《Junoesque ✿George Weasley✿》102.

Wowie this is my longest chapter to date :)
Harry faced Voldemort alone. He chose to take down the Dark Lord to avenge those he had succeeded in killing and those who had escaped from him by the skin of their teeth. He needed to avenge his parents, Cedric, Sirius, Dumbledore, Dobby and Snape. He needed to avenge all of those people that had been given the chance to live again thanks to Blair's potion. He needed to avenge Blair, Fred, Remus and Tonks. Voldemort deserved to die for all that he had done. And Harry needed to be the one to do it.
In the Great Hall, the Death Eaters were gradually beginning to fall. They had become careless and cocky, leading them to underestimate the young Hogwarts students. The Order were stronger than ever with Remus and Tonks alive and well; taking down Antonin Dolohov to repay the favour for trying to take away their newborn son's right to a loving upbringing. Not that Teddy would ever fall into the hands of an orphanage or an abusive aunt and uncle, but the privilege of having biological, loving parents was something they wanted for their son. And no slimy, Azkaban escapee Death Eater was going to take that away from him.
While Molly Weasley was seen turning Bellatrix Lestrange into dust, Blair had caught sight of the Death Eater she had been longing to face all night. The early morning was well into effect outside the castle's walls and she had lived, died and been revived all within the space of one nightfall. And within this time, she would kill too. She would kill the one who had tried to kill her only hours before.
The Death Eater's shiny bald head caught her eye through the duel between Professor Flitwick and three different opponents. Over the blue beam that flowed from Flitwick's wand was the Death Eater smiling wickedly at Professor Slughorn, who he was trying to turn into a statue with a powerful freezing spell. Blair felt a wave of anger take over her, the curse she was currently casting blasting her current opponent across the hall and sending him through one of the glass-stained windows. She then began walking over to the Death Eater who had disarmed Professor Slughorn and was about to initiate the killing curse.
The man stumbled to the side and loss concentration with his wand work; the green spell slithering pathetically out of his wand and falling to the floor where it seeped into the stone. He whipped his head around and saw Blair with her wand raised, the tip flaring from the previous spell and glared at him from metres away. The sheer sight of the girl he had left for dead angered him, as she should be a corpse who would never bother him again. But here she was, covered in dust, dirt and the blood that should have been drained from her pathetic, pointless body.
"Now that I have to kill you twice in one night, I'm pissed off," he growled and Professor Slughorn used the distraction to take a sip from one of his healing potions and hurry off to help the other Professors. He knew that the duel wasn't to be interfered with and left the witch to defeat the evil man.
Blair said nothing and immediately started sending hexes and jinxes out of her wand. She didn't bother to keep the words of her spells to herself and shamelessly called out every name as she cast her magic. This would usually disadvantage her as her opponent would be aware of the spell that was heading his way, but Blair was too quick for the Death Eater to comprehend. When he tried to block or counteract her spells, he already had another curse coming his way. She had somehow become more powerful and skilful since their last encounter.

"You fucking-" the man went to curse but was cut off by a sheen of purple, making him stumble backwards from the force of the spell.
Blair took this opportunity to step forward, sending her spells while advancing towards him slowly. The man was being backed against the wall and was beginning to tire, the events of the previous night and the current duel making his wand work sloppy. But Blair wasn't merciful, just as he wasn't to her. Those around them moved and let Blair corner him, disarming him and catching his wand to leave him helpless.
"Go on, then," he sneered, trying to hide the fear of meeting his end. "Do it."
"Don't worry, I will."
She sent the petrifying curse and watched as the Death Eater froze and fell backwards. He landed with a thud with his arms glued to his sides and his eyes open wide, seeing but unable to do anything about what was to come. Blair then sent a powerful Reductor curse; the flash of red hitting his body and causing it to crack. The cracks grew across his being and began to crumble like aged stone. Eventually, his skin turned grey and disintegrated into piles of rubble on the tiled floor. Only parts of his face and left leg were left in their original shape.
