《Grace》Chapter 9

I watched as she twisted and turned in her sleep. She mumbled incoherently as sweat beads flowed down her face. She's such a beautiful woman, she shouldn't have put up with what she did.

"No! No! No!" She mumbled with her arms fighting the air. "Please stop!" She said a little louder. Then her body went dead. She stopped all movements and I couldn't see her chest moving.

"Grace!" I panicked. I picked her up and her body was heavy and lifeless. "Grace!" I slapped her face a little. "Fuck!" I began to pump her chest in the way I learned at a CPR class my mother made me take when I was in high school.

Giving her my breath and pumping her chest, she eventually coughed. Her chest moved fast then her hands started hitting anything in her way, including me and that shit hurt.

She jumped up as she felt her hands touch me. "What're you doing in here?" She asked with her head hung and the soft voice in used to.

"I wasn't sure if you're going to classes or not," I flexed my arms a little from her punch and looked at her crazy, curly bed hair.

"Oh!" She hurried out of the bed. "What time lol is it?" She panicked. Her dress lifted up and bruises on her thick, toned thighs made my blood boil. "Hello?"

"It's 4 in the morning, go back to sleep," I said with no emotion in my voice. She nodded and climbed back the into bed.

"Can-" she stopped herself from saying anything. "Thank you,"

"Can I what?" I asked with curiosity seeping through my words.

"Nothing it's okay," she went back to closing her eyes and I sat back in the chair to watch her sleep.

"Alessandro," I heard my name being whispered. I looked around to see an empty room. My name was whispered again and this time I saw her. Beautiful long dark hair, bright eyes and a luminous smile.

"Deena?" I asked. She smiled at me which resulted in me jumping out of the chair. "What're-"

"You like this girl," she stated, not asked. I opened my mouth to speak but she held her hand up. "Don't say it's too soon, I like her too,"

"You know I can't," I sighed. She walked over to me and caressed my cheek. It's been so long since I've felt her touch. I almost forgot what it felt like.

"Don't leave," I begged, I've always had a weak spot for her.

"I'll never leave, I'll be in your heart but stop pushing her away," Deena smiled at me then kissed my cheek and she disappeared.

"Mr. Colombo?" I heard a soft voice. My eyes shot open to see Grace. That was all a dream? My angel visited me in a dream.

"I didn't know I fell asleep," I rubbed my eyes and then cracked my fingers.

"Me either, you're a quiet sleeper," she smiled at me. "I have class at 7, so I'll be out of your hair," I nodded at her but didn't say anything.

Grace started spreading the bed that she slept on. I would've stopped her to say that a maid will do it but she looked so perfect spreading the bed. Her usual tense face, just a little less tense than usual. Her eyes still held fear in it but she blinks it away every once in a while.

Her thighs jiggled when she walked and it complimented her ass bouncing. Her curly hair moved stage bent over to straighten out the sheets and adding pillows. Her nipples hardened as the a/c blew cool air. Grace would bite her lips as she yanked on the comforter to make it straight, and that drove me mad.

"I'll go ask Dr. Velez if he has any extra scrubs for you to wear to class," I couldn't watch her anymore, it started to become creepy.

"Okay," she nodded. I can see the bruises on her neck that her boyfriend, well dead boyfriend, put there and I'm still puzzled at how anyone could harm such a beautiful woman. She doesn't seem like the unfaithful type, she was too scared of him to even try that. But you never know.

The second he left the room, fear crept over me. I killed a man. Whether he deserved it or not, I played God and now he's dead. All I can do now is pray for forgiveness.

My cheap phone rang. It was loud enough to bring me out of my thoughts but quiet enough for me to ignore and say I never heard it.

I answered anyway. "Hello?" I whispered.

"Grace, why're you whispering?" My little sisters voice rang in my ear.

"Oh my God! Renee!" I said into the phone. I haven't spoken to my little sister in years.

"Hey!" She laughed. "I don't have much credit but I just calling to check on you," my little sister is the party girl version of me, so her calling must mean one of two things. She needs something, or she really misses me.

"I'm doing good, how is my baby?" My accent came out as I spoke to my sister.

"He's so smart! He's top in his class but he's missing you, when you coming back?" She asked and I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not sure," I honestly spoke. I could hear her sighing and moving around.

"Alright real talk," she started off and now I know she's serious. "I'm planning on moving to America,"

"What?" Why would she want to move here? What's up here?

"Yeah, I'm moving to New York," I don't know what she's trying to do but she needs to rethink this.

"Why? Wah deh up ya?" I asked her. There's nothing up here for her.

"You. Money. A job," Renee said with obvious attitude in her voice.

"Where you gonna work?" I sat down on the bed I just finished spreading. Renee is only 18, what job can she really get?

"At this place called Donec," Renee is about as naive as I was when I came up here.

"That's the club I used to work at, Renee," I sighed. It pays well but with the body of hers and the 18 year old mind set, she's going to be convinced into being a stripper.

"Even better!" She laughed. Someone knocked on the room door and I quickly got up off the bed.

"I have to go but What'sApp me," I told her and didn't even give her a chance to say bye before I hung up.

"Ms?" A soft voice asked.

"Come in," I told the soft voice. The door opened and a short, petite lady walked in. "Are those the scrubs?" I asked.

"Yes," she handed them to me with a smile on her face. "You didn't have to spread the bed,"

"I know," I said to her and she nodded. I quickly put on the scrubs and the ugly shoes that came with it.

"Mr. Columbo said to meet him downstairs after you're finished," the petite lady relayed to me. I threw my hair into a messy bun then grabbed my phone and ran downstairs.

"That was quick," I heard from behind me. "Lets go," Dro walked away from me and I followed like a child.

The car ride was quiet and for me, awkward. It's not unusual for Dro to not speak but for some reason I just felt different towards him. I don't understand the feelings yet but whatever I'm feeling, it's making being around him awkward.

"There'll be a car waiting for you," he said as he dropped me off on campus. I nodded and stepped out of the car, only to be faced with my best friend.

"Grace are you okay?" Tre asked with panic evident in his voice. "I heard about Andre," he said. My heart dropped, what does he know?

I remained quiet and he hugged me. "I didn't think he'd be the type to kill himself,"

Kill himself? I turned around to see Dro's car speeding off. My mind is in a million places right now. People think that Andre killed himself? Not that I killed him?
