《Princess of Peace [BNHA]》Chapter Fifty One

As I left my therapist's office, I pulled my phone out of my pocket to take it off of silent and felt my heart drop as I realized I had several missed calls and messages from Tech, Aizawa and a few other faculty members from UA. Was Amy alright? She had to be, she was completing her work study with Tech, there wasn't any chance for her to be hurt by a villain there. Unless Shigaraki found out about their connection and made a move. Why would he do that? My mind began to run away with me as horrifying thoughts crept in. As I was about to open the several missed messages, my phone began to ring, it was an incoming call from Aizawa.
"Aizawa, what is it? Is Amy alright?" I asked worriedly as I answered the phone, still in the doorway of my therapist's office.
"She's conscious now and in Recovery Girl's care-." I didn't hear anything else. I wasn't sure if I hung up my phone, dropped it or what happened, I just started running. It was as if I lost consciousness, I had no idea what was going on around me, I just needed to get to Amy as fast as possible. My brain just kept cycling through worst case scenarios and horrific states I'd find her in when I arrived.
I found myself at UA with no idea as to how I'd gotten here or how long it had taken me and raced toward Recovery Girl's office. I glanced down, my phone was still clutched tightly in my hand, luckily it wasn't still locked in a call with Aizawa though I wasn't certain which of us had hung up.
As I burst into Recovery Girl's Office, I found the small room overflowing with people. Amy was sitting upright on one of the beds looking ghostly pale. There was a faint bluish hue to her lips and she appeared to be shivering slightly. Todoroki was sitting next to her on her right with his left arm wrapped around her shoulders. Bakugo was sitting on her opposite side and it looked as if he'd placed his jacket over her. Midoriya was sitting on the floor with Shinso. Monoma was sitting behind Amy back to back keeping her upright while looking as if this were the last place he wanted to be. I noticed two third years leaning against the wall by the door, a boy with dark hair and pointed ears and a blonde who Nighteye had approached me about once by the name of Mirio Togata. Aizawa, Present Mic and Midnight were sitting in chairs to the side of Recovery Girl's desk. Recovery Girl stepped over Midoriya to check Amy's vitals and everyone turned as I flew through the door in a panic.
"What happened?" I asked shakily, Amy was far too pale for my liking, as if she'd lost a lot of blood.
"If you hadn't hung up on me, I could have informed you." Aizawa pointed with a frown.
"I'm okay." Amy squeaked.
"Not." Bakugo, Shinso and Monoma chorused before glaring at one another.
"She is okay." Recovery Girl reassured everyone, "she just has a case of the chills, a side effect of overusing her quirk, I'm sure. She just needs a good night's rest and maybe a few cups of hot cocoa."

"Hot cocoa sounds nice." Amy smiled trying to keep everyone from worrying.
"I bet Sato can make some." Midoriya offered with a smile as he jumped to his feet and made a move to offer Amy a hand but was roughly shoved out of the way as Bakugo kicked him aside.
"Ah! Izuku, are you alright?" Amy squeaked before letting out a soft gasp of surprise as Todoroki and Bakugo stood simultaneously supporting her between them.
As they stood, Bakugo's coat slipped away from her and I felt my blood run cold as I saw the state of her costume. The entire front of the baby blue material was stained with blood. I felt all the color drain from my face. "What happened?!" I blanched.
"Nosebleed." Amy admitted with a blush, "sorry, Dad. You made sure I was somewhere safe and I still managed to make you worry."
At this, I noticed Aizawa throw a dark look in my direction. "No, it's alright Princess." I felt a little sick with guilt as I realized I'd put too much pressure on her. "Why don't you all go on ahead and work on that hot cocoa, I'll catch up in a bit." I offered her a small reassuring smile.
Once Amy and all of her knights left the room, I looked to Aizawa, "what happened?"
"Tech said she used her quirk...through the surveillance feed." Aizawa said softly.
"Catching a kid who was more than 50 miles away." Midnight added.
I thought of the very first villain training session I'd had with Class 1A when Amy had caught young Midoriya from falling from the next building over. It had taken quite a toll on her and that had just been one building away. 50 miles was a considerable distance. Her quirk was even more powerful than I'd imagined.
I glanced down at Recovery Girl, "she's alright?"
Recovery Girl nodded, "she's alright, she just overused her quirk, it put a lot of strain on her. All she needs is some rest. A good night's sleep should be enough." She reassured me.
"The chills?" I asked worriedly.
"Just a side effect from straining herself. A nice warm beverage and maybe an extra blanket on her bed should sort that out." She offered me a smile.
"Thanks, Recovery Girl." I let out a sigh releasing all the tension, worry and panic I'd had bundled up since I'd talked to Aizawa earlier. I dropped into the remaining empty chair, next to Midnight and clasped my head in my hands. If she was going to be a hero, I'd have to prepare myself to get more calls like this.
"You sent her to Tech because you thought she'd be kept from action." Aizawa said in an accusing tone.
"...I did..."
"Can you blame him?" Present Mic piped up.
Midnight looked thoughtful, "as much as I love the precious angel and want her to be safe, I'm with Aizawa on this. You shouldn't have interfered, you should have let her make her own decision."
Aizawa seemed a bit surprised that Midnight was agreeing with him but continued, "you really need to ask yourself if you're okay with her being a hero, because right now it looks like you can't handle it."

