Sarah's dead

Quick steps with no stop...

Sarah's dead

Ignoring anyone who spoke to me or called my name...

She's dead, human

Heading to one place only, to get the answers to my many questions...

She's dead...

I scanned my card and stepped inside the laboratory, making my way to my desk. I had gotten discharged from the hospital and had gotten away with lying to the police, thanks to Sei. The sun was setting, the sky a mix of purple and orange. I could not see the sunset from my lab because it had no windows but I had seen it as I drove to the building.

I couldn't ignore this anymore, I had to ask Sei what was going on.

That's if he was still even here, he did say that he was planning to escape today.

I picked up the grey remote and pressed the two buttons, lifting up both the walls. I wanted him to explain himself, with no glass wall separating us. I wanted to hear everything coming from his mouth.

The walls slowly slid up and down, this time it felt like they were taking forever to do so. I caught a small glimpse of his feet on the cold floor and sighed in relief. Good, he hasn't tried anything yet.

"Sei." I called him, wanting to get his attention. His wide back was facing me as he put on a blue hoodie. I looked at his hair, it was a dark yinmin blue, which meant that he would be more aggressive with me. That also meant that he would talk straight and understand my words, so that was good. He hummed in response, fixing his shirt.

He was in a pair of grey sweatpants and was wearing white sneakers.

"What happened to Sarah?" I asked first. I needed to know that more than anything. I had no idea what happened with the government troops and ten scientists. Perhaps they had failed to catch that beast considering that it chased us.

What was that thing?

"She drowned." He answered, turning to look at me. He wasn't chained up but he didn't attempt to do anything to me. He had the perfect chance to escape, I just hope he knew that I wouldn't let him go without a fight.

"How do you know this?" I asked him, recieving a ghost of a smile from him. It made me feel uneasy.

"I saw her." He simply answered.

"Who is Silas?" I asked him. I've been hearing that name a lot and I still had no idea who it was. This time, he smirked and me and shook his head. "Next question."

I'll get back to it afterwards.

He sat down on his bed and motioned at me to come closer, making me step inside his area. I stood in front of him and asked my next question.

"I'm confused about a lot of things. About the police, about you changing colour everyday, about that beast in the woods. I don't know where to start." I told him, feeling tears forming in my eyes. He looked into my eyes but made no movement. His smirk disappeared though, his lips forming into a small frown.

"I'll tell you everything you want to know, little rose." He whispered coarsely, making me slightly smile at him in confusion. Little rose? Where did he get that from? My smile faded, I still had to ask him about the person in my house. The person that had gotten in the shower with me and touched my undergarments.

"Sarah drowned on her way to break up with her fiancé. She was by herself that night." Sei began, making me shake my head.

"I was with her, we went there together."

Sei shook his head, "that's something you'll have to keep to yourself. The police know that she went on her own. She was at home alone yesterday and you were here."

"B-but..." I started, feeling defeated.

Sei stood up, making me look up at him because of his tall height. He placed his hand around my neck and glared at me, squeezing it gently. "Enough, this is the story you will go along with. I spent all night clearing any evidence of you being with her. From the pie you ate at her house, to the luggage, to you ever speaking to the receptionist, all the way to the slippers in the woods, to you car ever parking near that area."

He did all that? But how when he was supposed to be locked in here?

"But you were here... I saw you." I mumbled to him softly. I was drained mentally. I couldn't find it in me to begin processing all of the information that Sei was throwing at me all at once. It was all confusing.

"Listen to me, the scientists and government officials are going to be coming here in a while. I doubt they'll ask you any questions because of what happened to Sarah and because of their failed task. If they do, you have to stick to your story or else you'll ruin everything we've planned for us." He said to me sternly.

He lifted his hand off my neck and cupped my cheeks, catching me off guard. I placed my hands over his but didn't attempt to move them off my face. There was something inside me that didn't allow me to do that. He leaned down, close enough that I could feel his hot breath fanning my face.

"Listen to me, little rose. You were not hallucinating when you heard our voices in your head. We can speak to you through mind link. This is because our souls are linked together. We are bonded together. We are one." He said, leaning closer to me. I looked at him in shock, still not understanding a thing he was saying. I couldn't find any scientific explanation for this in my head, therefore I was absolutely confused about everything he was saying. Our souls are linked? We're bonded? I know he's not human but I don't understand how he could be bonded with me. And who is 'we'? Is it not just him? Could it also be this Silas guy?

"You need to say the things I told you so they will allow you to leave the building. We have to take you back home." He continued explaining his confusing things.

Home? I am home.

He pressed his cold lips on my forehead and let go of me. Those lips... They felt just like the ones from the other night. I could feel a tingle on my forehead, a burning tingle. It wasn't a painful burn, it was one that made my whole body warm and made me crave more. I wanted him to kiss me again, and his face showed that he knew that I did.

