"Mom, pass the sandwiches," Keanu says.

Mrs. Medero however is still distracted listening in on Mr. Medero telling my father about the small yacht.

"So what's the model?" My father asks as he sips his beer.

"A twenty fourteen Azimut Mangello forty three Flybridge." It all goes through one ear and out the other. "Forty two feet and six inches long. Max speed of twenty two knots."

"Mom!" Keanu shouts to grab Mrs. Mederos attention.

"What?" She practically barks back.

"The sandwiches," she says holding out her hand. I ignore them and keep listening to Mr. Medero.

"I'll show you the downstairs. There's three cabins and four beds all together."

Mr. Medero leads my parents down the stairs.

"Want to jump in?" Keanu asks as she takes off her dress to reveal a yellow bikini.

I smirk to her and she bends down to kiss me, slipping a bit of tongue.

"C'mon let's go," she says pulling me by my shirt. Eventually she lets go and jumps off the side into the open water.

I get up throwing off my shirt and jumping next. When I surface I can hear her laughter.

She swims a bit away from the small yacht and I follow.

"How's teaching Leo to ride going?"

"Eh," I say. "Surprisingly, he listens and isn't too difficult."

"Ah wait till he's in a mood."

"Isn't he always in a mood?"

"Aha," she barks out a laugh. "You'll know he's in a mood when he's significantly bitchier then usual. He's such a diva too."

"And you're not?"

"I'm a rich girl, of course I'm a diva. He pretends he doesn't come from a rich family and can be rather dry, yet somehow he is still a diva."

She splashes me a bit before starting to swim back. "Anyway, I'm going to jump off again. C'mon."

I follow her back to the boat where we climb up the latter back on.

"I want to dive from the top."

"Thought your dad said not to do that," I say as we walk past them and upstairs to the top.

"Listening to parents is boring. Just make sure you dive out." She barely finishes her sentence before she's jumped off the edge and dived in.

I watch her resurface and yell for me to come down. Obviously the parents are too preoccupied to notice so I jump off and dive into the water.

Keanu and I spend the rest of the day jumping off and swimming around. For a bit we swim to shore and look at shells.

We're out on the water till four and my father has invited them over for a BBQ. They say yeah and that they have to drop off at home to change and drag along Leo.

Once we're back I'm so exhausted from being out in the heat all day. I just chill on my phone on the couch because mom hates when I sit in the room, I end up falling asleep and waking up when it's sunset.

I lift my head from the arm of the couch to an empty house.

"Sleeping beauty has awoke."

I look to my right where Leo is on the other side of the couch on his phone.

"Your mom didn't want to wake you." He doesn't look up from his phone, he never does.

"What are you doing here?"

Then he looks up. "I was dragged to the BBQ for some family bonding and I found a nice spot on the couch away from the socializing." To be honest, anytime he's been here and not been with the horses he's sat in that exact spot on the couch.

"Where's Kea?"

"Outside. She brought her friend yet I wasn't aloud to bring mine. Apparently I'm supposed to be talking to you but you've been knocked out up until this point."

Talking to him has already given me a headache. I stand up and make my way to the kitchen. The stove displays that it's ten past six.

I walk out the glass door to where everyone is talking outside. Dad is barbecuing and all the fairy lights, or whatever they're called, that are lined along the fence have been turned on. Aleks' parents are here too which surprises me because I haven't seen them around here in a bit.

"Hey bud," Aleks says walking up to me. "Where have you been?"

"Asleep," I grumble.

"I've been stuck talking to your girl and Talia and if they mention shoes one more t—"

"Talia? They're friends again?"

"I assume so because they're literally clung together like magnets. Damn, girls really can't keep their hands of each other. Not complaining."

I follow his gaze to where Talia and Keanu are giggling.

"Okay creep," I laugh. "What's there to eat?"

"Food, I don't know go check."

I walk past him and instead of looking to what's being served I walk up to Talia and Keanu.

"I see you two don't hate each other anymore," I say.

"Hate each other?" Keanu says in a tone that I don't like. Well fuck. "When did we hate each other?"

"Weren't you pissed at each other in the hall the other day?"

"Just pissed. Where did you get hate?"

"You called her a bitch to her face and then a slut for trying to get with m-" I stop when Keanu's glare looks like she's imagining strangling me.

"You said what?" Talia snaps taking a dramatic step away from Keanu.

"You idiot," Keanu says to me. Then I walk away.

I'm not the stupid idiot who says things that shouldn't be said. I knew what I was doing because hey Talia deserves to know what kind of friend she has and this party is boring. Not only that but if Keanu is gonna make me feel like an idiot for saying they hate each other then I'll just innocently defend my reasoning.

When I can't find Aleks I go back inside assuming that maybe he went to the bathroom. I'm greeted again by the lovely Leo.

"Back so soon."

"I'm bored," I groan basically throwing myself onto the couch.

"Welcome to the club."

"Why are you even here?"

"I was forced to come."

"Didn't mean you had to come. You seem to not care what your parents tell you."

"They're bribing me to do things with a car."

