《Princess of Peace [BNHA]》Chapter Twenty Nine

I paced nervously in the teacher's lounge. Young Shinso was using some of the school's facilities to further his training in hopes to get into the hero course. I owed him an apology. My words and dismissal of him could have been damaging to his psyche and Amy had tried to explain to me that I had the wrong idea about him, though I was too upset and wouldn't let her. Though Amy and I were back on good terms, I still felt awful. I wasn't ready for boys and they just kept showing up. There were too many of them, I was having trouble keeping track of all of them.
Finding my resolve, I left the teachers lounge and headed to the gym where I knew he'd be. As I stepped through the gymnasium doors, I spotted Shinso looking somewhat out of breath, he'd been here for a while. He was pushing himself too hard. He had a scarf around his neck similar to the one Aizawa had and was currently trying to hurl it at various targets to get better control over it. He turned as the doors slammed shut behind me and his indigo eyes grew wide. I felt a pang of guilt as he took a fearful step back.
I was a hero; I'd never gotten this kind of reaction out of someone who wasn't a villain. I'd gone too far. In my attempt to keep Amy safe, I'd crossed a line. I kept my distance and offered him a strained smile as I extended my hand in an attempt to show him, I didn't mean him any harm. "Ah...I owe you an apology..."
He kept his distance, "you don't. I already told you it was my fault. You were justified-."
"Amy said you were lying." I cut him off.
He looked as if he were going to try to argue but sighed, "well, no use arguing, she's the more trustworthy one."
"I could have handled last night, a lot better." I admitted. "I'm still new to this...I haven't had a lot of time with my daughter and I am not ready for there to be boys in her life."
"In case you didn't notice, she already has a harem of knights in shining armor." Shinso pointed with a snicker.

"I have noticed and I have no idea how to handle it." I groaned.
Shinso started to relax a little once he realized I wasn't hostile, "you trust her, don't you?"
"Of course, I do, it's everyone else who can't be trusted...and she's so sweet and a little naïve, I worry." I sighed.
"That's fair, she did tell me I should ask her in advance if it's an okay time to kidnap her in the future...and there's a lot wrong with that." Shinso frowned and shook his head.
"Oh no, it's worse than I thought." I groaned before shooting him a dark look, "and don't kidnap my daughter anymore."
Shinso shrugged his shoulders, "sometimes she needs it."
I unconsciously clenched my fists in anger at this and Shinso took another fearful step back. I realized I was clenching my fists and eased my grip trying to force myself to relax and not get worked up. Amy trusted him; he couldn't be too bad for her to think so highly of him. I just had to give him a chance. I took a deep breath to calm myself and fixed him with a stern, hopefully non-threatening, look.
Shinso tensed.
"What are your intentions with my daughter?" I asked him stiffly.
He paled slightly, "is there an answer to that question that lets me walk away unscathed?"
I glared at him.
He sighed and held his hands up for peace, "I don't have an answer... I don't know what my intentions are or where I see this going, besides potentially an early grave from her overbearing, helicopter parent..." He paled as he realized he'd said it out loud and took another step back, "all I do know is I like being around her, she doesn't treat me like a villain, like everyone else, she sees me...the real me... she's fun to tease but I can't stand to see her upset and most of all I really like making her smile..." he trailed off. His cheeks reddened and he averted his gaze, embarrassed.
I could hear Ayumi screaming in my head, he's bluffing! Punch him! Keep him and everyone else away from our precious daughter! "Thank you." I said after a moment, "for being honest with me...I'm sorry for misjudging you..."

