《Princess of Peace [BNHA]》Chapter Forty Nine

I went to check on Amy on the weekend after her first week back after getting her provisional license. As I walked across campus, in the directions of the dorms, I paused as I saw her standing in the middle of one of the practice fields with Bakugo. I watched in terror as Bakugo swung a first at her. She reacted quickly, bringing her arm up and knocking Bakugo's arm to the side, throwing off his trajectory.
He recovered quickly with another swing but she deflected it with ease. A proud smile spread across his lips, distracting him long enough he didn't see her retaliatory attack coming. Her small fist collided into his face while he was momentarily distracted.
"AH!" Amy squealed as she realized she'd hit him, "Katsuki! I'm so sorry!"
"What did I tell you?!" He growled and caught her in a headlock.
"EEP!" Amy panicked as he flicked her atop the head. "N-not to apologize?"
"So quit." Bakugo grumbled and released her from his hold with a smirk.
"Oh no! It's bruising!" Amy cried as she leaned in closer to examine his face, "we need to get ice!"
Bakugo shook his head and let out a sigh, "you're really too much." He grabbed her by the waist and effortlessly tossed her over his shoulder. "Stop freaking out, it's fine."
I spotted the chipmunk that had recently begun to accompany Amy wherever she went scramble from it's nearby perch to race after them. It hurriedly climbed Bakugo's body to reach Amy.
Amy suddenly let out a squeal as the chipmunk scampered up her leg, "what was that?!"
"The stupid tree rat." Bakugo huffed.
Amy spotted the chipmunk and caught him in her hands, "he's a chipmunk!"
"Same difference." Bakugo shrugged. He paused as he spotted me and his eyes grew wide as he realized once again he was manhandling my daughter in front of me. Without a word he gently set her on her feet and spun her around to face me.
Amy spotted me and her face lit up, "Dad!" She ran toward me and threw her arms around me. The chipmunk wriggled out of her hold and hurriedly scrambled atop her head.
I caught her in a hug, "good evening Princess."
"What are you doing here?" She asked me with a smile as I squeezed her tight. The chipmunk atop her head appeared to be trying to separate us as it attempted to shove me from atop her head.
"I thought we could get some ice cream and maybe take a trip to the bookstore." I smiled.
"Really?" Her bright baby blue eyes lit up with excitement.
I nodded.
Amy hesitated and threw a look back at Bakugo as she took a step away from me. "I should make sure Katsuki gets back to the dorm and gets some ice."
Bakugo sighed and shook his head before snapping, "I told you it's fine!"
"But-." Amy began to protest but Bakugo stormed toward her and aggressively ruffled her hair, nearly knocking her over in the process. As he did, the chipmunk punched and kicked his hand. I held back a laugh the whole thing was ridiculous and adorable.
"Get outta my sight Crybaby." He grumbled before walking away in the direction of the dorm on his own.
Amy watched him go looking guilt ridden and worried. She was undoubtedly beating herself up over it and probably truly believed she'd injured Bakugo, though he looked completely fine. There was hardly any discoloration, it was just a little red and would probably be gone in an hour.

"I'm sure he's alright." I reassured her.
"Y-yeah." Amy reluctantly looked away from him. She looked up at me with teary eyes, "it's okay if you have to give me detention." She sniffled.
"Wh-what?!" I choked, "for what reason?!"
"F-fighting."
I held back a laugh. "You two were training. That's hardly a reason to give someone detention."
"I shouldn't have hit him though." She grumbled, "I was expecting him to block it...he's so good at fighting....why didn't he block it?"
I chuckled. "He was having a teaching moment." Young Bakugo was indeed a good fighter and could have very easily deflected her swing but he'd taken a moment to be proud of his pupil for her amazing improvement.
Amy looked at me curiously and pondered my words.
I laughed quietly to myself and placed an arm around her delicate shoulders, steering her away as she contemplated what I had said. Her chipmunk companion looked up at me then back to my arm around Amy and then back up at me and tapped his foot atop her head.
"This must be your new protector." I smiled.
"H-huh?" Amy snapped out of her distracted thinking and glanced up at me. She realized I was looking at the chipmunk perched atop her head and lightly caught him in her hand. "Yeah, this is Ritsu, he wanted to protect me because I saved him. He's a lot like a knight." She beamed as she held her hand open in front of her.
