《Hidden Riches》Chapter 35

I lay in the bed, staring up at the white ceiling above me. I listened to Logan lock the door behind him as he left for work. Every time he left I got anxious. Would he end up leaving me again for months without telling me?

The funny thing was, regardless if he was with me or not, we were still dedicated to our relationship. I still called him my boyfriend and he still called me his queen.

When Logan and I had our first kiss, I was saying yes to being his unless I wanted out. But, I didn't want out. I wanted to be with him. I wanted to be with the man who saved me from my own sadness.

Even as the months without him passed, I would wait. I would wait for him to come back and hug me. I missed his kisses and the rough cuddles. I missed the jokes and the smiles, so I waited.

I didn't care about the other men that came my way or knowing I would be waiting for Logan longer than expected. I didn't care about that because I knew he would come back. It was as if he had made a promise to me. He promised to come back every time, missing me as much as I missed him.

After all the bullshit he and I had gone through, we were still together. We gave each other hell, but it still felt like heaven when we were together. He had to deal with a depressed broken heartened girl and I had to deal with a confused ex-player. But never in my mind did I believe this wouldn't work. I had my doubts at first, but they went away every time I saw him smile.

I wonder if he had doubts. Did I make them go away as well?

Being in a relationship with this man was so confusing. I didn't know what he was thinking or if he felt the same I did. But when he called me his queen...I felt that he did.

All I ever felt was worry and anxiety when our relationship started. Dozens of questions flooded my mind. Was I doing this right? What if he decided he wanted out all of a sudden? Did he feel the same about me?

It was so scary thinking like this. But I ignored those questions. There was no reason to feel this way. Logan gave me his all from the start. He still tried. He still cared. He still...loved me.

As I lay in his bed, I realized there was something I hadn't told him yet. I had to tell him tonight.

"Hello! Hello! Hello!" Bethany sang. "Good morning, Hannah!"

"Good morning, Bethany," I said, taking a donut hole from the box.

"Are you heading somewhere?"

"Yes. I'm going to the mall." I popped the food into my mouth.

"Are you going alone?"

I jumped at the sound of two loud beeps from outside. That's Violet alright. "My driver is here now. I'll see you later, Bethany!" I said, then ran out the front door. Violet, Grace, and Beverly were waiting for me inside Violet's big truck.

Violet continued to beep as I came toward the car. "Stop, Violet!" I yelled as I swung open her car door. I stepped into the back seat with Beverly and closed the door behind me.

"Ready to go to the mall, sweetheart?" Beverly said. "You're going to look absolutely perfect for your date."

"More like perfectly sexy," Violet said, wiggling her eyebrows.

"We have to pick the most amazing dress possible because...I'm going to tell Logan I love him tonight," I said, blushing.

The car filled with loud squeals. "You're gonna look so sexy, tonight! Logan will drop dead when he sees you!" Violet said.

"I-I hope not."

They laughed at me even though I was being serious. The drive to the mall was quick. We entered the mall with the girls debating on who would get to pick out my dress.

"I should do it," Violet said, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm an expert at sexiness."

"No, Violet!" Beverly argued. "You're gonna pick out the sluttiest dress you can find! She needs a beautiful yet sexy dress. It needs to be a dress he would want to take off slowly, not rip off."

They think we're gonna have sex, don't they?

"Fine! How about you and I pick out a dress together?" Violet said.

"Hmm, that could work." Beverly rubbed her chin.

"What'll I do?" Grace said

"How about you and Hannah look around for some heels?"

"Sure."

"Let's meet up at the food court," I said. "We'll get lunch together."

We agreed once more then went off into our groups.

I knew who Grace was, but she and I haven't talked much. It was a bit awkward.

"You're so lucky, Hannah." She said. "I would love to be able to tell Andrew I love him all over again."

"You have a boyfriend?"

"Yes, I do. We've been dating for a few years. I've been getting hints that he might pop the question soon."

"You'll say yes, right?" I nudged her shoulder playfully.

"Of course I will, I'm just so nervous. Once he gets down on his knees, I'll be swimming in my own tears."

The thought of Logan proposing sent butterflies through my stomach.

