《Hidden Riches》Chapter 31

I shivered as the wind whipped my hair into my face. In my hands were two large bags of groceries. I walked up the icy stairs to Violet's house, trying not to slip. I gave two knocks on the door. In two second the door swung open.
Violet stood there. She was in a giant fur sweater and sweatpants. I was wearing the exact same thing. She held the door open for me, I walked in. "Thanks," I said. She closed the door shut behind me and locked it.
"It's freezing out there. You would've gotten frostbite if I didn't up to the door." She sat down on the couch and began to flip through the channels on the television.
I slipped off my coat and hung it on the rack. I took off my boots and placed them neatly in the corner.
"Did he call you yet?' Violet asked, her eyes glued to the screen.
"Yes. He's coming to pick me up at eight." I took the groceries into the kitchen and dropped them onto the table. Violet came in a few seconds later, pulling her hair into a ponytail. "Do you really have to leave Hannah? Who's gonna do my shopping for me?"
"You are," I said, pulling milk and cereal boxes from their bags. "And yes I do have to go, Violet. Logan's mansion is my home. I have to go back."
"OR you could stay here with me until he gets things settled with his parents."
"So you want me to stay here forever? Thanks, but no." I closed the fridge shut after putting all the food away.
"I don't think I'm getting into your head, Hannah. I'm your best friend okay? I'm just saying I'm going to miss you."
"Violet, there's no reason to miss me. I'll come and visit you all the time. This is my second home. I was here for a while and I can't just let that go."
"Aww, how sweet. A girl like you lived with a girl like me and you survived. I'm getting softer I tell ya!'
"No, you're just realizing how good it feels to be nice."
"Nah, I'm still a bitch. Anyway, let's have spaghetti tonight!"
"Can you make spaghetti?"
"No, but I assume you can." She winked. "Make my dinner, friend."
"You're helping me. It's a lot of work."
"Fine." She sighed.
As I was shaping the meat into perfect spheres, Violet stared at the noodle water, waiting for it to boil.
"Hannah, can I ask you something?"
"What?"
"When are you are Logan gonna fuck?"
I died right there. Before my soul could escape, I grabbed her and shoved her back down my throat.
"WHAT?! Why would you bring that up?!" I yelled at her, my face the color of a tomato.
"I don't know, I'm just curious."
"Violet, Logan and I haven't been together for that long. I don't want to do it too early."
"Are you religious or something? You put a lot of value into your sex life."
"No, not really. I just don't want to fuck it up, okay?"
"You're supposed to get fucked up, not it."
I threw my head back and sighed. I pulled off my gloves and dropped them in the garbage.
"Do you want to have sex with Logan?" She asked, leaning on the stove.

"In the future."
"Oh. Do you think about it? You know, his body on top of yours, breathing heavily. Your nails digging so hard into his back, he'll have marks there the next morning. You'll moan his name so loud that your throat hurts like hell- but it already should've before that-"
"Oh my God! Stop Violet!"
"Spot on, Violet. But I think she'll be screaming my name, not moaning." A deep voice boomed behind me. I turned so fast, almost hitting the wall. There was Logan standing in the doorway, looking as sexy as ever. He was wearing a big black coat and silky black jeans that looked brand new. The black boots on his feet were covered in snow. His eyes were slightly red and he was growing a stubble around his chin. Even so, he still looked amazing.
"How in the hell did you get in here, Python?" Violet said, placing her hands on her hips.
"You gave me a key last week, remember?"
"That was supposed to be for Hannah!"
"Logan, you said you were coming at eight," I said, stepping toward him. I placed a kiss on his lips.
"Sorry for coming early. I just couldn't stay home anymore." He took my chin into his hand and kissed the tip of my nose.
"Did something happen?"
"No," he said, looking at the ground. "You don't mind if I stay here until then, do you, Violet?"
"No, it's fine. Just Give me a warning next time."
"I'm gonna take my coat off." He said, leaving the kitchen. "Be right back,"
Violet and I looked at each other at the same time, then continued to cook.
Logan waited at the kitchen table, staring out the window. He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed.
The more I watched him, I noticed he hadn't been sleeping. His eyes were red and he was growing a stubble. He usually shaves every morning. Something had been keeping him up. Maybe that's what he wanted to talk to me about.
I tore my eyes away from him and placed the meatballs into the oven then sat at the table with him. His face lit up once I sat down. It was if I was the only thing that could him happy at the moment.
"I can't wait to have you back home with me, Bunny." He reached over and lay his hand over mine.
"I can't wait to be back home with you, Logan. But...you have been sleeping, right?"
"No, not really." His tore his eyes away from mine and looked down to the wooden floor once again.
"Why not?"
"Because... I'll tell you once you come home. I can't tell you here. Especially since Violet is listening."
"I'm always listening," Violet whispered.
"Shut up, " I scoffed.
"Did you finish packing?" He asked me.
"Yes, but I didn't have much to pack. All my stuff is at your place."
"It's in the same place as it was when you left."
When I left..the reason all this happened was that we left...
"Bunny?" Logan said. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine." I stood from the table and opened the oven. The meatballs were browning, but they weren't done yet. I closed the stove then sat back down at the table with Logan.
"Have your parents talked to you since the accident, Bunny?"

