《Junoesque ✿George Weasley✿》103.

The wedding had been everything Blair had ever dreamed of. Despite the plan to have it in a historical church or beside a beautiful lake of some kind, The Burrow still came out on top as the location for the ceremony. However, no tent was needed on this day besides a small gazebo version that stood over the buffet table. An altar had been assembled out of vines and flowers which stood in between rows of chairs that the few guests would occupy. Even though things were slowly returning to normality in the Wizarding world, people jumped at the invitations that arrived at their doors and made haste to RSVP. Everyone was aware that Blair and George would be getting married sometime in the coming months and praised its arrival like the second coming of Merlin himself.
The same old wizard from Bill and Fleur's wedding had been asked to do the service and this time, the Order of the Phoenix didn't have to be alert for ambushes. There would be no need for patrolling and everyone could enjoy the ceremony as solely what it was; the bonding between two people that would spend the rest of their lives together. The sun was shining and there was a light breeze on the day of the wedding, making it the perfect time to tie the knot for good.
George had been swooped away by his brothers to get ready and the same had happened with Blair. Only her friends had taken the place of her family for the preparations and for the ceremony. Nancy, Mina and Poppy had cornered off Ginny's room in order to get Blair ready for the day she had been waiting for. The dress she wore was simple yet elegant. She wanted it to be something that wasn't casual (even though George would have liked it either way) and made her feel beautiful. No one liked the idea about having a black dress and advocated for the whitest of dresses they could find. The top half of her shoulders and collarbones were bare and fitted her chest nicely, before spraying out into light ruffles of silk.
"You have so much hair," Nancy mentioned while trying to thread Blair's hair through itself to create part of her bun. "How long do you want it to be?"
"I've never really thought about. I've just been letting it grow," Blair admitted sheepishly. She sat on a chair that was in front of a mirror, the window shining behind it to give her a natural glow. On Ginny's bed sat Poppy and Mina, who were laying out their own dresses and doing each other's makeup. They had been lucky enough to be given the chance to be Blair's bridesmaids along with Nancy and Ginny.
"Why don't we cut it now?!" Mina perked up with a grin.
"I just made this!" Nancy shrieked while gesturing to the elegant bun and tendrils she had done in Blair's hair.
"Yeah! Can we, Nancy?" Blair beamed and turned around, looking hopefully towards the three. "I haven't cut my hair in years!"
"You want to do this on your wedding day?" Poppy questioned. "What if it turns out awful? You'll be walking down the isle with a lopsided cut."
"Shouldn't be too different. George is pretty lopsided as well."
The three bridesmaids' faces dropped in shock at the joke but found themselves giggling when they found Blair laughing to herself. They knew that George had his ear cursed off by Severus Snape and were never sure if it was right to mention it in case he was self-conscious about it. But judging by Blair's laid back attitude, they assumed it was okay to giggle about it.

"You sure you want to do this?" Poppy made sure as she appeared with a pair of scissors. Nancy had grumpily pulled out the hard work she had done in Blair's hair and stepped back to let the other girl take over. She vowed to never volunteer to do the bride's hair again for a wedding in case she suddenly decides to cut it all off in the process.
"Yes. I want it short."
"How short?"
"Like, short."
---
The ceremony was in full effect. Guests had arrived in their masses and flocked towards George who stood with his older brothers near the altar. In his dashingly black suit, George had put some effort into his hair and had pulled it over to the side in attempts to bring the attention away from where his ear should be. Some of his relatives shamelessly pointed and asked what on earth had happened to him, to which he replied with he was just too holy.
Molly had been settled into a seat at the front with Arthur, Ron, Percy and Fleur. Bill, Charlie and Fred had been chosen personally by George to be his best men, which received multiple grumbles from all of the Weasley children. But they were shushed by their mother who said it was his special day and therefore his choice. The rest of the Weasley clan had been chosen specifically for this particular wedding. Aunt Muriel was not invited and multiple of their troublesome cousins had also not been notified. Only those who George actually liked were given the opportunity to come and fill the last few chairs that had been placed on the groom's side.
On the bride's side, the chairs had been filled with those Blair counted as her family. Besides the Weasleys, Blair had invited some of her old Professors along with Harry, Hermione and others she knew at Hogwarts. Professor Flitwick, Professor McGonagall and Hagrid were touched at being invited and sat in their best clothes behind the front row. Filling up the rest of the chairs was Remus, Tonks who held Teddy on her lap, Kingsley and the rest of the Order of the Phoenix. Some of the people she had saved during the Battle of Hogwarts had turned up out of the blue, saying that they wanted to see the commemoration, congratulate her and again thank her for giving them the chance to live again. To this, she requested more cheers and thanked them for coming.
"Stop jittering, will you?" Fred shoved George's shoulder. "It's hardly a time to be nervous. She's not going to run out on you."
"It's my wedding day, Freddie! How can I not be nervous?" George shot back while letting out a deep breath. He bounced on his heels and continuously looking towards The Burrow where Blair would eventually emerge. Charlie was being the one to give Blair away and would be the one to bring her out of the house in full sight of all the guests and of her future husband.
"This shirt is chaffing," Fred grumbled, pulling at his collar. "Why did you pick these, Georgie? They're the worst."
"They look nice. Just deal with it," Bill butted in with a shove of his younger brother.
George was ready to strangle his brother. He had wanted this day to be perfect and none of Fred's running commentary was going to ruin that for him and Blair. Everything had gone to plan so far. Those who had been invited had turned up on time and even brought dishes for them to have during the ceremony. Molly's many meals had been enough, but now there was even more to gobble down (that would be sure to keep Fred quiet). The tuxes he had chosen for Bill, Charlie and Fred had fit and everyone looked amazing. There was only the addition of Blair and everything would be perfect. It was the wedding that she, and he admitted he also, had wanted.