He shrugged again, "everyone does, I'm used to it."
"You don't really do a lot to help with that." I grumbled before sighing once more. "I'm sorry, for what I said and my behavior...I'm not ready for Amy to start dating but I'm willing to let you two be friends...and...spend...time...together..." It hurt to say but I knew I needed to tone it down and give Amy a little more freedom. I now knew Shinso was a good kid, he didn't have any ill intentions toward her.
Shinso still looked a little apprehensive and wary, he nodded. "...Thanks..."
"Under supervision of course!" I added quickly.
"Figured." Shinso retorted before smirking in amusement, "I'm surprised you let her go to a training camp with her entire class and only one chaperone to look after her. They're staying overnight and her chaperone has to sleep at some point. Aren't you freaking out about her harem trying to make a move on her?"
I paled. "I need to call Amy!" I ran out the door causing Shinso to laugh.
Dropping my muscular form, I hurriedly called her cellphone. It went straight to voicemail and I started to panic wondering if she even got good cell reception at the training camp. I dialed Aizawa next. He answered on the second ring.
"I'm impressed you managed to make it five hours without calling." He remarked dryly.
"Where's Amy? Is she alright?!"
"I'm sure she's fi-." He began calmly but I flew into a panic.
"You don't know?! She's not with you?!" I panicked.
"She's training, with her classmates...as this is a training camp..." He sighed.
"...with her classmates..." Shinso's words rang in my head, "do you know how many boys are in her class?!"
"I'm hanging up now." Aizawa sighed and hung up.
I dialed him again.
He picked up before it could even finish ringing once, "what?"
"She's not sharing a room with any boys is she?" I panicked.
"No, all the girls are sharing a room and all the boys are sharing a different room." He sighed; I could just picture him rubbing his temples. "I'm hanging up."
The line dropped.
I felt a little better and phased into my muscular form before returning to the gym startling young Shinso once again as I stepped into the gym. "There's no need to worry, Amy is sharing a room with the girls, no boys."
Shinso shook his head and held back a laugh, "I don't recall saying the harem was a boys only club..."
"What?!" I bolted out the door again and dialed Aizawa a third time.
"What now?!" Aizawa answered, annoyed.
"Amy has to stay with you!" I blurted.
"Excuse me?" He asked in confusion.
"She needs to stay with you. She might have nightmares and need an adult." I rambled.
"I am not sharing a room with a teenage girl." He groaned, "you need to talk to someone, this is getting out of control." He hung up on me again.
I trudged back to the gym in defeat.
Shinso looked to me warily, "definitely freaking out."
"Alright, we're talking." I sighed.
Shinso looked confused.
"Aizawa said I need to talk to someone; we're talking and I'll help you with your training." I sighed.
"Pretty sure he meant a professional." Shinso snickered before realizing the rest of what I'd said, "wait...you're going to help me?"
"I don't have a lot of time but I'll do what I can with the time I have." I offered him what I hoped was a friendly smile though I knew it was a little strained.
"Not that I'm not appreciative, but why are you helping me?" He asked curiously.
"I trust Amy's judgement; she thinks highly of you and thinks you deserve to be in the hero course...so I'll try to help make that happen. Alright we've got thirty-three minutes." I clapped my hands, startling him again.
"That's a pretty specific number." Shinso pointed.
"Do you want my help?" I asked with a frown.
"Yeah...thanks...it might also make chaperoned friend visits less awkward in the future." He chuckled.

Discord Community: https://discord.gg/3tHKHAx7Ye The Vitaean Chronicles are a debut LitRPG High Fantasy series written with the intent of filling a niche I've yet to see filled anywhere else. This is my first novel of this kind, so please be patient with me. Throughout this story, I will endeavour to create an evolving and expansive narrative anchored around believable characters, compelling plotlines, and a consistent and sensible magic system. The purpose of this work is to create what I believe to be a relatively unique piece of fiction, drawing inspiration from many great stories that have come before from the likes of Tolkien, Jordan, Hertbert, Goodkind, Pratchett, Martin, and several others. My goal is not to create a masterpiece, but simply to create a story that someone can read and re-read with the same joy, same frustration, and same investment each time. This story will contain violence, politics, Shakespearian drama, tongue-in-cheek references, adult content, and well-crafted relationships of both platonic and romantic natures. I will not promise you will like every choice I make. I can only guarantee that I will do my best to create a story I, and you, can be proud of. As I progress, I will have room to incorporate fan-made characters for those interested in making their mark within the tapestry of this tale (with the customary disclaimer that they do so while waiving any rights to future profit, lol). Thank you to Royal Road for giving me the platform to do that, and thank you dear readers past, present, and future for choosing to come on this journey with me. Finally, just to cover myself: This work is Copyrighted to the Author herein known as 'Hannibal Forge', and recreation, distribution, or re-release of any material herein in a commercial or public capacity absent permission from the Author can and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.
