《Princess of Peace [BNHA]》Chapter Sixteen

It was only the first week of school and I was seriously starting to doubt myself. I felt like I didn't belong. I wasn't cut out to be a hero, I'd just be a liability to everyone. My quirk scared me and I couldn't control it very well. In a self-depreciating spiraling daze, I blindly followed my classmates onto the bus to take us to the off-site facility we'd be practicing rescue training at.
I slumped into a seat in silence and stared down at my hands folded into my lap trying to find a reason for me to be here. Izuku had inspired me, his passion made me want to be a hero and help him on his way to becoming a hero. Despite him cheering me on, I felt like I was just messing up. I was causing problems for everyone else.
Everyone was having a lively discussion around me, but I couldn't focus on anything other than my own worthlessness. Maybe it wasn't too late to talk to dad about dropping out entirely or switching over to General Studies even he could probably see I didn't belong here. I'd made a mess of everything during our fight training, I didn't even fight, I couldn't fight. The conversation started to die down, I thought I heard Mr. Aizawa's voice.
A moment later someone grabbed me roughly by the shoulder and shook me. I glanced upward and found myself ensnared by a pair of angry deep crimson eyes. A barely audible squeak escaped me as I found myself face to face with a livid Bakugo. His eyes widened for a moment as he held my teary gaze.
"Move, loser!" He snarled and lightly shoved me. Though he hadn't put much force behind his shove, I nearly toppled out of my seat and into the aisle. I managed to catch myself and realized everyone else was starting to exit the bus.
A few of my classmates looked to me curiously as I stumbled out of my seat. I hadn't even realized I'd been sitting next to Bakugo. Perhaps I should have tried to pay more attention to my surroundings.
Bakugo scowled at me, I was still in his way. He reached toward me and I instinctively flinched.
Nothing happened.
Shakily I peeked up at him to find him glaring down at me.
"What the hell is your problem?" He glowered.
"I'm sorry." I squeaked and bowed awkwardly before running away following the rest of the class off the bus.
"Amy are you okay?" Jiro asked me as I stepped off the bus. She and the rest of the girls threw scowls in Bakugo's direction as they surrounded me and ushered me away from the bus like a bunch of mother hens.
"A-ah, I'm fine." I panicked.
"Was Bakugo bullying you again?" Yaoyorozu asked and out of the corner of my eye I noticed him shoot a dark glare in our direction.
"WHAT?!" He raged.
"A-ah, n-no, he wasn't." I yelped.
I glanced around as we reached the USJ. Dad was supposed to be here. I didn't see him anywhere. My stomach tied itself into nervous knots. Did something happen? Maybe he'd just done a little more hero-ing than normal this morning and was at his limit. I couldn't seem to focus on anything, my mind was focused inward on my inability to do anything and then worrying about Dad, Midoriya and all my classmates.
I was so focused on myself; I completely missed the speech from Thirteen. He was a Pro Hero that specialized in rescues. When I finally shook myself from my dwindling thoughts, the power begun to flicker. I noticed the fountain in the center of the giant dome shaped building begin to sputter. Was there some kind of power surge?

A strange black mist appeared in front of the fountain and slowly began to expand. My heart started to race as I saw a terrifying looking man with pale hair, gaunt features and strange pale dead disembodied hands clinging to his body. He stepped out of the mist with dozens upon dozens of other terrifying looking individuals. What was going on?!
"Whoa, what is that thing?!" Kirishima sounded from a step behind me as he took a step forward to get a closer look. He stopped next to me and lifted his hand as he strained to get a better look, "has the training started already? I thought we were rescuing people."
I glanced over at the crimson haired boy curiously. Could he not sense that terrifying aura all those people had brought with them? My body was screaming at me, I was getting so many mixed signals, run, hide, protect your friends, cry. I didn't know what to do. All I knew is we were all in danger.
"Stay back!" Aizawa snapped as Izuku took a step forward to get a closer look causing all of us to jump. "This is real. Those are villains."
He confirmed my fears and I felt my body begin to tremble. There were so many of them.
A dark deep voice sounded from within the mist, "The only real heroes I see are Thirteen and Eraser Head. Perplexing. According to the schedule we retrieved from UA, All Might should be here as well." Once all the villains stepped from the mist, it began to change its shape into an almost humanoid figure with bright glowing yellow eyes.
