《Yellow || Fred Weasley》19 || a rogue bludger

A week later, all the talk about the writing on the wall, and Mrs. Norris, died down and it was replaced with the excitement of the upcoming Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Slytherin. The Quidditch teams of each house, however, were excited for a specific reason - the new Nimbus 2001s that the Slytherins were supposedly using.
"It's still rubbish that Malfoy got on just because of that," Kaleb commented as he, Gaia, and two other 4th years climbed up the stands to get to Joanne and the others, who were saving seats for the whole team, as usual.
"Yeah, no doubt. But it's still amazing. A Nimbus 2001," Michael said, a mixture of irritation and awe in his voice.
"Bet we could still take them, though," Roger Davies, a 4th year Ravenclaw, commented with a smirk.
Since Jasmine Krost had graduated last year, Roger took her place as Ravenclaw's third chaser. Gaia, personally, had been hesitant since he'd made quite a reputation for himself (spoiler – it was a bad reputation). She voiced her concerns to her teammates and discovered that they shared the same concerns but decided to give him a chance. Luckily, he turned out quite alright and fit in well with the team. He'd be cocky at times, but he was mostly kidding.
"Bet you're right," Gaia shot back with a grin.
"Took you 4 long enough," Hailey teased as they sat down on the seats they reserved for the youngest members.
"Gaia was taking too long making herself pretty for Weasley," Roger answered, making Gaia slap his arm.
"Was not!" Gaia shot back, her hair turning a light pink.
"Right" Roger drawled out with a teasing grin, dodging her hand when she went to hit him a second time.
Another thing Gaia was concerned about regarding Roger, was how perceptive he could actually be when he wanted to. Of course, the whole Quidditch team had an inkling about Gaia's feelings about the redheaded Gryffindor, but no one ever told Roger. (Joke's on Gaia, nearly the whole Ravenclaw house could see how much she crushed on her best friend).
"That's enough, you two," Joanne said with a grin, "The game's starting"
The pitch was filled with cheers and boos (Slytherin) as the Gryffindor team walked out to the pitch. Completely forgetting about the little exchange earlier between her and Roger, Gaia leaned against the railing and cheered loudly. The two captains shook hands, and there were a few seconds before Madam Hooch blew her whistle. The players all mounted their brooms and rose up to the air.
"And we're off! Slytherin Chaser Malia Frias is in possession of the quaffle. Gryffindor Chaser Angelina Johnson goes in for a steal, Frias passes to Slytherin Chaser Marcus Flint - oh, look at that! Slytherin Seeker Draco Malfoy speeds on his brand new Nimbus 2001. Beautiful model!-" Lee said excitedly. Professor McGonagall seemed to say something to him, cutting him off from ranting about the new broom model, "Right. Close one! A bludger almost hits the Gryffindor seeker - Slytherin scores!"
On the other side of the pitch, George, Gaia quite sure it was him since she could see Fred hovering near Angelina, sped past Harry and knocked the bludger towards Adrian Pucey. Gaia narrowed her eyes when she noticed the bludger took a sharp turn and immediately made its way back to Harry.

"Did you see that?" Gaia said to Hailey as she tugged on her arm.
"See what?" Hailey asked.
"The bludger." Gaia pointed out.
Harry dropped to dodge the bludger and George hit it away once again, this time towards Draco. But just like last time, the bludger did a complete turn and sped back to Harry. Instead of dodging this time, Harry shot off to try and lose the bludger. Surprisingly, the bludger followed his exact trail.
"That's weird. Bludgers don't do that. Do they?" Michael commented when he noticed as well, a hint of doubt in his voice.
"No, they don't," Hailey answered, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
George was still staring at Harry in, what Gaia could assume, was bewilderment on the field, confused as well by the bludger's actions. Fred streaked to the other end of the pitch and waited for Harry and the bludger to reach him. Harry ducked and the bludger went straight to Fred, who hit it with all his might.
"That's it, Freddie!" Gaia cheered, a huge smile stretching on her face.
The ginger looked up slightly at the noise and grinned wider when he saw the Ravenclaw on the stands. He was about to answer but the smile on her face disappeared making him look back at the field. Harry was speeding off once again with the bludger hot on his tail. It was raining by then as Harry continued to go around the quidditch pitch.
"Why's it doing that?" Roger asked, the rest of Gaia's teammates finally noticing the current predicament with the bludger.
"That's 60-0 to Slytherin!" Lee's voice cut through Gaia's concentration.
"Sixty? To zero?" Gaia asked incredulously as she shifted her focus to the chasers.
"Johnson's been stopped from scoring by a bludger at least 7 times now," Kaleb informed her, but he was still following Harry with his line of sight.
Now Fred and George were surrounding Harry, hitting away the rogue bludger that seemed to keep on targeting Harry specifically. After trying, and failing, to get the bludger to change course multiple times, George started signaling towards Oliver Wood to call a time out. Madam Hooch blew her whistle and all the players dived for the ground. Harry, Fred, and George were still trying to lose the bludger on their way down. The Gryffindor team huddled together on the ground.
"Bludgers are supposed to be going for everyone, not one specific player," Hailey said as she leaned back.
"Reckon someone's bewitched it?" Lucas asked.
"Bet it's the Slytherins," Michael added.
"Let's not point fingers," Joanne said sharply, before glancing down at the two teams below, "But I wouldn't be surprised if they did."
"I don't think anyone would be." Hailey nodded.
Madam Hooch started walking toward the Gryffindor team while the Slytherin team kept looking back and pointing at Harry. Fred and George seemed to be frustrated with Oliver judging from what Gaia could see from her position. When Madam Hooch reached them, it only took a few seconds before the game was on again.
"Are they serious? They're not even going to try and investigate the bludger?" Gaia gaped.
"No one else has really noticed it. The other quidditch teams maybe but no one else has, not even Jordan," Kaleb answered.
As if it couldn't get any worse, it was raining heavier now, making it a bit harder to play for the players. Harry shot up when Madam Hooch blew her whistle, the bludger trailing after him. To Gaia's surprise, however, Fred and George were no longer following Harry.

