《Hidden Riches》Chapter 45

I stood in the mirror, staring at myself. I looked absolutely gorgeous. Violet knew what she was doing.

We had just gotten back from the mall. We had picked out a red lace midi dress and white heels for tonight. The dress hugged my curves tightly, in a good way. I curled the ends of my long hair and did light makeup. I was ready for tonight.

I left my room and closed the door behind me. I slowly and carefully walked down the stairs, trying not to trip. I was never good at walking in heels.

"Jesus Christ," Logan said, coming toward me from the living room. "You look breathtaking, Bunny!"

Logan looked exactly like he always did. In a black shirt and blue jeans. Still, he looked more breathtaking than I did.

"Thank you." I blushed. "We should hurry up and go. I want to be early."

"Sure. Do you have everything you need before we go?"

"Yep."

"Okay. Here, I'll help you walk." He held his arm out to me. I smiled and linked my arm with his. I reached up and kissed his cheek softly.

"Aww, thanks babe." He smiled.

We left the house and marched toward the car. "Here you go, my lady." Logan said as he opened the passenger side door for me. "Thank you, sir." I said and climbed in. After that, he climbed into the drivers side and began to drive down the street.

My heart started to pound as we got closer to Violet's street. I was still angry at myself for inviting Chloe. This party was supposed to be a celebration for Grace and I, now it was a competition.

"Are you okay, babe? You've been quiet all day." Logan asked

"I-I'm fine. I'm just a little upset."

"At me?" He raised his eyebrows.

"No, at myself. God, I feel like an idiot for inviting Chloe and her stupid boyfriend!"

"Bunny, you're being a little too hard on yourself."

"No, I'm being honest."

"Look, you were caught in the moment. What you did was stupid, but what's done is done. She's going to come. Stop being hard on yourself and accept it."

I didn't fight with him after that. There would be no point. I would lose anyway.

Violet's house peered round the corner. About two dozen cars were parked around it. Violet was standing outside, looking around frantically.

"Do you think she's looking for you?" Logan said, parking the car.

"Most likely," I sighed.

Logan stepped out of the car and came over to my side once again. He opened the door for me and held his hand out. I took his hand and stepped out of the car. Together, we walked towards the house. Violet's attention immediately turned to us. She and I wore the same dress, but the one she wore was purple and instead of white heels, she wore tall black ones.

"Hannah!" She called out. She slowly tip toed down the stairs. "Hannah Sky!" She said between her teeth.

"What? What is it?!" I said.

"Ugh! That witch you invited decided to invite the whole school!"

"What?!"

"Yes! Everyone is coming!"

"Really?! Is she here now?"

"Yes! She's inside getting all cutesy and shit with her boyfriend!"

"I'm going go talk to her, okay?" I said, releasing Logan's arm. I went up the stairs of the house and entered with them behind me. The house was crowded with old classmates. They were dancing to the loud music, shoving snacks down their throats and filling their red cups with liquor.

In the corner, I found Amanda and Heather. They were completely drunk, gyrating like an idiots.

I walked up the stairs, looking for Chloe. Down the hallway was three closed doors. I could hear loud voices coming from behind every one of them.

Suddenly, I heard a loud giggle from down the stairs. It sounded familiar. That must be Chloe.

As I turned to go down the stairs, I heard one of the doors loudly creak open.

"Shhh.." Someone giggled. It was a woman's voice.

"Stop laughing. Someone will hear us." A man's voice whispered back. "Hurry up and go downstairs."

"Okay, okay. I had so much fun with you today, Chase. Let's do this again sometime."

Chase? What's he doing up here?

A long haired, petite girl came from the room and headed toward the stairs. Her hair was slightly messy, along with her dress. She smiled at me, then continued down the stairs. Chase came into view behind her.

"Oh! Hey... Hannah..."

"Hi Chase," I said. "I see that you are already having fun."

"Yeah... look, it's not what you think-"

"Chase, you don't have to explain anything to me. We're not together. Have as much fun as you like." I turned on my heels, then continued down the stairs.

"Hannah Wait!" Chase called after me.

Down there, I found her. Chloe was in the kitchen, along with her boyfriend. They were having a conversation.

I stormed toward them, almost tripping on my heels. I approached Chloe and tapped her shoulder.

"What?" She quickly turned and faced me. "Oh, it's you Hannah! Hi! I'm having a lot of fun!"

"Good for you, Chloe. Anyway, what the hell is the matter with you? Why did you invite all these people?"

"Was I not supposed to?" She raised her eyebrows.

"No! You weren't!"

"But, you invited me."

"On accident! Chloe, this party wasn't supposed to be this big."

"Why not?"

"Because everyone doesn't need to know about our engagement!" I shouted at her.

You idiot!

Immediately, I covered my hands with my mouth. What have I done?!

The look on her face became indescribable. She stared at me closely, then darted her eyes to my hands, searching for the ring. I quickly hid my hands behind my back and looked down at the floor. "Chloe-"

"This is an engagement party?" She silently questioned.

"Yes, it is." I say, looking up. I watched her place her red cup on the counter, slowly.

"I see. That's why you invited me, huh?"

"Chloe-"

"You invited me to a party to celebrate your happiness? You wanted me to be jealous, didn't you? You're so cruel, Hannah Sky."

"I.... I just... wanted you to be happy for me like I am for you, Chloe. I'm sorry-"

"You liar!" She screamed at me. "You're nothing but a bitch!"

In the corner of my eye, I could see Logan, Violet, Grace and Beverly coming toward us.

"You know Hannah, I was so excited when you invited me to this party. I thought you and Logan had finally forgiven me for what I had done. But now I know. You didn't give a damn about any of that. You only wanted me to be jealous of you!" She said and threw her purse onto the counter.

Everything she was saying was true. I did want her to be jealous of me. I wanted her to be angry at how happy I was with Logan.

"Calm down, Chloe. She apologized." Her boyfriend finally spoke for the first time.

"Shut up! You don't know anything about this!"

"Get out!" Violet yelled. "I will not sit here and let a whore like you yell at my best friend at her engagement party!"

"Oh, don't you worry! Don't you worry one bit! I'm going to leave, but not after she gets what she deserves!" She screamed. She grabbed her purse and dug inside. She held something small and black in her hands. "Thank god, I brought this today!" She smirked, squishing the item in her hands.

I watched as Logan ran past me and toward Chloe. "Stop!" he yelled. He tackled her and slammed her to the ground. "You're insane!"

"Logan-" the breath was taken from my mouth as a light flashed in my eyes. A loud bang rang in my ears. The room went dead silent.

Logan stared at me with wide eyes. "Bunny..."

I felt a sharp, burning pain in my side. It began to feel warm and wet. I placed my hand on my side. As I looked down at my hand, it was covered in dark red blood. Before I could open my mouth to scream, everything went black. The last thing I heard before passing out, was Logan screaming my name.