A gasp escaped me. Is that why there'd been such a commotion during lunch hour yesterday? The alarms had gone off and scared everyone, we all thought it was because the press had been too crazy trying to get interviews from staff and students about All Might teaching and trying to find out who his daughter was. Somehow, Dad had managed to keep me out of the press so far. Mr. Aizawa and Present Mic had escorted me home yesterday to keep me safe from the press. The villains must have used the press as a cover to infiltrate the school to get a schedule. Were they targeting Dad?
"What? Real villains? No way!" Kirishima stared in disbelief. "How could so many of them get into a UA facility this secure?"
"...when the lights flickered..." I gasped, "they were taking down the security systems."
Everyone tensed and looked to Thirteen and Aizawa. Mr. Aizawa looked to me with a small smile. "You're probably right, you should really stop doubting yourself Amelia, you deserve to be here just as much as anyone else." He pointed as if he knew exactly what I'd been beating myself up about since our fight training two days ago. He turned his attention to Thirteen, "Thirteen, get them out of here and alert the main campus." Mr. Aizawa paused, "Actually, if they've got the ability to block our sensors, then they might be jamming our regular communications too. Kaminari, try using your quirk to contact the school."
I looked to the blonde-haired boy standing on the other side of Kirishima as he tried to use his electricity like quirk to contact the school. "Yes, sir."
Izuku looked to Mr. Aizawa worried, "what are you going to do? You can't fight them on your own! There's too many of them. Even if you can nullify their quirks, your fighting styles not suited for this. Your power works best with stealth and one on one fights. That's not going to help with a group."

"You can't be a pro if you only have one trick." Aizawa smirked before darting forward, "I'll leave it to you Thirteen."
My stomach lurched as I watched him dive into the fray. "Mr. Aizawa." I bit my lip; I didn't want to leave him to handle things alone.
A strong hand encircled my wrist and I let out a soft squeak as I was wrenched backward away from the edge of the stairs and out of sight from the villains. I turned warily and blanched as I spotted an irate looking Bakugo. When I opened my mouth to question him, he roughly shoved me in the back so I'd follow the rest of the class and Thirteen toward the exit. My legs were a little unsteady as I stumbled from his sudden shove and I ran to catch up with the others. When I glanced over, I saw Bakugo keeping my pace. Why did it feel like he was trying to look out for me and make sure I didn't get left behind? That didn't seem like him.
Thirteen led the way and stopped with a gasp as the shadowy humanoid misty man who'd transported all the villains here seemed to materialize out of the floor just ahead, blocking our escape. We all skidded to a stop.
"There is no escape for you." The man's voice was deep and dark. It sent a shiver down my spine and gripped my heart with terror. "It's a pleasure to meet you. We are the League of Villains. I know it's impolite but we decided to invite ourselves in to this haven of justice to say hello. And besides, isn't this a fitting place for All Might, The Symbol of Peace, to take his last breath?"
Dad? They wanted to kill him?! Tears welled in my eyes, I'd just been about to wish for him to show up and rescue us all, but now I wanted him to stay as far away as possible. I didn't want anything to happen to him.
"I believe he was supposed to be here today, and yet I see no sign of him. There must have been some sort of change in plans we could not have foreseen." The shadowy man continued on and I felt his glowing yellow eyes sweep in my direction. "Ah, so the rumors are true, he does have a daughter."
Everyone around me tensed. Dad, stay away, no matter what, stay away, I can't lose you too.
"In the end, I suppose it doesn't matter, I still have a role to play and we may be able to lure him out with the death of his precious daughter." The Shadow Man let out a soft dark laugh that instantly made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.
Bakugo let out a roar of rage, "like hell, bastard!" He and Kirishima darted forward simultaneously with battle cries that would make any warrior proud.
I let out a yelp as their combined attack created a giant explosion and hurriedly threw my arms up to cover my face. When the smoke and dust settled Bakugo and Kirishima were still standing, facing the villain, ready for a fight.
"Did ya think we were just gonna stand around and let you kill one of our classmates?" Kirishima growled.
