the design but now it was probably going to be replaced.

"I really wanted to look at these walls." I stomped my foot. I'd taken my shoes off at some point, too much stomping on people's feet had broken the heels. I'd be buying the exact same pair next week, count on it. "I'm going to change." I informed Dominic before making my way upstairs.
I didn't want to run into anyone on the way up. I had blood on my face, arms and even in my hair. Not a healthy sight.
I closed the door behind me, sighing. I stripped taking a quick cold shower and putting on my latex suit. Dominic wasn't going after Vince on his own. I re-strapped the knives and guns to my legs but this time outside my clothing.
I'd washed all my weapons. I grabbed the coat I got Dominic for Christmas and headed downstairs.
I reached the bottom of the stairs and stopped, Claire was leaning on the wall with another coat in her hands. I frowned, "What are you doing?"
"Here's yours." She handed it to me, "Good luck." She smiled before walking towards the hallway but turned to me again, "Take care of him for me."
"You really know how to make a movie moment." I laughed.
She smiled sadly before going into the room I presumed was where everyone else sat waiting.
I wiped the smile off my face.
--
"Thank you." Dominic thanked as he shrugged the coat on. He'd pulled out a motorcycle for himself and me too.
"He's a lot to handle." I referred to Vince.
"Tell me about it." He replied, "Leo gave me the details. Just follow me."
"Got it." I nodded. I watched as he started up and went ahead. I tucked my hair in my helmet then went after him.
--
It took a long time to get here, we'd left the bikes on the main road and were walking through woodlands now. It would be a bloody abandoned warehouse I could bet on it.
We walked through, Dominic had a serious frown on his face, "Leo said this might be a trap. He didn't mention what kind but I have a good idea."
"An ambush." I said as we came to a stop before the clearing. In the middle was a warehouse, old and chipping away. Around it an area of dirt fading into grass, it was very much set up to be an ambush. Vince was often not subtle, I shouldn't expect him to try and hide the fact.
"We'll walk right into it." He hushed, "Entertain him a little."
"I'll try and make it believable." I smiled.
We walked into the open space looking around, I narrowed my eyes. I switched off the safety on my gun and held it low.
"You look stunning as usual." Vince's voice sounded from above us, I looked up. "Aren't you cute?" he chuckled.
We stopped walking, in what looked to be the best position for them. But if they came from all directions it would be easier to divide them into sections, halves even. Then Dominic and I won't get into each other's way. Vince would think his plan is genius and we'd outsmart him before it's even begun.
We moved back to back.
"You do catch on." He jumped from a nearby tree. I raised a brow. He was much more agile than I'd expected. I realised I didn't know very much about Vince's abilities. All I knew was that he was a psychopath and he was Russian.

"Vince what are you trying to achieve?" I said, trying my best to sound emotional. Since I wasn't really feeling it at the moment.
"You." He smiled, "Italian familia dies, their boss goes down and little Princess will have no one to go to. But me."
"What makes you think I would do such a thing?"
"Why are you here Amara? Why else would you be here?" he gestured around him, "You need protection, you need someone. That someone will be me."
I snorted.
"And then once I have you, my family will be most powerful."
"Listen buddy," I breathed, "Half your men just died back there, how would you be powerf-"
"I'd have you." He looked straight into my eyes. He really was a creep, it was hard to think about how I'd lived next door to him. Inviting him into my house so... regularly. "I do hope you survive this. Then afterwards we can get married!" he was as excited as Claire would be. He was so strange.
"And I hope you survive too Dominic. Then you'd be mine." Clarissa smiled. Behind her stood many armed men, aiming their guns at us. An ambush.
"You're an idiot." Dominic laughed.
"Oh?" Vince turned to look at him, Dominic who'd been watching with the most bored expression.
I took a moment to sigh as Dominic shot a bullet at his head, grazing his ear and starting the ambush in the process. Once again bullets were flying, I'd have so many people to count.
--
"How many people are in the Russian mafia?"
"One hundred and eighteen."
"So one hundred and sixteen people died?"
"I hope so."
I jabbed the small knife at the wall, I continued to jab it – forming the number one. Dominic watched over my shoulder, I sat in his lap and he had his arms wrapped around my middle. I had blood spurted on my face and in my hair. Dominic had a single cut on his face and some blood on his hand. Otherwise I'd say we were clean, aside from sweat.
I started carving the six.
"What was that," he paused, "That you hum all the time?"
"It's a song called 'Hold You'." I replied. The knife got stuck and I had to pull it out.
"I think I know it."
"I'll sing it." I started chipping at the wall again.
"Okay."
Song: 'Hold You' by Nina Nesbitt. (Mainly chorus – super cute, check it out.)
