"Calling Lorenzo and tell him that Aloia has been found out. Tell him to get to the great hall immediately." I said with a cold voice. I don't care if she loves me or hates me, I love her, and she wasn't going to get away like this. We aren't over just yet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I slowed opened my eyes and flinched from the pain in my head. There was a bright light, but it took me some time to adjust to it.

"Ah, look just in time. The princess is awake", said Ares as he towered over me. I quickly looked around and realized what was happening.

I was chained both my arms and legs, crouching down on my knees in front of Ares sitting on his throne and Ali standing by his side. I turned behind me and saw guards as well as people beginning to come into the room.

"Maid!", yelled out Ares in front of me.

Annie scurred to his feet and bowed. "Yes, your majesty", she said with a quivering voice.

"Clean her face for her beheading. Wouldn't want you to die looking so disgusting, would you? Now that would be immoral!" He laughed out.

Talk about getting your priorities straight.

Annie took me by my hand and moved me to the corner of the room.

"Aloia", Annie said with a whimper in her voice.

"Shh, don't cry love. It's okay, my time is up. But please be careful and take care of yourself love." I said as I took my hand and cupped her cheek. She moved her rag to my face and started to wipe away the dried blood from my nose. Somehow Ares hadn't broken it.

"Can't you use your water powers to stop this from happening? Please, Aloia, your dad uses them." She sobbed and curled into my arms.

I knew with Ares saw he would kill her as well. I couldn't let that happen.

"Annie", I whispered into her ear. "You have to get up. If Ares sees you in my lap, you will die as well. If it means so much for you to have my tried my powers." My nonexistent ones, I said in my head.

"Alright", she said with a huge smile.

"And make sure you aren't in the room when it begins", I added with a soft smile. This poor girl had gone through enough trauma, she did not need anymore.

"What the hell is taking so long?" Ares yelled out as he walked over to us.

I quickly pushed Annie off my lap and winked at her.

"Give me that", Ares said as he grabbed a bucket of dirty mop water and poured it over my head.

I shivered in response.

"See, now that wasn't so fucking hard, was it?" He growled at Annie.

"Sorry your highness", she squeaked.

"Get out of my sight", he yelled as she scurried away.

"Stop being a dick!", I yelled at him.

"Watch your mouth", he responded with a snarl.

"Or what?" I said with a dry laugh "You'll kill me? I am afraid that is alright happening."

He grabbed me by my hair and started to pull me in the direction of his throne.

"Keep your fucking mouth shut or you will lose your tongue first", he threatened as he threw me on the ground in front of the throne.

"Ladies and gentlemen", Ares announced to the crowd in front of him. I turned and realized there were hundreds of people in the great hall. All to see one thing, my death.

I tuned out Ares' speech as I looked down on the carpet in front of me. My hair dripping from the dirty mop water onto the new gorgeous carpet. I focus on the water drops trying to distract myself from the reality that was about to occur.

I had barely lived my life. I had never laid with a man and never been loved by a person by a person who has not betrayed me or died. I channeled that into the water droplet that was holding my entire sanity together.

At first, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but then I saw it. The water droplets were vibrating.

I quickly turned back into reality fearing Ares saw the whole thing. But when I looked back up, he was still giving his long speech about my crimes.

"... not only has this horrid woman been lying about being my son's mate, but she has also been working with the South against the North. To bring us down!" he exclaimed and the whole crowd gave an audible gasp.

'Dramatic fucks', I thought to myself but was interrupted from my train of thought as two men came rushing into the great hall.

Ahh, my prince charmings.

"Aloia!", yelled Caspian as he and Silas tried to break through the crowd but the guard caught both of them and held them back.

Both of them were dumb enough to make a scene pretending to be brave when they could've stayed quiet and sneaked onto the platform to save me.

"Quiet!", yelled out Ares. "Alright, enough with the delay. Aloia, any final words?"

I thought for a moment and then decided on saying "Fuck you".

He snarled his mouth response and said "Good riddance" as he called the executioner to the platform.

'It's now or never', I told myself and tuned out the yells from Silas and Caspian begging me to fight back.

I took a deep breath and focus on the water droplet surrounding me, on my skin, in the carpet, and from the air. I haven't been able to play piano one last time, to play the tunes my mother poured hours into teaching me as a child. I felt the anger rise inside me.

"One", said Ares and I could hear his smile in his voice.

I had been able to join my only dream, a militia. To fight for what I believe in with a group of soldiers, friends who had my back no matter how much trouble I was in. I hadn't been able to fight one last time with Caspian, Silas, or Lorenzo. To fight until one of us collapsed because we were too cocky to surrender. And then lie on the floor drench in sweat waiting until our breathing returns to normal so we could roll around on the floor from laughter about our stupid mistakes and make fun of each other.

"Two", Ares whispered into my ear but I continued to ignore him.

I hadn't been able to spend time with my true father. To hear the stories of my mother growing up. About them falling into love, visiting the places they used to go to. I felt the water droplets shaking around me but I knew I needed another thought of motivation.

"Three", Ares yelled.

I hadn't been able to tell Caspian I loved him.

I felt the water surge up into a blockade as the ax came down on my head. I flinched for impact, but it never came.

A gasp came from around the room as I looked up and saw a sheet of water blocking the ax from my head.

I quickly turned to face Caspian and Silas as their mouths were hanging out.

We locked eyes as I mouthed now to them and they knew what to do.

I pushed the water back onto the executor as he fell backward from the force. I quickly turned to Ares and before he could react, I made a wall from the water and pushed it onto him and Ali. He tried to speak but, it wasn't coming through the water.

Silas grabbed the keys from my chains that fell onto the floor from Ares as I pushed the wall further and further. He and Caspian worked at the same time unlocking my hands and feet.

As soon as they were open, we ran.

I took the wall of water off of Ali and Ares and used it to make a path for us through the crowd.

"GUARDS!" Ares yelled as got to the door.

We quickly ran out and Silas and Caspian shut the door trying to stop the guards from following us.

I took the water and forced it to become a wide piece of wood that was made out of ice that fits across the door.

"Both of you move away", I said with a strict voice and they knew better than to question me now.

They quickly moved away from the door and I put the piece of wooden water in their places.

We quickly turned to face each other and started to run to the entrance of the castle. I hoped Lorenzo would be there with a getaway car because I was already feeling exhausted and faint.

As soon as we ran out of the castle, Lorenzo was there with 5 horses and he was accompanied by Calandra with worried looks on their faces.

(Calandra is the girl from earlier chapters that walked Aloia to the ballroom because Caspian didn't trust her and became friends with her)

"Aloia is everything alright", Caspian asked standing behind me.

"Yeah splendid", I replied. I realized we were finally safe, and I wasn't going to die. The exhaustion hit me like a brick, and I felt myself falling.

"ALOIA!" was the last thing I heard, and I am not even sure who yelled it.