Would I say yes if Logan asked me?

"S-sorry! I didn't mean to talk about my love life in front of you. Did I seem braggy?" She said, backing up in embarrassment.

"No, of course not. I'm happy for you, Grace."

"Thank you, Hannah. Love is a beautiful thing, isn't it?" She smiled.

"It's the most beautiful thing in the world, Grace."

Once we finished shopping, the four of us met up at the food court and ate lunch. While we ate, Violet and Beverly complained about things their boyfriends did, while Grace and I stuffed food into our mouths.

After that, the girls drove me back to the company building.

"Have a wonderful night, Hannah!" Beverly said.

"Good luck," Violet said. "Remember it hurts at first, but you'll be fine in a few minutes."

My face quickly turned the color of a tomato. "Thanks for the advice, Violet. Thanks for everything guys. I'll see you later."

They waved to me once more, then drove off. I entered the building, then took the elevator back to Logan's room. It was empty inside. He still must be working.

I hung my dress in the closer and placed my box of wedges on the floor. I decided to take a nap. I was exhausted and didn't want to be dozing off during our date.

I dreamt of our date. Logan would be holding my hand and kissing my neck. We would be dancing and laughing at stupid jokes. It was amazing.

I woke up feeling something shift on the bed next to me. "Bunny? We have a date today, remember?" Logan said.

I pried my tired eyes open. The room was mostly dark, despite the lamp shining in the corner. It must've been a few hours.

"Hey, baby. What time is it?" I asked Logan, who was leaning over me.

"Almost time for our date." He leaned down and kissed my lips once and my forehead twice.

I sat up in the bed. "I'll be ready in a few minutes."

He took my face in his hands. "Take your time, Bunny. Tonight is supposed to be special. I don't want you to rush."

Yes. It will be special.

"I'll wait for you downstairs, my queen." He let me go, then left the room, but not after giving me a smile.

I heard the front door close behind him. I immediately jumped from the bed and ran into the shower. I washed my body in the warm water and washed my long hair.

I stepped out of the shower and then blowdried my hair. I straightened my hair to perfection. Once I finished, I slipped into my brand new white lace bra and matching panties.

I took my dress from the closet and held it in my hands. I couldn't believe Beverly and Violet picked this out. It was the same color as the dress I met Logan in. It was a beautiful long, pale pink dress, with a V going down the front. The V was lower than I thought it would be, but I was okay with it.

I slipped on my dress and looked in the mirror. Wow...I'm gorgeous. Thanks, guys.

I slipped the pair of white wedges Grace and I agreed on onto my feet. I slipped my pearl earrings into my ears, then studied myself in the mirror once again.

I'm ready! Right? Am I ready? Yes! I am!

I looked at myself once more, then left the room. I stepped into the empty elevator, trying not to panic.

When the doors opened, I yelped. I quickly stepped out of the elevator with my hands folded before me.

The lobby was completely empty. Not one person was in sight. Everyone must've gone home early.

"Jesus Christ," I heard in the distance. There was Logan, leaning up against the wall in the corner, watching me closely. He stepped toward me and looked me up and down. "Bunny, you look amazing!"

"Thank you," I said, blushing. "So do you."

He was in a gorgeous black suit. His white button-down shirt with three buttons undone, revealing his chest. He looked so lovely in all his suits. I reached out and placed my hand on his chest. It was so warm and I could feel his heartbeat.

He smiled at me, taking my hand in his. "Wow, Bunny. You never cease to surprise me."

There he goes, again. Making me blush like an idiot.

"Where are we going today?" I asked.

"I thought we could go to the mansion."

The mansion?

"Logan, I thought-"

"I know, I know. Don't worry, I have everything planned out. You'll love it." He said, pulling me out of the building.

His Lamborghini was parked outside, waiting for us. He opened the car door for me. I stepped in, letting go of his hand. He quickly got into the driver's side, then drove off into the night.

I couldn't have been more confused. Why were we going back to the mansion? Were we going to be having our date there instead of a restaurant? Why?

I thought of dozens of reasons why as we drove there, but I couldn't think of one that made sense.