"Why'd they leave Harry?" Michel questioned.
"Well they just focus on one bludger. There's still another one that's actually doing its job. Y'know, knocking off other players," Hailey answered.
"Besides, Harry won't be able to spot the snitch with those two hovering over him," Joanne added.
Gaia flinched when she noticed the bludger get too close to Harry's head. She couldn't even find it in herself to look away anymore and watch the actual game play out – it were as if she had blocked out everything except for Harry, including the commentary. Harry twirled to avoid the bludger before pausing for a second and staring at Malfoy.
"Idiot! Don't stop, the bludger will get you!" Gaia shouted, although he was too far to hear.
True enough, the bludger came back towards Harry and hit his elbow. He slid sideways on his broom, the arm that was hit dangling uselessly beside him. Despite the fact that only one of his arms were working, he sped towards Malfoy who turned to get out of Harry's way. His arm was outstretched and he closed his hand on something in the air. He made his way down, only his leg preventing him from falling off his broom.
It was then that Madam Hooch blew her whistle and declared Gryffindor as the winners.
Gaia shot up from my seat and called out to George who was only a few meters away from their position.
"George!"
The redhead in question looked towards Gaia at the sound of her voice.
"Give me a lift?" Gaia asked, motioning to Harry who seemed to have fainted in the middle of the field.
George nodded and flew towards her, staying close to the railings as she jumped over it and onto his broom. He flew them down to the pitch and Gaia immediately knelt down beside Harry, ignoring the mud that was probably staining her clothes at the moment. She pulled his head to her lap, wincing when she got a closer look at his arm. Definitely broken, she thought.
A crowd of Gryffindors was now gathering around the two, just as Harry was coming around again. The crowd started parting as the Lockhart pushed his way through them. He kneeled across from Gaia and examined his broken arm.
"Oh no, not you," Harry groaned when he registered that Lockhart was kneeling beside him. He turned his head to Gaia and gave her a mix of a smile and a grimace.
"Doesn't know what he's saying! Not to worry, Harry. I'm about to fix your arm," Lockhart said. When he made a move to grab Harry's broken arm, Gaia pulled Harry closer to her and glared at the professor.
"No offense, professor, but I'd prefer to let Madam Pomfrey look at this than you. I have a lot more faith in my abilities to fix this than yours, and that's saying something," Gaia said with an edge to her voice. Harry moved as if to sit up but was stopped by Gaia, "Don't be stupid. You won't be able to sit up with that."
"Not to worry, it'll only be a simple charm. I've used it countless times," the professor assured.
"Why can't I just go to the hospital wing?" Harry asked as he gritted his teeth together.
"He really should, Professor," Wood said as he came through the crowd of Gryffindors, grinning madly.
Now, if Gaia wasn't so focused on glaring at Lockhart - who didn't seem to get the message - she would've slapped that annoying grin off his face.
"Great capture, Harry. Spectacular! Your best yet, I'd say," he ranted on, but Gaia was focused on Harry who was staring at something off to the side.
She followed his gaze and saw Fred and George still wrestling the rogue bludger into a box. It seemed like it was still trying to escape their arms and shoot towards Harry. She narrowed her eyes at the bludger and made a mental note to bring it up with Madam Hooch later if the twins hadn't yet.
"Stand back," Professor Lockhart said, rolling up his sleeves and brandishing his wand.
"No!-" Gaia started but it was lost as he directed his wand at Harry's arm. She made a sound of disbelief when Harry's arm just fell completely motionless. "What did you do!?" Gaia screeched, glaring more heatedly at the professor.
He laughed sheepishly, "Yes. Well, that can happen sometimes. But the point is, the bones-"
"What bones!? You mean the ones you magic-ed away?" Gaia snapped at him.
Hermione and Ron came up behind her and took Harry, saying that they would take him to the hospital wing. Gaia let them do so and stood up to face the professor whose eyes shifted from her hair then to her eyes.
"What did you think was going to happen? Brackium Emendo - I've never even heard the spell! Mind you, my mother's a medi-witch. For a teacher, you're explicitly idiotic-" Gaia started saying, advancing towards Lockhart who stepped backwards.
"Miss Eruditus, please step back! That is assault on a teacher-"
"What he did was an assault on a student!" Gaia said, turning to Professor McGonagall who held the Ravenclaw's red glare with her own stern gaze.
"I understand and I am quite livid with what happened as well. However, Professor Lockhart is still your teacher and I cannot let this pass. Might I remind you, you are threatening a teacher," she said.
"Who cares!? He doesn't act like a teacher anyway-"
A pair of arms came around Gaia's waist and pulled her away from the two professors, another pair taking her wand - which she didn't realize she had taken out.
"Easy, there," Fred's familiar voice said from behind her.
"Wrestling you away while you're mad is worse than wrestling a rogue bludger into a box," George joked as he held Gaia's wand in his hand.
Gaia turned to glare one more time at Lockhart and saw that he was nowhere to be seen. McGonagall still stood in front of her, her expression showing that she wanted to go after Lockhart and give him a piece of his mind.
"20 points from Ravenclaw for pulling your wand on a teacher. I will inform Professor Flitwick of this and let him decide whether to give you detention or not." the witch stated before turning to go in the same direction Lockhart went.