Hearing the door open and close at the front of The Burrow, heads whipped around to catch a glimpse of the bride. George gulped as Poppy, Nancy, Mina and Ginny appeared first and walked in a line down the groups of chairs. The guests stood, with Hagrid towering over them, and beamed at the bridesmaids' pretty dresses and elegant smiles. Molly had already begun sobbing at the very sight of Ginny in her second bridesmaids' dress in two years and George hoped that the woman wouldn't be too emotional once Blair appeared.
But when she did, he hadn't considered the fact that he would be the emotional one. He had seen Charlie first and felt his heart leap at what was to come next. Charlie wore his dashing tux and had his arm hooked around a thin, pale one that lead up to the girl he had been waiting for. Once The Burrow's wall wasn't covering her, he finally saw his bride-to-be. Her dress was beautiful and her face was beautiful. She was smiling and laughing at something Charlie had said quietly in her ear (Fred joked it was to run away with him and ditch the wedding) and George felt a pit in his stomach growing larger and larger as they came closer to the altar.
Her hair had been the second thing people noticed. The dress was bright and amazing enough to be the first thing that drew the eye, but the shortness of her hair had been the next. Her black tips brushed against her pale shoulders as they flew with the light wind. The thickness had been cut out, leaving it wispy and light. The edges, despite being done by an extremely unqualified witch named Poppy, were clean and even. The shine of blackness hadn't been taken with the new style and still contrasted strongly with her dress.
Molly was uncontrollably sobbing now. Arthur held his wife against his chest and let her cry into his suit, smiling at his son and his soon-to-be daughter in law that were steps away from the altar. Charlie slipped his arm out from under hers and handed her off to George's awaiting hand, the two staring at each other in giddiness and shock from finally being in such a situation.
"Hello," she said and George grinned, tears threatening to leak out of his eyes.
"H-Hi," he stammered.
"Hi, Blair!" Fred cheered and nearly shoved George to the side. He was pushed backwards and caught by Charlie, who made sure to smack him over the head for interrupting the meaningful moment.
Blair stared up at George with both of her hands clamped in his. She felt beautiful and important. And standing with George looking as handsome as ever was something that made her weak in the knees. She was glad her dress was thick and long, covering her joints that were bound to be visibly shaking. With her hair short and sweeping over her shoulders, she felt powerful and elegant next to George.
"Are you ready?" George asked, keeping his voice together the best he could.
"I am. Are you?"
George nodded and lifted her hand that he had in his, kissing her knuckles. A tiny 'aww' came from the guests and Molly let out a loud weep. The two were glowing and buzzed with excitement. The wizard at the front cleared his throat and asked if he should begin, to which was answered by Fred with a sarcastic eye roll.
Blair barely heard any of the rambling the wizard did. She was sure that it was just the traditional speech that came before the important part; the I do's. Both she and George agreed that saying a whole bunch of vows would only prolong the ceremony and prevent the I do's for an unnecessary moment longer. They agreed to do the basics and give the guests and themselves a short and sweet commemoration.
"Do you take this man, Blair Rosier, as your husband?"
"I do."
"And do you, George Weasley, take this woman to be your wife?"
"I do."
"Then I pronounce you bonded for life."
George took Blair's waist and leaned down to kiss her while Blair's hands cupped his face. Applause erupted from the guests and the chairs disappeared, being replaced by round dining tables with fancier looking chairs. The two pulled away and smiled at each other, now both wearing silver bands on their ring fingers. Molly's ring was still on Blair's while George had his own ring, only this one had no diamond. It was plain and simple, but meant so much more than just a piece of jewellery.
"Aw you're Mrs Weasley now," Charlie said from next to George, clapping along with the guests.
"You're right. I am," Blair smiled and stared up into George's eyes, unable to contain her bright smile. Their noses were close enough to touch and their eyelashes flickered against each other's cheek. They were close and tied, officially bonded and married for life.
After this moment, Blair's favourite part was the traditional dance. She had been longing to perform it ever since Bill and Fleur had done it at their wedding. She didn't know the steps, but was able to laugh along with George as he led her around the dance floor. People gathered around them and left space for them to dance before George took her waist and held her other hand high in his. They then began to side step from side to side along with the violins and cellos that played in the corner. Guests clapped to the beat while the two danced merrily, laughing at each other and high off the feeling of being married.
There was then the moment for the slow dance part of the tradition. They put their foreheads together and held each other's waist, slowly walking in circle while glazing into the other's eyes. Blair couldn't believe she was here; dancing with her husband's head against hers and having the happiest moment of her life.