Ritsu bowed at the introduction and took on an odd knightly pose.
I chuckled and extended a finger to the small furry creature in greeting, "well thank you for looking after my precious Princess, Sir Ritsu."
Amy giggled at this.
Ritsu accepted my finger, gave me a nod and then scrambled to sit atop Amy's shoulder.
I looked down at Amy as we continued walking to the awaiting car, "how are the nightmares?" I asked nervously.
Amy unconsciously reached up and pet Ritsu, "I haven't had any since Ritsu's been with me."
Ritsu stood up straighter, puffing out his tiny chest.
I smiled, perhaps I should have gotten her a therapy animal earlier on.
"Mr. Aizawa and Uncle Mic are coming with us?" She asked me curiously as she spotted the awaiting car. Aizawa was in the driver's seat and Present Mic in the passenger seat.
"Just giving us a lift." I noted as I opened the door to the backseat for her.
"Princess Might!" Present Mic cheered as soon as she got into the car causing her to giggle.
"Good evening Uncle Mic, Mr. Aizawa." She smiled at them both.
I took a seat beside her and shut the door behind me and we were off.
"How did training go?" Mr. Aizawa asked her curiously. It looked like he'd thrown me a wary look through the rearview mirror. Perhaps he was worried about how I'd react if Bakugo had hit Amy during their training in my presence.
Amy immediately sank into herself, "awful."
"Huh?!" Mic panicked, "did Bakugo hurt you?!"
"N-no." Amy sniffled, "I hurt him."
I choked on a laugh.
"What?!" Aizawa and Mic asked in awe.
"You didn't really hurt him." I attempted to calm her down.
"I punched him in the face." Amy groaned and buried her face in her hands feeling sick with guilt.
Aizawa chuckled softly.
"I'd pay money to see that." Mic muttered under his breath so only Aizawa and I could hear.

"It was rather amusing." I noted quietly sending Mic into hysterical laughter.
"Why are you all laughing?" Amy asked with teary eyes.
"Something else." Mic wheezed and elbowed Aizawa in the side once Ritsu distracted Amy giving her hugs and trying to calm her down, "so we're totally going through the security footage of that training field later, right?" He asked quietly.
Aizawa rolled his eyes, but didn't say no.
I shook my head at my colleagues and looked back at Amy who'd calmed down thanks to Ritsu. Her bright baby blues turned to me, "can I bring back some ice cream for Katsuki?"
"If it will make you feel better." I smiled.
She nodded.
"Then we absolutely can." I gently pat the top of her head.
The car came to a stop outside of a massive bookstore. Amy's eyes lit up, "it's the biggest bookstore ever." She said in awe.
I chuckled, "thanks for the ride, Aizawa." I opened the door and stepped out before turning to offer a hand to Amy.
"You're not coming with us?" Amy looked at Aizawa and Mic curiously.
"Maybe next time." Aizawa, not immune to her charms, smiled at her.
"Okay. Thanks Mr. Aizawa and Uncle Mic." She waved farewell to them before taking my hand. The car pulled away and we headed to the bookstore.
One of the shop clerks looked our way as soon as we entered the store. His eyes grew wide as he spotted us. "Whoa! It's All Might and Princess Might!" He squealed.
I was still getting used to people recognizing me in my weakened form, though I guess now it was about the only form I had since I couldn't hold the other for longer than a few short seconds at a time. Amy jumped, startled by the recognition before recovering and offering the young man a smile and a cute wave that instantly felled him.
"Oh no, you think he's okay?" Amy asked me obliviously as the young man clutched at his chest and dramatically fell over.
"He's fine." I sighed and steered her away to her favorite section.
A few people looked our way, some waved over at us and whispered to one another but they all kept their distance. As much as I loved fans, I'd really been looking forward to spending the evening with my daughter and was grateful for everyone who was keeping a polite distance.
As Amy began picking up books and reading the covers, I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. I knew we were being watched by literally every other patron but I turned to look as it felt as if someone was glaring a hole through me. My heart nearly catapulted out of my chest as I spotted my former sidekick, Nighteye standing just across the aisle from me, his gaze piercing through me.
I glanced in Amy's direction to find her giggling as Ritsu scurried across the shelf pointing at various books for her to pull out next. When I turned back to Nighteye, he was standing in front of me. "S-Sasaki." I blanched.