The villain appeared completely unscathed by their attacks. "You certainly live up to your school's reputation, but you should be more careful children, otherwise you might get hurt."
"No! Look out!" I squealed, my quirk activated on its own and Kirishima and Bakugo were both dragged backward to avoid being struck. They both landed swiftly a few feet in front of me just as the villain let out a chuckle.
"I'll scatter you across this facility, see if you can save the little Princess then." The villain launched a wave of dark shadow toward all of us.
"AMY!" I heard Izuku call my name.
I felt strong arms encircle me as we were all thrown into darkness. I let out a terrified yelp and struggled to look at who was holding me. My heart stuttered in my chest as I met a pair of familiar angry crimson eyes, "B-Bakugo?" Tears welled in my eyes.
"Shut up, Crybaby, just hang on to me." He grumbled.
I obeyed and threw my arms around his neck, burying my face into his chest as we were overtaken by the strange warped shadows.
Suddenly the strange rushing winds stopped and I could no longer hear the voices of the rest of our class. I shakily turned my head and yelped as I realized we were now standing in a rundown building that looked like it might collapse at any moment completely surrounded by villains. They were pointing guns at us.
"Get behind me, you two!" Kirishima's voice sounded to my left. He'd activated his quirk his skin had become hard and almost rock like. I wasn't sure he was bullet proof though.
Bakugo's grip around me tightened and he held his other hand out readying an explosion. Before either of them could do anything more, a plethora of guns fired at once.
I screamed and my quirk acted reflexively. Just like that time at the bank, there were now dozens of bullets frozen in the air. The building began to groan as if a great force was trying to pull it from the ground. My quirk was going insane. Objects and debris not held down were starting to levitate off the floor.
"Whoa! Amy! That's amazing!" Kirishima cheered.
The villains all began to shout as their firearms began to float into the air out of their reach. My body trembled uncontrollably and I bit my lip to keep myself from crying so Bakugo wouldn't yell at me again. His crimson gaze flicked down at me and for a moment I thought he was going to yell and flinched.
Bakugo let out a sigh and looked to be struggling to keep himself from yelling, "close your eyes, Crybaby."
"W-what?!" I squealed.
"Close them!" He snapped and I squeaked and did as he said.
I felt his hands gently grab my wrists before he moved them, "don't move an inch or you're dead meat." He grumbled as he moved my hands to cover my ears.
What was he doing?
I cringed as I heard loud shouts and screams and realized a battle had broken out around me. Explosions from Bakugo's quirk shook the unstable building. After a few minutes though it felt more like hours, a hand lightly dropped onto my shoulder causing me to let out a squeal and whoever had touched me to lift off the ground.
"PUT ME DOWN, CRYBABY!" Bakugo roared behind me.
I uncovered my ears and hesitantly opened my eyes before spinning around to find all the villains unconscious on the floor. Bakugo was hovering near the ceiling and Kirishima looked like he was fighting off a laugh. "You scared me!" I cried.
"Shut up and put me down!"
"I'm trying!" I squealed as I tried to focus on him and imagine him gently floating back to the ground. Nothing happened.
"TRY HARDER!" Bakugo was livid.
"It would work a lot better if you wouldn't yell at me." I sniffled.
Kirishima laughed, "don't worry Amy, he's just yelling because he was worried about you."
"Shut the hell up, loser! Why the hell would I worry about a stupid crybaby?!" Bakugo raged. The top of his head bumped the ceiling and his entire face turned scarlet with anger. "PUT ME DOWN OR I'LL KICK YOUR ASS!"
I dropped to my knees and tried to calm my breathing. After a few deep breaths I managed to lower Bakugo to the ground and release him from my hold. Once he was on his feet, he shot me a glare but made no move to attack me like I thought he would.
"I think that's the last of these guys." Bakugo noted as he looked to all the unconscious villains. "Bunch of weaklings." He sighed.
Kirishima turned to me and offered me a hand, "Alright, let's hurry and find the rest of our class. If we three are still in the USJ, then everyone else probably is too and not all of them have the offensive skills we do." His red eyes flicked over at me, "like you, Amy."
I bowed my head, "sorry for being a burden."