"We're here," Logan said, turning to me. I looked out the window to see the mansion right outside.

Logan helped me out of the car like always and we walked toward the mansion. He opened the front door for me. I walked inside, Logan close behind. He turned on the lights.

Nothing had changed. It was the same as I had left it.

"Stay in here Bunny, okay? I'm going to make dinner."

"Let me help you," I said.

"It's fine, Bunny. It won't be long." He entered, the kitchen, leaving me alone in the living room.

I felt like an idiot. He was hiding so much from me and I couldn't help but wonder what it was.

I sat on the couch for about ten minutes, then turned on the tv. I watched for a few minutes, then stood from the couch. I peeked into the kitchen. "Logan?"

He was facing the stove, stirring something with a spoon in a big black pot. He turned to me once he heard my voice. "It's done. Come sit down."

I entered the kitchen, then sat down at the table. He placed a big plate of spaghetti before me. The smell of tomatoes and garlic clouded around me.

My face immediately lit up. I loved spaghetti so much. Logan smiled at my happiness then sat down with me with a plate as well.

I carefully slurped the noodles into my mouth, trying not to ruin my dress. As he and I continued to eat, he brought up the day he and I met. It was a little random, but I laughed at the memory anyway. We talked about our first kiss and the hot tub scene. I couldn't help but blush at the memories.

We drank a few glasses of red wine with our dinner and got a bit tipsy.

"Do you wanna dance, Bunny?" Logan blurted out, finishing off his drink.

"Dance? Do you have any music?"

"Who needs music? We have each other." He stood from the table and held his hand out to me. I happily took it. I giggled as he pulled me into the living room. I kicked my heels off my feet, then set my hands on his shoulders.

He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close. He and I swayed in silence. I lay my head against his chest and closed my eyes. I listened to his heartbeat. The sound was so comforting. It made me want to sleep.

Suddenly, Logan had stopped swaying. I lifted my head and looked up into his eyes. "What's wrong?" I asked.

"Listen, I have something to tell you, Bunny." His arms dropped to his sides.

"What is it?" I asked, getting nervous.

"I've been leaving you a lot lately and I'm so sorry for that, Bunny. I want you to know I regret it more than anything. Even during training, I wanted to run home and see you. I missed you so much, Bunny. You should know that I felt like a shit leaving you alone for months. Deep down, I wanted you to get tired of waiting for me. I wanted you to leave me so I wouldn't be hurting you anymore. But you didn't. You didn't leave me after all. I couldn't understand why you would wait so long for a piece of shit like me. God, I don't deserve you, Bunny. I don't deserve someone who cares for me as you do. After all I've done, after all the women I hurt and abandoned, I found the woman of my dreams without even trying. I was so scared, Bunny. I was scared that I'd screw everything up with the most amazing girl in the world." Tears formed in his blue eyes, forcing him to look away. "I tried so hard to make you understand that I wanted you to be mine without scaring you. You had just gotten your heart broken and I...I didn't want to ruin you even more. When you started to open up to me, I fell so hard for you, Bunny. I committed myself to making you happy. I wanted you to forget about Penny so you could be with me. You have no idea how much it hurt to see you cry over him. I felt like I wasn't good enough. I felt like I wasn't good enough to make you happy. But...you showed me that I am good enough. You showed that I can make you smile. You showed me that you weren't ruined after all. You showed me that you could love again." He slowly took a step back, his smiling shaking.

I watched him speechless. I had no words. What could I say to all that?

When I could no longer look into his eyes anymore, I realized what was happening.

His knee touched the ground below him, causing my hands to quickly cover my mouth. My eyes immediately filled with tears and I began to cry loudly, my sobs echoing through the room.

"I...I want to make you happy forever, Bunny. I want to make you smile and I want to make you laugh. I want to come back from work and see your beautiful face waiting for me. I'll do so much better when you say yes, Bunny. I won't hurt you ever again. I'll protect you and hug you and cuddle with you all day long if you want me to! But most of all, I'll love you. I'll love you more than anything in the entire world, Bunny. I promise. Hannah, will you be queen forever and marry me?"