"All Might." His expression was cold, his yellow eyes narrowed in a withering look. His eyes flicked behind me as I heard Amy let out a giggle. I glanced around to see Ritsu struggling to pull a book that was way bigger than him and seemed to be wedged into the shelf really well as it wasn't budging. The small chipmunk wasn't about to give up thinking Amy needed the book.
"You almost got it." Amy's hair fluttered faintly and the book began to move slowly.
Ritsu stopped pulling and the book stopped moving and he struck a strange power pose.
"My hero." Amy giggled and held her hand out. Ritsu leapt into the palm of her hand. "Thank you for helping me look at books."
I turned back to Nighteye to see a small smile splayed across his lips, but the moment he caught me looking it was gone. "Going to introduce us?"
"S-sure." I couldn't believe he was talking to me, "Amy, could you come over here for a moment?"
"Hm?" Amy turned curiously, her bright baby blues filling with concern as she detected the edge to my voice. The books that had been pulled out reassembled themselves quickly as she walked over to us with a bright smile that was sure to melt even the iciest of hearts.
I cleared my throat, "I'd like to introduce you to my former sidekick, Mirai Sasaki, also known as Sir Nighteye." I motioned to the tall lanky man at my side.
Amy's smile brightened and she managed a cute curtsy, "a pleasure to meet you, I'm Amelia Takada."
Nighteye smiled, "I wanted to see what kind of person wrote a full page rejection letter to an internship offer in person. You're even more charming than I imagined."
"You wrote to all the agencies you didn't intern at?" I asked her in awe.
Amy blushed, "it felt rude not to respond, they all took the time to reach out to me. I didn't want to hurt anybody's feelings."
"The stickers on the envelope were a nice touch." Nighteye chuckled.
I could just imagine her with some cutesy Disney stationary decorating all of her envelopes with princessy stickers. The mental imagery alone was enough to make my heart melt. I couldn't help but look down at her and smile. Darkness began to creep at the edge of my consciousness, how long would her childlike innocence last? When would it be shattered by the dark things heroes face regularly? Just thinking of my sweet Amy losing her smile made me feel sick.
I shook my head forcing those dark thoughts away and looked back at Amy and Nighteye as she introduced him to Ritsu. My former sidekick smiled as he extended a finger to the knightly chipmunk atop Amy's shoulder.
"Interesting sidekick." Nighteye noted as the chipmunk shook his finger in greeting.
Amy looked at him curiously, "Ritsu isn't my sidekick, he's my friend and he's a knight." She giggled.
A loud crash sounded from the opposite side of the bookstore followed by a panicked shout of "look out!" I glanced over to see a large bookcase teetering over, knocked unbalanced by the individual and the ladder they'd been standing on as they had fallen into it.
A few people in the area began to panic. Amy's hair fluttered faintly and all of the books that had been falling, halted, the ladder stood upright, the man who'd fallen off the ladder was safely returned to the floor and the giant bookcase righted itself. Once everything was stable, the books repositioned themselves. The young employee who'd just been rescued searched the area in awe for who'd saved him before spotting Amy across the store. A grin lit up his face and he waved over in our direction.
"Thanks Princess Might!"
Amy smiled and waved back but was too polite to shout across the store. The young man looked absolutely lovestruck, if he wasn't in her fanclub before he most definitely was now.
Nighteve nodded to Amy, "well done." His gaze flicked over to me for a moment, "I actually had another reason for approaching you two."
Amy looked up at him curiously.
"I heard from Mirio they're allowing first years to participate in work studies this year." He looked over at me as I tensed, "have you put any thought into where you're going to complete your work study?" He returned his attention to Amy.
"Ah- actually we were going to discuss that over some ice cream." I interrupted, my voice cracking.
Amy threw me a curious look. "We were?"
I nodded.
"Very well." Noticing my very obvious discomfort Nighteye offered Amy another smile, "it was nice meeting you. If you do decide to complete your work study elsewhere, I'll be looking forward to another adorable rejection letter."
Amy returned his smile with one of her own that could have melted even the coldest of hearts, "thanks for taking care of Mirio-senpai, it was nice meeting you, Sir Nighteye."
"She must take after her mother." Nighteye quipped.
Amy looked thoughtful for a moment, the fact that he was taking a jab at me went right over her head, "I don't think so, she was really violent."
