《Their Human》Chapter thirty: shifting

When I woke up again, I woke up to loud and angry shouting. The sound was enough to give me a small headache. Sitting up on the soft surface I was laying on, I pressed my shaking hand on my forehead.

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO HER, MOTHER!?"

I grimaced as Silas' voice boomed throughout the whole mansion. I had no doubt that everyone could hear him at that moment but I was too tired to even care.

This place is too intense for my human self.

I stood up from the bed, finding myself in a pair of loose shorts and a hoodie. I slowly walked to the door and out of the twins' room, stopping in my tracks when I saw the two men hovering over their mother. Sei was staring at his mother with hate in his eyes, his arms crossed tightly. Silas' eyes were a dark shade of red as he screamed at her, his hands balled up into fists.

"SHE SLEPT WITH GOLIATH!" Their mother screamed back, making me stare at her in shock. I was about to make my presence known when Silas defended me.

"BULL! SHE WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO US. SHE LOVES US!"

"SHE DOESN'T! GOLIATH LEFT ME AT NIGHT TO SLEEP WITH HER!"

"STOP LYING!" Silas snarled lividly. He looked like he was about to explode out of rage.

Sofia clenched her teeth and looked away from her son, facing me. Her own eyes darkened at the sight of me, making me shudder lightly. I could still feel my back aching because of her. I thought I had enough worrying to do about Alexander but it seems like I'm a target to her as well.

Sei looked at me too, his hard gaze softening when his eyes met mine. He made his way to me, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me to his chest.

"Just leave us, mother." I heard Silas say tiredly. I closed my eyes when I heard the strain in his voice as he spoke. He was clearly worried sick about me. I wish I could do something to take his worry away.

"Twins..." Sofia said softly. "There's a meeting in the evening."

"We don't care about it." Silas growled, stomping away from his mother and towards me.

"No, no, no. You have to go. It's not up for discussion. If you want to be kings..."

"Does it look like we care about being kings right now? Our soulmate has been injured by our own mother because she thought that she was sleeping with our father. On top of all, a bloody vampire bit her! I have much more important things to do." Silas said. I flinched at the mentioning of being bitten by a vampire and Sei felt it. He looked down at me, his eyes darkening. I quickly looked away, biting my lip as I thought of an excuse.

"Do not even think of lying to Sei." He whispered harshly. I nodded quickly, burying my face on his shirt. I really needed to think of something to tell them. Goliath made it clear that I needed to lie for their own sake.

"Silas, this meeting is far too important to ignore. All of the leaders will be there to see if you are worthy to recieve the throne. By the end of today, only five of you will be candidates for the position. If you don't show up, you'll be removed by default."

"We don't care."

"At least one of you must show up! Please my sons, I'm begging you. Don't let this girl stop you from reaching your dreams. Don't let her stop you from ruling over the island." She pleaded with them. I looked back at her, finding her on her knees with her hands clasped together.

Silas pursed his lips together as he stared down at his mother. With a sigh of defeat, he nodded, agreeing to go. Sofia smiled and quickly stood up, reaching to hug Silas but he held his hand out and shook his head. "Just leave." He hissed, walking away from her.

Sofia's smile fell and her eyes watered but she held the tears back. With one last glare to me, she sped down the hall with inhumane speed and disappeared before I could even blink.

Sei slid his arms around my waist and under my thighs, picking me up. "I can walk, you know." I told him softly. He nodded, placing me on top of the bed. "Sei likes picking you up."

Silas shut the door and leaned against it, his eyes tightly closed shut. With a sigh of frustration, he walked to the bed and sat down next to me, looking at me worriedly.

"Akielia, you would tell us anything right?" He asked tiredly. He looked like he hadn't slept for days, both of them did. I nodded slowly, knowing that this had something to do with the bite mark on my thigh.

"We don't want to resort to mind reading. We want you to be open and honest with us as your soulmates." He told me. I nodded again, fiddling with the hem of the black shorts.

"Our mother thinks that our father slept with you. Is that true?"

I snapped my eyes up, looking at him in shock. "Of course not!" I said defensively. Silas frowned at me, "I'm not accusing you. I'm just asking..."

"How could you even ask me something like that? You should know that I would never do that to you guys." I said, standing up from the bed. I couldn't believe that they actually thought that I would do something of that sort.

"We just want to make sure. She said you spent the night in his bedroom and was wearing his shirt with only lingerie underneath. Why would you leave us to go to him?" Silas asked me calmly. I closed my eyes, feeling tears welling up in them.

"He was protecting me." I said softly, keeping my eyes closed to trap the tears. I placed my hands over my eyes, waiting for them to ask me the next question.

"From what?" Sei asked.

"I was thirsty and got lost on my way to the kitchen. I ended up passing out in front of his room and he helped me."

There was silence for a couple of minutes. I knew that the twins were speaking to each other about it through mind link. My story did not add up. It didn't make any sense how I would end up in Goliath's room. The kitchen was far from there and they know that I knew that.

Sei sighed, "why are you protecting him?"

"I'm not protecting Goliath. He helped me." I told them, slightly opening my eyes. The tears flowed down my cheeks, making my lips tremble. I stood there, hands over my face, crying silently.

"I want to go home." I whispered.

"Sei, please just... Just handle it." Silas said weakly.

"How far back must I go?"

"Since she first came. We need to know the full story since she's clearly lying to us."

I lifted my hands from my face and stared at them. Sei stood up and walked to me, placing his warm hands on my face. "This will hurt your head for a moment. We need to look at your memories." Silas told me. I was about to retort when Sei's eyes turned light green. I looked at him in surprise and just like that, my vision went white.

The white slowly faded, bringing me back to when I was walking with Sei and Silas.

"It's not that at all... He doesn't know English. He's still taking lessons." Silas said, his voice sounding like an echo. It was during the time I found out that Sei didn't speak English.

As if I was watching a movie, my memories fast forwarded, leading me to the place that I dreaded most.

"Come on now, I don't bite." Alexander appeared, licking his fangs. I found myself in the library, just a few minutes before he told me the history of Eclipsia Lunaria.

He faded away, my memories once again playing at the speed of lightning. Was this what it felt like when your life flashed before your eyes?

"If you think of uttering a small word about our little arrangement, I'll kill you and them. I'm your future king, you will obey me. Are we clear?"

"You're late." Alexander snarled.

"You must stay still, or this will hurt more than it needs to."

I could hear my pained screams when Alexander bit me, the dreadful memory disappearing as fast as it had came.

If you love them as much as I think you do, you'll keep quiet and let them win this. They deserve that crown.

That was the last thing I heard when my vision turned white again. I opened my eyes, finding myself back into the twins' bedroom with Sei still holding my face. That's it, the secret was out now. He stood still, his eyes closed shut as his body shook violently.

Silas stared at his twin and stood up, "well? Who was it?"

Sei's eyes opened, making me scream when I saw them pitch black. Every part of them. Silas noticed and pulled me away from him, "Sei! Don't you dare!"

Sei opened his mouth, an animalistic growl escaping from his throat. I've never heard anything more scarier. His pale skin started turning blue like his hair and I screamed when I heard the gruesome sounds of his bones snapping.

"What's happening to him!?" I asked loudly. Silas didn't answer me, still busy with trying to stop Sei.

And just like that, Sei was gone and the beast that I saw back at the lab stood in front of me on its four paws. The only difference was,

It's eyes were black.
