《The Guy Next Door (COMPLETED)》Chapter 6: There is Nothing Mysterious about the Mystery Girl

"You do know that you are going to have to go to the dinner party right?" Samantha asks slowly as if I am going to break.
"Oh she's not going to get out of her room unless she tells us who this Jake guy really is." Rebecca says jumping on to the bed,"He sounds yummy."
Samantha rolls her eyes as she says,"You do not describe people as yummy Rebecca, especially when your friend is in the middle of a crisis!"
"A crisis!" Rebecca exclaimed looking at Samantha incredulously," I mean, an all access pass to look into the rooms of two very hot guys is not a crisis."
The both of them kept on arguing while I drifted off.
Ok so I ran for the second time in less than twenty-four hours. It was not as much running as walking briskly away. When the bomb shell dropped at first, I was too shocked. Both of them looking at me with their big green eyes, seeing how I would react, didn't help. AT ALL. I mean twenty-four hours ago if you had told me that Jake would talk to Alec much less know him and become step brothers with him I would give you the directions to the nearest mental institution, and now by the way things are going, I'm going to need one.
So I simply gave a nod and walk away. I mean they are just two guys, how is the fact that they're being step brothers going to change my life?
Except the first knows that I have had a crush on the second for more than a decade and the rest of the world thinks that my first kiss was with the second. When it was actually with....
Oh and lets not even get started with the fact that the both of them look mouthwatering.
Oh god , I sound like Rebecca.
Okay so I get the gist. I was pretty much screwed and don't even get me started on how dumb I felt after they told me. I mean, Clara my dad's getting remarried and my mom's divorced.
I'm pretty sure I have watched enough soap operas to know what that's leading up to and yet all I can think about is a stupid bet.
Great. Just freaking great. Do I get the oscar now for acting like the dumbest person alive?
Lifetime Achievement award in deed.
Lets not even start with the dinner party thing. I'm going to have to go for dinner with both Alec and Jakes families for dinner. Why?
Well, let's just say that my parents are way too friendly, meaning my mom has the habit to want to be involved in just about everything which is why she is taking everyone out in celebration of the wedding.
Celebration? More like nightmare.
"So Matt and I had good time. I mean, he is a great kisser." Samantha was saying."What about you? Did you get your wish of kissing a total stranger?"
Rebecca pursed her lips and made a face."I wouldn't say a total stranger..." she says.
"Rebecca tell us!" I exclaim forgetting, Jake and Alec completely.
"Fine only if you tell me about this Jake guy and what exactly happened with you in the party yesterday," she says.
I nod.
"But you first." I say.
"Ok'' she says taking a deep breath, "I kissed Jeremy Hoffman."
Wait......
"WHAT!" Samantha and I say together. I look at Samantha who is wearing an expression of pure undulated horror. Which I'm pretty sure is the opposite of mine, cause I'm grinning like a maniac.

"Back up a bit." Samantha said frantically shaking her hands,"By Jeremy Hoffman you mean I'm the jackass who has slept with 90% of the girls in my school Jeremy Hoffman?"
"Yup," she said nodding,"That's the one"
"You're joking!" Samantha said, and then looking at me raised her eyebrows and asked me,"What are you grinning at?"
"What exactly happened in the party?" I asked ignoring Samantha.
"Ok," Rebecca says with a large smile on her face,"So I'm just like dancing, looking around for who looks hot. Suddenly I crash into Jeremy who is looking for some girl who apparently ran away."
I freeze. Please tell me it's not who I think it is.
"Jeremy must be that bad a kisser, huh?" Samantha says smugly.
Rebecca shakes her head and says, "Nope trust me I know."
Samantha makes a gagged face as Rebecca continues.
"It was something involving Alec and this girl and Natalie was throwing this big fat tantrum on what is up with Alec and all," she said,"Apparently Alec kissed someone and Natalie bloody well didn't like it."
She briefly glanced at me but I was to frozen in shock.
"Apparently some new guy had come and dared him to go and kiss her." Rebecca continued,"Oh my god is that Jake? With black hair, green eyes and a smile to die for?"
I nod.
Wait.
Hold it.
What?