"Ah! No, don't get the wrong idea." Kirishima blanched as he waved his arms nervously, "you were amazing, your defense is perfect, but you don't like violence so your offense is uh-..." He paused trying to find a nice way to say it.
"Pathetic." Bakugo supplied for him.
"Ah! Bakugo! That wasn't very nice!" Kirishima snapped before shaking his head, "we gotta make sure our classmates are safe. Especially since we screwed things up at the start. If we hadn't gotten in the way, Thirteen could have sucked up that villain and we'd never have gotten separated or put Amy in danger. We have to make it up to the others."
"You want to track everyone down, have fun." Bakugo grumbled under his breath before glaring off in the direction we'd all teleported from, "I'm gonna go destroy that warpy bastard!"
"Huh?" Kirishima gaped at him. "Our physical attacks didn't hurt that guy! C'mon, don't be an idiot, man."
"Shut up!" Bakugo snarled and lunged at Kirishima. "I'm gonna take him down because he's their way in and out! If I cut off their escape route then they'll be stuck here and have to pay for what they've done!"
I spotted a villain moving on the wall behind Bakugo. He had some kind of chameleon quirk and was able to camouflage himself. He came into view with a knife in hand and lunged at them both as they were bickering.
"NO! Don't hurt them!" I screamed and cast out my hand without thinking. My quirk went berserk and the villain flew backward with enough force he plunged through the wall and fell to the ground three stories below. I let out a panicked squeal, "ah! I'm so sorry!"
Bakugo and Kirishima looked at me blankly.
Kirishima choked on a laugh, "Amy, did you just apologize to the villain?"
"I guess so." I wiped at my eyes and tried to keep myself from crying.
Bakugo sighed, "don't cry about it!"
"I'm trying not to!" I yelled back.
Kirishima chuckled, "good grief, man, just tell her you like her and get it over with."
"What the hell did you just say?!" Bakugo snarled enraged and lunged for Kirishima.
While they were being children, I managed to calm myself down and wipe away the few traitor tears that had slipped from my hold before slowly getting to my feet and dusting myself off. I looked over as Bakugo caught Kirishima in a headlock and paled. "Ah! Don't fight!" I squeaked.
Bakugo rolled his eyes and released Kirishima from his hold, "anyway, if all these villains are small fries like these guys were." He pointed to the room of unconscious villains, "then our classmates can handle 'em." His gaze flicked over at me, "go find the others if you want and take Princess Crybaby with you."
I bit my lip trying not to get upset by his mean words, "why are you so mean?!"
"Ah, don't let it bother you, Amy, he's only mean to you because he likes you, right?" Kirishima teased him.
"SHUT THE HELL UP!" Bakugo raged and turned to storm away.
"Wait, hold up!" Kirishima called out to him causing him to halt in the doorway leading to the stairwell, "I think what you're really saying is that you believe in our classmates. And that's thinking like a man, Bakugo." He grinned, "I'm in, let's go get that warpy guy." He turned to me with a smile, "Amy?"
I trembled slightly before nodding, "O-okay."
Kirishima smiled, "you don't have to fight anyone, just watch our backs, okay?"
I returned his smile and nodded. "I'll do my best."
"That's the spirit!" Kirishima grinned and draped an arm across my shoulders, "let's go!"
Bakugo looked like he was going to protest but decided against it and walked away in silence. The three of us made our way toward the center of the giant dome building where the fountain was. I hoped Mr. Aizawa was okay.
When we got within view of the fountain, my heart stopped beating, my blood ran cold and I forgot how to function as I saw Dad captured by the villains. There was blood staining his white shirt where his injury that limited his quirk was and where the strange giant bird like creature was gripping him painfully tight. They knew his weakness! I vaguely heard the warp villain say something about tearing him to pieces when I noticed Izuku running toward him with a cry. Bakugo sprinted ahead with a roar of rage.
"Amy?" Kirishima looked to me in concern as I struggled to keep myself upright. Dad was in danger. "Crap." He slowly released me from his hold and bolted after Bakugo to help.
"Dad." I breathed softly in a panic. I sprinted after Bakugo and Kirishima as Bakugo managed to tackle the warp villain to the ground with some not so very heroic sounding words. Kirishima missed his target. "DAD!" I screamed as tears streaked down my cheeks. There was so much blood!
