《Harry Potter One Shots》Fred X Harley

Fred leaned on me from behind, using my shoulder as his personal arm rest. I sighed.

"Oi, Harley, you got anybody to go with to that dance?" he asked, grinning. "Cause me and Fred were gonna go, as a joke and all, and we were wondering if you maybe wanted to tag along."

I pretended to think for a moment.

"Yeah, sure, but I'm not dressing up too much. The dresses are all super pricey right now and I don't feel like emptying my wallet just to look nice for a few hours," I said, turning the corner towards our next class. He slipped his arm off my shoulder, preparing to split ways.

"Okay, I'll tell Georgie you're coming," he hollered after me, walking to his class.

I sat through Potions, thinking about what I wanted to wear. I didn't want to go super casual so I stood out, but I also wasn't being a cliche girl about to spend my life's savings on a pretty dress that I would never wear again. In the end, I decided to use the one that I wore to wedding a while ago. I was actually really touched that Fred asked me, even though I knew it was as a joke.

Fred and George wore matching robes on purpose, just to confuse people more. I sighed at their stupidity, although I shouldn't have been surprised, and they grinned in unison after they took a moment to take in how I looked.

"Let's go," George said walking towards me. They split and surrounded both my right and left sides, taking both of my arms to escort me to the Yule Ball.

Fred took my first dance after the tri-wizard champions had been called and we danced, pretending we knew what we were doing and how to do it. We laughed every time we messed up, which happened quite often. For the next song, George took over.

"So, this is nice, huh? Ice everywhere. Freezing our arses off." I laughed and he smiled. "Thank's for agreeing to come with us."

"Of course. We're friends. And it's just a joke, right?" I said, laughing as George stepped on his robes and almost tripped and fell over.

"Yeah, well Fred doesn't see it that way so much. He was so happy when you said yes. He wouldn't shut up about it." George laughed, but I didn't join him.

"What?" I asked, confused. I didn't understand.

"Oh shoot. I shouldn't of said that. Just forget I said anything, okay? Please?" he pleaded, looking around. Fred was still off getting drinks.

"Wait, no. George, Fred likes me? Like... like that?" I asked, pursuing the question. George was about to reply shyly but was saved by the sound of feet approaching us; Fred came up next to us, handing a drink to me and a drink to George. He smiled.

"What were you guys talking about?" he asked cheerily, taking a sip of punch.

"Oh nothing. Just the obnoxious ice sculptures," George said quickly.

"I think they're pretty," I argued, smiling. George was good at covering things up; I'll give him that.

"I think they're pretty too," Fred said. He grinned at me and took the next dance.

We swayed around awkwardly. I wasn't sure what to say when Fred sighed. He had obviously noticed the fact that I couldn't look at him and I couldn't even move right.

"George told you, didn't he?" he asked, sounding more annoyed than anything. I nodded once.

"Hey, before you say anything, I like you too Fred," I said, smiling as we continued to awkwardly sway. Fred chuckled nervously.

"Yeah, I was worried you would figure out that I didn't mean to ask you as a joke. I meant to ask you seriously," he said, giving his brother a look. George got up and went to get more punch, suddenly feeling the need to flee the scene in front of him.

"I was kind of hoping you would ask me seriously," I said. He grinned at me and then looked down, finding a sudden interest in the laces of his dress shoes.

"You... you look really nice... uh, right now," he said after a moment of weird silence. He was still a bit nervous, I could tell.

"Oh, thanks. Uh, you do too," I responded, flustered. I blushed, looking down for a moment. About 3 seconds later I looked up quickly. He was a lot taller than me and I was suddenly very aware of that. Regardless, I stood on my tiptoes and reached to give him a warm kiss on the cheek, making his face look even redder than the blushing mess he already was.

For the rest of the night we hung out, had drinks and danced more. Fred dared to come back to the scene of his crime only to discover that he was excused. All in all, the Yule Ball didn't turn out to be as much of a "joke" as the twins put it out to be; it was actually pretty fun. I never knew George Weasley was a matchmaker.