Nighteye chuckled softly before taking his leave.
Once he was gone, Amy looked over at me, "he seemed upset with you." She noted, perhaps it hadn't gone over her head like I had thought. Had she acted oblivious just to diffuse the tension?
"It's alright, we had a disagreement a few years back."
Amy looked thoughtful, "he wanted you to retire sooner?"
I nodded.
A mournful look clouded her face, "if you had, maybe we all could have been a family, together." She offered me a somber smile as she thought of her mother.
My heart ached. If I had listened to Nighteye, I would have tried to reconnect with Ayumi, I would have found out about Amy sooner and maybe, just maybe, Ayumi wouldn't have died. "That would have been nice."
Amy wiped away the tear that had fallen before putting on a brave face, burying her pain deep beneath the surface. She slipped her hand in mine, "let's get ice cream."
"Did you find some books you wanted?" I asked her, not wanting to cut her shopping short.
A single book drifted in our direction from the shelf.
"Just one? It's been awhile since we've gotten to go book shopping, why don't you get a few more?" I suggested. Two more floated over to us and I couldn't help but laugh. "Three more." Three more joined the others floating in the air around us. I chuckled softly and fished them out of the air so as not to draw attention. "Alright let's check out then we can go get ice cream.
After purchasing some books for Amy we headed to a small ice cream parlor a few blocks away from the mall. We got our favorite flavors and sat down at one of the small booths to eat. The ice cream parlor was mostly empty, though it was starting to get colder out so perhaps people weren't in the mood for ice cream.
Amy waited patiently as I thought of how to approach the subject. I'd been worried when I heard about the first years being able to start their work studies. They were much more in depth and potentially much more dangerous than their internships. After the incident with The League of Villains that left my daughter traumatized and finding out her connection to Shigaraki, I wanted to keep her out of the fray as much as possible.
"I have a friend I'd like you to complete your work study with." I began.
Amy gave me her full attention and waited for me to continue.
"They're not as well known as some of the other agencies that have reached out to you, but I think it would be a good work study for your first year..." I continued nervously.
"Who is it?"
"The Dispatch Hero: Tech." I replied.
Her baby blues held no recognition as I said the name. "I'm not familiar with them."
"They're more of a behind the scenes hero. Their quirk allows them to manage hundreds of surveillance cameras at once and they dispatch other heroes and police to the locations of crimes and disasters..." I trailed off as I saw her connecting the dots.
"I've been training with Katsuki..." She piped up softly. "You don't have to worry as much, I'm not afraid of fighting anymore."
"I know and you're doing great...but it's still too soon after..." I trailed off not wanting to say it and shake her up with any unpleasant memories from that traumatic experience, "I'd feel better, at least for your first work study..."
Amy reluctantly nodded, "okay."
"Thanks Princess."
She offered me a forced reassuring smile, "sure."
"I know I'm being a little overbearing, and I'm sorry...but I need this." I attempted to explain myself.
"It's fine." Though she was smiling, I could see the hurt in her eyes. I knew she didn't want to be coddled anymore she wanted to be stronger and do things for herself, I knew it was selfish of me but I wasn't ready for my little girl to be in the fray not with the possibility that Shigaraki now knew of their connection and what he might do with that information.
Before we left, Amy got some ice cream to take back to Bakugo, it was a unique chili flavor that I thought sounded odd but when I questioned it Amy informed me spicy foods were his favorite. We took a cab back to UA campus. She was quiet as I walked her back to her dorm. I knew I was being unreasonable with my request. I hoped she didn't misunderstand and think I thought her incapable or somehow lacking.
"Goodnight Dad." Amy's soft voice startled me out of my inner battle as we reached the dorm. She gave me a hug and I kissed the top of her head.
"Goodnight Princess."

The sea of stars. The momentaneous lifeforms that flicker far away. Our futures — a sea brimming with light. Each and every shimmer in the starry canvas serves as one’s infinite opportunities in the vast sea of the future. The world, however, is far from the ideals of such a mantra. Complacency is the enemy of progress, yet to the four known nations, each one sees enemies around their borders. An example: A village isolated from the nation of Alkai prevents the lives of many from progressing. It’ll take a society, a group, even a whipped together rag-tag team to jump start the quest for progress. An escape from a motionless home—in order to search for a greater future, Mira approaches her blade in a new light.