"Thought you don't like looking spoiled."

"I don't but it's hard to runaway from those suckers if I don't have a car and I'm not getting a job."

It's silent.

"Say, how about you drive me somewhere and then neither of us are bored."

"What?" I lift my head up.

"You say your bored, c'mon let's go. I'll be stuck here for hours if they start drinking."

"Why would I leave? My mom would be pissed."

"Okay goodie two shoes. You're trapped in your own house."

"I'm not trapped—"

"Then why don't you leave? Your bored. Go do something."

I hate that he's acting like I'm too chicken shit. I know he's doing it on purpose to manipulate me to drive him where he wants but it's working.

"What exciting memories do you have again? Playing on my parents yacht while they're in a ten meter radius? Semi formal where there's teachers everywhere? Have you even drank?"

"I think you're mixing me up with the nerdy goodie two shoes. I've gone to parties I just respect my parents."

"Well fuck that, let's go," Leo says hopping up. "I'm bored, you're bored. They're having fun chatting. My sister won't miss you, she has Talia."

"Well actually—"

"Doesn't matter. Let's go." He begins walking down the hallway leaving me behind.

"Wait," I call out, hopping off the couch and following. "Where are we even going?"

"Someplace."

"Oh wow very helpful," I snort in a sarcastic tone as I watch him slide his shoes on.

"It's a place I hang with my friends at."

"Okay so I have to drop you off to hangout with your friends? What am I? Your mom?"

"I mean you could join."

"And hang around your friends?"

"Go back to sitting on the couch then. I'm going to sit outside." He walks out the door, closing it shut behind him and leaving me alone.

I guess he's right. What better things do I have to do? I could find Aleks but I already know he's just going to nag me about re joining the team and I'd have to re explain why I can't do that.

Finally I decide fuck it and I run up to my room to grab my keys. I return back downstairs, throw on sneakers and walk out the door. Leo is sitting on the porch step smoking.

"Dude," I say. "How— if your parents don't kill you, mine will. Stomp that out."

"You're such a buzzkill," he groans as I walk down the steps. He follows.

"If my car smells like smoke I will be the one to kill you."

"Oh no your precious Porsche."

"I'm your drive right now so I would shut the fuck up."

The sun has set and it's now dark out. Mom usually doesn't like when I go out late. I haven't even told her I'm leaving.

Then again I can imagine she wouldn't like the idea of me going to hang out with Leo's friend.

The car ride is mainly just us bickering about things.

Eventually he makes me turn right into an alleyway in downtown to a garage looking place. I park in the small parking lot in front of the old looking garage.

"You plan on murdering me?" I mumble.

"The idea has crossed my mind."

"Comforting to know," I say as he gets out of the car.

I really don't want to leave my car behind but nobody seems to be around. The spot is pretty secluded.

I follow Leo through a door into the garage. Inside it's like a lounge. There's couches and a tv.

"Leo!" The girl I remember him saying was Olivia yells from across the room. "Who the heck is that?"

"My drive."

On the couch is Stella, Gabriel and another girl with dark brown hair. Stella has dark skin and black hair, Gabriel has bleach blonde hair and Olivia's hair is dirty blonde and long.

"What about a name?" Olivia says walking towards us.

"Oh is that the kid who's dating your sister?" Stella asks.

"Yeah," Leo says moving to sit down. I stand, extremely uncomfortable.

"Okay then kid come sit down," Stella waves me over. I reluctantly move forward and sit on a beanbag.

"I'm Elle, that's Gabe, Liv and Mia."

Leo is in the corner looking through the fridge and Mia and Liv have started up a conversation. Meanwhile Gabe is just staring.

"This is an old garage my dad used to work in but he moved the business and now it's our little hang out," Elle explains.

It's quite artsy. All over the walls is spray painted art.

"You paint?"

"No that's Leo."

I turn to her and raise an eyebrow. "Leo did all that?"

"Yeah takes most people by surprise."

"You know what's not surprising," Leo says appearing out of nowhere. "You have no beer."

"Well yeah there's five of us drinking it and I can't exactly just walk in and buy it."

"Liv can."

"Didn't she lose the ID card."

"No I didn't," Liv yells. She's now moved from the couch to a worn down pool table in the left corner.

Everything in here looks worn down and like it was found on the curb but it's off such a calming vibe. A teenage hangout you'd see in a movie.

"Okay then why did you tell me you lost it," Elle turns around on the couch to face Liv.

"So I didn't have to go buy some that day."

"Seriously?"

"What? I was at Luke's house," she says in a flirty tone.

"Luke Evans?" Gabe's head pops up. "Seriously?" He raises an eyebrow with the judgemental tone.

"He's hot, I'm hot. We had fun." She winks.

"What the hell next time invite me," Mia says.

"Maybe I will," Liv says, the flirty tone returning.

Elle turns back to face me. "That's normal between them."

I'm starting to pick up everyone's personalities. Olivia, flirty. Leo, the sarcastic prick. Elle, the one in charge. Mia, not really sure. Gabe, kinda just here.
