She didn't know why Yu Xiang and these big men had come to this place but anger gradually rose in Chi Xin's heart. She pursed her lips and her eyes darkened.

On this floor, human voices and shouts were more obvious. Chi Xin determined where they came from and rushed towards the source.

At this time, Yu Xiang was engaged in a desperate struggle.

"I'm out!" A man cursed and threw his empty gun in the face of a zombie, "We need to evacuate!"

"We should have left a long time ago!" Another man yelled in a hoarse and angry voice, "But how?"

After they had realized the building was surrounded by zombies, they had resisted for a long time until they noticed they were wasting too many bullets and went into hiding to decide on a countermeasure.

But nearly two days had passed and the ammunition was only getting less. They were helpless and in a desperate move, they had decided to force their way out.

Unfortunately, the number of zombies had been way beyond their imagination and they had not even reached the stairway. As yet another large group of zombies poured in, the atmosphere finally fell into despair.

"Yu Xiang, what should we do?" A tired voice sounded. The two days of high tension had drained everyone's energy.

While they kept killing the zombies around, everyone silently waited for Yu Xiang's answer. He had organized this mission in the first place, it was up to him to give the final order.

Yu Xiang's handsome face was solemn, and no trace of the usual cheerfulness could be seen anymore. He gasped and fired with one hand, his other arm flumping weakly on his side, obviously seriously injured.

Hearing the question, he turned his pale face, looked at the men who were frantically struggling, and said in an empty voice: "I'm sorry, everyone. I have wronged you all."

"Don't say that." A soldier answered with a heavy breath, "We all volunteered, if we die here, this must be fate."

"Yes!" The other men agreed in unison.

"And even if we die, it can be regarded as dying for the Goddess!" Thinking of their initial objective, the men smiled and comforted themselves.

Yu Xiang's lips tightened. He leaned against the wall, his eyes were fierce and sharp and all bullets he fired aimed true. His marksmanship was very good and so were all the soldiers'. Unfortunately, they were running out and could not see the end of this attack.

More hissing and footsteps were coming from downstairs. On this fifth floor, this group of men seemed to be standing at the entrance of Hell, listening to the howls of evil spirits.

Was it how Yu Xiang's life would end? By now, he had no hope left for any miracle.

When his last bullet was fired, Yu Xiang closed his eyes and firmly held the strap of his backpack. Several zombies rushed towards him at the same time. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists, before suddenly opening his eyes and struck at the zombies.

His fists froze in the air. Not only Yu Xiang's but everyone's expression became stupid in an instant.

The zombies that were about to attack Yu Xiang stopped and after a split second, their heads fell off their bodies. Behind them, Chi Xin's expressionless face appeared.

Her white face was stained with blood and the moon illuminated her through the transparent French window. She looked beautiful, full of killing intent, and the blood of her enemies fell to the ground drop by drop.

Just like an Asura in the night.

Everyone's dead eyes suddenly lit up with a light called hope. They looked at her as if they had seen a bloody, fierce, and murderous God descend from heaven.

"Chi... Chi Xin?"

Yu Xiang's lips trembled, almost afraid to say her name, afraid she was just an illusion he had before dying.

But Chi Xin glanced at him with her usual cold look.

"If you aren't dead yet, move."

She had rushed to them but as soon as she had reached the men, she had seen the second male lead close his eyes and wait for death on the spot. She felt so angry she almost killed him herself.

She burst into action and quickly cleaned all the remaining monsters surrounding the soldiers. She then guarded the door of the staircase, one person enough to resist an entire army. She moved hard and did not waste an ounce of energy.

"Close the door!"

Yu Xiang reacted and loudly ordered the other stunned people to come help. The men worked together to get rid of the last rushing zombies and shut the door. Once the last creature was chopped off by Chi Xin, amidst the corpses and various fluids on the ground, only the sound of claws scratching the metal door could be heard.

"Chi Xin, it's really you."

Yu Xiang's somber face showed a silly and dreamy smile. He watched Chi Xin walk towards him step by step, his eyes full of wonder.

Chi Xin wanted to slap this idiot and lift him to get rid of all the water in his head. But looking at his miserable appearance, the hand holding the army knife twisted but she resisted the tempting idea.

"Was anyone bitten?" She swept her gaze on all the men present before looking back at Yu Xiang, "What happened to your arm?"

"Sister Chi, Brother Yu rolled downstairs to save me." A young-looking soldier said. His face was covered in blood and he stared at Chi Xin with a star-chasing expression. As soon as his voice fell, he blushed and the others looked at him, a bit of envy in their eyes; speaking to Chi Xin was the dream of many.

"Nothing, it's nothing." Yu Xiang waved his good hand, still showing his silly smile, "Chi Xin, did you come to save us? Where is the rest of the base?"

As soon as he asked, the others realized there might be more people and immediately looked around with excitement.

"Are you dreaming? Who did you talk to before leaving the base? Nobody has clairvoyance there, who would have thought to come to rescue you here!" Except for her, but it made her a little angry just thinking about it.

She almost pointed at Yu Xiang's nose: "What times are these, don't you know? If you want to die, do it yourself, don't drag other people! Do you think it's too lonely on the road of death? Do you want someone to bury you and keep you company?"

This head-bashing made the smile on Yu Xiang's face stiffen and his expression turned a little pitiful.

"I..." He choked and his uninjured hand took off the backpack he was carrying. He handed it over and whispered: "We didn't know if it would make you happy... but we're here for this."

Chi Xin took the bag and glanced at the other men suspiciously. They all looked back at her like puppies and nodded vigorously at her.

Although she had been scolding Yu Xiang just now, it was aimed at everyone. This group of big men were being admonished by a girl much smaller than them and did not dare to lift their heads. As they saw her open the bag, they all showed expressions of expectation.

Chi Xin looked into the backpack and her eyes froze. Liquid foundation, skincare lotion, essences, ... For every brand that was sold on this flood, one or two of its products were there.

"It's not... You've always liked these things." Seeing that the anger on her face had disappeared, Yu Xiang hurriedly tried to explain, "We're a group of rough men and we don't really understand. But the base doesn't have any and we just wanted to come to get some for you. We didn't know we would get besieged by zombies so fast."

Chi Xin raised her head and with a very complicated expression on her face, she asked: "You almost died for these?"

"Well," a man with reddening cheeks spoke, "Go... Sister Chi, you saved us. We have nothing to repay you but Yu Xiang said you liked cosmetics. Those are not easy to find since the outbreak and we made this stupid decision."

"But we don't regret it!" Another man said.

"We don't!"

"We're willing to find things for Sister Chi!"

Chi Xin squeezed the backpack in her hand and looked at the men, not knowing what to say. But was it the inevitability of the plot? She had gone to the mall, Yu Xiang had shown up and gotten injured, and the cosmetics had ended up in her hands... A foreboding sense of fate enveloped her.

"Let's go." Her anger had deflated and she pointed in the direction she had come from, "There is a fire exit there, and almost the zombies had been killed. Let's take this way."

She handed the backpack to one of the soldiers and noticed their dull expressions.

"What's wrong?"

"No... it's nothing." The men shook their heads.

After Chi Xin turned around, they looked at each other and all had the same helplessness and wry smiles. The zombies that had been surrounding them for so long had been "almost" cleaned by Chi Xin. The men resignedly followed her pace.