Jake dared Alec to kiss me? I'm going to strangle him. You watch. At the dinner party, which I will do my best to dodge and obviously fail miserably, knowing that my parents wouldn't let me miss it for the world. After all it would be most 'unmannerly'.
Whats going to be unmannerly is when I kill Jake in front everyone.
"How do you know all of this?" Samantha asked her.
"Oh Jeremy told me." Rebecca said," The boy spilled everything out after two cups of that spiked punch. Apparently there is a lot of hype about the mystery girl."
Ok, If it was possible for your jaw to touch the ground, mine would. But I quickly closed it before either of them could see me. If they only knew that there was nothing mysterious about the mystery girl.
"Ok so then he invited me to the Truth and Dare game." Rebecca says almost jumping up and down with joy,"It is as legendary as we have heard, although they were like all drunk and the dares were really really stupid. But then Melanie was throwing herself at Jeremy who was so creeped out, and then there was lot of drama between Jake, Alec and Natalie."
"Emphasis on a lot of drama," I say carefully.
"They almost had a big fight." Rebecca said happily ,"They kept on talking about a girl and Alec seemed pretty confused as to how he knew her and in the end Natalie's parents came home and we were all forced to leave."
"Wow." Samantha said,"Natalie did not have a good day now, did she. First her boyfriend almost starts a brawl over some other girl who he kissed and then her parents came home and probably grounded her."
"OK so as we are leaving." Rebecca paused,"and I kissed him."
I drifted off as Rebecca went to describe her kiss. Quite graphically I might add.
What the hell exactly happened last night? What was up with Alec and why was he lying to me about Jeremy?
I mean here Jeremy was being the best gentlemen for a guy who was as drunk as a doorknob and clearly was into Rebecca. I mean why would he or kiss her and then...Oh god I really needed to stop listening to her description.
He lied to me that he was Jeremy and then kissed me. God I really needed to know what happened in the party and then there was Jake who asked him to do it.
Why is this so bloody messed up?
"Rebecca you do know that he is Jeremy Hoffman right?" I said carefully,"The guy who breaks hearts left, right and centre."
It was true. You could see more than a few girls scrape their hearts of the floor after Jeremy used them and stomped all over them. He was worse than Natalie which made them the most perfect couple.
After all when me and Natalie were still best friends, she told me that she always had a crush on Jeremy. But they never dated. Unless you call both of them cheating on their boyfriend/girlfriend with each other.
Yup.
The Gossip Review had even caught that. It was actually the main reason Natalie and Nick broke up . Natalie and Jeremy always had an off and on relationship that was limited to their bedrooms and well, a certain someone had caught onto it and the next Monday in big bold letters their secret came out.
"Oh please it was just a kiss." Rebecca says.
But she leaves the fact that it was her first kiss. Yeah shocking right! Before Rebecca moved here she was a geeky girl who had well let's just say worse social life than me. She was bubbly and everything but she did not have any friends. She has never really talked about it but yet.... But the point is that you never forget a first kiss, trust me I have tried but you don't.
After all it is a really big deal and when someone steals it, like kissing you unexpectedly and you kiss back and you never forget it.
No matter what you do.
Thank you Jake.
"OK" Rebecca says,"Your turn, what was so important that you called us ASAP here?"
"Yeah and who exactly is Jake?" Samantha says,"And why were you hyperventilating on the phone."
I took a deep breath. This is going to be a long story
______________________________________
It takes me 3 hours to tell them everything. From my history with Jake that was recounting almost every painful moment in camp with him to the diary reading to the kiss. I downplay it a little not really wanting to say every single thing that happened.I also told him about his family problems and how his parents had bought the house next door. I continued on about the party and what happened during the truth and dare game to what happened in the morning.
This was their reaction at the end of it.
"This is soo cute." Rebecca said gushing.
Samantha and I both look at her as if she has dropped from another planet.
"What?" She said noticing our gaze on her,"Go Team Jake."
We keep on giving her the look until Samantha finally said,"Well, I'm Team Alec."
I in turn give her a look.
"What happened to he's a selfish obnoxious man slut." I say.
It was true. These were many of the insults that Samantha used to describe Alec and everyone else he was friends with. Which is why it was suprising when she piped up in support of him.
"He is all of those things." Samantha shrugged,"But Jake beats him in being a manwhore."
"And how do you know that?" Rebecca asked.
