《Just Another Bad Boy》49. Couldnt get better than this

"Hello beautiful people!" The guy on the mic shouted.

We just arrived at the open mic night and found a seat when the band got back on the mic. The singer was a tan guy with brown curly hair that just reached his shoulders. The guitar player was a tall black guy with short black hair. The drummer was a girl that had dark brown hair that was braided back out of her face.

"So this is our last song before Vince comes up here and starts calling from his list. If you haven't already go see him in the back and show us what you got." The guy at the mic pointed to the guy who was sitting at the table in the back.

I was guessing that was Vince, he looked about our age just like all the band members on stage. I wondered if they ran this night.

"As I said before this is our last song for night and it's a special one. It goes out to my amazing girlfriend, give it up for Nora." He pointed to the girl on the drums and she give gave him a glare.

The guitar player started to play the beginning chords of the song.

"I guess that's my cue." The lead singer stated with a chuckle.

The drummer quickly followed suit and the song started.

I didn't recognize it but it was good. The lead singer sang with ease and his voice was captivating. They weren't good, they were amazing. They all looked so comfortable up there like performing was natural to them.

The song was a love song, it was about wanting to settle down and start a family. The song had a rock edge that I couldn't tell if it was something fabricated by the band or was actually part of the real song.

The song ended in a guitar riff and once he finished the crowd erupted in cheers. I could tell they were a local favorite. The place was packed with people and everyone seemed captivated by their performance.

"You going to sing?" Caitlynn asked.

"Now's my chance right?" I shrunk in my seat.

"Come on I'll go with you to sign up." She grabbed my hand and led me to Vince.

"Ok I figured out a perfect revenge for the boys." Cait told me once we were far enough away from our table.

"What?" I questioned.

"Sign them up for a duet." She exploded into a fit of giggles.

She was evil, that sort of thinking and ability to go through with her plans was something that scared me but also I admired that part of her.

"Let's do it." I nodded.

I'd have fun for a night.

"I still think you should go up there." She urged me.

"And sing what? I don't have anything prepared or ready." I sighed.

"What about a Beatles song?" She raised her eyebrows at me.

I wanted to immediately turn it down but I did know all of them, word for word. I had sung them a million times. It was something I used to do with my dad. He was a big Beatles fan and we would listen to their music all the time when I was younger and I'd be laid out on the couch singing along as he listened.

"Come on you are going to knock it out of the park." She nudged me.

"I don't know, I've never sang in front of a crowd before." I could feel the nerves setting in.

"You know the first time is always hard but it gets easier." I turned around to see the lead singer from the band standing behind me.

I just smiled not really knowing what to say.

"I'm Tristan." He holds out a hand for me to shake and I take it.

"Ella."

"So what you thinking about singing?" He questioned.

My mind quickly chose a song, I barely even thought about it before the answer came tumbling out of my mouth.

"Yesterday by The Beatles."

"That's a good song." He grinned.

"Thank you." I smiled.

"Kash!" He turned and yelled.

The guitarist snapped his head in our direction and started his way towards us.

"What's up?" He greeted.

"This is Ella and.." he trailed off when he looked over at Caitlynn.

"Caitlynn." She finished for him.

"Well Ella is singing Yesterday by the Beatles and I thought you might want to hit the acoustic and join her up there."

"Is this your way of getting out of doing a Beatles song with the band?" Kash chuckled.

"So you in?" Tristian ignored him.

"Yeah if it's ok with you." He turned to me.

I nodded. I would be nice to have someone else up there with me even if it is a complete stranger.

"Do we need to put a song next to the sign up?" Cait asked.

"Yeah why?" Tristian asked.

Her smile grew twice its size.

"What song are you going to give the boys?" I questioned.

She didn't answer, she just walked over to the table and signed them up. I guess I was in for a surprise.

"Next up we have a duet! Trevor and Zach singing No Scrubs by TLC!" The guys announced.

Everyone clapped and I turned to see the shocked look on the boys faces.

"Have fun!" Caitlynn chuckled and pushed them out of their seats.

The boys walked up in stage with annoyed looks. I laughed and blew Trevor a kiss. He just shook his head.

Soon enough the song started and the boys were left to sing.

They fumbled over the words and when it was obvious they were crashing Caitlynn jumped up on her chair and started to dance and scream the lyrics. Soon everyone was singing as the boys struggled up on stage.

I just laughed and sang the lyrics smiling at the boy on stage. That's what he gets for throwing me in the ocean.

"Well that was... interesting." The guy laughed once the boys finished and got off stage. "Give them a round of applause for the effort."

Everyone clapped and I wrapped my arms around Trevor as he took the seat next to me.

"I hate you." He smiled.

"Love you too." I kissed his cheek.

"Next we have Ella Winters singing Yesterday by The Beatles." He said.

I detached from Trevor and got up. I caught Kash's gaze and he gave me a thumbs up as he too made his way to the stage, guitar in hand.

When I got on stage the nerves took over and I was beginning to think I wouldn't be able to do this. Maybe I'd crash and burn even worse than the boys.

"Hey, you got this." Kash said softly behind me.

I just nodded. I could do this.

"Tell me when you're ready." He set himself up with his guitar.

I took a deep breath, I could do this.

"I'm ready." I said to him.

The sound of strumming let me know he was starting.

"Yesterday,

All my troubles seem so far away,

Now it looks as thought they're here to stay,

Oh I believe in yesterday,

Suddenly,

I'm not half the man I used to be,

There's a shadow hanging over me,

Oh Yesterday came suddenly,

Why she had to go, I don't know,

She wouldn't say,

I said something wrong,

Now I long for yesterday."

I tried not to focus on the crowd as the lyrics poured out of me.

"Yesterday,

Love was such an easy game to play,

Now I need a place to hide away,

Oh I believe in yesterday,

Why she had to go, I don't know,

She wouldn't say,

I said something wrong,

Now I long for yesterday,

Yesterday,

Love was such an easy game to play,

Now I need a place to hide away

Oh I believe in yesterday,"

I finished the song and once it ended I let my eyes close. I didn't know if I could handle the faces of the crowd. I heard an eruption of cheers and I let myself look.

Trevor was standing up out of his chair, a huge grin on his face.

"Damn Girl, you got skill." Kash chuckled behind me.

"Thank you." I grinned.

"You should get down there, your fans are waiting." He urged.

I listened and walked off the stage making a beeline to Trevor.

He pulled me into a hug.

"You did amazing Ella." He said softly to me.

"I would never have done this if it wasn't for you, thank you." I leaned up and pressed my lips against his.

This weekend would be something I never forget. Spending time with my best friends, the boy I loved and performing for the first time. It couldn't get any better than this
