I heard the door bell go off a minute ago and since then I've thrown on a nicer polo shirt and khakis.

When I walk downstairs Keanu's parents are there and surprisingly, so is a boy I assume to be Kaleo.

I've dated Keanu almost a year and I've never once met the kid. He looks exactly like Keanu. The same black curly hair, tan skin and brown eyes.

"Ah there's Andrew," Elijah Medero points out to me.

"Hey—" I make eye contact with my dad. Without him making a sound I know to straighten my posture. "Mr. And Mrs. Medero."

Before Elijah can correct me and continue to insist I call him by first name, my mother ushers everyone into the other room leaving my father and I.

Before I move to follow everyone my father stops me.

"Andrew."

"Yes?" I turn around.

He lowers his voice so that the others in the next room can't hear. "Elijah was saying that his son is quite rebellious and was hoping you would be a good influence to straighten his son out."

"I—uh what? I've never even met the kid and he goes to another school?"

"Your mother will have Mrs. Medero over for tea and I'll invite Elijah out to golf and things. We all seem to get along nicely so I hope for this to become more of a regular thing."

My dad is nearing 50 and now that he has his career and hobbies all figure out or he's retired from the ones that take up his whole schedule, like competitive racing, he's not got much friends. He met Keanu's dad from dropping me off at her tennis practice so many times.

"I don't have time to try and straighten out some delinquent teen, that's his parents job. They only have two kids, one of which is doing perfect, it shouldn't be that hard for them."

"Andrew. You will do it. They just think you will be a good influence. You and Keanu are so good together."

"Yeah well I'm dating her. I don't plan on dating him." I cross my arms clearly annoyed with what my father is asking me.

"Well you'll be hanging around this family a lot more and his parents are forcing him to come here as well."

He turns eighteen soon. I'm sure he'll run off. Which means I only have like six months or something having to deal with him.

Keanu describes him as a sarcastic asshole. Let's go find out.

I follow my father into the dining room where everyone is sat and all the food is already placed on the table.

Luckily for me the empty spot is next to Keanu. I quickly move to sit down and listen in on the the parents gossiping. Keanu talks to me but I only half listen. Leo, who is across the table from me, is dead silent. It's so blatantly obvious he is dreading this whole ordeal.

Later after dinner Keanu and I are sitting in the tv room where the huge tv is mounted on the wall and watching whatever cooking show is on. My parents are showing the Medero's the wine cellar down stairs. I can imagine my father is subtly trying to fit in somewhere all the trophies displayed on the shelves on the walls down there.

"I won this one in eighty eight against Freddie something—" I don't remember the guys name but he hates that Freddie guy.

Then Leo walks into the room and immediately rolls his eyes at the sight of Keanu cozied up next to me, her head nuzzled into my neck.

She lifts her head when she hears the footsteps.

"Leo. Come sit down."

"When are we leaving?" He ignores her.

"I don't know."

"I'm going to call an Uber."

"Dad will kick your ass. Just sit down and quit acting like a little angsty punk."

"Quit talking like you're a forty eight year old woman with tan skin, black hair and—" he starts to describe his mom.

"I get it, mom annoys you but sorry I want you to socialize," she rolls her eyes.

"I socialize plenty."

"Not with me," she sits up.

"I'm not doing this now."

"This is the only time you can't run away so yeah we'll do this now," Keanu snaps at him.

Part of me still can't wrap my head around the idea that Keanu has a brother. I mean, I've always known about Leo but I've known Keanu for years and never have met him.

"And come on. You've never met Andrew," Keanu says.

"I'm pretty sure Andrew is their sad attempt of trying to make me befriend someone rich. Why else would I be here." He crosses his arms and raises an eyebrows. "I mean, parents would never drag me here just to embarrass themselves in front of other rich people about their disappointment son."

Guess Keanu was right, he is a little shit.

Keanu shakes her head and sighs, mumbling something under her breath in the process.

"Well. You seem to be stuck here so... cards anybody?" I ask.

Part of me wants to tell this douche bag to fuck off and walk home but I'd never hear the end of it from my father.

Leo cocks an eyebrows and glares at me like I just named the most ridiculous activity.

"It's a game," I say to piss him off because he's pissing me off.

"I know what cards is dumb ass."

"Do you? Because you looked awfully confused by my offer."

"He's too stubborn to say yes so I'm saying yes for him. Go grab the cards," Keanu says to me.

I nod my head before untangling myself from both the blanket and Keanu. I head over to a cupboard we have in the other room full of board games. They've collected quite a bit of dust because the only time we ever used them was at family get togethers. However, haven't been to one of those in three years. After my grandma died my father and his brother got into a big argument about something he won't tell me.

I grab the Cards Against Humanity hoping that would make this night less boring. Cards is rather boring, I don't know why I suggested it.

I return and sit down on the couch. "Let's play at the table," Keanu says before I even place the box down. She snatches it from my grasp and heads to the dining table in the other room. Leo and I follow.

She starts to set up the game and I change the lights from dim to bright white. Then I close the blinds.

"Leo sit down would you," I can hear Keanu say to Leo in the dining room once I've walked into the kitchen. I grab a glass of water before returning to where Keanu has set up the game already.

I sit down and she's handed me my cards. We end up playing for a little under an hour before Mr. and Mrs. Medero decide they've got get home. Leo looks more then relieved and Keanu kisses me goodbye while our parents chat.

"See you in class tomorrow," she says before stepping away and towards the door.

"Say, Andrew you ride horses competitively don't you?" Elijah asks.

"Ah yes I do." I nod my head.

"I've been trying to get Kaleo into a sport for quite some time now. Would you mind taking the time to teach him to ride?"

"No way in hell," Leo says and his dad immediately shoots him a glare.

"Oh- uh sure I can do that," I say.

"That would be great," Elijah says. Mrs. Medero is busy chatting away to my mother. The two seem to get along nicely. "Okay Hannalore, let's go."

Leo is the first out the door then he's followed by everyone else. My father follows them outside and closes the door behind himself.

My mother turns to me and smiles. "You're so grown. And you couldn't of picked a better girl. Her family is lovely. Well, except that boy."

"Leo?"

"Oh is that his nickname? What a rude kid. His parents mentioned that they hoped you would be a good influence on him." If I weren't talking to my mom I'd roll my eyes.

"Now apparently I have to teach him to ride a horse. How does he not know how to ride a horse? Keanu loves to go on trail rides with me, how come whoever taught her can't teach him?"

"Honey, his parents are trying for him to hang around someone his age that isn't a druggie."

To be honest he likely hangs around people who have less money, my mother acts like everyone in those bad neighborhoods could kill us. Keanu as well. She's mentioned that Leo's friends terrify her.

I groan at mothers comment before spinning around to head upstairs.

Not only have I struggled to fit spending time with Keanu and her tennis practice into my schedule but now her brother? What they're asking of me is ridiculous.

Never the less, he'll be eighteen very soon and no doubts, he'll be gone.