"When we take you back to our homeland, we will have you all to ourselves. For now, just do what I tell you. I'll see you in a few hours."

Why am I doing what he tells me? Why can't I just tell him that he and whoever this Silas guy is aren't having me? Why can't I tell him that I am not going anywhere?

"Because you want us just as bad as we want you. We are your soulmates after all." He answered my thoughts, making me shake my head and head for the door. I picked up my card and made my way to the exit, stopping when he spoke again.

"By the way, my name is Silas. The shy one you spoke to before is Sei, my twin brother."

The doors slid closed behind me after he said that, finally explaining the constant change of personality and appearance. It wasn't one person changing, it was two people swapping positions.

But how? How did they swap? Was there an exit that I had missed this whole time? Was it something only they could do since they weren't human? What were they then? Some sort of supernatural creatures?

I rubbed my temples, willing to do anything to get a full night of rest. Just so I could get a chance to think everything through. I slowly made my way to Damien's office, wanting to check if they had arrived or not.

I didn't even know what I would say to him when I saw him. As much as he was cheating on Sarah, he must have had some sort of love for her for him to wish to marry her.

I got to the familiar white door of his office. It was slightly open, a yellow light escaping from the space. I stopped in front of it when I heard him speaking to someone, a woman. I knew that sickly sweet voice anywhere. It sounded innocent and fearful, unknowing. Now I know that she's not as innocent as she made herself out to be.

"This is perfect," Sharlene mumbled, the sound of shuffling around following. "Now we can come clean about our relationship."

I could hear Damien sighing deeply at her statement, not planning on answering her.

"Baby, I know right now it kind of stings that she's dead but face it, you never loved her like you love me anyways." She said. I could hear someone unzipping something in there. Were they really going to do something right now? A couple of hours after Sarah passed on?

"We can't tell anyone yet," Damien said softly. "It's too soon, baby girl. Too soon."

I held my hand over my mouth, my eyes widening. They have been in a secret relationship this whole time? How long had this been going on? Did Miracle know anything about this?

Was it even Mica in Sharlene's office the day I heard noises?

I frowned and roughly pushed the door open, the wooden object loudly banging against the wall. Damien and Sharlene turned to look at me in shock and irritation. They were still dressed in the dark green military uniform, only without their boots. Sharlene was in the process of taking Damien's jacket off before I interrupted her and Damien had his arms around her waist. They looked like they were used to being intimate like that, like it was something they've been doing for months.

"Don't you know how to knock?" Sharlene asked, letting go of Damien. I didn't look at her, my eyes only on Damien.

"How long has this been going on?" I asked him, my fists clenching together.

He looked like a deer caught in headlights, surprised. "I'm sorry." He simply said.

"Your sorry doesn't mean anything to me. How long have you two been in a relationship?" I asked again, trying to be calm. I was beyond angry and hurt. I truly felt worthless now. He wanted to marry one, decided to have a relationship with another except for me, he didn't want any label with me. Just my body, just the pleasure.

"Is that all I've ever been to you? A toy? Something that wasn't important enough to even label? You called someone your fiancé and someone else your girlfriend but me... I was nothing?" I asked him, tears rolling down my cheeks. Sharlene crossed her arms and scoffed, but I still kept my gaze on Damien, who didn't look as guilty as he should've been.

I wasn't even upset that there was a third woman. I wasn't upset that he was still cheating on Sarah even after stopping with me. It hurt that he had used me and tossed me away. Yet he kept the other two women because they meant something to him. I was nothing to him. Absolutely nothing.

"You're nothing, Akielia." My mother's voice rang in my ear.

"Should've told your mother to abort you when she still could."My father's husky voice spoke, making me choke back a sob.

That's all I'll ever be to everyone... Something they enjoy for a little while and then toss away when they get bored.

I'm a piece of nothing.

Tears endlessly streamed down my eyes as I stared at the couple in front of me. I hiccuped, my hands on my face in attempts to wipe away all of my tears. "Oh, Akielia. I feel so bad for you right now." Sharlene said softly, although I could feel that she didn't mean what she was saying. I turned around, making my way out of that room. I ran the restroom, locking myself inside one of the stalls.

I sat down on the toilet and buried my face in my hands, my sobs and whimpers not ceasing. It had finally got to me. The past I was trying to desperately forget had resurfaced. The feeling of numbness and pain at the same time. It felt like that on the inside, especially my heart. The feeling of pain...

And the feeling of nothing.

My sobbing was silenced by an unfamiliar alarm going off. It was loud, to the point where I could hear it perfectly inside the bathroom. The white-yellow ceiling lights suddenly turned red, making me feel uncomfortable in the stall.