As if by a domino effect, Death Eaters fell and lost their duels to their opponents. At first, Blair thought that the Death Eater who was reduced to dust in front of her was somehow controlling the others like puppets; meaning when he died, they'd all follow. But then she realised that the noise that had been coming from the Entrance Hall, where Harry and Voldemort had been battling, had gone silent. The Great Hall had done the same, taking in the victory that was the death of the Dark Lord.
Lord Voldemort had been killed; with no Hocruxes scattered across the world and nothing in place to help him live again. He had died, like the mortal he refused to believe he was.
What followed was the collective sigh of relief and exhaustion. Everyone in the Great Hall began to find their friends and family to indulge in the feeling of peace at last. Blair stuck her wand into her shoe and stepped away from the piles of dust that was left of the Death Eater on the floor. She turned away and looked around the hall. From what she could see, no one had been killed that was on their side. Those who were injured were already being treated by Madam Pomfrey and Professor Slughorn, who had his own stash of pre-made healing potions.
Blair then caught sight of the fiery red hair she had been longing to see all night. George was standing with Molly and Ginny who were waiting for the rest of the Weasleys to gather and appreciate the fact that they were all alive. He had been looking around for not only his father and siblings, but for a glimpse of her as well. Blair waited giddily as his gaze finally landed on her and watched as his face changed completely.
Rather than the wide smile that she was expecting, his bottom lip parted and he stepped away from his family and in her direction. His eyes were hard and kept contact with hers as he started to walk across the length of the hall. He weaved through people who were embracing their families and checking others for injuries. It wasn't until he was within four metres of Blair that he finally let a smile slip on to his face.

Blair had never been in such a tight embrace. He swallowed her completely with his arms and crushed her against his chest. Her nose was buried into his coat, his hand cupping the back of her head and squeezing her waist. Blair could feel his heavy breaths against her ear causing strands of her hair to wisp behind her. For a moment, Blair thought George was leaning on her unconsciously. But she then realised that he was trying to gather her up, like a rope that was falling away continuously.
"What the hell is wrong you, Blair?" he whispered. "You and Fred were gone. You both were gone and... You were so cold and..."
Her heart ached at how desperate and strained his voice sounded. She couldn't imagine what George must have felt after seeing his twin brother dead before putting her dying body next to his. From the very start, George had someone by his side whether it was his older brothers, Fred, or his parents. Not that Blair would deal with losing someone she loved any better, but for George, it was something so alien it would break him apart. She hadn't meant to play with his feelings by dying and then coming back right before his eyes. The feeling of his quiet tears on top of her head made her feel awful for ever thinking he would be able to live without her.
"I'm sorry..." she mumbled, blinking away her tears. "I know I've said it so many times before. But I am."
"You alright, Georgie?" a new voice was heard. Without pulling away, Blair and George looked and saw Fred standing next to them. He had his hands in his pockets and for one of the first times ever, he looked awkward and nervous to be interrupting such a moment. Pressing his lips tightly together, his eyes switched to and from Blair and his brother with a longing look in his eyes. He wanted to be hugged too.
"Come here, you ugly git," George grabbed Fred's coat and yanked him over. Wrapping one arm around his shoulders, he gripped Blair tightly against him while bringing Fred into the embrace. Fred grinned and wrapped an arm around Blair also, pressing his temple against George's. Just like before, the three hugged each other tightly as the team they once were were together at last.
---
Blair was overwhelmed by the amount of gratitude she received. People swarmed around her and thanked her profusely for bringing them back to life. Everyone said they couldn't remember what had happened between the time they died and the time they woke up, but they didn't care. They were alive and it was all because of Blair.
"Blair!" she turned around and was hit by a flash of dark brown hair. Arms squeezed her for the hundredth time today and she stumbled to regain her balance.
"P-Poppy," she stated and saw Nancy and Mina step out from behind the Muggleborn, smiling brightly at their friend. "H-How are you guys?"
"Us?! What about you?! Didn't you die?!" Mina cried, pulling Poppy off of her to give her some space.