"I have a feeling." Samantha replies.
We both give her a look.
"What?" she said,"It's not my fault that you have such bad taste in guys."
"Are you kidding me!" Rebecca looks at her incredulously,"Have you seen the both of them? One looks like an Abercrombie model while the other one looks like a Greek God."
Samantha rolls her eyes.
"Stop exaggerating." I say,"Jake is no way an Abercrombie model."
"Nope." she said,"He's the greek god."

"Please tell me you guys are not making me wear this." I say looking at the mirror.
"You look amazing!" Rebecca said clapping her hands.
I couldn't actually deny that. I didn't look amazing, but I certainly did look good. We had been talking for hours when my mom finally came in and said that it was time to go. She laid down a very cute dress which I had half a mind to throw because I couldn't wear that. But of course Rebecca had forced me to try it on and since it ended up looking good on me I decided to wear it.
"Red is a good colour on you." Samantha said applying finishing touches to my make up.
Yup, You guessed the daughter of one of the most famous fashion designers in the world was handicapped when it came to fashion. Which is why the two of them were helping me pit make up. Basically they did everything while I just sat there looking pretty.
Yeah Right.
Finally when they were done they accompanied me down the stairs. Since I was wearing heels (Yes, Rebecca had managed to bully me into wearing heels again) falling down the stairs was an ever present danger. I even approved an ok look from my mother which means that Rebecca and Samantha must have really worked their magic.
"So.." I say after Rebecca and Samantha leave,"Where are we going."
"To Armaks of course." My mother replies.
Armaks is the best among the few resturaunts in town. It has a Lobster Mariana to die for and after eating takeaway for months due to the fact that I couldnt cook and my grandmother was probably worse, it seemed like an oasis in a desert.
Okay I wouldnt go that far but you get the gist.
"OK," I said getting excited just thinking about the lobster.
"Good evening, Mrs Wilson." I hear someone voice saying. I turn around to see Alec standing and looking at me with a expression I cant really read. But it has to be somewhere in between suprise and awe because lets face it me in a dress happens once in a rainbow coloured moon.
He is so definitely the greek god. I mean, come on. Alec was hot, smart and was not a jackass. He clearly did not lack in the personality department like Jake did and plus the fact that I was as red as my dress clearly said that I was Team Alec.
Until I saw who was standing next to him.
"Natalie what a present suprise." I say choking the words out.
"Same.", she says with equal disgust. At least she isn't pretending anymore.
"Clara can I speak to you?" Alec asks."Its ur-"
He's interrupted by Jake,"Good evening Mrs Wilson, Mr Wilson," he says to my father who just entered the living room.
I look at him trying not to make it obvious that I'm giving him a once over which I'm pretty sure I failed miserably in. Okay maybe Rebecca wasn't to far off about Jake.
Oh who am I kidding Rebecca was right.
Jake was unbelievebly good looking. It wasnt only his tall stature that stood above Alec by a few inches but his eyes, deep green and utterly and totally mesmerizing but that didn't change that he was a selfish, obnoxious freak.
"Good we are all here." My father said,"I'll just go round up the car, Ben and Jeanine must be waiting for us."
"Mrs Wilson." Natalie says in a high pitched voice as she pointedly glared at me,"Can you please take a picture of me and Alec."
My mother smiled. She still thinks I'm very good friends with Natalie and I go to her house for sleep over and we braid eachothers hair.
It's more like rip eachothers hair out.
"How about pictures for both the happy couples." My mom said, still smiling.
Wait.
Both the happy couples?
Jake had only been here for one day how in the name of God would I have started dating him.The very idea scares me in fact.
Both of us are just going to deny it when Natalie starts laughing.
OK, thats just mean.
"Jake and Clara..." she says as she continues to laugh.
"And whats so wrong with that possibility?", I say trying to hide the fact that I was pissed.
"It's just that both of you are such opposites," she says trying to control her laughter," I mean Jake's so hot and you're...."
She lets her voice trail but we all know what she was going to say. That I wasn't pretty enough to date Jake.
It takes all my willpower not to slap her on her face. I'm thinking of something to say back to her when Jake's voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Well, in that case, Natalie," he said coldly, "You should know that me and Clara are going out."
Wait..
WHAT?
