At the end of the practice lesson, McGonagall said that one of their lessons a week was going to be replaced with a lesson for dancing. This had mixed reactions but the Professor didn't want to hear any complaining. She was set on having Hogwarts be an equal player among Durmstrang and Beauxbatons.
"You coming, Georgie?" Lee questioned as him and Fred started heading for their next class.
"Yeah, I'm just gonna wait for Blair," he answered and they shrugged, walking off and leaving the boy waiting in the corridor.
Blair stalled her time at leaving the Great Hall as she could see that George was waiting for her outside. Throughout the whole lesson, he didn't make one move away from Alicia. Blair had swapped partners three times and had even danced with Seamus Finnigan. Never would she have thought in her life that she would be dancing with Seamus Finnigan. She remembered overhearing him in her third year of the boy voicing his opinion of being at school with so many children of known Death Eaters. Since then, she had steered clear of the outgoing and who she thought was an arrogant boy.
But because of George's neglect, she had danced with Harry, Ron, Terry Boot and Seamus. And every time she went to change, she'd look up towards George in hopes of seeing him walking over to her and asking for a dance. But every time, he'd be laughing joyfully with Alicia Spinnet. To say she was hurt was an understatement.
Holding her head high, Blair walked out of the Great Hall and immediately started heading towards Professor Dumbledore's office. George assumed that she hadn't seen him and hurried after her, not yet noticing her blank expression and fury-filled eyes.
"What a lesson, huh?" George laughed. "Did you get the steps right? I still haven't."
"Yep, I've got 'em," she replied in a monotone voice and sped up her walking pace. George noticed her tone and how much Blair seemed like she was trying to get away from him.
"W-Where are you going? Moody's class is that way," he said as he stopped and pointed down the corridor to their right.
"I'm not going to Moody's," she answered.
"So you're ditching? I'll come," George stated and Blair resisted the urge to roll her eyes.
"No, I'm not ditching. I don't have Moody as a teacher anymore," she called back and was ready to be done with the conversation. All she could picture was George's laughing face with Alicia dancing for an hour while she had to endure having her feet stepped on multiple times by Ron and Seamus.
"What do you mean you don't have Moody anymore?" George stopped walking completely and stared at the back of Blair's head as she continued. "What the hell's with you, Blair?"
This tugged at Blair's final string of patience and she stopped in her spot and reared around on her heels. She stared at George from across the empty corridor and hoped that the deep glare on her face was enough for him to get what she was hinting towards. But George being George and not having telepathic powers, he was now confused and concerned on why she had suddenly become so distant and unfriendly.

"Do you like me, George?"
His eyes widened and if he had still been walking, he'd have tripped over his own feet and hit the floor. But he could only stare back at her with his lips parted in attempts to say something back. But he stayed silent as she glared back at him, not knowing that she was yearning for him to say yes and understand why she was so upset with him.
"W-What?" was all he could say.
"Do you like me? At all? In any way possible?" she made sure to not stutter and stared straight into his eyes to show she meant business. "Or are you just here for a laugh?"
"I-I wouldn't be here talking to you if I didn't," George laughed humourlessly and was now irritated with Blair's sudden questions and lack of answers. "What the hell did I do?"
"You really don't know? Not even an inkling?" Blair put every last bit of her hope into her last words and deflated when she saw George still with his eyebrows pinched together and his lips parted in confusion, she nearly screamed in frustration.
"I-I-"
Blair sighed loudly and turned around, walking off down the corridor and disappearing around the corner. George was at a lost as she walked away and had no choice but to start heading off to Professor Moody's class. Not only was he clueless on why Blair was so upset with him, but he now had to go to class late and sit by himself for an hour.
Blair stomped her way to Professor Dumbledore's office and gave the password to the gargoyle that he had given her in their previous meeting. She tried to push down all the anger and irritation she had built up towards George. She didn't want to embarrass herself in front of the Headmaster because of her lack of concentration and confidence. She knew she was good at Defence Against the Dark Arts and some boy wasn't going to ruin that.
"Ah Miss Rosier," Professor Dumbledore greeted from his chair, but stopped when he saw her face. "Are you alright? You look troubled."
"I'm fine, sir," she ensured and cursed herself for displaying her irritation on her face.
"Could it perhaps be boy trouble?"
Her eyes widened and all her power to keep her emotions at bay faded at once. The man looked at her with a light smile on his face and she thought for a moment that he was using Occlumency on her. But she didn't feel the small itch that is said to be felt when having your mind read and she was embarrassed to have the Professor somehow know of her troubles.
"Forgive me for being intruding," he said as he stood from his chair and kept his kind smile as he walked over to stand in front of his table. "I just couldn't help myself from hearing the gossip between Professor Sprout and Professor Sinistra. They say that you and Mr Weasley are quite the pair."
