《Princess of Peace [BNHA]》Chapter Twenty One

Despite Gran Torino's assurances that Amy was going to be fine and there was no permanent damage, I rushed to Hosu General Hospital after our phone call. I arrived to find Endeavor in the main lobby looking somewhat conflicted. It was a strange look to see on the usually surly man's face. It seemed like he was at war with himself. From what I'd heard from Gran Torino, Endeavor had saved Amy, I owed him a great deal.
I approached him and heard him muttering something to himself, it sounded like 'what's so scary?'. "Yo, Endeavor, long time no see." I went with what I hoped was a neutral enough tone.
He turned and scowled at me, "what the hell is wrong with your child?!"
Was he in this state because he'd saved Amy? "Uh?" I wasn't entirely sure how to respond to that. "I'm not sure what you mean."
"What kind of reaction is it to scream in terror at the person who saves you from a literal monster?!" He roared.
"Ah." So that was what had happened. Knowing Amy, she probably thought Endeavor was scarier than a monster. "Perhaps if you tried smiling mor-."
"Who asked you?!" Endeavor roared at me.
I resisted the urge to point out that he'd literally just asked me and instead offered him a polite bow, "thank you for saving Amy. I owe you-."
"I don't want your thanks." He growled at me before turning and walking away.
"Ah...okay...nice talk..." I watched him storm away before heading off in the direction of Amy's room. When I arrived, I got a strange foreboding sense of déjà vu of when I'd first met her. My heart dropped. The last time she'd had to stay in a hospital, she'd lost her mother. This had to be bringing back all those painful memories. I should have come sooner! What kind of parent was I to leave her to suffer alone?! "AMY!" I yelled in a panic and burst through the door of the room I'd been told she was in.
Young Midoriya, Iida and Todoroki were all sitting on a hospital bed next to Amy's playing a game of cards and jumped at my sudden outburst and arrival. Amy was sound asleep in the bed next to theirs. Just like the first time I'd seen her, she looked ghostly pale and so small and fragile alone in her hospital bed. I didn't want to disturb her even if my initial reaction was to run to her and pull her into my arms. I had to resist the urge, I didn't want to hinder her recovery or somehow embarrass her in front of her peers.
"All Might." The boys looked to me in awe.
"Ah...sorry about that." I offered them a smile and lowered my voice. Chancing a glance behind me, I blanched as I realized I'd knocked the sliding style door off it's tracks in my haste to get to Amy. "Not to worry, I'll fix it." Nervously I scrambled to fix the door so as not to get in trouble with the hospital.
The boys were watching me closely as I fixed the door before stepping further into their room. I glanced over at Amy's bed fighting the urge to run to her. It's not like I'd be much help right now. I turned my attention to the bandaged-up trio of boys. My brain was too frazzled with worry for Amy to think of any uplifting speeches, lectures or any words to really be of help to them. I looked to young Midoriya before glancing back at Amy's sleeping form.

"I heard she saved a lot of people." Young Iida spoke up with a smile and the other two nodded.
Of course, she did, she was a natural, but seeing her like this, I wasn't so sure I could handle her living the life of a hero. I'd been a wreck hearing she'd been injured, I was still kind of a wreck on the inside, I had no idea how I was keeping it together, hearing her voice on the phone had helped but seeing her now I knew she'd been putting on a brave face for me, to make me feel better.
I managed to find the words to express my gratitude to the boys for watching over Amy in the hospital and wished them all a speedy recovery before sweeping her sleeping form into my arms and taking her with me to get her discharged. Though it was probably a somewhat unorthodox method of getting her released, it worked and I managed to get her safely back home before she woke up. I didn't need her waking up in the hospital again, it brought back too many bad memories for her.
Once I got her home and tucked into her own bed with an army of plushies to surround and protect her, she stirred awake. Her bright blue eyes slowly fluttered open before growing wide as she realized she wasn't at the hospital anymore. Tears welled in her eyes as she spotted me sitting at the edge of her bed.
"Dad!" She cried and before I could stop her, she sat upright and dove into my arms.
"I'm sorry Princess, I should have gotten to you sooner." I apologized as I held her gently in my arms afraid to squeeze too tight and hurt her.
Her delicate frame trembled against me as she hugged me tightly and cried in my arms. Just imagining her being in danger and feeling scared, broke my heart. I rocked her gently in my arms praying I wasn't hurting her healing wounds. She cried quietly in my arms for quite some time.
Once she'd finally calmed down, I managed to get her back into bed and tucked her in. She grabbed my hand once I'd tucked her in as if she were afraid, I was going to leave her side.
"I'm not going anywhere, Princess." I squeezed her hand back and smiled as she seemed to relax. She curled up on her side clutching her princess bear under one arm and clinging tightly to my hand. "Are you alright?"
"I didn't listen to Grampa Torino and I ended up getting hurt and worrying you again and I was horribly rude to Endeavor even though he saved me and now I feel really bad." She cried.
I couldn't help but laugh, it was too cute.
"Dad! It's not funny!" She cried.
"No, no you're right, it's not funny." I tried to calm myself down but couldn't help but chuckle, "I'm sorry, I was just worried that you were traumatized because of how scary the experience was. I'm relieved that this is what you were worrying about."
"It was scary...but I didn't have time to be scared in the moment." She mumbled softly. "I just wanted everyone to be okay."
I gave her hand another squeeze, "I heard you saved a lot of people." I was trying to reassure her but in the back of my mind I kept thinking back on Snipe's words at the Sports Festival when he jokingly said I should lock her away. It was tempting to try to find somewhere safe to hide her away but as much as I wanted to keep her safe and protected, I couldn't deny she was going to be a remarkable hero. No matter how much I wanted to lock her away for her safety, I had to let her do what she wanted to do.

