You were walking through the hallways of St Mungo's while your sister was getting into labor , the nurses said that it could take another two hours until she was actually giving birth, and since you couldn't stand to be in that room any longer you decided to walk around a bit.
You turned another corner , greeted a nurse and a doctor and walked into an hallway you had never been before, that's where you saw him.
A boy you had seen before , you couldn't quite get where though, the only thing you knew is that he looked very sad and that you wanted to help him.
So you walked over to the bench he was sitting on and dropped down next to him.
He looked up with puffy eyes and gave you a small nod.
You suddenly remembered where you knew him from!
Neville Longbottom a boy in your year , he was a shy Gryffindor and you were a outgoing Ravenclaw.
"You're Neville right?"
He looked up and slowly nodded again.
"I'm Y/N"
"I know who you are , I mean who doesn't actually I'm quite surprised you know who I am" he replied with a soft voice.
"Of course I know who you are, but if I may ask why are you here?"
You saw him stiffen a bit and quickly added "you don't have to answer if you don't want to though"
He sighs "No it's okay , uhm my parents are in here and I came to visit but when I walked into the room I got flustered for a second you know? I just got so many feelings at once I had to step out of the room, how about you?"
"Uhm my big sister is having a baby"
He chuckled "shouldn't you be with her instead?"

"Well the nurses said it could take another two hours before she would really give birth and between you and me I've seen her give birth in a muggle hospital because my mom insisted and it was really gross so I wouldn't mind to miss it"
He looked at you and smiled , a genuine smile and he thought to himself that it was honestly the first time in years he had smiled a genuine smile.
"Neville I know its probably hard to talk about but why are your parents in here? And can I help you with anything? I know we don't know each other very well but I'm here if you need me"
He smiled again "my parent are in here because uhm t-they were tortured when they were fighting against The one who shall not be named and uhm it's very kind of you thank you"
You looked at him , he looked at you, you noticed he was a bit less sad and that was your main goal.
And all of a sudden he hugged you , whilst saying I really appreciate it multiple times.
It was the saddest yet cutest thing ever.
"You know Neville it isn't a problem at all, and maybe We can hang out some time?"
He smiled again , very bright this time.
"Yes! I would love to"
You stood up "well then it's a date , I should probably head back now"
"Alright wish your sister luck from me and I'll see you at school"
As you wandered off all he could think of is that he was already falling for you.

Part 2 has been temporarily delayed due to me getting a frozen shoulder in the middle of June, which has been very slow to properly clear up. It is getting better, though, but Shoulder/neck is the worst set of muscles to have issues with ;( You can currently pick up most story threads after the rewritten chapters, starting from chapter 13-14 (old) Genre-wise, this is a bit hard to pin down. It's technically a Xianxia (because cultivators!), but it also veers towards Xuanhuan and has more traditional High Fantasy elements and a bit of Gods and Monsters and All Myths Are (on some levels) Valid. It also has a fairly large, ensemble cast, so if multiple point's of view are not your thing I am sorry. It won't ever really be considered 'grimdark' by any real measure of that definition but it does go to some complicated and fairly places dark occasionally, which I will note in author pre-chapter notes when expedient!. About the Author I mainly write fiction for my own hobby, it makes a nice change from academic scribbling! I started writing this quite a number of years ago. It has grown somewhat organically out of a bunch of different interests in all kinds of Mythology, World Building, Drawing Maps, Archaeology, Anthropology, History and Epic Fantasy fiction into what it is today.