"O-Oh no, sir. We're not a couple," she shook her head vigorously and felt even more embarrassed to feel her cheeks grow warm. "I think we're friends but... he's being an idiot. I-If you'll excuse my language."

"Not to worry, Miss Rosier. I know all boys are said to be idiots. I quite agree myself," the man laughed lightly. "If you've been teaching for as long as I have, you'll know that the boys who go through Hogwarts never really learn to be professional. But I pride myself on having such a carefree school. I like to rub it into Madam Maxine's face quite a bit, I must say."
Blair found herself smiling at Dumbledore's small laugh and mention of the Beauxbatons Headmistress. She didn't know that two of her Professors had noticed the close relationship between her and George and it made her assume that almost all of her Professors knew of it. She was embarrassed, but she was also amused that Professor Dumbledore had eavesdropped on gossip among his teachers. It made her temporarily forget how angry she was.
"But I do hope you are alright. Whether he'll come to his senses now or later, I'm sure Mr Weasley will ask you to dance with him eventually," Dumbledore finished and Blair's eyes widened once more.
"How did you know..." she trailed off as he put his finger to the side of his nose with a cheeky look on his face.
"Shall we begin your lesson?"
---
The Great Hall was silent with the sound of quills on parchment as students were immersed into their study period. Blair was hesitant to sit at the Gryffindor table as she and George hadn't talked since their moment in the corridor, but was waved over quickly by Ginny who had spotted her. Blair kept her head titled downwards and slid into the space next to her, seeing Angelina was on her other side with Alicia Spinnet next to her. She was able to smile at Angelina but didn't look at Alicia as she was still bitter about the situation.
She had noticed that George was sitting with Fred only seats away but on the opposite side of the table. She didn't look in his direction but sensed his burning stare. She pulled out her exercise book and immediately started to write out her Arithmancy notes for her next class.
A small discussion could be heard between Harry, Ron and Hermione who sat further up the table. Blair caught parts of the conversation until Ginny spoke up next to her, forcing her to tear her attention away and focus on the ginger instead.
"I heard about the Yule Ball. Has George asked you yet?" she whispered and Blair swallowed and resulted to shaking her head instead of verbally answering.
"Why? Has someone else asked you instead?" she questioned again and Blair shook her head once more. Ginny was moments away from opening her mouth again when a parchment ball suddenly flew in their direction. Both her and Blair turned their heads and saw that the parchment had hit Angelina in the shoulder, making the girl turn and see that Fred was motioning to her across the table. Blair unfortunately caught eyes with George and grimaced at the look in his eyes that said he was itching to talk to her, causing her to look away and focus on his brother's dramatic hand show that he was performing to Angelina.
"Do you-" he pointed to Angelina while whispering. "-want to go to the ball-" he imitated waltzing. "-with me?"
"The ball?" Angelina repeated back in a whisper, before nodding with a bashful smile. "Yeah, alright."
Fred turned back to Ron in front of him and winked smugly, turning back to his exercise book that was mostly filled with doodles of product ideas. Blair cracked a smile when Angelina turned to her with an excited grin, only to drop the pathetic excuse for a smile when she turned and met George's eyes again. He quickly turned down to his exercise book and began scribbling furiously, glancing up every so often to ensure she was still looking at him.
She watched confused as he tore the page out of his exercise book before looking wearingly up to Professor Snape who was patrolling the rows behind her. He then slipped the page across the table and Blair picked it up, reading the messy hand writing.
Can we talk plz?
Blair tried so hard to not roll her eyes for the hundredth time today and flipped over the page, scribbling back her response. George watched anxiously as he tried to lean over and see what she was writing. He hurriedly snatched the sheet of parchment off the table once she slipped it over to him and read the neat hand writing that put his to shame.
If you'll stop being an idiot, then yes.
He looked back up to her and Blair nearly screamed aloud. He still looked clueless and confused, making her lose any intention to talk to him civilly. George saw her piercing glare and panicked when he saw her shake her head and turn back to her book, continuing her studying. He scrunched up the page in his hand and started writing on a fresh one, hurriedly scribbling and throwing it across the table so that it hit her in the head. He winced and physically flinched when she whipped her head up to glare fiercely at him.
Despite her increased anger, she snatched the new parchment up and read his writing once more.
I'm willing to listen to you call me an idiot for as long as you like. Just plz talk to me.
And for good measure, he had drawn his classic doodle of her cat Jasper. Fighting every fibre in her body to not coo and smile at the drawing, she looked back up at George who was staring at her hopefully. She settled on a nod and George's shoulders sagged in relief, grateful for the understanding and reminded himself to always draw a Jasper doodle whenever in doubt.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