"No. Unfortunately, they went home right after the police came. I didn't get to know what they thought of you, Logan."
"They probably hate me. You could've been killed by those guys, Bunny. They don't trust me, do they?"
"I-I hope they do."
After we had dinner together, it was time for me to go back home with Logan.
I walked down the stairs from Violet's house, my suitcase trailing behind me.
Violet was crying fake tears at the top of the stairs. "Don't go! I love you!" She said reaching out to me.
"Violet stop. You're gonna cause a scene." I giggled.
She came down the stairs toward me. She planted her feet on the ground before me and pointed a finger in my face. "Remember what you said to me? I expect you to visit and call, okay?"
"I will," I promised. Then she pulled me into a tight bear hug.
"See you on Monday." She pulled away, turned and went up the stairs to her house.
Logan held the car down open for me. I stepped into the car while he took my suitcase from my hand and placed it in the trunk.
Once he climbed into the passenger seat, we were off.
I watched how quickly everything flew by out the window. It looked as if the trees and the houses were moving with us, but they weren't faster enough.
"Bunny, my parents are home."
His parents...
"Are you okay with that?"
"Why are they still there? I thought you hated them."
"Well...it has to do with what I wanted to tell you earlier. Also, they want to meet you."
"Why?"
"Because you live with me."
"Did you tell them why I live with you?"
"No, I didn't. I'm not going to either."
I didn't question him because I knew the answer. His parents would get rid of me immediately if they found out I was living with him because he found me drunk at a bar, not because we were in love.
Once the car began to slow down, I knew we had arrived. Logan stopped the car, then climbed out to open the door for me. "You know, I could open the door myself," I said.
"I know. As I said before you are my queen. It only makes sense that I do things for you to make you feel like one."
I held my hand out to him. He took it into his own and pulled me to my feet. He closed the car door behind me. Still holding my hand, we walked down the long lawn. The guards carefully watched me, as if they were waiting for me to attack.
Logan pushed open the front door of the mansion. Once I walked in, I wanted to fall to the floor and kiss it.
"Welcome home, " Logan said.
The living room looked slightly different inside. The couch was slightly ruffled and there were about a dozen pairs of shoes in the corner. It was obvious he wasn't living here alone.
I could feel eyes burning into the back of my neck. In the doorway of the dining room stood a gorgeous woman with a heart-shaped face, long red hair and big green eyes. She was dressed in a silky red dress with a pearl necklace around her neck. On her feet, she wore big pink slippers. She had her hands on her big belly. She was pregnant.
"Bunny, this is Anne. She's my Mom. Mom this is Hannah."
"Hello, ma'am. It's nice to meet you." I said.
She didn't respond. She looked me up and down. The woman turned on her heels and left the room.
That's not good.
"Does she not like me?" I asked Logan.
"I'll talk to her later-"
"Waahhh!" Someone yelled. Logan and I turned at the exact same time. In the woman's place stood the man who had given me 76 cents at the grocery store.
What the hell is he doing here?!
"You're the girl I saw at the grocery store!" He yelled, pointing a finger at me.
"You know her, Uncle Lex?"
UNCLE LEX?!
"This is your uncle, Logan?"
"Yeah." Logan shrugged. "Uncle Lex this is Hannah. Bunny this is Uncle Lex."
"It's nice to see you again, sir. Did you find out what candy you wanted?"
"Nah, I decided to get chips instead. Your dad's upstairs, Logan. He's waiting."
Logan sighed. "Let's go, Bunny." We walked through the kitchen, which was being cleaned by Celeste, then the living room and up the stairs.
A bright light was shining in the hallway. One of the doors in the hallway was wide open. Inside I could hear paper being ripped.
When we reached the doorway, a man was inside. The man looked to be six feet tall. His silky black hair had been completely combed back, shiny with gel. His eyes were a beautiful ocean color. They were mesmerizing. The man was wearing a suit without the jacket. His tie was loosened, hanging from his neck. He was busy ripping paper from a big blue binder.
Logan cleared his throat.
The man quickly looked up. His eyes immediately attached to me. He stared and stared at me for a long time with a blank look on his face.
"Dad, this is Hannah. Bunny, this is my dad, Reggie."
His dad, huh? This is the guy who abused him...this is the guy who blamed Logan for everything...
The next thing I knew, my feet were moving on their own and I was on top of Reggie on the ground yanking at his hair.
Reginald screamed out loud and covered his face with his hands. "Stop!"
"Bunny!" Logan's big arms immediately circled my waist and pulled me away from Reginald. Although he tried to keep a serious face, I could hear him laughing a little.
"What the hell's the matter with her?!" Reginald yelled at me getting back on his feet.
I growled at him and he backed away immediately.
"Calm down, girl," Logan said. "Sorry, Dad. I told her about my childhood remember?"
"Right. I seemed to have forgotten." He said, smoothing his hair back into place. "Have you told her yet, son?"
"No, I haven't," Logan said, letting my waist go. He refused to look at me. He kept his eyes on his father as if he was expecting him to say something.
"Tell me what?" I asked.
"Tell her now," Reginald said. He turned and sat down on his bed, watching us.
Logan took in a large breath. He turned to me, his sea colored eyes looking deep into my own. "Hannah...my Dad wants me to take over his company.
After he said those words...I did the unthinkable.