When Amy was released from the hospital, the doctors told me to make sure she didn't do anything too strenuous but assured me she should be able to get up and move around the following day. On Friday, I took her to UA with me as I had some hero course prep work to complete and didn't want her to be too far away from me while she was recovering.
Her movements were stiff and I could tell she was uncomfortable most the day but she didn't complain and tried her best to be helpful. She offered to help me and the other teachers until Aizawa scolded her for trying to do too much when she was supposed to be recovering and told her to go rest in the teacher's lounge nearly making her cry in the process.
Around lunchtime, I sent her ahead of me as I finished up a few things before phasing into my muscular hero form so I could walk freely around the school and meet up with her in the cafeteria. When I reached the cafeteria, I felt a sense of panic as I spotted Amy red faced on the floor in the arms of a very familiar boy with unruly indigo hair and tired indigo eyes, Hitoshi Shinso. His face was also bright red.
"Are you alright, Princess Scaredy Cat?" Shinso grumbled as he sat up with a grimace keeping a firm hold on Amy. It appeared she'd taken a spill and he went down with her in an attempt to catch her.
Amy nodded, there were tears welling in her eyes and she buried her red face in her hands trying to hide her embarrassment. "I'm sorry." She sniffled.
Shinso glanced down at her and smirked before getting to his feet with her in his arms. "You worry too much." He sighed as he realized she was still mortified and carried her to a nearby table and set her down gently, "let's try this again, hey Princess Scaredy Cat?"
Amy slowly lifted her head and looked up at him with tear filled eyes, "w-what?" Her eyes went blank as if she were caught in trance. He caught her in his quirk! Toshinori! Kill that punk! I clenched my fists and was about to rush forward but paused as I heard him speak.
"Answer me honestly, are you alright?" He asked her with a frown.
"No, it hurts." She replied in a daze and unconsciously clutched at her sides; the fall must have jostled her healing wounds. Her eyes suddenly filled with clarity and her face turned even redder, "th-that wasn't very nice, Shinso."
A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips and he placed a hand atop her head, "yet it seems to be the only way you answer me honestly." He ruffled her hair, "I'll take you back to the teacher's lounge. That's where your dad is, right?"
Amy nodded. Her face reddened again as Shinso turned his back on her and knelt down intending to give her a piggyback ride. I panicked as I realized they'd see me if they moved toward me and they'd know I saw the whole exchange. I darted back to the teacher's lounge in a flash nearly knocking over Present Mic and Aizawa in the process as they headed to the lounge with their lunches in hand.
"What's the rush?" Present Mic asked as he and Aizawa stepped into the lounge after me.
"Rush?" I feigned ignorance.
They exchanged curious looks before Aizawa frowned, "where's Amy?"
"Yeah, where is Princess Might, I thought you were taking her to lunch?" Present Mic piped up.
Before I could answer there was a knock at the door. I rushed to answer it receiving another strange look from Aizawa and Present Mic. Pulling the door open I spotted Shinso with Amy on his back, they both jumped as the door nearly flew off its hinges.
"Ah, young Shinso, thank you for bringing Amy here safely." I laughed nervously; my voice came out much louder than I had intended earning a strange look from everyone.
"Right..." Shinso frowned slightly as he set Amy down gently, "I think she's hurt." He cast a reprimanding look in her direction as if he'd expected her to try to hide her pain again.
"Thank you, young Shinso." My voice was still coming out louder than necessary and sounded somewhat strained as I felt conflicting emotions.
"I see where the strangeness comes from." Shinso remarked with a teasing smirk in Amy's direction before messing up her hair, "see ya around, Princess Scaredy Cat." He waved behind him as he turned to walk away.
"Thank you, Shinso." Amy squeaked after him.
He waved once more and disappeared down the hall. I looked down at Amy as she guiltily bowed her head staring down at her feet. "Amy?"
"I'm sorry, you don't like me being that close to boy-."
I placed my hand atop her head, "it's okay, how are you feeling?"
She chewed on her bottom lip and for a moment I thought she'd try to be brave and hide it but she caved, "not good."
"Let's go see Recovery Girl." I lifted her into my arms and felt my heart clench in my chest as I realized she was trembling. She was in a lot of pain.
"O-okay."
Recovery Girl was able to ease some of Amy's pain though it had made her quite sleepy. She spent the rest of the day sleeping in the teacher's lounge on one of the sofas. When I was finally finished preparing everything for the next few weeks of hero course classes, I headed to the teacher's lounge to check on her and take her home.
Amy was still sound asleep on the sofa, though now had a cute pink sleeping bag draped over her and ear buds in her ears. Aizawa was sound asleep cocooned in a yellow sleeping bag on the floor not too far away from the sofa. Present Mic was dozing off on the floor leaning against the sofa holding a device in his hand that was currently playing Disney music through three sets of headphones, one for each of them. I chuckled softly at the scene before me, it appeared Amy had charmed herself two uncles.
