《Hidden Riches》Chapter 43

I knocked on the front door of Violet's house. My heart was pounding in my chest. I balled up my fists and exhaled. Today was the day I was going to tell Violet Logan and I were engaged.
What would she think? Would she be happy, upset, or surprised...
Hopefully, she's happy. I can't take another upset person over our engagement. I would hate it if Violet disapproved. She was my best friend after all.
"Coming!" I heard Grace yell from the inside. She swung open the front door and gave me a giant smile. "Hannah!" She jumped up and hugged me. "It's so nice to see you!"
"Hi Grace!" I said as she pulled away. As I looked at her, I noticed something different. She was glowing and her stomach had grown.
Was she pregnant?
"Notice anything different?" She said, twirling around in her purple dress. "I look different, don't I?"
"Well... your stomach." I nervously said. "It's bigger."
"Sorry." She giggled. "I just couldn't stay away from the Nachos!"
Hannah! Are you dumb?
"Oh! I'm so sorry! I thought-"
"You thought I was pregnant didn't you?"
"Yes, I did. Sorry."
"That's because... I am!" She yelled.
She and I squealed together. "You're pregnant, Grace? Congratulations!"
"Aww, thank you. I'm only a few weeks along so don't get too excited... BAM!" She said, showing me her right hand. On her ring finger was a diamond ring. "Look!"
"You're engaged?!"
"Indeed I am. This little lady has been having a lot of fun with her boyfriend lately."
"I can tell! Congrats once again, Grace!"
"Thanks! Now, come inside! We haven't seen you in a while, Hannah. We want to hear everything."

I walked inside behind her. Violet and Beverly were lounging on the couch, eating snacks and watching a movie. "Hannah!" Beverly yelled. "You actually showed up!"
"Of course I did!" I said, jumping onto her and Violet.
"Hey!" Violet yelled. "Too much love!"
"Really Violet?" I said. "I've missed you guys!"
"Oh, we missed you too." Beverly said and hugged me.
"Alright, tell us about your special date with Logan." Violet said. "It's been a while since then, huh?"
"Yeah."
"You remember the date, don't you?"
"Of course I do. I don't think I'll ever forget it." My cheeks burned.
"Ohh, you're blushing. Come on! Spill the beans!" Beverly said, sitting up.
"Um... well... after we left the building, we went back to the house for dinner,"
"The house? I thought you were going to a fancy ass restaurant." Violet said, turning down the television.
"I kinda did too. We had spaghetti for dinner."
"That. Sounds. Delicious." Grace said.
"It was!"
"That's not very romantic." Violet says.
"Wait! Be a little more patient! I'm not done yet. Okay, so after dinner we talked about a lot of the bullshit we've gone through and then we danced."
"Awww,"
"Then he just stopped dancing with me and started apologizing about leaving me so much and then... then he..."
"What? What did he do?" Violet said.
I swallowed back the tears that started to weld up in my eyes. Thinking about that day, made me emotional. It was the happiest day of my life. "Then... he got down on his knees-" I continued.
"He gave you head?" Violet blurt out.
"WHAT?!" Grace, Beverly and I yelled. "WHAT THE FUCK?"

"Did he give you head?"
"No! Why in the hell would he do something like that?"
He did later that night though... I won't tell them that.
"You said he got on his knees!"
"Just... listen...He... proposed to me."
At that moment, the three of them screamed. "OH MY GOD!" They yelled
"You're getting fucking married?" Beverly yelled. "Finally!"
Violet immediately stood from the couch and walked out the door. "Hallelujah!" She yelled. "Thank god!"
I laughed at them as they covered me in hugs.
"CONGRATULATIONS!"
***
"When are you gonna get your wedding dress?" Violet asked. "The wedding is soon, right?"
"I don't know." I said, sitting down at the kitchen table. Beverly and Grace were in the living room ordering a few pizzas.
"When you do, let me know. I'll go shopping with you."
"Thanks. No one else will." I said, looking down at my knees.
"Did your Mom not wanna go?"
"No. She.. won't come to the wedding either."
"Why not?" She said, her eyebrows furrowed.
"She doesn't want me to marry Logan."
"For real? Why not?"
"Because of Jason. When he came to attack us, my parents lost trust in Logan. They think it's his fault all that shit happened."
"What? He saved your fucking ass."
"I KNOW. Still, my parents don't like him. It's driving me fucking crazy. I can't be more pissed at them right now."
"Have you tried to change their mind?'
"Yes! I took Logan with me, too! They still said no! After all that, I decided to give up. I mean... there isn't anything else I can do."
"I feel ya, girl. Don't be too pissed about it. They'll change their mind soon, I promise."
"You think so?"
"Yeah. If they really loved you, they would look past all that bullshit and watch you get married to the man you love."
Suddenly, Beverly skipped into the kitchen, Grace behind her. "The pizza's on it's way. I can't wait!"
"Thank god." I sighed. "I'm starving."
"While we wait, we should think of a party for you and Grace to congratulate your engagement." Beverly said.
"A party? What kind of party?" I asked
"The best party you'll ever have in your life! We'll drink wine, eat snacks, invite people over and get fucked up!" Beverly said
"Um, I can't drink wine, Beverly. I need certain foods." Grace said. "It's bad for the baby."
"I know, I know. We'll give you food that's safe for the baby. But, you still have to party with us!"
"Definitely! Oh my gosh, we have to invite so many people! Could I invite my fiance?!"
"Bitch. Go. Ahead." Beverly said.
They jumped up and squealed. "We're gonna party!"
"I guess I'll bring Charles." Violet shrugged. "Are you gonna bring Logan?"
"If he doesn't have work. He'll love to come."
The door bell rang behind us. "Pizza's here!" Grace said, marching to the door.
That night, we ate so much pizza and planned for the best party for our lives!
I haven't been to a good party in years. Maybe... I'll get fucked up... like Beverly said.
