⚠️ Content Warning for Blood.

Olive was blazing it to Barricade Town, 200 miles away flying at just below mach speeds allowed by the smaller ship. She was jamming out to some heavy music on the way, rifting guitars or deep bases like out of Doom Eternal. The Endurance was the giant missile they shot into mars, and you and Olive were the BFG Division. No one was stopping you.

Olive slapped the steering wheel and bobbed her head up and down viciously, narrowing her eyes like a speed demon, and when the song changed she started singing.

"There he is!" You pointed out the window as a dull blue blur ran across a barren field with short grass. No trees or even rocks. Sonic himself however looked very unequal. His speed trail wasn't as bright and noticeably slower. Something was wrong. "Come on Olive, get me down there."

Olive shook the hair out of her face and banked the ship right to get a better view of Sonic, "Hey, What's he doing?-"

You looked ahead of where Sonic was running, straight into Barricade Town. It was an abandoned place and nothing was sure to be there- Then Sonic stopped and looked at two small floating objects.

The Endurance was no longer the only ship in the airspace. Even if they were little hovering aircrafts, there were two other ships here. Decorated in a spiraling red and white with gold glowing buttons. Eggman and his Eggmobile. Next to him...

"Starline-" you growled

. . . . .

"Trying frequency 141.12." The henchman raised a small broadcasting device to the air to catch a better signal. He and his large friend watched for anything to happen below. Silence. "Nothing."

"This is so boring, can you pick up the pace duckbill?" Eggman rolled back in his Eggmobile as if it was a big rocking chair, challenging Starline as he did all the work.

Starline froze and looked at his 'hero' unamused. He then brought a finger down and pressed a button, "Sorry, sir, but if you had a plan we wouldn't have to do this right now. I personally don't want to get infected. 141.12"

"Bah, shows what you know about my work. Besides, there is no vaccine!" Eggman began to spin aimlessly in his seat like a bored child on their parents' swivel chair.

Starline's eyes widened, "WHAT?! How are we supposed to fight them off then if this isn't working!?"

Eggman chuckled, "Haha! Easy, just don't touch them. Anyways, I'm done with this conversation. You bore me duckbill."

"It's Starline-" The platypus mumbled, and continued to work at the device.

"Hmm, I think I'll call you Mr. Fashion Disaster actually!"

Sonic had interrupted the two villain's argument as you watched them taunt each other below. This had to have been his first time seeing the revived Eggman persona, rather than Mr. Tinkerer. The hedgehog looked tired, and pissed off and wasn't have it with Eggman's banter this time.

They were talking to each other still, Sonic asking, 'Why do this? WHy go back to this evil villain stuff?' Of course, Eggman just told Sonic that he should know this, Eggman's been trying to take over the world for years and this was just routine now.

You flipped on your communicator to overhear their conversation as the Endurance went in for the approach, staying quiet as it however severy hundred meters above the town. Sonic's ears flicked back at hearing your beacon, pretending not to know you were there to surprise attack. He finally smirked, giving Eggman a taunt before the two went at it in classic fashion.

You would be jumping down and intercepting Starline. He was YOUR enemy, and Sonic could easily take down Eggman as he always has.

"Olive, open the hangar door." On commands, the door to the SS Endurance opened and you spotted your target below. A memory flashed in your eyes as you would be jumping again, this time, you were on the attack. You were the chaser and Starline was your target.

Growling, you shook it off and jumped into the open air, narrowing your eyes as wind blasted into your face. It was hard to hear what Sonic and Eggman were doing, but you could only assume the most classic of antics. The hero vs his villain face to face, with your greatest enemy, and you would be doing the same momentarily.

Starline seemed to be working with frequency equipment when Sonic was distracted fighting Eggman. When the hedgehog breezed by, he yelled up to the henchman, "Hey duck!"

"I AM NOT A DUCK!"

"That's not what I meant!" Sonic laughed and ran off again to fight Eggman, the eggmobile wielding a massive spike ball and other grabby and stabby arms.

"What-"

"STARLINE!" You yelled above him, curling into a spin dash. The platypus yelled in shock, throwing his arms up to shield himself. That didn't help at all, and the square-shaped, hovering craft that Starline was on smashed into the ground, exploding into pieces. He was now exposed to the ground below.

The platypus sat on the ground, coughing as the dust spiraled around him. "You dastardly creature! You... You-!" Starline whipped away a trickle of blood that began to slowly flow from his cheek, from the impact of hitting the ground so violently.

Frantically, he scanned around the environment, searching for whoever had just violently hit him. 'More freedom fighters were here? Or their repurposed robot friends? Shadow?....'

(Y/n).

Tall above the grounded henchman, you stood menacingly above, eyes narrowed in an aggressive glow. Your right claw was gently bleached in the henchman's blood, shaking your glove to get it off. A growl escaped your throat as you reached to grab him with your outstretched claws. "Starline, this ends now."

Starline scooted back to avoid your grasp, rolling backwards and jumping back up to stand, "Likewise (m/s), this is your last chance to join us you know?"

He adjusted his clothes and fancy shirt collar, speaking with a suave voice as he encouraged you to his side one more time.

"Like HELL I will!" You took a step back, rolling your claws into fists ready to launch at Dr. Starline. "You've caused so much pain, for what, taking over the world!?"