I sighed, "I know. I'm working on it." My therapist and I had many talks about ways for me to try and let Amy grow on her own without me being what my therapist referred to as a 'helicopter parent'. It was difficult. The time Amy and I shared together felt so brief, I'd missed out on so much in her life. "I do want her to follow her dreams, she'll be an amazing hero, she has the potential to be the very best, her quirk is so strong, but I know the dangers she'll face and I'm helpless now, I can't protect her." I admitted morosely.
"She's strong enough to protect herself." Aizawa spoke up softly.
"And if she's ever in trouble you saw all those knights in shining armor hopelessly enamored with her, she has plenty of people she can rely on if she ever needs help." Midnight added.
"Besides she's so darn cute, half the villains she runs across will probably just turn themselves in without a fight the moment she says 'please'." Present Mic piled on.
Aizawa shook his head at this. Midnight nodded along with Present Mic. Recovery Girl chuckled softly and I thought I heard her mutter 'he has a point'. One could only hope things would go that easily for her, but with her connection to Shigaraki, I was worried that wouldn't be the case. There were plenty of villains like him that wouldn't be charmed by her.
"I'm going to go check on Amy." I said softly and got to my feet.
The others took their leave as I headed toward Class 1A's dorm building. I walked slowly and tried to think of what Ayumi would do if she were here. Ayumi trusted Amy but she'd also been scared of Amy's quirk. I tried to conjure up a memory of her. In my mind's eye I saw Ayumi standing before me, in her hero costume with her hands on her hips, her dark eyes narrowed into a scowl as she chewed my head off about something or other. I smiled softly to myself, trying to imagine her that way as she would be now if she were still alive.
Toshinori! I told you she's a tough kid, she can handle things, even grown up things. Just let her be herself.
I thought of the letter Ayumi had written to me in the hospital as she was dying. I'd since had it laminated, to keep it preserved. I wasn't sure if that was unhealthy but I couldn't bear the thought of throwing it away. She had told me that Amy was tough but I focused too much on the 'keep her safe' bit. Perhaps Ayumi wouldn't be as overbearing as my overactive imagination presumed her to be. I exhaled deeply trying to find my resolve.
As I stepped through the door of Class 1A's dorm, I paused as I spotted the common area overflowing with students, all of Class 1A and 1B were here as well as the two third years from before. Amy appeared to be freshly showered and was wearing a pair of cute pajamas and bundled up in multiple blankets. Todoroki was still at her side with his left arm wrapped around her shoulders offering her even more warmth. The third year with the dark hair was sitting on her opposite side holding two steaming mugs of hot cocoa in his hands. Shinso was in the middle of putting some adorable movie into the blu-ray player. Midoriya and Kirishima were struggling to turn the thermostat up. Yaoyorozu was using her quirk to produce a small space heater. Monoma and Bakugo were about to slaughter each other in the kitchen as they appeared to be in the process of making a soup to help warm Amy up. The rest of her classmates were spread out across the common area settling in for a relaxing movie night together.
It warmed my heart to see how many people cared for her. She glanced up from within her cocoon of blankets and struggled to wave over at me. The chipmunk that had begun to act as her knight poked his head out of the cocoon of blankets just beneath her chin and scrambled to make sure they were tucked around her and she was as covered as possible.
"All Might!" Midoriya spotted me and alerted everyone else to my presence.
Bakugo and Monoma stopped waving knives threateningly at each other and began tensely cooperating and cooking together. Todoroki tensed but kept his arm around Amy as it seemed like he was using his quirk to keep her warm and it appeared to be helping a lot. Why did he seem so wary around me?
I cleared my throat, "um, sorry everyone could I have a moment alone with Amy?"
Everyone got up and filed over to the dining area save for Todoroki who threw a worried look at Amy. She offered him a bright smile, "I'm okay now, thanks Shoto." His cheeks reddened a little and he nodded and joined the others without a word.
I took a seat next to her and was happy to see a little color had returned to her cheeks and she wasn't shivering like she had been before. "Are you alright?"
She nodded, "sorry for worrying you." Her voice was laced with guilt.
"You don't have to apologize. I'll always worry about you, but I also know you are much more capable than I give you credit for and that I was holding you back for my own selfish reasons. I'll talk to Principal Nezu and we can let you complete your Work Study with someone else-." I began but Amy cut me off.
"It's okay. I like Tech and I'm happy I was there today. If I hadn't been, the kid I saved could have died. I'd like to work with Tech a little longer." She spoke up softly, "I could practice more and be a safety net."
I grimaced at the thought of her doing this to herself again but I knew I had to accept it. As Ayumi said, she was tough. She could handle it. "If that's what you want, Princess."
"I'll get stronger so you won't get any more scary phone calls." She smiled.
I kissed the top of her head, "I appreciate it."
"Want to stay for movie night?" She asked.
"What's on the schedule for movie night?"
"Fantastic Floof and Friends." She giggled.
I could hear Bakugo groaning in annoyance in the kitchen and held back a laugh, "I'd be delighted to stay for movie night."

8 108Grim Beginnings
For most, ghosts and monsters were fantasy. For Tessa Byrne-Reyes, they were a constant in her daily life as a reaper. The legendary gods and creatures of mythology were, to her, historical figures. From a young age, she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, possessing what she saw as a curse but what her family considered a gift. It was her birthright, to use her abilities to guide the deceased to the afterlife of an eternity in peace or in torment. Her classmates viewed her as "the fainting girl" who would pass out in the middle of a lesson with inexplicable injuries. She experienced each death in the town of Belmont Falls, from the mundane to the gruesome. A gunshot wound in the gut, broken ribs, her heart ceasing to beat for several minutes. No one understood what caused these incidents but over the years, she gained a reputation for being abnormal. While Tessa is the freak of Belmont Falls, Fin Belmont, the charming rebel and son of the richest man in town, is her polar opposite. Knowing each other for years but never saying more than a dozen words between them, one night changes everything, thrusting them into each other's unfamiliar and daunting worlds. Together, with the help of her best friend/his ex-girlfriend Elena, they begin to unravel secrets about their town and their pasts, learning that some secrets are better left buried and grudges can be held for centuries.
8 173Broken Pieces II