'And this distance between us has come and cut as clean as, a sharp blade.
And this distance between us has made my heart as weak as, silk that's frayed.
And I just wanna hold ya, hold ya, hold ya now
You're the one that keeps me, keeps me, on the ground
I just wanna hold ya, hold ya, hold ya now
Can we turn this knife the blunt way around?'
Dominic joined in just after the first line, he had a lovely singing voice. I really liked that song. I was surprised he actually knew it, I would tease him about it later.
116 Angels dead.
Thats what she wrote. She commemorates all the people she kills, to rid herself of guilt. I'd almost forgotten that she could feel such things, she didn't seem at all guilty before.
"Do you do that every time?" I asked. She nodded.
"Every single time."
That must be why she took so long in the shower the other time, that time we were ambushed whilst driving. It had been very public. I'd gotten worried but she was just... carving.
Into my bathroom wall.
A loud bang went off outside, we sat in the back of the warehouse with only a single window for light. I immediately regretted letting Clarissa go. You do one nice thing for the woman and she goes and pisses you off again. Vince had used the commotion to escape, though his leg was broken. If we were lucky he'd bleed to death.
I slid from under Amara, stood and held out my hand for her to take. She slid the knife into her pouch, looking at me before putting her hand in mine. We grabbed a couple rifles and switched off the safety. We gave each other a look before walking towards the doors.
We stood either side of the door, I took a peek. "It's the French." I informed Amara. She shook her head. Their agreement with Vince must've been rock solid.
"They should not base their attack on the belief that we are tired." she commented looking for herself.
"Fortunately, I believe they are that stupid." I put full barrels into my gun.
At my nod we went out into the open space, they began shooting at us from every direction. We divided them into halves and split.
--
I turned in time to see Amara shooting one man in the chest, a couple got away but our intent was not to exterminate the French. We'd only attacked those that attacked us.
"Let's go home." she sighed running a strand of hair between two fingers, her nose twitched as the remains of blood now smeared on her thumb.
"Lets." I agreed.
We strapped everything on our backs and legs, it was going to be sundown in just an hour. We walked in the same direction we came and eventually found the main road. Clarissa sat near our motorcycles.
"What the -" I began but was interrupted as Amara brought her hand to my chest, I watched her go up to Clarissa and sit down. I groaned going to lean on a nearby tree.
"You need a ride?"
"What do you care?"
"If you think you can appeal to Dominic's better nature right now. You're sadly mistaken." I informed her, "You're better off trying to appeal to me. So I wouldn't be so rude if I was in your position."
"I honestly don't understand. You're everything men should be repulsed by," she stared at the ground like it was a puzzle, "You have blood in your hair for christ's sake!"
"You must be thinking of another world." I chuckled, "In our world, mafia men? They want women who they don't have to take care of, women that can help them get ahead. If you plan on marrying and then staying at home trying to get pregnant well... not even the average man wants that."
"That is not at all what I want or am." she growled.
"I didn't think it was." I replied, "Clarissa, I believe you're a woman of beauty and grace. You're classy and you have standards. That makes you better than the average woman, you're not a slut and you know what you want. Heck! At some point you even had a career!" I laughed.
She stopped staring at the gravel and looked to me, I continued. "You don't need a man to make yourself happy, you don't even need money or power. You just need someone you love and food to share."
"Why food?"
"Because food brings people together." I smiled.
"Or maybe you just like food." she stared not taking me seriously.
"Okay okay," I sighed, "Maybe not food. Just someone you love."
She nodded, "I agree."
"Then what's the problem?" I shrugged.
"I love Dominic." she said.
"Do you though?"
She narrowed her eyes to slits, "Yes."
"Like," I clicked my tongue, "A brother?" I pushed.
"No." she frowned. Her eyes were practically closed.
"Okay." I accepted it. "But he's mine. Challenge me to a duel and see who wins." I stood. She chuckled. I put out my hand for her to take, "How about we call a truce? For now."
"Done." she nodded grabbing the hand I held out for her.
"Dominic hurry up!" I scram over my shoulder as I gave her Dominic's helmet. He frowned looking at my donation but came over anyways.
"Are we finally leaving?" he groaned swinging a leg over the bike.
"Yup." Clarissa and I said in unison. We looked at each other in surprise then giggled a little.
--
We sat on the floor of Dominic and I's bedroom, Clarissa had been asking me a lot of questions. Mostly about beauty and body maintenance but some were pretty serious ones too.
"Why do you kill people?" she asked not looking at me but continuing to file her nails, I glanced at her momentarily to check her expression but answered her question.
I could feel Dominic's eyes on me, waiting to hear my answer too. "I believe that sometimes the world needs bad people, to put even worse people in their place. Where that is... that's up to them."
