《It's Just As Cold Outside -[ Sonic Reader Insert ]》[32] Flightless Allies

All of the heroes watched as the villains just betrayed their own ally. Starline had been disposed of. There were no last worlds, no final says... He was just cast away through a green portal to a mysterious place with nothing but his own witts till the end. Maybe he would get infected.
There was nothing you could do anyways, not that you wanted to help that sick creature anyways...
You stepped back as Metal stared you down, unhappy how close you were to his master. But he didn't scare you- the robot was rather intriguing. Especially after just tag-teaming up against Starline with him. It weirdly felt- like an honor?
But yet, you smiled at him and backed away with your hands up.
"Are we- okay with that..?" Tails asked Sonic, who had stopped running as the chaos commenced.
"Yeah, we're ok with this." You both agreed that this was a good thing in your eyes. The stubborn platypus wouldn't be getting in the way anymore. He tried to blow up Sonic and Silver, while you no longer wanted anything to do with Starline after he- you know....
Eggman cheered back up, immediately forgetting about his 'fired' henchman, "Now then! Back to business. If we go forwards with this plan we must get the chaos emeralds back. There should be two on the faceship at all times. One that powers it, and the other with Zavok while he's in control on the bridge. And now that Rouge is onboard, I'm sure she can steal them. She's an expert in stealing those kinds of things, correct?"
"Wh- How did you know she was onboard?" You interrupted the villainous man.
"Two little annoying birds I created told me..." Eggman brumbled. Ah-
Orbot and Cubot.
Eggman continued, "You'll be going on the offensive, so I can use this Warp Topaz to create portal, or portals... to wherever you need to go."

Silver stood back up, gaining confidence as a plan was finally set in motion, "But still, that means there are five left to deal with. I'm going to assume each of the Deadly Six have one in their personal possession. And even more so- they have their power..."
"We still have each other. We can overwhelm them one at a time if need be." You added, cracking your knuckles together as you desperately wanted to pummel one of the Deadly Six.
Knuckles stood back with his arms crossed, "Rouge said they were all networked though the faceship though. That means when we attack one, they will all know whose in trouble and all come running."
You sighed, and looked around you at all these marvelous heroes, and smart villains... "I hate to admit it, but we can't handle that kind of an invasion..."
"Then we hit them all at once so they're busy with their own fights!" Amy threw a hand in the air, pride in her answer and belief in that idea. She snapped her fingers together, "I've got to make a Call."
You were glad Amy seemed to be totally invested in this operation, but you were confused on what she meant.. "Call- Call who? We're all that's left."
. . . . .
"You've got to be kidding me..." Your eyelids fell as you saw an airship breeze past the side of the mountains on Angel Island. As the ship landed, Sonic joined your side in question.
"Really? You called the Babylon Rouges?" Sonic tried to whisper to Amy as the bird trio disembarked their ship and approached the heroes.
Amy anxiously responded that, "Well, they're also expert thieves and live on a blimp, so they've been able to avoid the virus down on the ground."
"Haha! Well well well, Sonic the Hedgehog! You're- looking more pathetic than ever." A green hawk, Jet, approached the blue hedgehog and crossed his arms, rather prideful of his superiority over the hindered hero.

The two bantered back and forth as you stepped forwards, eyes narrowed, as you tried to break up their superiority contest, "Listen bird boy, we called you for help. Are you gonna? Or not-"
Jet's blue eyes widened when he saw you- "(N/n!) WHOA! DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH OUR AIRSHIP!?!" The bird grew defensive as he saw you, the supervillain known for traveling in massive, battle airships that took down anything that flew close by. This little thing you could use as an advantage...
You chuckled to yourself as you took on a false villain act, winking at Sonic to tell him you got this, "Like I'm in any position to do that right now. But if I don't do it, the virus will take it down soon enough." You shrugged as you took another step forward, putting the egotistic hawk in his place to be afraid of you, "You know that some of them can fly, right?-"
Jet looked to Sonic, who nodded to confirm what you said. He smiled too, the hedgehog very much enjoying himself as he watched his rival get knocked down a ped. The green bird shook his head but was stopped by his pink swallowtail ally. Wave.
"Jet, If we don't help out where will we refuel or get supplies? Like... I don't know- FOOD?"
"T-sk, we can figure that out without helping these guys." Jet must have completely forgotten who he was talking to.
"You wanna say that again, pretty bird?" You suddenly stood above the hawk, menacingly looking down at this as he ruffled his feathers below you.
"Back off of our boss (M/s)." Storm, their largest member, tried to over rule your threat by standing in the way, but as soon as your dagger eyes stared at him, he backed off. "Eek!'
"Jet... I get it..." Sonic came in to try to persuade the stubborn, and slightly terrified, hawk. "You've got your reputation to maintain and things like that, but what happens when you mess with might (N/n) here?"
Egobost points.
You saw what the hedgehog was getting at. Maybe being the villain would only scare them away... After all, even as the villain, you had to pretend to be working with Sonic like Eggman already, and is probably, doing.
"Listen Pretty Bird." You took a step back from Jet to give him his safe space back, "This is the fact that matters. We can't do this without you. We NEED your help..." You turned away from him, thinking of one last remark to have the last word. You smirked... 'hehehe....'
"And besides, maybe you and your crew can prove to me your airship might be better than mine after all?"
"WELL!" Jet threw a punch into his open hand like a symbol of power and prowess, "If that's the case then who am I to say no? I can prove to you (N/n) that me and my crew are better than any of your ships! HAHA!" Jet began to talk away and plan with his fellow birds.
After they were gone, you and Sonic laughed to yourself as you watched each other sacrifice your pride.
Ngl, even reading the comics I never expected IDW to bring in these funny birds. Also, I just really love Metal in this panel lol, look at 'em, actually making an expression heheee

Remorse
I have killed many people over my long life. Men, women, children. None have escaped the shadows that I control. It was only one tiny mistake that I made that changed my life forever. I underestimated her, and I would pay for my hubris. “For every death you have given, you will feel their pain.” What? “For every person you have killed, you will feel regret.” Wait, wait… “For every murder you have commited, you will know what you have done.” I don’t think this is going to be pretty. The power leaves her voice as she continues in a softer tone. “I will give you back what you have lost, you will feel empathy again.” Her power releases me and I fall to the ground. Diana. That was her name. I will remember it. ******** This story starts out somewhat dark, but it will lighten up after the first chapter. I tend to not enjoy the psychological tag too much since stories with the tag tend to be a little insane for my liking, but I feel that I would be remiss not putting it on this story, since a lot of it is about the psychology of the main character. All the content warnings are checked since I want to leave my options open to me for the future. I hope you enjoy.