You blasted forwards to him, but for an inexperienced fighter, he was slippery. Whenever you threw a fist towards him he managed to dodge to the side below, but he never fought back, just arrogantly began speaking... "I'm an Eggman fanboy as you freedom fighters say, of course my objects are the same as him."

"GHAAA!" you threw a unsuspected surprise punch to Dr.Starline, jabbing him right in the gut and pushing him back. He coughed up spit and blood as the wind was knocked out of him... You continued to fight, arguing as well, "Trust me when I say it's not worth it to have people fear you under your rule."

Finally, the platypus pulled out a morph cube, heavy class, and used it to general a shield from nano-technology, similar to the metal virus but- not a virus. The unstoppable force of your power smashing against his unmovable shield caused a small explosion as the two of you flew back.

Your claws dug into the ground as you caught yourself while Starline managed to keep his legs planted on the ground, his shield taking the force of the blow. The commotion allerted some local horde around you two...

Eggman and Sonic also flew by, the rivals still at it due to Sonic's hindrance. Usually, the fight would be over by now since Eggman was so under prepared and on his own. They flew by behind, where you turned around to face them while Starline was still staggered from your fight.

Eggman yelling, "Enjoying your last brawl with your mortal enemy before my wonderous virus takes over and you become a zombot slave for my army!"

Sonic skidded to a halt as Eggman boasted, not taking the time to continue firing at Sonic, rather, trying to kill his moral and get into his head, but Sonic, had other ideas. And even in the face of battle, he could make you laugh.

The hedgehog readied himself to jump up to Eggman, "Well if you love this virus so much..." Sonic jumped up too fast for Eggman to catch him, throwing an infected hand in front of Eggman, "Then why don't you have some!"

"WHOA WHOA WHOA!" The evil Dr yelled, throwing his hand all over the place trying to avoid Sonic's touch. He rolled back and forth, eventually upsetting the balance of the Eggmobile... and topping out of it right onto the grounds of the swarming infected. He threw a hand out, "I DEMAND YOU METAL MINIONS TO STOP!"

And.. they did?... Instead, all the zombots' attention was directed to Sonic instead, completely ignoring Eggman as a target even though Sonic was technically already infected.

"What?-" You whispered, turning around to see Starline recovered and beginning to laugh maniacally. He only pretended to be weakened... Damn you-...

"Hahaha!! I found a signal to control them. Oh poor (Y/n)~ Looks like it really is over for you..." The platypus put on a petty, smug face and tilted his head to the side, sarcastically acting oh-so-innocent as if what he was doing was no big deal.

"Good job lackey! Now upload it to the Eggmobile so I can control the rest and we'll get on our way!" Eggman got up and dusted himself off, prancing off towards the Eggmobile that he had fallen from, dust trailing behind him.

"No.. NO NO NO!"

Sonic, the usually cocky boy that he was, truly panicked. Fear spread to his eyes and in that moment he truly thought he had lost. He sped towards the Eggmobile, punching a hole straight through the center hull while you bolted towards Starline. Taking wide and fast steps, you used your one infection-proof glove to scoop up a pile of goo on the ground, reaching your hand towards Starline to stop him from sending the frequency anywhere else.

Too much was happening all at once, everywhere at once.

Sonic smashed into the Eggmobile, destroying the small floating craft, however he held his wrist in despair as you saw him again, his little data fitbit was destroyed.

You yelled to him, saying you had another, your placebo fitbit. Hope was not lost.

Starline overheard your call, "NO!" He screamed, turning his morph cube from a shield, to a heavy firearm... You saw it when you took the data from the old base. An unstable Eggman prototype called a Skewer, and aimed it right at Sonic on the rooftop of another building.

"You will NOT stop us!"

You were surrounded by a horde, ordered to take over you and Sonic now that they were under Eggman and Starline control. You were stuck, and Sonic was overwhelmed. Tired and pinned down.

"YES. WE. WILL!"

Drifting through the air, the massive blur of your ship, the Endurance breezed by, hovering to a halt in front of Starline, blocking Sonic. Olive looked face to face to Dr. Starline, her eyes narrowed and angry through the windshield of the ship.

The platypus stood strong, waiting to see which of the two would make the first move. He muttered, slowly lowering the weapon..."Fine."

If I can't take out Sonic, THEN I'LL TAKE YOUR PESKY PILOT INSTEAD."

The world moved in slow motion. Sonic ran to the side to try to knock out Starline. Your eyes widened and you screamed, ignoring the horde of infected about to surround you, jumping into the air without any direction to try to get to your best friend.

Starline had brought the weapon back up to face the ship, fingers dangerously close to the trigger's threshold as he pulled down on it. The Skewer fired right into the cabin of the Endurance. Right in front of Olive.

: Sonic and Y/n have ambushed Eggman and Starline trying to find a frequency that can control the zombots again. Eggman is distracted with Sonic when Y/n drops in from above to fight Starline on her own. While doing so, they clash and Sonic distracted Y/n for a moment, allowing Starline to find a signal. Sonic then destroys the Eggmobile to prevent them from getting that frequency back to the Faceship but destroys his bioscanner fitbit thing in the process. Y/n announces she has one, but is stopped when Starline threatens to shoot down Olive with a very strong weapon, called a Skewer. It's very unstable, and ends up hitting Olive's ship. That is where this chapter finishes.

Whoa, what just happened. Is this- Violeencceeee!????? Yes my friends, like I said, things will be taking a darker turn from now on. But after what Starline just did, what's going to happen next to our best friend?...