Blair was able to let out a couple of words in explanation before she was able to slip away from the three. She vowed to find them after to talk to them like they had done in previous meetups at their Muggle cafe. They were reluctant to leave, but saw how exhausted Blair was. The three girls headed off and Blair thought that she'd finally have moment to sit down, only to be embraced once more by a Metamorphagus with orange hair.
"You truly are a bright witch," Remus smiled warmly down at her, peaking over his wife's shoulder. Tonks had to be pried off of Blair while weeping about giving Teddy another chance at having them in his life.
"Thank you, Professor," Blair nodded at him humbly.
"Please, I'm not a Professor anymore. Remus will do."
"T-Thank you, Blair," Tonks sniffled, clutching Remus' suit coat instead. "We're forever grateful."
Once the two walked away to find Harry to talk about his duty as godfather for Teddy, Blair looked around wearily. She sighed when she saw that no one was making their way over to her to smother her with gratitude and hugs for saving their lives. Slipping out of the Great Hall, she made her way out into the Entrance Hall where Kingsley was rounding up the last few Death Eaters to be sent to Azkaban. With the old Minister for Magic gone with his snatchers, Kingsley was said to be taking over. No one objected to this as the man had been in the Ministry for years prior and always held an authoritative position no matter where he was.
Blair headed towards the side of the clearing and climbed up some of the fallen stone that had once been part of the archways. Looking out on to the hills and crevice that sat beyond the castle, Blair sat down in the dismantled window pane with a loud sigh and let her feet dangle in mid air. It was quiet and the sun was high in the sky, making her assume it was near midday. The battle had gone on for over twelve hours and Blair was exhausted. It had been the most eventful night of her entire life. It was nice to finally have a moment to herself where she didn't feel like she was being hunted or watched.
Hearing footsteps behind her, Blair turned to look over shoulder to see George standing there. She sent him a small smile before turning back to the view in front of her, hearing him climb the same pile of rubble and sit down in the space beside her. Enough of the windowpane had been blown away to leave a jagged bench for the both of them to sit side by side. The two looked out onto the hills and heard the faint voices of Harry, Ron and Hermione on the bridge nearby.
"What's the plan now? With the potion, I mean," George decided to ask. "You know people will be asking for it, right?"
"I'm actually thinking of destroying any remnants of it," she said and he turned his gaze to her with his eyebrows raised.
"Why would you do that? It's brilliant, Blair. You brought everyone back from the dead!"
"But it means that anyone could bring someone back from the dead," she fought back. "If I had made more than I needed, someone could've brought Voldemort back. It's dangerous to have such a recipe lying around. My father was evil for a reason, you know."
"But... you're not evil. Far from it," he grabbed her hand and held it tightly, staring at her intently with his eyebrows knitted together. "You and Fred wouldn't even be here if you hadn't made it. A lot of us wouldn't be here."
"I'm grateful that I did have the power to do it. But just because I can, doesn't I should."
George pursed his lips and thought about Blair's words. It sounded logical, but he didn't want to agree with it. He had lost the two greatest things he cared about for good and at one point, he didn't think he could go on without them. But they were alive when they shouldn't be. It was hard to see any reason why it was bad to have the ability to bring the dead back. But Blair did have a point. There would always be people in the Wizarding world who were evil and just as barmy at Voldemort. It would be near impossible to keep quite literally a life-changing potion in the hands of the good. It was bound to be abused by those who weren't.
"Alright," he sighed. "It's your potion. How are you going to do it?"
After summoning the green book of her father's into her hands, she pulled out her wand and held it against the open pages. Casting the Incendio charm, the book was lit up in flames and began to crackle as it burned. The parchment blacked and she threw it out into the depths that surrounded Hogwarts, letting it plummet to a place where it could never be found or revived again.
"That felt good," she hummed. George let out a scoff but swallowed it when she turned to him, giving him a 'what are you laughing at?' look. He took her hand into his again and made sure to run his thumb over the ring that had somehow stayed glittering and shining on her finger throughout life and death.
"So... the wedding..."
