Good had been eating dinner when Techno called him
"Hello P"
"Hey Ai Good, are you busy? can you do me a favor?"
"of course P, what do you want me to do?" Good said in a slow, curious tone.
"Can you go to my house and babysit Ai Nic?" No said in a little impatient voice that Good was used to hear since he always spoke so slowly.
"Yes P, I can babysit Nic. But why me?" Good had no idea why Techno called him for that important job or that was what he thought.
"I called some more people that I know are trustworthy and responsible but none of the others answered. You are the first person that has answered my call" No said and Good could clearly hear that he was in a hurry and that he needed a babysitter ASAP.
"OK P I'll take care of Nic but why are you in such a hurry?" Good knew he was being a little rude but he was just so curious.
"Something just came up. You don't have to do anything special for Ai Nic just make sure he stays in the house and that he doesn't invite anybody else over. You can just watch something on TV, you can also use my computer. Don't enter the room at the end of the corridor upstairs. You can enter all the other rooms but the garage doesn't smell good cause it is newly painted so I don't recommend that room. You can use the kitchen and you can eat whatever you find there just make sure Nic doesn't do something he's not supposed to do. If that's all then bye" Techno said and hung up. He said all of that so quickly that Good had a hard time taking it all in. It took Good whole ten seconds to realise his senior had already hung up.

_____________
Good pulled up to Nic and No's house about an hour later.
He was happy to have an excuse to meet his beloved junior but somehow he couldn't help but feel nervous and scared of how Nic would react to him showing up at his door at eight thirty in the evening.
Good walked slowly to the door and raised his hand to knock. Just then he realised he had this weird awkward look on his face so he stopped to think about something happy. His attempt became a success so when he finally knocked he had a bright smile painted over his handsome face.
Nic came to the door right away.
"What?" Nic said when he opened the door.
"Hey Ai Nic" Good said and could claerly see what the next question would be.
"What are you doing here?" Nic said obviously a little shocked.
"P Techno called for me"
"Why?"
"To babysit you of course" Good saw Nic's shock change to a frown.
"Babysit me?" He stopped and to Good it seemed like Nic was thinking about something but then he smiled at him and showed him inside with his hands.
"Please come in P"
Good walked inside. He had no idea why Nic was suddenly acting all nice towards him.
"Can I get you something P? " Nic asked in a sweet voice that Good had never heard from anybody but his mom and Fleur.
Maybe he has forgiven me for the kiss and whatever else I did. Good thought to himself and suddenly his heart was all warm and happy.

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.

The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)
